Buying an absolutely beautiful 44k mile pearl white 1998 LSC Collector’s Edition car this weekend. Back in high school, I almost bought a 1996 LSC in white, to replace my 1984 Mustang GT that was suffering from pretty advanced strut tower/frame rail rot, but passed and bought an S-10 pickup instead. Fast forward 10 years, my Mercedes-Benz S550 was totaled in a rear end accident, and I’m looking for another interesting and slightly unusual daily driver to tinker with (being a tech myself with a serious case of mechanical masochism), I saw a black 93-96 car the other day (first one I’ve seen in years on the road), which reignited my search while back to daily driving my ZF6 swapped C4 corvette in severe discomfort (I miss my massaging seats). Here I am thinking this nice, low-mileage Lincoln will be a bit closer to a Crown Victoria when it comes to maintenance, and seeing you dropping a subframe to change manifolds, just like I did in my S550 to change the alternator, front differential, and motor mounts a few months ago😂. Well, looks like it’ll be more of the same, although it’ll be nice to rebuild the entire air suspension on this car for a couple grand, versus the same amount of money for just ONE air strut on the Merc. Great video, looks like you definitely take pride in your work, and this Mark sounds incredible! Looks like I’ll be rifling through the SCP catalog for a little more than just rear subframe bushings!

Almost everything on these cars are frustrating, BUT that doesn't really make them any less cool! Such a great sneaky platform so few people understand or appreciate.
Oh it was a WHOLE lot of blood, sweat, and cursing to get this thing done but the attitude adjustment at the end was WORTH it! Ford did a great job on these 4.6 v8s, and especially in the sleek form of this Lincoln... she roars very very nicely :) Glad you like it thanks for watching!
The luxury cobra in my favorite style black first gen. They make a intake adapter plate now for B head dohc. Allways wanted to see a carbed mark open headers with a nice scoop sticking out of the hood hot rod Lincoln style.

Have heard the love it or hate it thing from many Mark VIII owners, especially when having to deal with air suspension things. There are a lot of expensive quirks to these cars that steer people away unfortunately from being a more popular platform. But for a long distance high speed cruiser they are excellent!

I guess guys in the south don't overnight soak with penetrating fluid. The catalyst design is not horrible, those would be harder to steal and also the catalysts would light up faster since the exhaust is hot right next to the engine
Love it.. When all else fails- pull out the torch! Running the pipes under the rear axle vs. over just didn't look right.. Downspouts on the tailpipes?? Where's the chrome tips??
muffler tips that have a built it chamber so that when the 4.6 revs up to 5500-7500 they make a whistle sound similar to a turbocharger spinning real fast.
@@LucoreAuto it looks like the Mark VIII has the same suspension as the 1994 Thunder Bird I got dropped on my door step two years ago. 356000km on the odometer... there is a button that says its for the over drive, after clicking it, makes the exhaust smoke even on a worm day. guy i got it from wouldn't say anything about it... he should have sold it for $6k but I got it for four months of welfare checks aka $1200. needed door hinge, brake lines, rod barrings, a few holes patched in the floor, bunch of wires spliced to there correct spots. it was also a bio hazard but i already got a few things so it was a win for me. runs to good, its a 94 car mad in 93 but lots of things in it have 95 written on them in yellow paint. sold as a lemon but it was just put together a bit weird. could vary well have milled heads on it as the compression fights the 1200CA battery. but G I don't know who bought it off the dealer floor 26 years ago so i don't have everything on it.
@@ardennielsen3761 whoa! Sounds like one seriously complicated ride! Thankfully this one is very well kept example with reasonably low miles, and the owner appreciates and cares for it. Not yet but certainly would be willing to if someone wanted it! With the way the body is molded at the back for the exhaust tips though... might have to get creative ;)
All those beautiful parts, only to have so/so aluminized added to it without mandrel bends. Nice work, must've been a on a budget after the cost of those headers & labor, eh?

@@sabrom unfortunately the problem we are seeing just down the road is transmission not engine. There's only so much you power you can push through it reliably and we are quickly reaching that limit with what's planned. They really area great cars though and EXCELLENT sleepers!
The exhaust was swapped on is pretty high flowing with the only true "restriction" being the high flow cats that welded on after the headers. As far as I am concerned, my 98 Lincoln Mark 8 is the best car ever made by Lincoln, (or by anybody for that matter). Sure, I'd love to put headers and true dual exhaust on my car (not an L.S.C.), HOWEVER, this bad boy does just fine without that mod. My advice is: DON'T TOUCH IT.
Ive been looking for a cheap reliable/family capable fast car that i could daily for a while and im now pretty sure i found my candidate #1. What a cool car. Its so different. Luxurious and sounds like a mustang. Im in love. I thought i was gonna get a buick roadmaster with the lt1 or a c4 shitbox but you can get a pretty nice mark 8 for 4k.
@@alale923 I promise you Al, you will not be disappointed. That car cost $38,000.00 brand new in 1998. These cars are in a class all by themselves. It gives you EVERYTHING you ever wanted.
Does this require a custom tune after headers? I just purchased a 1993 white VIII. She was a one owner with 89k miles and is just amazing! I’m in love with her all ready. I’m getting ready to do an exhaust... I’m thinking maybe just mufflers and an x pipe to replace the third catylic converter... thoughts?
It can run without a tune but will definitely be more happy with one. This particular car has tunes for different settings it can switch between, there are bigger plans in the near future for this beautiful beast ;) You'll get some great sound and a bit of performance doing just manifolds back exhaust, the factory manifolds are decent enough at stockish levels of power. Going headers is a TASK for sure and will easily add $800-$1000 onto a labor bill for exhaust work.
@@LucoreAuto yea I don’t think I’ll be interested in headers for this monster. The name fake buck doesn’t seem to be there. I am truly looking forward though to customizing her. @@ramsaybolton7464 you are definitely on the right track and we COMPLETELY agree with you on the Flowmaster comment. The sound is excellent, especially out of the 4.6 Ford V8s, they have a great rumble. High flow cats, x pipe, 2.5 inch pipes and some Flowmasters will make you VERY happy.

Hmmmmmm would have to think on that. Don't know if we've ever modified one. What are you looking for, just a bit more attitude or something more performance boosting?
It certainly wasn't cheap, unfortunately there's a lot of work doing one of these despite it generally being a "bolt on" setup. However you also want to be kind to a customer and not try to rake them over the coals. Will have to look back tomorrow at what the cost was for labor out the door.
Nice work on that Lincoln, sounds mean as hell. Btw where are you guys in Ohio, and whos clean Mk III Supra is on the lift. I have a '87 Turbo Targa in that same color

HOWdy LUCORE, ... Pretty (complicated) EXHAUST on a LINCOLN car What brand were those HEADERS ??? / HOOKS / HOOKER / COOKS / ??? COOP the WiSeNhEiMeR from Richmond, INDIANA ...
Say you quoted the customer 500.00 (est 4hrs) but this happens and ties up your rack all day as this did, is it still 500 or some adjustments made? Understanding stuff happens and situations come up but at what point is the cost "justified" so to speak.
Great question and unfortunately it kind of depends on the situation. When we go into a project like this we always make sure the customer understands there can be complications along the way that make this process slower and more costly. That's also, to be quite honest, one of the reasons we film a lot of this stuff so the customer can see the process as well. It's not just to show off 😉 We try to be as fair to the customer as we can be and not just "run up the clock" but we also need to protect ourselves costs wise. Typically we tend to split the additional hours/costs in some fashion.
Turned out amazing and i can only imagine how much that cost? Also im guessing the headers were meant for a 96-98 Cobra. And for what reason why did you put so many cats back on? Kinda defeats the purpose of long tubes?
Glad you like it! The headers and exhaust were all from Supercoupe Performance and were pretty dang close to what you would hope for. It's just a really really difficult platform to work on and when/if you break a bolt you're in for a world of fun! The cats we used on this are high flow so very little performance decrease, AND still emission compliant! Street car daily driver ;)
As Bill Clinton used to say, "I feel your pain." I owned a 97 Mark VIII and it was a hassle and a money pit. Other than that, I love these machines. Think about getting maybe a 93-95 model and then I wake up.🤣 I'll just enjoy the ones on TH-cam. Somebody else's is as close to owning another one as I want to get. That's a sharp car. I'm different than most. I like the first generation better than the second. Sorry to use a Clinton quote. Hope I didn't sour the excellent video. Vote Right. Vote America First.🇺🇸👍
We often joke here about what great jobs we have, we get to play with other peoples cars and THEY get to pay for them! What could be better than that? :) These Lincolns DO have a few small problems with them, the air ride certainly being #1 on that list BUT the reasonably good news is a lot of that has been fixed in the aftermarket. Having a cool 2 door cruiser that can hide some bruising 4.6 muscle under the hood IS also...very very cool ;)
Header bolts are not hardened Why didn't you just do the weld a nut on and remove. Or drill and retap? People think this is like a $300 dollar job lol. I make my own Longtubes for my mk8 out of Cobra BBK headers
We did the weld on and remove trick... twice. Unfortunately that bolt was incredibly seized up and wouldn't budge. After attempting that the bolt was then broken off flush with the head surface. There's a little of that included in the video. Unfortunately with the location of that bolt there's literally no way to get a drill and and bit in that location, let alone perfectly straight. Only way to get it done properly is going to be with removing the head, which opens a whole DIFFERENT can of worms!

A terrible car. My brother was right, Ford's are not made to be worked on. You buy them, drive them, and then throw them away. I have this car and it sucks. My car won't pass emissions. Its never ready. NO codes, just never ready. I took it to Ford and the FOrd mechanics couldnt find it. I think I found what is wrong with it but I wont drop the sub frame to find out. Why does this car suck: I will give 8 reasons: 1. plastic fragile blend door for your heat and a/c. can't find parts and cant fix it. 2. can't pass emissions. dunno why, neither does Ford. 3. noisy ride. For a v-8 with low drag coefficent, its plain noisy inside. 4. Exhaust not made to be worked on. (watch this video for that) Just throw car away when it gives you trouble. 5. Air ride that will fail and leave you stranded far from home when it fails. 6. low geared 4 speed transmission coupled with a low geared rear end for the LSC. (had 2.6 nissan altima's tacking out less than my car. 7 spark plugs freeze and snap off into the engine. gotta love FORD for that. 8. Lastly, engine too big for car. NO room to swing a wrench. I had a 93 Tbird with a 3.8. Loved that car. easy to work on. Right size motor for that body/frame.

frustrating for sure, but nice work you've done here, I am looking for a Mark 8 for myself currently.
Almost everything on these cars are frustrating, BUT that doesn't really make them any less cool! Such a great sneaky platform so few people understand or appreciate.
Wow you put a lot of work into that! Kudos to your patience 😄. And pardon my friends but holy s*** does that ever sound sweet!!
She's definitely one heck of a looker, and having had the paint recently buffed and ceramic coated she's looking even better! This thing definitely won't be going carb'd BUT... there could be a force feeding air situation coming in the near future for it ;)
There great cars I miss my Mark vlll something about a luxury coupe with a cockpit like a jet that can get 20 city 30 highway while having 300 hp. That teskid block can handle over 1k hp thank you for saving another Mark.

Please more Mark 8 videos!!!!
Glad you liked this one, we'll certainly try to get more as it develops. This project is certainly not done!
Wow nice job
Ohhh keep watching if you are into MKVIII Lincolns... this thing is in the shop right now for some major surgery!

Yessir :) There's actually content on this car coming very soon, it's at the shop for some more major surgery

That was a great job you did I would like to get that done on my Lincoln Mark 8 as well💪🏼👨🏻🏭🚘 Great work
It's definitely woken the thing up and sounds GREAT! There was a lot, as you'll see in the video, to do besides just bolt on and go but in the end we and the owner are both very happy with it.
This certainly won't be the last you'll see of this machine!
Dang that thing sounds good
Thanks! It took a whole lot of doing but in the end it turned out pretty dang well. There was a WHOLE lot more to come with that Lincoln after this!
I owned 2 Mark VIII’s. I loved one, I hated the other. The 1994 was mostly trouble free. Mechanical issues plagued the 1998 LSC.
Have heard the love it or hate it thing from many Mark VIII owners, especially when having to deal with air suspension things. There are a lot of expensive quirks to these cars that steer people away unfortunately from being a more popular platform. But for a long distance high speed cruiser they are excellent!
Great job on the exhaust. It's sounds high performance a lot of tedious work went into that job if ever need anything like that done I'll have you do it real professional thanks for the videos
Thanks for the comments and support! It definitely was a bit of a bear but we love how it turned out, so does the customer :) It certainly won't be the last time we have her on video.
Looks amazing
Thank you! Everyone was pretty happy with how this thing turned out, how it looks and sounds. Definitely a good upgrade but MAN was it a pain!
Sweet looks. Like my black 95 mark VIII
You have nerves of steel i would have gotten so frustrated and walked away...for good! lol
There are a LOT of moments in Automotive work that try your patience AND your skill. This one, certainly did!
In the end though, turned out great and the customer loved it so everything was worth the struggle!
These things are badass
Good job !!!!
Thank you! If you are interested in seeing more about this car, there's another BIG video coming tomorrow!
graet work and much to do it...love your performance... and always beware of yo head !!!

I just bought a lincoln mark viii about 3 1/2 months ago. I'm debating on whether I want to do some performance mods to it or not.
They're great cars and a really cool classy platform, but, some modifications as you can see, are pretty challenging!
Sell it before it needs work.
I like it...Would like to do my 98 the same way
muffler tips that have a built it chamber so that when the 4.6 revs up to 5500-7500 they make a whistle sound similar to a turbocharger spinning real fast.
Lol reminds me of the ole "Whistle Tips" videos from years ago ;) There's a good chance it may get some wooshy wooshy sound in the near future though!
Suspension modifications are certainly something we plan to look at in the future, as with most rides you can increase the attitude by lowering the altitude ;)
Have you ever done side exit exhaust on a first gem mark viii?
Not yet but certainly would be willing to if someone wanted it! With the way the body is molded at the back for the exhaust tips though... might have to get creative ;)
All those beautiful parts, only to have so/so aluminized added to it without mandrel bends. Nice work, must've been a on a budget after the cost of those headers & labor, eh?
Since that is the 95 Base model 280hp he's going to need to upgrade the ecm from a 95 lsc 290hp to reach & achieve it's full potential with the tru dual exhaust.
It actually has a different ECU and a switchable tune system... there are more upgrades not too far down the road with this hotrod Lincoln! ;)

Question : Would a Cobra exhaust set-up give you extra horsepower with less restricted flow...??
The exhaust was swapped on is pretty high flowing with the only true "restriction" being the high flow cats that welded on after the headers.
Breathing wise, don't think she really has anything holding her back there. Fitment is a trick with these things though, even something made for the platform usually needs a little adjustment.
What part number are the looks header and where did you find the egr. Tube

I had a motor replaced in my 2000 crown vic, I'm sure they replaced it with a newer model motor. How can I tell what year it is without going back to ask the folks at the shop?
What kind of improvement did you get in HP & Tq?
We've actually never dyno'd it but wouldn't expect to get much at this point. It's more for the sound and style up grade. Once it goes through the next "phase" we'll be sure to get some dyno runs and data!
How did you get the headers?
How many hours did it take to do this job, and about what would your estimated price range for this type of job on a mark 8?
Where are you located and how much did that job cost? I have the same car.
As far as I am concerned, my 98 Lincoln Mark 8 is the best car ever made by Lincoln, (or by anybody for that matter). Sure, I'd love to put headers and true dual exhaust on my
car (not an L.S.C.), HOWEVER, this bad boy does just
fine without that mod.

This particular car has tunes for different settings it can switch between, there are bigger plans in the near future for this beautiful beast ;)
You'll get some great sound and a bit of performance doing just manifolds back exhaust, the factory manifolds are decent enough at stockish levels of power.
It's not just to show off 😉
We try to be as fair to the customer as we can be and not just "run up the clock" but we also need to protect ourselves costs wise. Typically we tend to split the additional hours/costs in some fashion.
Why not sawsol the cat off if ya got new ones?
Im one of the crazy people that put headers in his mark viii in the garage on the floor. It was not fun.
Oh god bless you for THAT! Definitely not a job to enjoy!
How long did it take?
Turned out amazing and i can only imagine how much that cost? Also im guessing the headers were meant for a 96-98 Cobra. And for what reason why did you put so many cats back on? Kinda defeats the purpose of long tubes?
Glad you like it! The headers and exhaust were all from Supercoupe Performance and were pretty dang close to what you would hope for. It's just a really really difficult platform to work on and when/if you break a bolt you're in for a world of fun!

Why does this car suck: I will give 8 reasons:
1. plastic fragile blend door for your heat and a/c. can't find parts and cant fix it.
2. can't pass emissions. dunno why, neither does Ford.
What rims are those
