"I found a shiny and only cried for 20 minutes. But i played through and watched the ending of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers Of Sky: and only cried for 1 hour."
The people who made this game were geniuses. It was fun, the characters were well-crafted and weren't all static, and though it started out light-hearted, as the game progressed it got deeper and more meaningful, and the plot that followed was...just extraordinary. All the metaphors, like the sea of time (and the music was also one of the best parts of the game)...it was so powerful and well thought out. It was obvious that the producers took pride in creating a high-quality game. The real main character of this story was your partner. He/she had both an outer and inner quest, and as the story progressed, you helped your partner become more confident in their abilities and become more independent. It was a true hero's journey for your partner-through many trials, they developed the courage to protect what was important to them. I could honestly write multiple essays on this game. The game touched on deep subjects like existentialism, loss, and ethics that included sacrifice for the greater good. And the ending was, biased may I be, the most incredible ending to a video game that I have ever seen. For anyone that says this game is just for kids, they can't possibly understand the deeper themes that tie into it, the amount of thought that was put into each aspect of the game, or the sheer depth of the story and characters. All of this is my opinion, and thank you for creating such a wonderful game.
AnnaMarie Solorzano Well, it maked me do sad, how the franchise developped, the graphics of super and infinite give me depresssion, they ruined it so much I just wish that they make one with the great graphics and songs of time and rescue teams, im thinking of calling up nintendo and asking them, maybe even making a petition
*_Wow, i never thought a girl with a Chikorita picture in Profile would talk so much beautiful and serious things, i didn't cried at the end because i made some strength to not cry, ya know, i'm in a public space RIGHT NOW and yeah....TEARS CANT FALL DOWN and your comment made the opposite i was trying to do. At least no one saw it E_E_*
Step 1: Dont cry at Grovyle's sacrifice... try to Step 2: Beat Dialga Step 3: Try to man out the ending. Step 4: Roll credits... Step 5: Die on the inside when you get resurrected.
One of the reasons the ending scene was so powerful and emotional for me was the fact that it's the first time in the entire game where your character actually speaks. After hours and hours, so many adventures and experiences, so many memories. You've finally saved the world, and now, you speak your first and last (kinda) words to your partner, as you're forced to say goodbye. Such an incredible moment. It's personally my most memorable moment of gaming. Edit: Another reason this is so emotionally tearing is the fact that it's not another character dying, it's you. And the main reason that's sad or emotional isn't because of selfishness or anything. The main reason this is so touching is the fact that you now see firsthand the effect you've had on the world, and you see how you fading away affects your partner. If it were your partner fading away, you're expected to be the one feeling the pain, but that feeling may not be felt by some people. Plus, they already gave you that opportunity with Grovyle. But when it's YOU disappearing, you're forced to watch as your partner breaks down in tears, you're forced to see the massive impact you've had on their life. That way, there's no way the player can just shrug it off and say it isn't emotional, because you clearly see the impact on those around you. The feeling isn't implied, it's directly displayed through your partner. I can honestly say I'm not sure they could've set it up any better than they did. TL;DR: gud ending
I think it's not just the powerful goodbye of your character, but you also get to see what your partner goes through. Remember that at this point, your partner is with you the entire time. They're basically your second character, the one that helps you venture through this Pokemon world. When your character says goodbye, you get to see the entire grieving of your partner. Regardless, they still honor your last wish because, well, they've been your partner for so long. But that beach scene hones in on the tragedy: their faithful partner is gone. Your character begging your partner to not forget is, in a way, the game begging you not to forget.
One of the most powerful moments in this scene is 3:26, when your partner trips. They're so sad that they can barely keep standing, barely walk, but they know they have to. Jesus. Why can't more games be like this?
Noe Antonio Sierra Ortega it's not bad, but it moves too slowly and has alot of mechanics I don't care for, like the recruitment method and those bracelet things.
a lot of games have a character die at the end in a "tragic farewell" , its almost a trope now, but what made this game special is that it was one of the first games where it was YOU that was the one dying. It made this ending so strange and shocking, because, usually, with stories that feature sad deaths, usually everyone dies around you/the main character, but in here its you that gets to say that wise crackish speech of "never forget me" and seeing your friend grieve over you gives you a strong sense of empathy for the characters that few other games can truely create, and thats why this ending is simply magical.
+Hirotrum Spoilers cause of salty Darktn What super mystery dungeon did is different from all the other pokemon mystery dungeons. I expected the human to go away, but holy fuck, its your partner. Super mystery dungeon was so powerful, that it could even be in the same tier of explorers of sky, or even better.
I wanna beat up the IGN reviewer for giving this a 4.9. Sure the gameplay could get bad at times, but it made up for it with this beautiful music and marvelous story line. I would give it atleast a 8.
actually, on grovyle's side quest/story, he beat primal dialga's alterego after he took dusknoir back to future. everyone was going to die, all of future world was returning back to normal and everyone was surrounded by a light just like you were in after beating dialga in temporal tower. but something saved the future Pokemon. it was likely arceus since dialga and palkia couldn't do anything to save them.
Grovyles existence is a paradox. Meaning the past cannot be changed without his existence, but with the past being changed he cannot exist. Therefore he warps space-time and is forced to exist so long as the conditions creating the future remain the same (ie. as long as you finish the WHOLE game and stabilize the new timeline) That’s why you can evolve post game-
Also, just because I feel like this should be mentioned, I hope this game eventually gets a sequel, a direct one about this story, not one like Gates to Infinity. The same goes for this to get its own anime series, one that's ongoing like the main Pokémon anime.
You know, reading IGN's review of this game makes me want to just smack them across the face...I mean yes the gameplay can be a little clucky at times, and even a tiny bit repetitive. However, the game more than makes up for with a great story and great music. Oh and if you're wondering what they gave this masterpiece, they gave it a...4.9.
I remember the first time playing this as a kid and crying so hard through all the credits and then getting so happy when Dialga brought the main character back. The Dungeon games are a lot deeper than the main games in my opinion. I understand that some people dislike how different it is from the original games, but frick man, there was a STOCKADE in the CHILD'S game. I didn't even know what that was when I first played!
ntwari1125 True. I feel like the closest thing was Black/White/2, or maybe X/Y, both of which were *not* my favorite Generation (Pokemon-wise and story-wise)
1:08 Tear ducts start firing up 1:18 Tear ducts reach full power 1:33 Tears start building up 1:43 Tears start emerging forward 1:47 Tears reach the front of your eyes, sometimes small drops. 2:02 Tear ducts swell 2:19 On the brink of crying 2:35 Eyes become waterfalls
*Cry so much* I renember this when i was a little kid... When i see this video today, make me cry one more time... Oh my... Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is the saga games that make me cry so much, the friendship... Your new friends... Your new life... How a Pokemon... This moment with this music... In serious make me cry so much than the first... I don't have words now... You become me how a kid... Thank you by create this video and make my cry one more time...
Having a better ending than X and Y is like saying there's a better post game than X and Y. Not an accomplishment. Jokes aside, this is one of the saddest moments I've seen in a game
@@Lumbrax Like the conclusion of the story? Your partner is scarred, but there is beauty in the memories and in seeing the world you've saved. It is epic, if a bit energic, because at the end of the day you've saved everyone and peace is restored. It kinda turns your emotions from straight up sorrow to bitter pride. The switch in music tone also makes me think that lives moves on, which is both sad and good.
And all the while when you're fighting Dialga... Grovyle, Dusknoir, and Celebi are fighting Primal Dialga. It makes this scene even sadder knowing that not only do you dissapear, but that you are reunited with Grovyle. Taken from Grovyle again, and reunited now with your partner. It's really sad. I cry when I hear this song.
And the fact that Grovyle never comes back, he just disappears, is even more depressing. I remember holding back tears when I was younger playing this under my covers at night so I wouldn’t make any noise and it was so hard.
@@maximilianwonschik1304 That didn't exist in the original game, the special episodes only got added in explorers of sky, we never got to see that when playing explorers of time or darkness. And even then, he doesn't come back, he just stays in the future.
I liked to think if your partner was Treeko, he became your friend Grovyle, and he was helping himself in the past as well as you. He just couldn’t tell his past self they were the same Pokémon.
This is first pokemon game I've ever finished, for the main story. And never in my lifetime did I expectvsuch a deep story to come of it. I think what got me more was this ending. Nothing will beat it. Because so many stories have an awesome character sacrifice themselves four you. But this game did something new. It hurt harder, seeing yourself fade from the screen. It would hurt to see your best friend leave your side in the end, but it hurts worse when your best friend ends up feeling the pain you'd feel. You bonded with them, and all you, as the player, want is for them to be happy. This ending hit me hard, and will probably hit me just as hard when I decide to play this again in the future. This game will forever be my favorite
Cause mystery dungeon has a more endearing story, and main installments really aren’t that endearing unless if you really love the Pokémon that are available. Let us all remember how our partner also believed that everything was going to be ok after this, how he believed there would be a happy ending, just for that to be taken away, the only true thing he fought for to be lost after everything was said and done, how f@cked up is that? You lose the only true thing you fought for just after the fight is over, when it’s all supposed to be ok now. Also, Dialga would’ve been a dick and not revived the player if your partner never returned to the beach, cause then no memories would’ve flooded back, and no feelings of loss would’ve torn the partner’s heart out.
After finally mustering up enough sleep seed to finally take down Primal Dialga, I had to sit through this... Thirteen hours of connecting myself to a character that just disappears... He came back... But it wasn't the same!! It was never the same after that...
***** Have you played PMD Red Rescue Team? It tops this one for not being the same after the ending.. In Red Rescue Team, after you come back, your partner suggests that you be able to switch up the leader of the team.... and from that point on, your partner never follows you around town, never says anything, and just acts like a normal recruit. Even your player does! The player and partner are removed completely from the story.. the player and partner aren't special anymore. that's why I was so thrilled with Explorers of Sky. When Chimecho told us about being able to switch team leaders, I began to feel very sad because I thought my partner would be taken from me again... But then she said "But there will still be dungeons that only and will be able to go into"(or something close to that). When I read that, I realized that they had fixed my main problem with the previous game! Your partner still comes with you everywhere in the world, but isn't forced to come to every dungeon except ones relevant to the plot. They still talk to you, they still are a part of the story with you, they're still special, and not like the other recruits. I understand how you feel, I became very attached to my characters as well.. but for me I just keep coming up with new adventures for them in my head, and enjoy the gameplay and music as I do it.
Zichqec Yep. There was way too much ship tease between the Hero and Partner to have them suddenly forget the other existed. Come to think of it, every Mystery Dungeon game so far seems to favor them as a couple. The partners from EOS and GTI not being not being interested in Team Charm or Virizion when even the girls want them should say something. What I liked most about the ending's implications is this: Arceus saving Grovyle and co. by remaking the world for them implies the main timeline doesn't have a concrete future anymore. The bad future was guaranteed to occur since no pokemon knew what was causing the planet's paralysis and even the most hardened criminals refused to even touch a Time Gear. If Explorers continued beyond the Darkrai storyline, I wouldn't be surprised if the Dimensional Scream showed possible events that could occur in the future, instead of what will actually happen. It could have brought some interesting plot twists. Sorry about my rambling. ;d
Jim Shoe Don't worry about rambling, I love it. XD I think the reason they don't show any interest in Team Charm or Virizion is probably for the same reason that the main character(for the most part) does not talk. If the main character talks, it feels more like you're just controlling a puppet, but if they are silent, you can project yourself onto them. You can use your imagination to add any reactions or dialogue you want to make the character your own. By leaving things open, they allow you to freely change little parts of the story to however you want, while keeping the main plot mostly the same. I agree completely about the future. Since history was changed, we know for a fact that the planet will not be paralyzed, so we have no idea what will happen in the future. In fact, come to think of it, it kind of reminds me of Chrono Trigger. That's a really neat idea... The dimensional scream worked differently in the past and future(without any explanation.. XD), so why not work differently when there is no more concrete future? The player and partner blindly follow the dimensional scream because it was always accurate in the past, but now it only shows possibilities and would be very confusing until they figure it out. Although this raises a question.. the dimensional scream could show things that were about to happen in the future because it was set in stone, yes? well, the player coming to the past changed that. The player saw that Azurill was in danger, and rushed off with their partner and saved him. But this would change the future right? At least slightly, because Azurills life may have been drastically different if he had not been rescued. Sure, Drowzee was going to let him go, but the experience might have left him scarred forever. Maybe a better example would be the dimensional scream showing Grovyle attacking Azelf. If Grovyle was in the future that was set in stone, the things that had to happen, then why wasn't the planets paralysis being stopped a part of that? I'd better stop here before I get into a loop.. It's all so confusing when you start to time travel. What I think is that Dialga can bend time in such a way that it prevents small paradoxes and such from occurring, sort of how he brought the player back. Ahaha.. I think I got a bit carried away.. Sorry ^^' I'll stop here before I write an entire essay on this subject.. XD
Zichqec You aren't getting carried away. I'm glad to see someone else remembers the game. The planet being paralyzed was guaranteed. Since time essentially quit flowing, what Groyvle and co. did was probably quite like that. Small actions the player took thanks to the Dimensional Scream did not alter the bad future significantly enough to erase any major pokemon from it, for instance. It also only shows fragments of events, rather than the big picture. Arceus saving the bad future's pokemon suggests there can be alternate timelines. Dialga reviving the hero and saying he entrusted the future to him/her hints at this as well. The partner gets a fleshed out personality in the PMD games, especially in Explorers. A good portion of the game's lines come from the partner. The hero is the one who remains silent, usually. The partner deciding to consider Dusknoir an enemy because the hero said so helped me like the pairing even more. It's sweet how much they trust each other. Then there's the fact they raise Manaphy as his parents. I usually don't care for shipping, but the idea of my Riolu and Vulpix having a happy ending where they get to determine their own fate and end up being a couple is sweet to me. Plus, if either of them settled down, I doubt it would be with any other pokemon. The Dimensional Scream only showing possible futures after the Time Crisis would help add more drama/suspense to a fanfic... assuming I ever get around to making one, that is. ;d I know I talk too much about things I like, but it's so nice to nerd out sometimes. XD
Step 5: Drink More Step 6: Run Out Of Drinks And Non-Lethal Liquids To Drink Step 7: Get More And Thus Drink More Step 8: Run Out Of Drinks And Non-Lethal Liquids To Drink (All Over The Planet) Step 9: Drink The Potentially Lethal (And Definitely Lethal) Drinks Step 10: Run Out Of That (Across The World) Step 11: Die From Crying Too Much From The Scene, Thus Dying From Dehydration
Komashura Seriously this was such a heartbreaking moment in the game, I was an emotional kid back then... I'm 18 years old now, and nothing have changed :(
i'm 11 right now , at june ( or something like that ) i played the entire game , i cryed ... a lot i used a code cause i always got pikachu ( i was in emulator ) and my patner was eevee
The ending makes u realize how amazing of a friend bidoof is to your team, and can easily make u cry. Bidoof is a wholesome and kind pokemon, being there for your partner when the main character sadly dissapeared.
Time, Darkness, and Sky are the best Mystery Dungeon Games as of this point in my opinion. I like Mystery Dungeon as a whole, I just found the story in those three to be the best of them all at this point. I can't wait for the next one with gen VI pokemon.
I'm about to turn 17 in a few days, I remember getting this game on my birthday. Even to this day, I still tear up a bit, this is the most underrated game ever made
1. THIS SCENE WAS SO SAD :"(! I cried my heart out when I played this. 2. Ya, know I always thought about this scene in two ways. When the two pokemon are the same gender, I take it like a tale of a strong friendship. When they are different genders, it feels more like a love story than a tale of friendship. But that's just me :3.
+pokekatfanplus My partner was female (Skitty) and I was male (Riolu) but it felt 100% like a strong friendship to me ^^ It only takes first 5 minutes of the game to feel that it will be a strong friendship (when your partner says that having you at your side made him/her more confident to go into the guild). Confidence is more of a motivational friendship thing I think.
I beat Sky for the first time yesterday, and I cannot get over this ending. For those who don't know, I had this game for years. I played it a lot when I was a child and for eight long years I attempted to beat it until I kind of gave up. But I found it and played through it again and... I was lost in that feeling of OMFG I beat it that I didn't truly experience that heartbreak at the end. I was just so spent that I put my 3DS down after the credits, saved, and didn't even attempt the epilogue. I just had to experience the ending again. I think it would have had more impact if it was Françios and Lièyàn but I still teared up. Eight years of hardship. I can say it was worth spawning in all of those monster houses and being one shot by a not very effective crit. And I haven't even played the epilogue or evolved my Riolu or the Vulpix. For journeys done and many more on the way. Cheers!
What makes this scene hurt is the fact that your partner was a coward, always scared to face tough situations. After meeting you, they learn to be brave. You mean the world to them. For you to just disappear after saving the world without them knowing will crush their soul to broken pieces. The friendship you built after all this time…the two of your are soulmates, inseparable. The very best of friends who deserve the world.
PMD is for me one of the best series, instead of focusing on the humans' personalities it focuses on the pokemon personalities, makes them deeper, more varied and real, that is why when my squirtle left my partner riolu i cried because playing i created a link so big with my partner, this game goes on top of my favourite game list, even surpassing halo reach.
Yes. Both Reach and PMD2 hit me hard, I only got to play Reach this year during quarantine, and picked his game up only 2 weeks ago. I'm glad I got the chance though. Both I will remember for decade to come, if not my lifetime.
Same i have created a link so big with my panther Pikachu and i was a mudkip i cried so much in the final and for me this game is the best mystery dugeon in history
My nose is so runny from crying. Oh my god I can't- these mystery dungeons always break my heart... I mean the music. It's so amazing and it fits with these text lines. I'm like crying really hard
For a video game, this actually broke my heart... This and FFX... It was too much >.< Though having Pikachu as a partner doesnt help when you grow up knowing Pikachu...
I always thought this vid was sad, because I always cried a few tears. Then I played through the whole game, got to this point and... Let's just say I still cry when I think of it , and I finished it half a month ago.
This whole ending is sad as hell, but the part that fucks me up the most is that scene right before the credits when your partner basically breaks down crying on the beach, that’s some crippling level of depression kind of shit. Then the credits roll and your last thoughts of the game (before your character comes back) are imagining your partner living their life constantly depressed by the loss of their best friend
When I was a kid what made me cry was right at the end. Months later your partner walks to the place we both first met then recalls the entire journey and breaks down crying.
watch the bubble scene at the beginning and the ending of the game... the feeling, just so different, so many words to describe it, i only want to say, this is just so briliant, so much feeling poured into this game, and i have no regret from it, and still... i remember this game somehow... even after long time passed since i play this game.
Isn’t it nice when you, the only thing your partner ever fought for, are taken from your partner just after everything is said and done, just before the happy ending should’ve rolled, and your partner had to have that torn from it just after the fighting was over? Who doesn’t love realizing the true extent of tragic pain? It gets even better once one realizes exactly how much Grovyle has lost, even losing you in a way, to have literally almost nothing except a you who doesn’t know him help out while another takes his place as your partner. Oh yeah, and then realizing that Dialga would’ve never brought you back if your partner didn’t visit the beach and fall apart. There are a lot of moments in this game that are present but hidden, and I love it.
I remember hysterically crying to the ending. I was Cyndaquil and my partner was Mudkip. I was like scream crying when I saw Mudkip get sad and desperate. Then worse when he was on the beach reminiscing of our adventures. It was awful to see my partner that I got so attached to mourn my character’s death. That’s such a realistic display of emotion and grief. This game has a special place in my heart ❤
Farewells are always hard, and this game PERFECTLY shows it. You may cry after they leave, they may cry after you, but no matter what, two separated souls will ALWAYS rejoin each other... This game represents this. More perfect than any game Ik.
Nobody is prepared for this the first time, i was 7 years old when i cried for this, now i am 21, time goes on, and I still renember this game, I still seeing me as a kid, I miss that time so so much. A game never made me cry since this one
I can't believe as a very old school Poke fan (when it first came out in the late 90s here in the USA and I remember playing and beating Pokemon Yellow for gameboy color when I was about 10 years old), I took up playing this Mystery Dungeon game on an emulator and actually bought the NDS cartridge a few days ago (I rarely buy games now that I'm older because I only stick to a certain that I've liked over the years), but then took a look at its ending today on TH-cam because I knew it had a long storyline. This video basically explains why you, as the player and main hero of this Pokemon game, has so little dialogue in comparison to your partner from what I've seen on the game so far. The ending up to the credits from what I've seen from these videos, is sad as everyone says. I agree. But what makes me think of this part (before what happens after the credits), is heart-wounding sad and does it for me, is when your partner Pokemon character can't take the pain anymore after months of being separated from you and falls apart on the beach at the very end right before the credits..., because he/she truly loves you as their friend and you're gone from them... That is a truly priceless thing to see from a game like this and especially a Pokemon one, about real life when a loved one or close friend of yours, dies. Even if it does hurt. Talk about laying down one's life for a friend as written in the holy bible. People should think about things like this. I'm still gonna try and finish this game sometime soon and see what completely happens after the credits and not spoil that part to myself, as I'm really liking it so far and I have to say, out of all the Pokemon games that I've played in the last two decades, this is turning out to be the best, so far. I'm pretty sure it's going to hurt again if I make it to the very end of it, just before the credits. Seeing my own Poke partner fall apart because, I, the hero is gone from her. But I'm glad the creators who came up with the idea for Pokemon creatures actually BEING the characters in the Mystery Dungeon series, actually did so. Because I remember seeing the first episode of the TV show back in 2006 (this is what made me want to see this series games and trying Explorers of Sky in the first place because of this memory and what I had been reading), and I didn't think they would do something like this given the original concept of human Pokemon trainers capturing and training them. And who knows what was going through the creators minds when they made this Mystery Dungeon series games.
The bit that always gets me the most is the ending when your character is revived because there's no dialogue. It's purely acted out through emotion and physical expression which is so beautiful. The way your partner collapses in front of you from sheer joy and happiness is so touching to watch.
I was so happy when my Riolu reunited with his Partner Charmander at the end. When Riolu disappeared after defeating Dialga i honestly thought this will be another of those endings where main Hero just dies or leaves for good. I'm glad i was mistaken. Just because of this ending, i started to respect Dialga a lot more.
when you can personally relate to this it really hits so fucking hard. its a beautiful ending, but my god it hurts watching this shit, especially when your partner breaks down at the beach after all those flashbacks.
I wish there were more games like this, so good. I hate IGN for rating this game so bad. I bet they just rated it based on how it just looked. Shame on them all, shame.
This is the game that really knocked a sense of existential dread into my young little brain and just absolutely *fucked me up* as a kid. I remember being so utterly emotional over it that I made my brother “beat” the game for me (aka finish out the cutscene) so I could go get a handle on my tears elsewhere lmao
3:02 I have to get home *alive* Never has there been any serious implication of death outside of dangerous hazards. It really goes to show how dark your partner feels after perhaps having untold, but hinted at suicidal thoughts, if you telling them that they “have to live no matter what” as any indication
I will always remember the theme and my fateful partner in this game, I ypthank you and whoever posts these for the joyful tears! I have never been able to cry in my life until this game entered life, cause I am higher functioning autism and it causes me to not know what any of my emotions are
im 19 and this shit still makes me cry, most people probably dont think much about this game because its a dungeon crawler but the story is one of the best ive ever played through
"I'll have you know I only cried at this for 20 minutes"
"I found a shiny and only cried for 20 minutes. But i played through and watched the ending of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers Of Sky: and only cried for 1 hour."
+Baby Luigi "One does not simplyt cry only for 20 minutes in this game"
***** yes
+Baby Luigi "you monster, ¿only 20 minutes?"
I didn't actually cry but I swear the feels lasted like-a week.
Why would you even do that Nintendo?
You cruel people XD

F$&% THIS S$%* IM OUT
Playing without OST : pretty sad but that's all.
Playing with OST : crying like hell.
Cracotte06 OST?
Original soundtrack (Also known as OST)
I would say: Crying rivers and oceans
Cause you have a Choice 🤣
Step 1: lay down. Step 2: try not to cry.
Step 3: cry a lot.
Step 1: Beat dialga and be happy
Step 2: Hope that Grovyle lied
step 3: Cry ALOT
Step 1: Dont cry at Grovyle's sacrifice... try to
Step 2: Beat Dialga
Step 3: Try to man out the ending.
Jesus
And I thought these comments couldn't get any longer
" If it were your partner fading away" Well in SMD, your partner fades away, they broke the formula!
woah, thanks for the spoilers my man. good shit.
Ryast because gates to infinity and super mystery dungeon happened.

mrthenekin Super Mystery Dungeons was great! What are you talking about?!
a lot of games have a character die at the end in a "tragic farewell" , its almost a trope now, but what made this game special is that it was one of the first games where it was YOU that was the one dying.

What super mystery dungeon did is different from all the other pokemon mystery dungeons.

I would give it atleast a 8.

man I feel bad for grovyle, nobody revived him. Also he had to deal with sacrificing his life for his best friend who didn't even remember him.
He was,all Pokemon from the future were brought back, just stuck in the future witch is no longer frozen (play grovelle's episode)
Braeden Martin Dialga essentially created a pocket dimension of the alternate timeline
Sriram Ramesh can u please explain it.. about grovile
actually, on grovyle's side quest/story, he beat primal dialga's alterego after he took dusknoir back to future. everyone was going to die, all of future world was returning back to normal and everyone was surrounded by a light just like you were in after beating dialga in temporal tower. but something saved the future Pokemon. it was likely arceus since dialga and palkia couldn't do anything to save them.
Grovyles existence is a paradox. Meaning the past cannot be changed without his existence, but with the past being changed he cannot exist. Therefore he warps space-time and is forced to exist so long as the conditions creating the future remain the same (ie. as long as you finish the WHOLE game and stabilize the new timeline)
That’s why you can evolve post game-

Man, looking back, this game had a really touching story. That's why it's the best in the series, in my opinion.
Also, just because I feel like this should be mentioned, I hope this game eventually gets a sequel, a direct one about this story, not one like Gates to Infinity. The same goes for this to get its own anime series, one that's ongoing like the main Pokémon anime.
Matt Ascencion Gates to Infinity had such a bad ending that just went on and on lol. But aw man, an anime series would be awesome.

You know, reading IGN's review of this game makes me want to just smack them across the face...I mean yes the gameplay can be a little clucky at times, and even a tiny bit repetitive. However, the game more than makes up for with a great story and great music.

PileOfPancakes agreed
The dungeon mystery series are way better than the regular Pokemon games to me.
Having a better ending than X and Y is like saying there's a better post game than X and Y. Not an accomplishment. Jokes aside, this is one of the saddest moments I've seen in a game

@@johang727 well, I guess is subjective, because the credits song made it even better for me, idk how to explain it.

I remember holding back tears when I was younger playing this under my covers at night so I wouldn’t make any noise and it was so hard.
i remember huntimg for a grovyle and teaching him all the same moves but still feeling like i couldnt replace him
@@shane_borowski I dont want to spoil you but just play the special mission 5 "a dark future"
Well, now we have Explorers of Heaven, best opportunity to replay it
Nine seconds in and I'm already crying... Too many memories...
What I liked most about the ending's implications is this:
Arceus saving Grovyle and co. by remaking the world for them implies the main timeline doesn't have a concrete future anymore.
XD
I think the reason they don't show any interest in Team Charm or Virizion is probably for the same reason that the main character(for the most part) does not talk.
The Dimensional Scream only showing possible futures after the Time Crisis would help add more drama/suspense to a fanfic... assuming I ever get around to making one, that is. ;d
I know I talk too much about things I like, but it's so nice to nerd out sometimes. XD

X Gamer I was mistaken. It is the scene RIGHT before the Credits that broke me.
Even Pokemon of the same gender can be in love :p
+Chris M i guess.

As someone who lost a close friend because of the passage of time this ending hit me really hard.
How come whenever I watch some sad parts in anime I don't shed even a tear but when I watch this you could bottle my tears and sell them on ebay

Hey um who put this bowl of onions next to me
... OH! I see what you did there! Pulled a reference out of SpongeBob!
Man tomorrow it's 2022 and no one made a game like this
Isn’t it nice when you, the only thing your partner ever fought for, are taken from your partner just after everything is said and done, just before the happy ending should’ve rolled, and your partner had to have that torn from it just after the fighting was over? Who doesn’t love realizing the true extent of tragic pain?
It gets even better once one realizes exactly how much Grovyle has lost, even losing you in a way, to have literally almost nothing except a you who doesn’t know him help out while another takes his place as your partner.
Oh yeah, and then realizing that Dialga would’ve never brought you back if your partner didn’t visit the beach and fall apart. There are a lot of moments in this game that are present but hidden, and I love it.
To be fair, he still has shiny Celebi in the future.

I tear up every time...
omg same
Rebellious Treecko That's what got me on my first playthrough.
that part broke me ;-;
Music just hits you right in the feels
If you don't cry?
...You're not human.
k den see ya on mars
same
+Ian Glatt i will have you know i only cried for 2 weeks.
Crap now I dont know who I am (didnt cry,but i tried) psMystery Dunegon is VERY sad but I just cant cry at this one its weird :l
casey h. if you cried on the inside it counts
dialga you da reel MVP
Nobody is prepared for this the first time, i was 7 years old when i cried for this, now i am 21, time goes on, and I still renember this game, I still seeing me as a kid, I miss that time so so much. A game never made me cry since this one
This is one of the saddest things i've ever experienced.I cried more watching this then in my entire life.
You know you’re awesome when not even the destruction of your own timeline is able to take away your existence
We'll never get another PMD game like this, A masterpiece like this is and will always be sadly unique for those who found meaning and crave more.
The most saddest pokemon mystery dungeon game

No way... I named him Aaron too!
I think aaron is that lucario aura guy with the weird hat
The bit that always gets me the most is the ending when your character is revived because there's no dialogue. It's purely acted out through emotion and physical expression which is so beautiful. The way your partner collapses in front of you from sheer joy and happiness is so touching to watch.
TeaLeaves Wait so not saying anything brings the character back?
I was so happy when my Riolu reunited with his Partner Charmander at the end. When Riolu disappeared after defeating Dialga i honestly thought this will be another of those endings where main Hero just dies or leaves for good. I'm glad i was mistaken. Just because of this ending, i started to respect Dialga a lot more.
I played this game when I was a little kid and I almost cry when I see this scene :') I learned a lot with pokemon.
*why am I crying over digital sprites for the 16th time*
It's nice to see Aaron give Sparky one final smile before death.
**casually walks away and cries for 37 minutes**
Mr Sparky, I don’t feel so good
Nooo u just did...
when you can personally relate to this it really hits so fucking hard. its a beautiful ending, but my god it hurts watching this shit, especially when your partner breaks down at the beach after all those flashbacks.
WHEN DID MY EYES BECOME WATERFALLS?!?!!?!?!?
Who were the 15 soulless people who disliked this?
Kyle Bartley I might because the audio is so shit
+Stretch Punchbeef Fair point.
IGN Reviewers
+18=33
The people at ign who gave this a 4.9 and didnt even talk about the story
Ooh, bloody hell, I'm crying over a video game, I don't want to play this game anymore... I just... too many feels.
***** That is very true, the games have a good balance of variety. A balance of humour, sad scenes, adventures and etc.
***** So... true...
God, I
I wish there were more games like this, so good. I hate IGN for rating this game so bad. I bet they just rated it based on how it just looked. Shame on them all, shame.
The saddest part was seeing your partner have a complete meltdown.
Alduin the Anti-Dragonborn true. It doesn't look like much, but THE STORY is great and THE FEEEELLLLSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
SPARKY!! I TOLD YOU TO STOP CUTTING ONIONS!
Oh My God! Who is chopping the onions?!
Scezipert Ranger Shrek is.
lel
It's been 7 years now ever since I played it and I'm still crying over to this scene.
Same man, it hits harder when a loved one irl passes away
3:02 I have to get home *alive*
Never has there been any serious implication of death outside of dangerous hazards. It really goes to show how dark your partner feels after perhaps having untold, but hinted at suicidal thoughts, if you telling them that they “have to live no matter what” as any indication
Why did I get recommended this? I don't want to cry again bro...
This hits harder when you notice it’s the first time you talk
Friend lost my copy of EOS.
Watched this.
Tried not to cry.
Nostalgia hits me.
Cries like a baby.
I cried SO SO HARD when Pikachu said " Aaron's last wish
I cried tons watching this, but also laughed because you named your Riolu Aaron. There's a steel type pokemon named Aron.
The Mystery dungeon games give you the emotional stuff that the mainstream pokemon games never seem to have
who would have thought that this side series pokemon game, primarily marketed towards kids would be one of the best written RPGs ever made
I was laughing at everybody who was saying « omg i cried again this fucked me up as a kid » , i just endend up crying like everyone 😭😭😭😭
I will always remember the theme and my fateful partner in this game, I ypthank you and whoever posts these for the joyful tears! I have never been able to cry in my life until this game entered life, cause I am higher functioning autism and it causes me to not know what any of my emotions are
*sob* only time I cried in pokemon
*cries*
I know its just a game, but the music, the dialog, the pictures, WANTS ME TO CRY MY EYES OUT. :''(
Best. ending. ever.
No doubt.
Emotional, unexpected, horrifiying sad, and then, the happy end!
Its amazing
I'm not crying, you are.
YOU ARE WA
im 19 and this shit still makes me cry, most people probably dont think much about this game because its a dungeon crawler but the story is one of the best ive ever played through
