For those who don't have a die grinder, there is a drill bit for a drill that is called an internal pipe cutter.

@@MRRVTECH The removal went very fast and very clean. I didn't need to save the drain valve so I could remove the entire thing as a whole. When I got under it was exactly as you taught so I was very comfortable removing the cross brace and lowering the tank. Again, thank you. You made the difference!

Thanks for the video! It helped me out, as i am building a Food Trailer. Going to use the rubber grommets for drain and vent pipes. No toilet so its a grey water only. Going to use angle iron on tank lips and two metal straps prevent bulge 40 gallon when full. Thanks

I'm removing the rotten floor of my 18 yr old toy hauler and couldn't get the toilet flange to lift up. Was really hoping this video wasn't going to inform me it's glued in. This just added a bunch of work to a job I already know is too big to be worth it. Thanks for making this informational video, really helps.

Thanks so much for posting this video. I have an 84 fleetwood wilderness travel trailer and i want desperately to move to "head" to the back of the trailer, but that means swapping the fresh water tank which is in the back to the mid section where the black tank is now. Until I found this video I had no clue how i was going to perform this insane task lol. If there is any reason you think I shouldn't try this please let me know. I know its a lot of work and rewiring and plumbing, but that 18 footer will be my home for the foreseeable future and I want to love it LOL

That was an amazing presentation and attention to detail. ATM my grey tank is leaking from up top. The plumbing is abs into top. Not sure how one can reconnect everything up top.

How do you get ABS separated when you only need to replace a portion of pipe.

What brand are those grommets?
Have you ever installed multiple tank flushers? It would seem having one on each side, and perhaps even a third in the rear would give a much better flush than a single outlet. Thoughts??

Gray tanks(shower and kitchen sink may have a vent but more then likely they have an air-gap vent which if you look under your sink up high you'll see it.
Good video with some pertinent information, but… what’s the glue you used to bond the flushing nozzle to the tank, and BTW, stainless steel hose clamps are easy enough to find.

The black flush fitting is cracked on the side of my tank. I was able to pull out the threaded elbow. Can I drill the spun welded piece out and replace it with the piece you used, can I plug the spun weld piece and put a new one offset, or do I need to replace the tank? I have a 2017 Grey Wolf 26DBH.
Considering a holding tank from Amazon “class A customs” brand. Would you use this, or is there another brand of tank you prefer?
Question, I am attempting to repair a black thank that is leaking at the top. I think its the seal between the closet flange and the gasket. Ours was loose in between the closet flange and the grommet that is sitting on the black tank, it may have been crimped. Now I'm wondering how to get a good seal between the two, and on your video it shows that you had to push them together pretty tight (@14:53) - if mine is a little more loose, how do I seal them together? Maybe I need a bigger closet flange, or a smaller tank grommit?

Nice video. I would ad to please wear safety glasses especially when using cutting tools. Also good idea to support the tank as sometimes when cutting or disconnecting flanges the tank might drop and tear out the wiring or plumbing. Might want to lower the music a little in editing. So how many hrs of labor approximately for a professional technician such as yourself? I live in my RV, need to replace the tank.. how many days should it normally take as I'll have to find someplace to stay while it's in shop? I am trying to get an idea whether to update this one, which I love the living set up, or just trade in for more newer model... and payments.

Thanks elderly lady here in a RV from the USA imported into New Zealand. I am moving up onto the top of a camp Is it possible to remove the black tank all together and bypass it and set up a direct piping to connect to the plumbing so i can have an ordinary toilet in the bathroom of the CCK 40ft
It was glaringly evident from the beginning, that the sharp edges of the tek screw strap bolt heads were digging into the bottom of the tank through vibration. The leaks matched up with the tek screws strap bolt heads exactly. These straps were not necessary and were installed later by an unthinking technician.Tanks just don't develop leaks right in the middle of the wall thickness for no reason. They could have pop riveted the straps. The pop rivet has an almost flat head which would have been facing the tank. Maybe stick a small rubber pad between the head of the pop rivet and the tank to isolate any further damage from vibration would have helped. There really should have been a rubber covering around the edges of the rails supporting the tank or anywhere that the tank came into contact with steel framing, but they put it back together with the sharp edges digging into the tank, so maybe another 100,000 miles down the road it will leak again. Quasi professional as they worked on the tank on the floor instead of a table and never thought to mop up the water on the floor under the RV where they were working.
this was a brand new rv straight from the factory never worked on or camped in. thanks for your input though...

Great video! Now I understand why my dealer is quoting 850.00 to replace the flange mount on my black water tank. I guess they need to work from the bottom up to get at it, no way to replace the tank flange from the top. My toilet mount was a little lose and I figured the flange was just broken but they say it's the flange mount to the tank that's cracked. My RV is only 3 years old with very little use, is this is common problem?
Thank you for the compliment! That's usually the going rate depending on the RV and what labor rates are in your area. Leaks in tanks are fairly common, usually caused by poor fitting installations, or cracking due to expansion and retracting. Thanks for watching and good luck with your repair sir!
I have a new coach with a leaking gray tank. It seems to be close to the worm clamp with what appears to be plumbers putty. Your tank looks to be the same, but there was no mention/video of that connection. Could you please provide info discussing that connection. I’m still under warranty but want to fix the issue properly. Could I show you a picture of my tank and issue? I would really appreciate your expert opinion.

Is there any glue on the flange or is it just a push in rubber gasket seal
Both types exist, the one in this video is a rubber push in grommet.
When placing a ABS pipe into the rubber grommet, do you push the pipe though the grommet into the tank a couple of inches or do you push it into the bottom of the grommet?

He drilled holes in the new tank for the sensors. They must be salvageable since he was able to reuse them.

Any advice if I can not get an exact replacement for my tank on my 2000 Jamboree? Will it be difficult if I go with a smaller generic tank off of amazon?
As long as you have the means to brace it in between the frame without it falling when its full.

So if something did drop into the tank like that plastic cutout. How would one go about gett in that item out. Especially is said item is a toilet brush
Unfortunately it will have to be retrieved manually from one end or the other.......sometimes a coat hangar will do the trick. GOOD LUCK!!
Removing the black water tank you dont have to remove the toilet, easier just to go underneath the unit there generally is a rubber gasket that can be seperated unscrewing couple hose clamps & prying around it with screwdriver i use soapy dish water in spray bottle to work it lose when prying on the gasket coupler.

I am going to watch this through, but the first thing that caught my eye is that bolts for the valves appear pristine. I went to replace my valve, underbelly of a 2015 Class C with no protection from the elements, and...well they did NOT look like that! LOL
I would like to know how you determined the exact places to cut your holes in the new tank. I saw your white + but you didn't show how you arrived at your conclusions.
i measured from one side and one end of the tank to determine centers
Really crappy job! Tank you for sharing you're expertise. Seriously though, what are your thoughts on those spin welded fittings? Do they seem to hold up and have you ever installed one yourself?
haha! spin welds are awesome, if installed correctly. I have had the opportunity to use a portable spin welder it takes practice......as you can see not my favorite method.
As an added protection I personally like to screw a termination cap into the toilet water supply line just in case.
I'm thinking about getting to rving but what's the biggest tank that you could upgrade that to cuz that was a very small water tank.
Most of them are about 40 gallons. I know it doesn’t seem big enough.
I have an old 75 fleetwood that I'm pulling the tank out of, it has the removable support, but somewhere along it's life, someone welded the support to to the framerail. Any idea as to why they did that?
Added Strength, I've had those galvanized straps break on me with a full tank, driving with a full tank, L bracket steel is what I use now, that shit aint goin nowhere
I have a 2005 camper. The people I bought It from were careless and only wanted money. I have since found that they used a few cans of foam sealer under the outside of camper around the pipes and release valves. The inside has rotted out all the floor under the toilet and into the living room floor. There is water pouring out from the foam stuff under the camper. I am asking since I am permanent where I have the camper can I get rid of the black tank and run plumbing direct to sewage.

The only weird thing you do is ((priming)) ABS . all videos I watched say that PVC and CPVC have to be primed not ABS ??
You are correct, you don't have to. I just do it to ensure it's clean, not to prime the ABS material.
Unfortunately you cannot take these joints apart, or reuse fittings. Any mistakes or leaks require new parts.

This video doesnt give all steps of what is needed to know & do removing the tank, first of all what year model make is this rv? as with cars trucks everything is different & how things come apart & also whats not mentioned about is the shower stall drain that has to be disconnected below before removal of tank. theres more to know & do then just removing wires & a toilet.
One has to be somewhat handy to begin with. Then the year, make and model won't make a difference. The showers almost always drain to a grey tank and not the black tank.

I dunno….the video presentation and the info is great. However, the music I found to be very annoying very quickly. It wouldn't be quite so bad if the blast coming out of instruction wasn't so extreme. Don't get me wrong, I love loud rock n roll! But having to turn up volume to hear you, and then music blast coming out was not good. I found myself paying more attention to adjusting volume than information. With all due respect, my .02.
