I played this game as a 7 year old and now i look back at it and now i understand why i cried so much playing it most sad part was when they got chased out of the town
"Take charge of your destiny!" Well said quote by Rayquaza. The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series is such a great series of games! Glad that it has been going on for as long as it has and that we have a new title on the way that looks really promising!
+Jasmine grace Maney Of course not :o I am still playing it because I was literally a toddler when the game came out. It's the only game that makes me cry. :')
Just bought this game again for DS, I gotta say I prefer the 2D graphics rather than the new 3D ones and the story is better than any of the newer PMD games.
+Bobby O As much as I love Rescue Team, I don't think the games that came afterwards are worse then Rescue Team (except maybe Gates to Infinity which also wasn't that bad). In terms of story, I think Explorers' story is better (though the simplicity of Rescue Team's story has it's charm). Graphics while the 2D has it's charm, I think the 3D works too. And I heard that the newest entry, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon is a great Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game. I wish I could play PSMD, but I have to wait until February.
+Rik N Story wise, PSMD is great... but it's just so damn easy like wtf, I hate the 'connections' part of the game. Pokemon like Dragonite & Salamance are just given to you 3 hours in the game... not fun to play post game.
15 years later, I have finally completed the game: I have beaten Wish Cave and Purity Forest, the hardest dungeons, as a grown adult... No matter, I'll always carry this game in my heart.
Have you played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon explorers of Sky? The story is absolutely amazing and so emotional. The story gets pretty dark and the "Special Episode 5" that is played after the main story is over is the best Pokemon moment ever... Really you should try this game, or at least watch a non-commentary walkthrough to hear the beautiful music with the game!!
Dang, I missed out on so much in my childhood. I didn't start playing these games until this year. The endings to these games are amazing. But, the most emotional part of the series is the part where you become a fugitive.
man it always hit right in the feels when this happened in explorers and blue rescue team but i was always thinking what about my human family. it was till gates to infinity did i realise when you save and quit thats when you go back to human world. man mystery dungeon was awesome im so sad the old ones are long gone now they had awesome storys and provided just as much fun as main series games.
When I played the game for the first time I din't know there was a after game so I was sad ;( but since I know you come back now I don't cry anymore! :)
this was my very first pokemon game.. six years ago i was a young skitty, alone with my dear friend tom the totodile.. the whole world was after us.. yet we saved them all... i will never forget this game. i don't care how fancy the graphics are in the new games, or the enhanced features... this game will always be closest to my heart.
Yeah, this game is beyond majestic. I played this game again a few weeks ago finished yesterday, and the ending had let me cry again. Good memories!!!! And i am crying again.
I'm still crying with this even though many many years have passed since the time I actually played. I even watched this thing with DX too, but it's the old one that hits my heart. I just keep watching this again and again...
Hmm... I see the importance of the ending but like... What about his family? Hell, if he could wish and wished hard enough he could just wish that the team would be right by his house when he became a human again.
Jesus christ i remember playing it when i was six or five for the first time.My first gameplays were messed up because i didn't realize how to move the characters. After a bit i started with myself as a bulbasaur and my partner as a charmander.I finished the game when i was like 8 or 9. Almost four years has passed and i'm still crying.
Imagine if in the human world in the PMD universe is the trainer universe and after returning to the human world you start your journey and your starter Pokemon is the same species of Pokemon as your partner in the Mystery Dungeon universe only to find out later on it's the same exact partner. Proving that you do meet again.
I remember when I had Pikachu as my partner in this game while I first started off as Torchic.. The Heartbreak from my partner was freaking real.. That's Pikachu expressions in a nutshell.. You feel a whole lot more bad than usual..
Came back here and just listened to it in preparation for the remakes. I’m so excited to see this in HD and hear it in HQ. Even just listening it brought a tear to my eye.
Hey, Chikorita was my partner too, but I was a charmander. This was the first game I played where the storyline touched me, and I cried a little bit when we were exiled, and when I had to go back to the human world. This game kinda made me realize what a true friend is: someone who trusts you at all times, and who will always be there to help you, even if the whole world is against you... and the music was always fitting. This game was just awesome.
Just finally beat this game after having left this game for years and never beating it, It's an amazing game and I still play it after the ending. Now I want to get Explorers of Sky :D
Gosh... I remember when I first got this game. I was so excited. When I beat it, I didn't cry, but I could feel the tears... I cried watching this, I really miss this game now...
My God... It's been almost 11 years since this video was out. I've recently bought Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, and I bought Explorers of Time and Darkness in 2009. My heart hurts so much right now, it's so hard to breathe... :'(
when i saw you had to leave i stoped the thing and cried for 15 minutes then i decided to play the credits and i swear i said thank you god beacause you got to see youre friend again
There's something very compelling about the Mystery Dungeon series. The story and music come together to create an experience that goes deeper than other Pokemon games. It's absolutely wonderful, and it's too bad this series hasn't made too much headway into the fandom. Overall, this game's very much underrated, in my opinion.
What makes this ending so sad is the fact that just like in the anime, humans and Pokemon have an extremely strong bond of love and trust, (which allows them to mega evolve in the games and anime by the way) and even though the main character in this game is a Pokemon, he/she was once a human and the ally you get in this game is 100% Pokemon so that bond formed with them as they traveled together, plus at the beginning of the game, it's revealed to the partner you get early in the game that you are a human turned Pokemon, and they don't mind one bit, and neither do any other Pokemon you recruit to your team. Also to clear it up, your ally Pokemon is slumping in front of the base at the end like that because that's where you live not them as they live in the field off to the left of your base and only enter your base if they are with you as you control your character by walking around and are sad because as far as they know your never coming back, so the base is going to be empty forever, as your not there to occupy it anymore. In my opinion, even if the game didn't return you to them as a Pokemon, if you met again as a human they probably wouldn't recognize you anyway. At least that's what I think. Oh yeah and before you fight the sky Deity, the cutscene after Gengar drags you to safety is slightly different if you can manage to get a wild Pokemon or two to join you first BEFORE you fight him, as your partner worries about them to, also for that to happen of course, they must survive the fight first. Try it if you can, just remember that in order to “catch” wild Pokemon in these games as you the main character must deliver the killing shot to the Pokemon your fighting not your partner, and it's a 50/50 chance, so to make this easier don't have your partner be a Pikachu as they can attack from behind you with Quick attack which covers two squares of the field, and almost all of your allies can learn it, and yes it's possible to be an Eevee in this game, they are of the naive nature and are only girls, so try it if you want. Also to make catching legendary Pokémon easier or any Pokemon for that matter, utilize the games ability to let you control only one character after the ending, and try to get to level 100 for best results, likewise you can't evolve yourself or ally until AFTER the shooting star is destroyed as apparently it was preventing you from evolving, but first of course you must do a series of events to actually get it to happen, just remember Pikachu's only evolve with a thunder stone.
The musiccue at 6:47 is so awesome... This game is my top nostalgic game. This is so much better than CoD or Fortnite... I miss the times when games like these were made like this.
omg, this ending song made me cry first time, i was upset coz i thought i neede to complete the game and get all the pokemon recruited before the credits, but i realised that it doesnt end that way. but the song anytime i hear it makes me feel sad
I am 5 starring and favoriting this! This ending is by far the best ending I have ever seen in a game. In fact, I cry everytime I see it! I'm a guy too, lol! The thought of having to leave all the friends you met, especially your partner and everyone that has helped you just gets to me because of how attached you get to them! Then they say "Perhaps you will meet again" and go to the credits is amazing! They leave you thinking THAT is how the game ends until the credits are over. BRILLIANT!
Gardevoir: boys, you saved the world, also, I'm Gardevoir pikachu: thanks Gardevoir chikorita: thanks gulpin, Gardevoir Gardevoir: it's time to go to heaven my child *grabs pikachu* pikachu: Espeon what are you doing? If you get the reference, good for you.
i remember when i played this game the first time. I got SO inmersed in the story, seriously, i lived it! xD I spent a big part of my summer mornings playing. And when I went through the ending, I cried like a baby hahaha :) That's why I'll always love this game
the game is not the same at the end cuz if u talk 2 ur partner it says same thing differnt than b4 and u get it talking 2 you after like when u had 2 fun away ing the game i miss that :'( and i loveed the Credit music i wish thatu can lisson 2 it agen :')the game was very touching i loved it i hope the 2ed game of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is just as good or even better :) thanks 4 puting this up
I can remember when I played this game the first time. I named the main character after me and my partner after my best friend. That made it even more heartrending. ;~;
I was crying at the end because it was bittersweet either way- if he goes back to the human world then he'll never see Chikorita (or whatever friend he has) again as well as this whole Pokemon world he's come to love. But if he stays a Pokemon forever then he'll never get to grow up and experience the wonders of the human world like falling in love. Overly analytical I know but that's what was going through my mind when the game finished.

I swear, that part was even more emotional than the ending. I bawled at that fugitive part. I didn't even shed a tear at the actual ending.
damn the bromance between the main character and the support character is strong in this game
OgahzLoL
The support character is a girl.
The Jolly DJ arent all pokemon genderless in PMD?
KoniKoni Trainer Will
Idk.
KoniKoni Trainer Will only in red and blue rescue team.
There are genders in the first two mystery dungeon games, and you choose them. But both of my character in both were guys, so yeah, bromances...
Rayquarza: I WILL NEVER HELP!
Chikorita: Look up and then say that again.
Rayquarza: ... I won't... Fuck.
Rayquaza*
lmao chikorita is smart
"Take charge of your destiny!" Well said quote by Rayquaza. The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series is such a great series of games! Glad that it has been going on for as long as it has and that we have a new title on the way that looks really promising!
8 years...8 fu**ing years!
Dayum I feel old now!

RileyTheVideoGuy
you get the point what I mean XD
+MasterXG Is it bad that i still play this hahha?
+Jasmine grace Maney Of course not :o I am still playing it because I was literally a toddler when the game came out. It's the only game that makes me cry. :')

Just bought this game again for DS, I gotta say I prefer the 2D graphics rather than the new 3D ones and the story is better than any of the newer PMD games.
Which pokemon dungeon is this again?
The3rdAndOnly Trumpeteeer red and blue rescue team

***** Easy? I heard and witnessed opposite stories. PSMD is the hardest is what people say.
This ending brings tears to me. Everything is perfect, the storyline and music, everything
Wish wish you a very good day
cry...
when i reached the end of this i cry
a good game dont need good graphics
only need a good history
The graphics make the game. There couldn't have been better graphics
You are right
What? The graphics are pretty damn good
i cried as a kid and i still cry now. such a good game. ;'(
Jesus Christ I can't believe it's been 9 years since the first time I completed this awesome game...
Boi i still haven't beaten the game
15 years later, I have finally completed the game: I have beaten Wish Cave and Purity Forest, the hardest dungeons, as a grown adult... No matter, I'll always carry this game in my heart.
like if you thought when the credits started you thought that was the end and there no heart-warming ending
Time to jump on the feel train.
And the feel train...
Makes no stops.
No matter how old you become, or how many times you play it.. the end always gets you crying

I love that game. My whole 10 year old self revolved around it.
Sorry, I thought you needed them.
Dang, I missed out on so much in my childhood. I didn't start playing these games until this year. The endings to these games are amazing. But, the most emotional part of the series is the part where you become a fugitive.

7:06 CRYING CATERPIE OH NOOOOO D,:
The part that really gets me in this is when you see Chikorita crying at 7:26. THAT is what pierces my heart like a stake was driven through it.
this was my very first pokemon game.. six years ago i was a young skitty, alone with my dear friend tom the totodile..
the whole world was after us.. yet we saved them all...

My friend cried at this and claims he's going to eat me because I didn't.
Dalailthis how did you not cry?
Flame Palkia Probably because I had a bad day or something...
Dalailthis well that is reasonable.
"I'm now adrift... as a spirit."
Blue rescue team be like "yeah you fuckin died lol"
This game is a reason why I'm deeply in love with Guardevoir

Me since I already beat the game 3 times lol
me
marvel pardede what !! why my friend ?

here we go again, I'm crying my eyes out.
Hmm... I see the importance of the ending but like... What about his family? Hell, if he could wish and wished hard enough he could just wish that the team would be right by his house when he became a human again.
10 years and still gives me tears...
I seriously let a tear roll down my cheek when your pokemon left. It's so sad even for a game.. :')
Jesus christ i remember playing it when i was six or five for the first time.My first gameplays were messed up because i didn't realize how to move the characters. After a bit i started with myself as a bulbasaur and my partner as a charmander.I finished the game when i was like 8 or 9. Is it just me or did the music playing at 6:46 sounds vaguely like Gladion's theme
I remember when I had Pikachu as my partner in this game while I first started off as Torchic..
The Heartbreak from my partner was freaking real.. That's Pikachu expressions in a nutshell.. You feel a whole lot more bad than usual..
It's addressed in Gates to Infinity.
Came back here and just listened to it in preparation for the remakes. I’m so excited to see this in HD and hear it in HQ.
Even just listening it brought a tear to my eye.
5 years later this still makes me cry like I did the first time.
almost 11 years holy shit the memories :')

this is 6 years old. and still a classic :')
Oh, man...
This game...
It really made my cry... back then...
Come to think of, this is six years ago already!!
Strange how powerful certain games leave marks in your life and defying time!
13:00 as a kid and right now i spent lots of tears of joy
when i saw you had to leave i stoped the thing and cried for 15 minutes then i decided to play the credits and i swear i said thank you god beacause you got to see youre friend again
Another thing...
Rayquaza's quote:
"Take charge of your destiny"
That line is one of the rare inspirational quotes coming from characters these days..
I love this game too. I'm addicted to the storyline. The ending still always makes me want to cry too.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is a milestone in the history of storylines. It should get like an Oscar or something...only for video games.
This and pokemon diamond are the best pokemon games in my opinion this is so sad but if you watch until after the credits you don't feel so bad.
Blue mystery dungeon was my first Pokemon game and will always be my favorite.Luckily I still have it:)
What ever happened to Pokémon being this good, if you don’t cry from this ending you have no heart.
You remember when you were sittin on the couch and then you cried to the gba because you were scared that the game is over
The musiccue at 6:47 is so awesome... This game is my top nostalgic game. This is so much better than CoD or Fortnite... I miss the times when games like these were made like this.
>this video was uploaded ten years ago
Fuck...
LOL IKR XD
Ninjini Ionized A decade old. Jesus I feel old already. Memory's always come back to this day when we first played this amazing catastrophic game...
omg, this ending song made me cry first time, i was upset coz i thought i neede to complete the game and get all the pokemon recruited before the credits, but i realised that it doesnt end that way.
but the song anytime i hear it makes me feel sad
that was genius both mystery dungeon and mystery dungeon an ending that will make anyone cry
I cry a bit everytime i watch this, such a touching ending, especially the last part.
You find the hidden machine fly in a room on wyvern hill's 30th floor, but a key is required for access to the locked room it is in
Man , I'm a boy and I cried a lot at the ending ... everyone sad ... and you trying to stay with them ... =´[
Congratulatoins on beating the game! Thank you for posting the scenes! I like your team name. Super Smash Bros. Melee, right?
I'm jealous of Xatu. He looks into the sun all day from atop of a canyon and can see into the future. If I did that, I'd go blind.
That kick drum and bass.....
BRILLIANT!
this game was so emotional it was so sad how u became an outcast to every1 hunted down with only ur best freind
I don't understand. I just stumbled upon this video having not played the game, yet tears are streaming.
this makes me remember my old friend someday we might see each other again like the story of this game
charizard sad face makes it more sadder
Wow the end of these games are some real tear jerkers whew. Man or not those really wanna make you just sit down and shed tears!

chikorita: thanks gulpin, Gardevoir
Gardevoir: it's time to go to heaven my child *grabs pikachu*
pikachu: Espeon what are you doing?
Gardevoir: stop it, don't fight, stop fighting.
pikachu: AHHHHHH!
Gardevoir: ch ch ch.
pikachu: AH CHIKORITA, HELP
Gardevoir: stop
pikachu: HELP
Gardevoir: let's go to heaven
pikachu: HELP ME
Gardevoir: s- wait
*everyone throws rocks*
Lombre: Hey, let that kid go!
*pikachu gets pelted with rocks*
Gardevoir: fuck this!
* Gardevoir flies away while pikachu falls to the ground*.
If you get the reference, good for you.
I fucking love you so much for this
It's amazing how pre evolutions or (in pikachu's case) mid tier evolutions with pre evo's stats can beat a fucking rayquaza.
i remember when i played this game the first time. I got SO inmersed in the story, seriously, i lived it! xD I spent a big part of my summer mornings playing. And when I went through the ending, I cried like a baby hahaha :) That's why I'll always love this game
Still a better love story than Twilight
Amen.
My altime favourite Pokemon game for the DS, I remember loosing my save file and having to redo the game all over again
I don't know how they defeated me. I suppose that I was tired, there was no way that those pipsqueaks beat me.
Hi me :D
oh my gosh.. i caught you shiny, at level 99, first try, with a timer ball, in diamond and pearl.
I don't remember that Thomas van zoelen
***** u helped me beat ZInnia u remember that
TheTimidGardevoir How could I forget? Ah, good times
best pokemon story right here
all pokemon games i have played white, firered ,etc.
all have emotional endings
and when i think about i cry out loud!
The ending really tears me up...
This is the reason why I love this game... =')
I can't stop watching it. And every time I do I cry D:
the game is not the same at the end cuz if u talk 2 ur partner it says same thing differnt than b4 and u get it talking 2 you after like when u had 2 fun away ing the game i miss that :'( and i loveed the Credit music i wish thatu can lisson 2 it agen :')the game was very touching i loved it i hope the 2ed game of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon is just as good or even better
:) thanks 4 puting this up
I'm sorry, but this will forever be the best ending to any mystery dungeon game. It tug my heartstrings every time
I can remember when I played this game the first time.
I named the main character after me and my partner after my best friend.
That made it even more heartrending. ;~;
Still a better love story than Twilight. XD -Sorry, had to say it.-
why'd it cross out "Sorry, had to say it."
Mystery Dungeon (this one as well as Mystery Dungeon 2) rule to make people cry. They're such amazing games
This in my opinion is the best (or one of them) games in the entire world it's just so happy then it's so sad and then it's happy again!
After you beat it, you get to go into tougher dungeons, battle more legends, evolve your Pokemon, and you also get new friend areas (some new friend areas are reserved for legends).
