  • I take a road from across Australia from Newcastle to Port Hedland. Along the way I tell the history of Dunedoo, Wilcannia and Sandstone in Western Australia.
This is part 2 of that journey. In this episode you'll see me enter Western Australia and drive through to the mine near Port Hedland. You'll see all the triple and quad road trains along the way.

As a retired Interstater, its hard sitting here watching, it makes me want to get back out on the road but those days are well and truly gone, So I just have to keep watching and remember my time on the road especially the roadhouses you visit and I see the change from years ago, Keep up the great work and more importantly keep safe, cheers mate.

I live in Western Canada, foothills of the Rocky Mountains…I think I saw three flies this month, might be mistaken though. One might have been a bee 🤨. Your road trains in Australia are fascinating. Really interesting road trips, thanks.

Jono, as you were driving through Nevertire I was reminded of the highway Patrols who would park over the railway line in the dip near the grain silo, if you didn't bring your rig to a dead stop at the railwayline, Bamm ....a couple of hundred dollar fine, they cleaned up in wheat season mno driver wants to pull 2 trailers with loaded 'hungry boards' to a complete stop on the rise up to the line, my pay suffered a couple of times although you usually got a heads up on the UHF unless you were 1st cab off the rank.
Anyway mate great viewing, my left hand and thumb is making involuntary gentle shift movements at times in the cab shots as you swap cogs on the R/R.
All the best, take care, as you know it mostly the other guy that places a rig driver at risk, maybe a water buffallo or camel in the NT, ........they're murder on the driving lights!

Part 2 was great mate. I’m surprised Cappy was so quiet, usually it’s flat out. There’s a good little café at Menzies opposite the pub next time you’re up that way with plenty of parking in the big truck parking bay. Also Kumarina is my favourite old style roadhouse, there’s a little diner out the back which you might have missed. Love the drone work.

Overtaking, what's the etiquette with that? do you talk to the truck your passing before? Is there a plan if something approaches and you're still on the wrong side of the road. I think people should be taught how to back out of an overtake if it starts to look dangerous.

    • @RoadTrainAdventures

When overtaking trucks we are in contact over the radio. If another vehicle comes unexpectedly then the truck that's being overtaken will back off.
