    A marvellous fishing venue with all that huge amount of water lilies and what a joy exploring the small open water patches for an explosive bite. At time 18:12 that bite was awesome. Watching these videos I relive past happy fishing memories in a similar environment in the Spanish river Bullaque: Lots of water lilies and a prop bait cast into a patch of open water…splash! a big bass snagged in the stems of the lilies and a heck of a struggle to reel him in…I enjoyed this video a lot! My favourite fishing channel indeed.

    I was just shaking my head in amazement at the chunky smallmouths, and part of it is jealousy also, because I have yet to catch any thing on a whopper plopper, I do well with the hollow bodied frogs though. Right now the areas I fish are too choked with weeds, algae, and pads, but I'll go at it again when I have enough clear water. Great video!

      That’s true, the first time I fished this river all I caught was a little catfish and almost didn’t go back! I’ve been spending a lot of time there the last five years though, looking over maps, exploring new stretches, and finding all the spots the smallmouth like to hide. Once you know a stretch of river well you don’t have many slow days. There’s many rivers in MN that if I spent as much time fishing as I do on this one I could probably have just as much success.

    Where I used to live they decided to put smallies in the lake. I had never been smallmouth fishing before. I learned that a watermelon salamander Texas rig worked great! Also a Rapala with a a down turned lip in shallow water bouncing it off rip rap. I would catch them two at a time on a small rattle trap. Right on the same lure. I miss those days. I moved after 16 years to down size. I am looking for a stream or small creek to get back to fishing for them. I have been fishing retention ponds in the industrial parks around me. It's just crazy nobody fishes those ponds. Shawn

    I've noticed, and this is only a suggestion, that if I have a question about his equipment, from rod/reel, to kayak, to anchor, etc., NDYakAngler usually has answered someone else in a reply to an earlier comment. Because he has so many views, it might take a little digging, but this man is really good about sharing info....

    I can only dream if my local rivers would hold that quality of fish. Living near Chicago, I have to drive 2-3hrs. away to get to decent rivers and creeks like yours to fish. High fishing pressure and bucket heads ruined the fishery by me. I drive that far to try and find beautiful secluded areas away from civilization. Tempted on getting a kayak, but I think I would get frustrated fooling around with the gear on the boat. Paddle, rods, tackle...etc.😕 Great video...very therapeutic to watch

      Michael Balice... you really should try a yak... it will get you to untouched water very close to home. I fish of a 8ft yak with 5 rods and 3 camera's... you will adapt and not notice them. I did a review on a sub $200 yak that could get you started.

      Lots of great spots in the Chicago area. I live by and fish the fox river all time. It's loaded with smallies. The walleye aren't bad either. If you want a yak go to a demo day at a local dealer. Try Rocktown outfitters. Demo a good yak! Do not buy a cheap yak. Actually try the cheap $200 dollar has first then try this better ones. You will be able to see the difference right away. You can also find good used yaks.

      djgruv I hit the fox river a lot. From Carpentersville all the way down to N. Aurora. One of my favorite spots is Les Arens forest preserve in Mooseheart. The series of islands and that nice feeder creek going into the fox👍 Damn it! I am giving away my spots😁

      I live in the city and there are plenty of fish to be had even within city limits. Drive an hour away and you're on some great rivers. Do some research and get out there man. There's plenty of water that isn't pressured.

    • @michaelbalice1793
      @michaelbalice1793 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Collin Lamkin research? In 42 years believe me I did research. Fox river, Kankakee, Rock, Des plaines, Illinois, Salt creek and Dupage. Not saying that there is no fish in the city limits. What I was saying was the quality of fish that's near the city sucks, but I still fish it just to get out.

    • @littleshepherdfarm2128

      Same here but I've found that probably 50% of the problem is the reel. If it's not set up just right I end up with the same troubles...but that's not to say I suck at casting. LOL. ...But I kinda do so... :)
