I have been a fan of this for close to 15 years. For the past 3-4 months it has been impossible to find here in Indianapolis Indiana. Normally you can get anything here. Anyway, finally found some for $26. Love this classic!
This is, hands down, my favorite bourbon. I paid $35 for it, I would have paid $50. My biggest gripe with it is that I just can't get it where I am. I've tried talking to various liquor stores and I guess the distributors just won't bring it in. If this was readily available and $35 there's no question that it would be my daily drinker.
Jim Beam actually did stop production/bottling of OGD114 for 3 months before they changed their mind. That’s why shelves didn’t replenish. Glad they changed their mind. This is in my top 5 everyday bourbons.
I stopped on my way home to get my EW 1786 and seen this OG 114 and got it to try as well. Then I get home to see you just posted a video on it. The timing was Outstanding, i will be trying it tonight. Keep the videos coming.
All three OGD's are fantastic! By far the biggest bang for the buck on all 3! All are great sippers and make for awesome cocktails. Oh how I love me an OGD Old Fashioned!
Thanks for the video. I concur with your review. OGD 114 is super rare where we live in the Atlanta area. Its not stocked in stores near us. I’ve only seen it in one store in N GA about 45 miles from our house. I’ve picked up six bottles so far; only two left. Just finished a bottle a few minutes prior to finding your video.
OGD114 is by far one the best attainable bourbons today and is criminally overlooked. I'm glad as it's one of my daily sippers for the past 3 years and it'll be shame when it goes up in price.
Just got my first bottle tonight and WOW! So much character! Gonna put it up against Belle Meade Reserve and OF 1920 in our bourbon tasting group tomorrow. Can't wait!
What a beautiful couple in all demensions love your straight forward knowledgeable show Old grand dad is lovely and on a very cold day healing after being in the cold all day great bourbon
Exactly what I thought, I’m 34 and my dad had me watching him as Sherlock when I was a kid, Sir Guy in Robin Hood and also and epic antihero in Capt Blood!!
Poured myself 3 fingers of OGD 114 and sipped along with you. I was right with you Chad with the tea notes. I might make my wife's next Southern Old Fashioned with OGD 114.
I was nosing and tasting while you were, and it helped me to pick up the nuances, I nosed citrus (lemon) and what I thought was green apple till you said tea and I agree it is tea. you do get honey on the (nose) front end, and when tasting it got stronger with each sip, you definitely get the pepper from the rye too and it has a very mild ethanol smell considering the proof. You sure do get a Kentucky hug when it goes down but it's a pleasant hug, not a strangle hold like the bottle of Very Old Barton 100 I bought did. This would make a great utility bourbon for when Im mixing equal parts flavored whiskeys with this to kick up the ABV a notch. Thanks for the review and 🥃Cheers.
Fun fact folks, Old Grand-Dad 114 has only begun showing up here in Columbus, Oh since COVID-19 closed down the bars and restaurants. Without that outlet, Kroger's is now carrying it for about $30, but they are keeping it behind the counter where you have to ask for it. I ask. I'm just that brutha. Great review, kids. Sara, you look lovely and that's a very nice sweater you're rocking. Chad, I do believe your voice is getting lower and has more bass in it, but that could just be me. P.S. I finally cracked open the Wild Turkey Rare Breed and I am certain I just shaved two years off of my liver and life. WHOA, THIS STUFF IS HAWT!!!!!
Henry McKenna Single Barrel used to be epic with value and quality , then it won tons of awards a couple years ago...and the price rocketed up and became very hard to come by.
Just got a bottle of this for $30 at the local Kroger's. It was very hot until I let it rest for about 15 minutes, then those rich notes of dark fruit, caramel, oak, etc. began to shine through on the nose. Taste was similar with a lingering cinnamon/spice finish.
You two started me on my bourbon journey with 12yr EC. ODG114 is my favorite high proof bourbon with 1920 coming in 2nd. For the life of me I don't know why you don't pour a glass and hit it with a big plop of water. So much aroma produced from that.
If i let it sit awhile I get cinnamon, mint, orange peel, sweet tea on the front end and peanut butter and butterscotch on the back end. Lots of cinnamon, mint if i dont let it sit. Havent tried diluting yet
I have been drinking OGD BIB for years. I never had 114 before tonight. My friends told me,You have got to try a 114 old fashioned. I like it but I have to say. Sipping it. I get a cherry cola. Chocolate cherry off of it. Outside of the cinnamon of course. I think this is a Bourbon that hits higher than it's price point
I can't believe all the positive reviews for this bourbon, I have a bottle and had to add water or coke to get it down. But after seeing this video I'll give it another shot.
Just bought four bottles at a local store. It's become difficult to find here in Bloomington, MN. I've got a buddy in WI who can't find it anymore where he lives. He's taking three bottles, I'm keeping one. $30 for one bottle up in MN as of March 2023.
Can’t wait to try this one! The liquor store was sold out of it last week when I was searching, so I ended up restocking my eagle rare. Trying to climb up the proof ladder without jumping straight into cask strength.
I love high rye/high proof bourbons. High rye bourbons stand up to ice better that anything else. This is a great one for $25-28. These benefit from a little air time. My latest bottle was harsh when I first opened it. I struggled with it down to the shoulder and shelved it for a while. It is delish now. Similar to Belle Meade ask strength at half the price. Cheers!
I picked up a bottle of this for around $30 here in Virginia a few months back. I agree with you guys it brings the heat, but doesn't have much going for it in flavor. I drank it neat, but may have to try it with some water to see if it helps with the flavor. Not to go on a "mouth feel" tangent, but it seems OGD 114 is very thin. It didn't seem to have alot of body to it. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't know if that's an accurate description for other folks.
Yeah it's not super complex. Didn't get an oily "mouth feel" either, but it didn't seem thin to us. If anything it's a unique (and since unique can sometimes mean bad, in this instance we mean good) tasting Bourbon.
I've been enjoying my bottle of OGD114. It's a great value bourbon, that's for sure. It's not going to blow anybody away with complexity or uniqueness but it's pretty delicious just the same. Really enjoyed your review guys. Keep up the fun and great reviews.
Oh! Neat that you guys did this one. Just picked one up a few weeks ago on a whim. It is....okay. Not amazing to me. BUT....it makes a mean Old Fashioned! The thing that got me is that it made me really thirsty. Maybe it was a heavy oil or maybe the proof. But it worked okay after pouring it over an ice sphere or making an Old Fashioned
Old Grand Dad BIB is ok but kind of blah, to me. Also the Jim Beam funk seems more prominent in the lower proofed OGDs. The 114 has a pop and a lengthy finish that set it apart in the lineup. I agree that it's best left at full proof (neat). It's hard to find a good high proof bourbon or any kind of high proofed whisk(e)y for $30 or less. My local big box liquor store has Maker's Mark barrel proof for $38 right now, but I'm not a huge wheated bourbon fan. If anyone can tell me that it's altogether a different experience over regular Maker's (which to me is blah), then I might give it a try.
$38 is steal for MM Cask Strength, for our area, at least. We aren't fans of the 90 proof MM at all, but we really like the C.S. I would say go for it!
I’ll agree with you. I’ve tried several bottles of the OGDBIB and just don’t care for it, while the OGD114 is a favorite. While the entire OGD/Basil Hayden lineup shares the same mashbill, OGD114 and Basil Hayden go in the barrel at a lower proof than OGD80 & OGDBIB. That could be the difference for me.
My wife got me a bottle because I have been going through root canal hell lately. I killed my bottle about a year ago and haven't been able to find a new one. My wife got one for me from total wine for 27.99 and I am very happy. I haven't popped it yet but i remember it being very peanutty and a good proof. Excited to see if I can find more notes noe thay I have gotten further into the journey if you will hahaha
Finally got one too. Had to cross state lines to find it. Sadly only the BiB(still good though) is sold in Iowa. But super excited for it. Also bout dang old time for this to get its time in the spotlight
I’m sorry, but I’ll admit when I first tasted OGD114 I was disappointed. I always drink my bourbon neat and I swore the finish reminded me of DayQuil! Buuuuuutttt, mama ain’t raise no quitter, lol. After 2-3 weeks it opened up and as I traveled closer to the end of my bottle I wanted less because I wanted to save more. I hope my next bottle will start differently, but we shall see. Cheers everyone
Smart Thomas I was not a fan either. Cracked it and was too hot. 3 weeks later gave it another try. Same result, hot and not enjoyable. 2 oz. out of the bottle, some oxidation and 6 months later I tried it again. Boom. Opened up nicely, heat was tamed and turned into a really good pour.
Really enjoy this bourbon but I bought 3 bottles not too long ago and something just doesn't taste right about it this new batch that I had just open. Hope the next 2 bottles taste like the old stuff.
You down with OGD? Yeah you know me!
Hahaha nice one! Okay, this comment is getting pinned at the top. Everyone like it.
Naughty by Nature????
Best comment everrrrrrr!!!!!!
My grandparents house was right across from the original OGD distillery….grew up smelling that mash….great memories
I love OGD 114, and know that it’s about 1 fancy bottle redesign away from being $50+
Love the price right now, one of the best bangs for the buck
So true!
I have been a fan of this for close to 15 years. For the past 3-4 months it has been impossible to find here in Indianapolis Indiana. Normally you can get anything here. Anyway, finally found some for $26. Love this classic!
20.99 here in madison wi. Steal of the day.
Great review. OGD 114 has become one of my absolute essential bourbons, for all the reasons you mention. This is the real, true form of Basil Hayden.
I always hesitate spending more than $30. OGD 114, WT 101 and OF Rye are all about $25 or less here in KC. All are just delicious neat.
On sale at Gomers in Lenexa this week for 19.99
This is $60 where I live! (For three of them)
Just bought this bottle.... really good.... it is excellent on the rocks.
Nice! I just picked up a bottle of OGD 114 yesterday to celebrate the passing of April 15th (tax accountant here).
114 proof will get you through stay at home easier😳
Sipping with ice. A bargain for these times. Cheers
Just picked up a bottle last night curb side at my local store (Indiana). $24 Cheers!
Jim Beam actually did stop production/bottling of OGD114 for 3 months before they changed their mind. That’s why shelves didn’t replenish. Glad they changed their mind. This is in my top 5 everyday bourbons.

We try to monitor your purchases to know when to drop certain videos. ;)
Thats hilarious.
@@ItsBourbonNight Calm down Bezos.
Just bought my first bottle of ogd114 . Love it on the rocks it stands up then as ice melts the flavors keep changing , my new budget favorite.
I live in Milwaukee and this is my number 1 value Bourbon. It’s priced here at $20! I love the high rye bourbon. Great review.
All three OGD's are fantastic! By far the biggest bang for the buck on all 3! All are great sippers and make for awesome cocktails. Oh how I love me an OGD Old Fashioned!
Absolutely fantastic!!
OGD makes the best Old Fashioneds
My friend got me this when I found out I was going to be a grandfather....lol....he thought he was being funny. But it was really good!
I love OGD114. To me it tastes like someone dropped a few red hot candies in a bottle KCSB
That sounds horrible. ???????
Proof, price, and flavor....winner! A personal favorite.
We have two bottles of OGD114 in our cabinet and we love it. Neat and in one of our favorite bourbon cocktails!
I paid 20 bucks for this bottle just a week ago, it was the only bottle in the shelf! Absolutely love this bourbon
Great review! I actually bought a bottle a few months ago because of you two talking about it so much. And I picked up for $25.
The editing in this episode is even better than usual. I love the quick cuts and the additional crop angles 👍🏼 Very well done
My first favorite Bourbon. Neat of course.
One of my favorite bourbons at any price.
Quickly becoming my go to bourbon. I just bought 3 bottles 2 days ago for $22.50 each.
One of the best values in bourbon. Great daily pour
This and Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond are the best daily drinkers
How true, you know you have good taste
OGD114 is by far one the best attainable bourbons today and is criminally overlooked. I'm glad as it's one of my daily sippers for the past 3 years and it'll be shame when it goes up in price.
Just got my first bottle tonight and WOW! So much character! Gonna put it up against Belle Meade Reserve and OF 1920 in our bourbon tasting group tomorrow. Can't wait!
Just bought a bottle of this earlier tonight, so perfect timing that I just discovered your video. Anxious to try it!
One of the best bargin Bourbons out there and will beat out out bottles 2 to 3 it's cost
What a beautiful couple in all demensions love your straight forward knowledgeable show Old grand dad is lovely and on a very cold day healing after being in the cold all day great bourbon
Love Old Grand-Dad 114... have 1/4 left and will be picking up more, and the OGD BnB
Picked up my second bottle of OGD 114 two weeks ago, going to uncork it tomorrow night, might rewatch this video when I drink this
I would. Then I might watch it a 3rd time. Then I might set it repeat and go to bed. ;)
Basil Fawlty - Fawlty Towers; Darn, another fictional Basil...
When anyone asks , what's the most underrated bourbon?. This one is my answer.
Cal Cur I go back and forth between OGD114 and WT Rare Breed.
Yeah, I totally agree.....kind of wish they didn't make this video as now more folks will know about it........
Oopsie :)
Or just WT 101!
Definitely one of the most underrated. I think WT 101 is the most underrated especially since I can get it for 18$.
Basil Rathbone - a real person and the definitive Sherlock Holmes
Exactly what I thought, I’m 34 and my dad had me watching him as Sherlock when I was a kid, Sir Guy in Robin Hood and also and epic antihero in Capt Blood!!
IIRC, he was also in 'Hillbillies in a Haunted House' with Boris Karlof.
Poured myself 3 fingers of OGD 114 and sipped along with you. I was right with you Chad with the tea notes. I might make my wife's next Southern Old Fashioned with OGD 114.

Recently had this for the first time. I like it and think it's a great value!!
It's $30 in NC, and I consider it the best value bourbon in our stores.
Zachary Robbins 336 in the house!
I’ll agree!
Henry McKenna Single Barrel used to be epic with value and quality , then it won tons of awards a couple years ago...and the price rocketed up and became very hard to come by.

Absolutely our favorite for Old Fashion's yummy 😋
For ~$25, It's tough to beat.
Agreed! Great utility Bourbon! I keep a bottle in my Collection!
I have been drinking OGD BIB for years. I never had 114 before tonight. My friends told me,You have got to try a 114 old fashioned. I like it but I have to say. Sipping it. I get a cherry cola. I just opened a bottle of this a few days ago. So far I've only had it neat. I like it a lot!
Just opened a bottle of this. Have absolutely no idea why I haven't drank this before. Its terrific.

Still around $20 most places here in Texas.
That's awesome!

Never had OGD just picked up a bottle for $24.99 here in central NY, cheers!
One of my favorite bourbons. Especially in a manhattan.
I love high rye/high proof bourbons. High rye bourbons stand up to ice better that anything else. This is a great one for $25-28. These benefit from a little air time. My bottle has been sitting for a while. Maybe it's changed up some since then.
It’s a good daily drink; there are better bourbons, but they cost twice as much.
I've been enjoying my bottle of OGD114. It's a great value bourbon, that's for sure. It's not going to blow anybody away with complexity or uniqueness but it's pretty delicious just the same.
Really enjoyed your review guys. Keep up the fun and great reviews.
I get that peanut butter all day! Great review

My favorite $30 bottle for sure!
Bought my firstliest bottle just today. This is a really good workman like bourbon. Going to try it in an Old Fashioned. Paid $31.00
Chad, the side glance killed me!
It's a great mixer, maybe the best.
Made the best Old Fashioned I've ever had.
We LOVE a good OGD 114 Old Fashioned :)
In my area our Woodman's Grocery store has it for $22 on their website, I have not tried this yet.
Best looking bottle next to weller
I just uncorked my first bottle last night!
I just bought a bottle of this the other day for $34 and you'll be the first time trying it tonight.
This is my go to for under $25.
Fantastic bourbon at a great price!
OGD is plain and simple, good shit.
Old grandad is just wonderful I always keep 2 however wild turkey rye 101 is a close relative except you can drink wt 101 without a great BIG hug
I got caramel corn 🌽, honey, and Cracker Jack peanut nuttiness on the back end. That peanut flavor was still on my tongue after a sip.
Just picked up my 1st bottle on a whim along with a bottle of weller. Haven’t opened yet but looking forward to it
OGD 114 is great in cocktails. It stands up like a premium without the premium price.
I get lots of peanut butter on this and I love it!
I’m sorry, but I’ll admit when I first tasted OGD114 I was disappointed. I always drink my bourbon neat and I swore the finish reminded me of DayQuil! Buuuuuutttt, mama ain’t raise no quitter, lol. Enjoy your reviews. Maybe you can do a overview of the proper glass to use with the way you choose to brink your beverage.
#NuttySquad #First #ODG114! #CannotWait #LoveTheBehindTheScenes
Nutty Squad Team Leader Jose!
One of the best bourbons ever.
I love some OGD 114! I go through it quick!
Gotta love OGD114, like an orange creamsicle
Love OGD 114!!!
This is a great bottle
Haven't had 114 yet, but I've been a long-time fan of OGD Bonded.
OGD 114. One of the best under $30!
Good morning y'all
Good morning!
OGD was had so much cinnamon I out it in my aging barrel and rounded it out. Did not get none of that honey or anything until I aged it
be nice to see you compare the regular Old Grand Dad with the Basil Hayden!!!!
Oh yeah, there's the famous English actor, Basil Rathbone.
minor flood ( 1 inch)..i see a bottle of 114 o pen 1989..and a bottle of crown 1977..still with the paper tape unopened..nice day
Really enjoy this bourbon but I bought 3 bottles not too long ago and something just doesn't taste right about it this new batch that I had just open. Hope the next 2 bottles taste like the old stuff.
