Early 90s were more of a rejection of this kind of polished music in favor of the grunge style. If this would have been made in the late 90s it would have taken off.

This whole video is a massive 60's throwback. Pretty much like everything else in the 90's. The 90's were a repeat of the swinging sixties (particularly in the U.K.), I can remember it well. It was a magical time to come of age.
I think it's called a blend of musical influences (like the music the band members really bonded with)... Then all those musical influences get thrown into the pot as a song is written and arranged and recorded... I refer to that process as "making a tune stew"...😆 This song is a perfect and glorious example of this....blending of decades, 60's, 70's and on and on...
