I did the same exact thing with my Pearl White 98 LSC. Lost a lost of bottom end torque. I bought the mandrel bent 2.5” cat-back kit, with an x-pipe, and some 3” quad tips. SOUNDS INCREDIBLE!! And picked up torque and power throughout the power band.
@@markviiifan5019 I didn’t take it off like I just said it’s directly welded onto the manifold too much of a hassle to take off cause you need new manifolds which you need to drop the engine to get on
@@ronroe2013 I cut a square hole in the side of the 2 coming off the motor and used a chisel and hammer to remove the inside honeycomb and then welded a patch over the square holes.
Little late to the party seeing this. Always luv'd that car, never bought one. 2 questions ... 1. Is that legal to just cut off and leave, in states with emissions & 2. Would that not mean exhaust gasses getting into the passenger area?
i straight piped my ls400 from the resonator and I lost a noticeable amount power but it sounds so cool I want to leave it. I also got 1 mpg less so im going to slap a 3 chamber magnaflow or a flowmaster 50 on it to get some back pressure. I could tune it though. cheers
To open it up cheep u unbolt the exhaust one cat is part of the manifold the other comes off with the y pipe. U got all 3 cats and then while it's off cut the 3rd cat wear u can weld n a 3 inch pipe put a cheep stainless strate threw muffler under the car and 3 inch pipe back to the rear and do a new y pipe and to pipes put the back with stock tips and it would be a deep mean sounding monster
I removed everything from manifolds back put in X pipe and 2 Flowmaster Outlaws and it sounds pissed off and Nasty low drone at higher speeds which I like because I love my music and cruising.

The pulse band width is still there with even 3 inch pipe so the savaging is still there. Realistically nobody would put bigger pipe on the car than that... Think banana in the tailpipe and restriction.... it chokes the engine!

@@MrRandomReviews I can hear it in your car. that motor needs some backpressure look at how fast your rpms jump with the cat and pipes on compared to when you cut it mabey if anything you get high end but a little bit it's not worth what you loose at low end
@@MrRandomReviews you lost horsepower bro you can't gain anything from cutting shit off your car unless you tune it. There might be more air flow but your car isn't tuned for that air flow so you're losing back pressure resulting in a loss of torque and horsepower

Took off 3rd cat and put a 2 in 2 out muffler in it's spot on mine no mufflers in the back. Sounds good and it runs a little stronger
