@@sisutrucks wrong, its because to offer the d16 in america for such a small customer base it wasnt worth it. and its also partly because americans will buy anything with a cummins badge on it because they are so stuck in their ruts. the d16 is a very reliable engine with only usually the egr valve on the 2nd larger turbo having issues because of where its placed and how it gets cooked between the block and turbo, this has been rectified since with volvo insulating them and it seems to do the trick. and for the person saying about shit valves and heads just dont talk if you dont know anything
@minor..... No there are lots in the mines, in Western Australia. These are highway vehicles, they run on public/roads highways with cars, caravans & other trucks, not just in mines

I work for Toll Australia and the owner contractor has several identical B double units loaded with 55tons of aluminum daily However two are 660 auto box volvos and the other seven are 620 opticruise V8 Scanias all have the same drive line ratios but every driver agrees the Scanias have just a fraction more legs when pulling up hills. I'm talking over a 3 klm gradual 3 to 7% grade the Scanias seem to gain about 80m gap ahead of the Volvo from start of climb to top and Don't get me wrong the 660 Volvo from standing start to 100kph dose get there quicker than the Scania but the V8 pulls better on the hills in our case anyway.

We have to drive trough Germany and near Hamburg there is a rather long climb and i overtook him and he wasn.t happy lol.We always joking about wich engine is better. The Volvo is using less fuel also. At 90 km/h my Volvo runs with 1150 revs a his Scania at 1300 revs. Two months ago my Volvo was in the garage for service and they gave me a new FH 500 TC demo truck to try that day. TC stands for turbo compound. It.s a brand new engine from Volvo and it broke several records on fuel effiency and pulling power. I had to get used to it because at 85km/h it runs with barely 970 revs.And if you step on the gas it reacts immediatly. So much torque in the low revs.Unbelievable. A whole new driving experience compared to my 500. But i like talking to you,always to talk to people from whole different countries. I love Australia,never been there and it.s a big wish on my to do list to drive a road train .I always watch "Outback Truckers"on tv haha. I.m surprised to see you guys drive many Volvos and Scanias. Personally i don.t like the American trucks. The ride on the Swedes is much more comfortable. Greetings!

@@miquel440 volvos d16 have some major reliability issues. They stoppet selling them in america. And offer the Cummins in stead.

Sorry have to disagree. The V8 is a torque monster and for lugging power especially up hills it kills.
