In my opinion, end of 90's and the transitional of early 2000's are everything. Bands are coming from all direction... It was a blessed that you could hear that the radio and billboard chart would be bombared with fantastic songs every single weekend... pop, rock, alt rocks, metal, punk, ballads, boy group, girl group... you name it. It was gold time to grow up. Less toxic, too
Back before everyone knew what auto tune was and used it to compensate for not being able to sing 🤷♂️
@@fariin2174 yup... with the song material and personal vocal, back then - these things alone either make you swim or sink. Autotune are nice 'ummph' featurettes; but it tend to be so icky when you couldn't 'feel' the authenticity of the real voice at times. In addition, the small little details on marketing are essentially gimmick... press loves that. Just act crazy, and you'll be on top! Thus, the mediocre one goes everywhere within the chart and the good singer-songwriter are left unnoticed
People actually writing music and playing instruments lol take me back
@@fariin2174 personally I do think autotune can be used in good ways, like for people who want to create but don't quite have the vocals. it's only a crutch. though it's definitely different if they don't even write their own music
Yup! So true you nailed it!!!!
Truth: you're on a nostalgic binge just like me.
Yes I am. I won't lie 💙😎
I am! This is my third song. Pursuit of Happiness and Closing Time ☺️
Yeah..Im so done with 2021
Yes your right 🙂
Perpetually!
The closest thing we’ll ever have to a Time Machine is music. This song brings me back to a time when I had not a worry in the world. And everything was so innocent.
Couldn’t agree more!!!
That’s why they say the music you listened to growing up will be the music you cherish the rest of your life. Glad I was born in 90
I absolutely agree, I remember this song well in highschool , I'm a millennial, loved this song and this genre of music. Not a worry in the world at all, we didnt have all the whackos we have now and all this chaos. Ppl got along . Wish wer could return to that time.
Heard that, big dawg
It's was PI..pre-internet which pretty much screwed up everything!
Such a sweet song.
You sure don't have to be a millennial to appreciate it's simplicity!
But it's more complex than most songs trending on Spotify? More chords, more parts. This wouldn't fit into TikTok
There's a lot of the Lemonheads in this
I am a 68 year old hippie and I ❤❤❤😊
I found her. She was so high above me, then we got married. Best 11 years of my life. Unfortunately she passed at 42 years of age. But I will never forget those 11 years. I bothered, I offered and she accepted. Don't ever underestimate yourself. Thanks everyone for being supportive. You make the world a better place.
Sad to hear that.
You will be together again. We are spirits having a human experience. We never die... only the body dies. The spirit lives forever. Love and hugs to you.
Sorry to hear that Scooter
I married mine too. Been together six years, married 2 1/2 .. I still worry one day she'll wake up and figure out she could have done so much better.

The 90s should've started later! I missed all of it, I was born at the end of 1999. Some people just get all the luck, while others end up deprived.

+Percy Jackson Son of Neptune I was born in Aug of 1997. I was born towards the end of the 90's. I couldn't remember much until about 2001/2002. I know the feeling!
+Christian Mohr They were a great time in music --
just after modern rock/pop/etc music had had a few generations to mature and percolate with great ideas, producing a great generation of singers, guitarists, drummers, songwriters, and artists in general
and just before people produced entire records on laptops
leaving a great proprietary blend of musical ideas complete with emotion and integrity, with the kind of subconscious mystique that keeps a lot of the songs relevant for decades
Michael Neppel I hate my generations music. anything past 2005 I pretty much don't like,,at all. 90s seemed cool, early internet, I like their fashion sense ( particularly Grunge and grunge music) movies, idk things from what ive seen and heard, just seems like ti was a better time.

Este classico es de los 90 s
I graduated high school in 1995. This video makes me so nostalgic and extremely emotional(idk why lol). The clothes, the scenery, the sound, the hairstyles, all of it just screams the late 90s. I was lucky enough to go from teenager to young woman in this “era”. I really do miss it. ❤❤ this song now just as much as 1999.
Same. I know everyone pines for the days of their youth, but there was something really special about the 80's and 90's. I feel like those were the last decades of any true innocence, optimism, creativity, and hope in this country. Something shifted in the new millennium and it's been downhill ever since. When I listen to songs like this and I can feel those 90's teenage/young adult emotions all over again, when the world was a cleaner, simpler, less toxic place, and we had our whole lives ahead of us, I just want to weep.
@@TheGeekMonster Exactly! Perfectly said.
I was 29, a new Dad, and sang this song to my wife when she came home with our son. Three months ago we are leaving a movie with my now 15 year old son and grab a bite to eat next door where in they have a small karaoke rig. On a whim I step up and sing it again... before its over, teenage girls are dancing by their booths, my wife is beaming sunshine from her eyes, and my too embarrassed to show his face son is smiling ear to ear because he had nooooo idea his Dad could sing.
Cool....and there's nothing else like family. Good man.
Touching story -well done. Keep living in the moment - it is priceless
Godspeed man

Onetoo. i don't know , I think Don Maclaen with American Pie might top the list , although he did have one other minor hit .
Onetoo. I second you Onetoo, I heard this song after years and still it maintains the same flavor......
Dear lord.... I was 10 years old when this song was released. I remember SPECIFICALLY where I was when I first heard it. In the car, with my dad driving, and they said on the radio "Now for the single from rising artist Tal Bachman... "She's So High". My dad, knowing that i was a big BTO fan at the time, looked over at me and said "This is Randy Bachman's son". Then he adjusted the volume knob and turned it up. What followed for the next 4 minutes was complete silence as we listened to one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. To hear it now, 17 years later.... and to remember all the little parts about the song that I loved, particularly the guitar sounds he makes at 1:20-1:25, and then again at 1:30-1:35.... brings back instant nostalgia and I have tears in my eyes. I feel as if music has really lost this magic nowadays. You can't even turn on the radio without being subjected to all kinds of controversial and questionable bullshit. Just my opinion of course
That was beautiful
+Monica alatorre hahahah thank you. Isn't music wonderful like that though??? :)

+aimee van wijk That's how I felt back in the day when I first heard the song. Just goosebumps everywhere. Same here. Society and living has beat me down, now my sense of wonder is couched in caveats.
Tal explained the backstory to this song long ago. When in high school trying to figure out where you stand in the status quo can really mess with your head. You really think that people actually give a crap about the choices you make. So you see a girl in school you really like but are too afraid to approach her because you may think that she is “too good” for your status. You want to ask her out to the school dance. Instead you keep your distance instead of taking a chance at rejection. Then you come to find out that she was sad because NO ONE asked her to the dance. Teach your kids about these things so they aren’t afraid of swinging the bat. Hit or miss at least they know instead of contemplating what if.
Yep. When I was 16 there was this dream girl in school that I could never get the courage to talk to...
Many many many years later bumped into her at a pub, we were both older and settled down, but she said tocme that she always wished I would have made a move back then :-(
I did teach my boys that lesson. To this day, I have not seen a girl or woman - model, actress, singer, etc. - better looking than my high school pine.
I taught my brother this. Now the kids in his class refer to him as a 'simp'
my mom taught me the same nonsense about hot girls not getting asked out. So I flirted and asked out as many as I could. Turns out...the only hot girls who EVER sat home alone? their personality SUCKED. oh, some were nice and shy, but that still doesn't make them much fun, being quiet and repressed on a date and insecure about everything they do. But most of the lonely girls were the real bitches or truly hot messes--once you looked past the makeup and short dresses and such to see the real person.
I don't know about anyone else's school, but I never saw the beautiful girls go alone to any dance. That's because there's always an attractive boy, who grew up with girls chasing him. He doesn't ask out beautiful women out of confidence--he does it because he doesn't know what rejection is. He's always had a neighborhood girl, or a sister's friend, or a girl at summer camp, trying to get some "alone time" with him, always coming to his aid when he's sad hoping it will work for them.
But I did get into the friend zone alot by asking. Beautiful women get hit on constantly, and some can respect a guy who has the guts to ask them out, isn't old enough to be their dad, is RESPECTFUL once getting shot down, isn't treating them like a "Score" but a real human being, and so on.
I'll stick to staring from the distance 👍
It's safe over there xD

We're all strange when we're young.
Notice how most of these songs have zero swear words in them and all mostly positive messages or a song about a girl. But not about the break up, just more about the emotional aspect. No drugs, no booty dancers. This kind of music should never go out of style. And it never will.
Nick Wilson exactly this is real music with real meaning..all feels how life should be
Well... unfortunately the media is trying to erase this kind of music genre from mainstream... Look around, and notice all mainstreamed music and artists nowadays only sing a certain type of music. Barely hear rock music anymore on the media.
AMEN TO THAT.👍🏻
If I could give this comment a thousand likes I would but unfortunately TH-cam only allows one like per person
You're implying just because a song is about drugs or had swearwords, it's bad. That's an incredibly ignorant outlook. Look at "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen, which is about doing drugs and having sex and is considered a classic.
She straight up murdered that little girl... Is nobody gonna talk about that?!?!

Legend has it that Randy Bachmann has never ceased to beat this dweab's mother since this pos song was released
If you watch the whole video, she acts pretty obnoxiously throughout the whole thing, with maybe the exception of her dive. I choose to believe that part of the point the video is making is that she's *not* some idealized perfect woman, and that she does, in fact, have flaws.

I wish the 90's made a comeback. Like maybe some sort of 90's renaissance.
I think it might, when people realize what a waste of time social media is, and that technology has gone way too far in controlling people's lives. That's why the 90s was much more creative than today, people wern't glued to their phones 24/7.
The game’s changed, man. Really what the OP wants is a pre-9/11 world. Me too- I miss those days and it’s a drag that there are kids walking around that have never known a time when the US wasn’t at war with someone.
Technology is the real blame to me. I honestly believe it changed people's mindsets and priorities in life. 1990 and 1999 were like two different worlds. By the end of the decade it was already starting to go wrong with technology taking over.
+Michael G True, you can't walk five feet without seeing someone with their nose in their phone.

@@katrabbit that's so sad do yous stay in touch now I know what she did was terrible but she left for your own good she knew she was no good for you and didn't want you in that kinda life style
Thank you
A real Starlord... Sounds like you are doing great now ❤
Dude was a one hit wonder. Haven’t heard this one in over 20 years. Progressive - you hit the nail on the head.
I was a teenager girl when this song & music video came out. I was so hypnotized every time I watched it on TV😵💫🤩 I still love it and tears roll down my face when I watch this video. Maybe it's nostalgia...
Being born in 1977, the 90's were my Coming of Age decade.
And what a decade it was.
Same for me. Being born in 1977 really put us in the sweet spot for that entire decade. I wish, sometimes, that I could do it all over again.
Same, was born '76, miss the 90's so much!
lol, 1954 here, this song kills!!!!!!
Born in 83 and I miss the 90s!!! I vividly remember this song
Xennials
10-year old me was very proud of understanding the references to Cleopatra, Joan d'Arc and Aphrodite.
Amen love you meme Elizabeth and marilyn lady pearl diana
I learned who Cleopatra was because of this song
Joan Of Arc not Joan D'Arc.....fixed it for ya.
@@FlyerHockeyPride honestly it's not. Only the English speaking people say that. Her original name is Jeanne D'Arc so...
Cleopatra was a piece of trash
I just heard this song for the first time! I love it!!!
One of the most enjoyable choruses from this era.
rip the girl with the balloons
what could a guy like me ever really offer, she's perfect as she can be, what could I really offer?
I miss the simplicity of the 90's.
It wasn't simple, you were just young -.-
Yup.
exactly the first thing that came to my mind
It can be simple again if you want it to be. You can start by deleting all social media ( facebook, twitter, etc)
@@The_child-catcher I had actually deleted all of my social media for over 4 years to help me go back to the 90s, then when i applied for jobs they asked me why I didnt have a Facebook wondering if I was running from the cops or something -_-
I've never seen the commercials or movies you guys are talking about bringing you here, I just love the song from my childhood
My mom gave me this album for Christmas one year when I was in grade school (it was on my list) because she said she thought Tal was just so charming and his music reminded her of her favorite little boyband, Herman and the Hermits, from when she was young. She died in 2007, and I always think of her when I listen to this song- which I still do pretty often because this is one of the best, most iconic 90’s songs imo. The video is excellent, Tal is angelic in it, and the song manages to convey that mix of limerence and insecurities about a person you like, without the lyrics dipping into a lot of negative, toxic self-talk like in so many other pop songs. It’s a simple but hella catchy romantic poetic song that will always make you feel better when you hear it.
When I was a young girl, I remember listening to this song and imagining it was about me- gave 11 year old me all the confidence I needed to get through middle school lol
Wow!
good for you!
awww
Yes I always imagine it’s about me hehehe makes my heart soar a little
As perfect as she could be
There’s this girl in my high school and ever since freshman year, I didn’t even let myself crush on her because I thought she was so “high above me.” Took a shot in the dark my senior year and asked her to prom because nobody had even asked her, and I can’t believe it but we’re going together in a few weeks. This song actually gave me some of the courage to ask her.
In the words of Kevin Garnett: “ANYTHING IS POSSIBLEEE!!!”
Oh wow I hope you both had a great time at prom!
YES!!! 🎉 I wish more guys were like you and found the courage
I wish you guys the best that’s the same with me yet I still haven’t asked her 😂 hoping to soon
How did it go?
There's a theory about "the most attractive" & how they don't get the guy but they get the eyes... everyone looks but too intimidating. Explains why many end up with the dreaded narcissist 😬
Well do you dare to tell us how it went?
BEST SONG EVER!
She’s out of my league 🥰
she's dressed like she used to play quidditch for Gryffindor
Ha ha. True that bruh.
Thankfully this existed long before that shit tier book series.
absolutely underrated comment oh my god hahaha
its her diving into a portkey for me
Really, I can't say for sure.
"She's so lovely
She's so high
Like Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, or Aphrodite"
What romantic he used to be.
Is he not like that now?
@@IskateUphill Probably not. He's divorced and alluded to the last decade of his marriage as a fight to keep his family together.
Blair Rich clone high will rock your socks then
The problem is if you want to be worshiped like a saint or a Goddess, you have to act like one, which would preclude complaining publically about the deficiency of modern men.
Just sayin'.
John Foxx goddesses complained about man all the time, and even sometimes would straight up smite them so...
Brings back memories of 90’s. They played it on MTV so much
Who's here from Progressive yet old enough to remember that you actually knew this tune at one point but just forgot the song.
My thoughts exactly. Came here to see the resurgence and nostalgia haha
so many 90s songs sound just cool and like everyone was in love with life x)
we were!!
There was no war, no market crash, no housing repo crisis , Enron hadn't happened yet, gas was under a buck, a summer job could buy you a car, and our parents were all doing ok also so yeah life was better, and music reflected it.
Which 90's did you grow up in lol
Lee Palmer NO WAR? AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA
Except Kurt cobain lol
Who else really really misses the 90s?
yeah i miss the 80's too
Oh wait
wut?
blushes
Me.
samdiego me T_T
indeed better times than now
I do!!!
What I like about this song is its fantastic phrasing. It's amazing how the lyrics might look clunky, but the singer just makes it musical and smooth, making perfect sense. That's artistry.
That singer that you mentioned just happens to be the son of Randy Bachman from Bachman Turner Overdrive. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Seems to be true in this case.
I love this song. And I’m an old classic rock kind of girl.
It's 2.00 AM in the morning in 2019.... I miss the 90s!
OMG! Same here!
244am in the Bahamas. Still loving the 90s music
I won't be surprised if they start sampling more chords from the 90's and adding em to trap 808's
3:37am, same
You're okay, bud?
Even the wimpy pop of the 90’s sounds beautiful, organic and well-conceived compared with what’s considered pop now. The vocal work on this is pretty excellent; no auto tune needed. And-*gasp*-musicians playing REAL instruments!!
Right?!
“Wimpy pop” 😂 oooooook
@Thou Swell what do you mean stunk? Are you the one who calls Justin Bieber the next Michael Jackson? 😂🤣
@Thou Swell my ESL friend 🤣😂🤣😂. Dude I wasn't asking the meaning of the word. I meant why the hell you think it stunk. 90s had great music. Heard of Savage Garden, BSB, Bryan Adams, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and many more? I could include Michael Jackson here cause he did come out with a couple of albums then but we can let 80s and 70s have him. I definitely enjoy songs from the 80s and 70s, however 90s has it's own place. Music was pretty good till 2010s and then it went downhill like a rollercoaster. 😂🤣
@Thou Swell wow, man you seem really judgemental. and to talk about Whitney Houston like this? wtf 😳😳😳
Reminds me of the night I met my beautiful Wife ...... the most challenging and wondrous person I have ever met. She taught me how to love unconditionally ...... and that night I really did think "nothing was ever going to happen". I got cancer and found out how she would stand behind me through some awfully trying times with a love I had not known existed. Thank you for this song ..... and G#d Bless all of you !!!!!
I've listened to this song for 20 years and only learned today that Tal's father is Randy Bachman from Bachman Turner Overdrive and the Guess Who. Amazing song, amazing singer, amazing father too!
Randy Bachman: "American woman, get away from me!"
Tal Bachman: "American woman, you're too high for me."
Takin' care of business!
"Ride ride ride won't you let it ride."
@@NJGuy1973Randy wrote that song?
NO WAY BTO!
90's music is like fine wine, really miss those days
Didn't realize how good we had it back then.
agree!
Freaking CLASSIC!!! I LOVE this song!!!
Ah! 😻
My favorite love song. It isn't overly cheesy, it's just about a man who respects a woman and feels lucky to have her. Simple yet poetic, and sometimes simplicity says it best.
good ol' 90s... really wish we could go back.
F
Shayne Tybur Me Too Shayne i grew up in the 1990s loved it! life was good back then first nintendo game boy awesome music and Tv shows id love to go back in time
Where did you get all that from? I read the lyrics and it seems hea still commiserating himself even when she approaches him, which is where the song ends.
1:49 that clown went on to become the Joker
And the little girl became Harley Quinn!
😂😂😂
"you want to know how I got these scars"
and the kid meant to have those balloons went without that day....
I just want it to be this era of music again. Me cruising in my Kenworth, driving through Michigan, making deliveries, listening to the best era of music ❤
Jus heard this song's refrain on that latest Progressive Insurance commercial & I got a smile on my face a mile wide. What a Great song 🎵 great memories@
She's Out Of My League brings me here every time
Hey Pirate! Absolutely love that movie & no, I am not a house ball.
@William Kylecan you turn it down a skootch? Lol
That movie is sweet because Jim gets the choir chick! 😂
Loser (the film) is where it began, She's Out of my League was next :)
Just watched it for the first time
@@frank71413fv me to last night and I paused my focus on the movie so I could remember this tune
I was a product of 1958. This song made me happy hearing the first time. I never grow tired of it. Ever.
What does that mean, a product of 1958?
@@RobertSoul123 it means they were born in 1958
Same here
Also a ‘58 product! Discovered this song about 10 years ago and it restored my faith in great music still being made. My generation is stuck on insisting that good music stopped in 1979 as is every generation about their music. I love my Tull, ELP, Fogelberg, Yes and many others but She’s So High has the same feeling as Frampton’s Show Me The Way. Great music can happen at any time.
57 here grad in 75 can't make these things up
I'm playing this on repeat. This reminds me so much of my first crush. I thought she was so much better than me and out of my league. 30 years later all I can do is laugh and be thankful of the major bullet I dodged.
Why though? :D
this song is just so damn cute....
+Azrael Astrum Cute is the perfect word. And the video perfectly fits the song.
+Azrael Astrum not as cute as ur profile pic
So are you. *soft kiss*
+extra delux :D
She's blood, flesh and bone
No tucks or silicone
She's touch, smell, sight, taste, and sound
But somehow I can't believe
That anything should happen
I know where I belong
And nothing's going to happen, yeah
'Cause she's so high
High above me
She's so lovely
She's so high
Like Cleopatra
Joan of Arc
Or Aphrodite
Da-da-da-da-da
She's so high
High above me
First class and fancy free
She's high society
She's got the best of everything
What could a guy like me
Ever really offer
She's perfect as she can be
Why should I even bother?
'Cause she's so high
High above me
She's so lovely
She's so high
Like Cleopatra
Joan of Arc
Or Aphrodite
Da-da-da-da-da
She's so high
High above me
She comes to speak to me
I freeze immediately
'Cause what she says sounds so unreal
'Cause somehow I can't believe
That anything should happen
I know where I belong
And nothing's going to happen, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
'Cause she's so high
High above me
She's so lovely
She's so high
Like Cleopatra
Joan of Arc
Or Aphrodite
Oh, yeah
She's so high
High above me
This failure literally wasted his time to paste lyrics lol
thank you 4 taking the time to put up the lyrics!!
Lovely! The words are lovely! And the video! Thank you for posting the lyrics. Have a great day!
