Just caught my pb on the whopper plopper in a pressured pond. 3 lbs. I know a lot of people have much better pbs but I consider it good. Thanks for the tips!
I just got my PB on a whopper plopper 90, about 3 lbs also. I've been fishing that pond for 5 years with poppers and other baits and never caught anything over 1.5lbs. The whopper plopper is for real!!
Did you ever stop to consider he tried them all and narrowed it down to a few colors that work best?!? Nice that someone who fishes daily can do that for you so you don't waste money on a bunch of colors that under-perform compared to others.
You guys have the most in depth videos with the most useful information on the web period. I've been all over all the fishing apps and web sites trying to get you guys to your 100k goal! Your getting so close! You guys might do it!!!!
Something I noticed fishing both the 110 and the 130 is that the 130 can be fished slower and still have the right noise, I have to run my 110 much faster to get it to plop right...
Thank you for introducing me to the Whopper Plopper! I'm killing it with this bait. I love it and it really produces bass catches of all sizes. Love stop and go with this and have added several colors/ sizes to my bag.
Larry was definitely bitten by the 'homemade bug'. Many years ago a lot of us on the West Coast thought he was nuts with some of his Northeastern contraptions! He crossed the hemisphere of big game fish to Black Bass that started a big 'splash' in the industry. That a boy Larry... FHOF
i guess im asking randomly but does someone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
The note about the hard bottom makes a TON of sense. The lake that I spend a majority of my time on is mostly rock. However, I tend to get bites on the WP around softer bottoms. I can see how the loud sound could be bouncing around on the hard bottom either spooking or confusing the fish.
THE VIDEO I ASKED FOR WHAT THE HECK. You guys are awesome this is EXACTLY what I was wanting, always excited to see that notification when you guys post a new video!
Just found these lures couple weeks ago , and my buddy has been getting bite after bite ...!!!! I said I gotta investigate these lures and I ended up ordering 5 of them ..!!!!! Can't wait to use them !!!!!
Absolutely love your channel! You and Tim do a fantastic job at explaining the different facets of fishing. Learned a lot from watching you two. Thanks!!
Yoda 90 in Florida, over 50 bass in the last 3 months. I am outfishing my friends throwing different colors. I religiously fished a chugbug for the last 10 years and this lure has completely replaced it. Great information in this video, thank you for posting.
What a great video! Last year I had an unfortunate encounter with a small jaw that didn't want my whopper plopper rear treble in his mouth. He flipped into my hand. 2 of the 3 hooks in to the bone!! I had it surgically removed and they had to cut the split ring and hook obviously. I contacted River 2 Sea about it and they sent me new split rings and hooks and I noticed that they are a higher quality than the original hook and split ring so they are stepping up their game in that aspect! Great company and a fantastic bait!
I am so glad I watched this. My 90 has been spinning since day 1 and you are right, it destroys line. I would have never thought of adding a split ring and swivel. Thanks Matt.
This is classic TB: detailed, thorough, backed up by experience AND videotape, well-stated . . . I coud go on but won't. All those who now use this unlikely lure can now make fish it even more effectively thanks to you. Keep up the great work. (As an aside, I really wish that somebody would copy your approach for SALT water!)
My favorite type of bass fishing is top water. I’ve been seeing the whopper plopper craze for a long time but I’ve never joined in on it. I had a few Karl’s bait and tackle gift cards laying around that had little odd amounts left in them after big purchases. Had enough to get me 3 ploppers. Man I’m glad I did! I’ve been missing out. Most fun top water fishing I’ve ever had! I got them all in 110 size. I may try a 130. I love them. I got a bone, black, and shad color!
I've made it just shy of 2 minutes into this video and already know it's on point. No surprise with you guys though... Grew up bass and musky fishing in the north/midwest and canada. Plopper is a musky bait that's been brought to the bass world. Everybody loves topwater, so musky fishing I'd always have one of bucher's top raiders on the front deck. Didn't take me long to realize I was catching more really big bass while out musky fishing than while actually bass fishing -- and not just largemouth. Caught quite a few big smallmouth on them too. That's an 8" bait that's like 2+ oz...and they'd come un freaking glued on it. It's pretty awesome to see that all these years later somebody (you guys) is putting so much of this awesome info out there. Connecting a ton of dots from a ton of big bass days with a musky rod in hand!
Very informative, thanks! I'm mostly a pike fisherman, and dont really like topwaters much. Over the years though, I've notice that in very dirty water pike sometimes have an easyer time finding a lure on the surface, so I'm thinking I'll pick up a couple of these just to throw when the water is dirty, and hopefully turn around some slow days.
First ever whopper plopper type lure, I just ordered a black maverick choppo. Really hoping this color is good for all conditions. Hoping the black looks like a shadow in clear water and visible in stained as well.
Very intimidated by the Whopper plopper on the shelves at big box stores preciate you narrowing that down I now know that I'm doing it right all you need is a 3 color variants from one Spectrum to the other you're covered good info
Matt and Tim, as always, thank you for the great video guys! I live in SC and picked up a 130 bream color last week to throw on small ponds. It absolutely destroys them. All sizes of bass too! It's always funny to me when a dink smashes it and I pull it out of the water to find out it's not much bigger than the bait itself, cracks me up. Thanks for all you do and please keep it up! #TB4Life
If you love frog fishing but don’t get many fish or hook ups and you aren’t in heavy cover the plopper changed my life. alll 4 of my PBs were all with a 110 , 3 were with black , one bone and 3 were medium retrieve , but the biggest was a cast, splash once little pull sit 1-2 seconds and he hit it
Pretty cool to see the amount of subs you guys have now. I remember when you two were talking about wanting to get to 40K. Great videos with awesome information is definitely reflected in your subscriber growth. Thanks and keep the videos rolling.
I own both sizes 190 and the 90 and I have to say I was using the 190 whopper plopper one morning and I was just screwing around and I ended up catching a small largemouth bass that was the same size as the 190 whopper plopper.
I just got the Whopper Ploppers in my arsenal over a year ago and they are simply DEADLY here in the Florida lakes and ponds... I still have to try them in the Everglades and I am certain that it will be an absolute slaughter house of a bait in those waters. Perhaps one of the best baits I have in my box.
My brother. You are excellent with presenting. You always keep the bait, etc where I can watch as you explain. If it retrieves, casting or size for conditions. You cover it. Thank you
Thanks for putting this out there. I have several ploppers and have yet to get a hit on any of them. I guess I have been reeling too slow and pointing the nose up. I will give this a shot. You guys have the best fishing channel by far. Thanks for what you do.
Same here. Fishing New York I've tried throwing it in ponds, lakes and reservoirs around by me and like you said not even a hit. I believe everyone that they work so I'll keep trying.
Great video. This comment has nothing to do with the lure you're talking about. I can't help but be amazed at how well your trolling motor spot lock works, and how quickly your unit makes adjustments. I have a Riptide SP 70lb on my 21ft Carolina Skiff. It originally just came with the Co Pilot, but I bought the Auto Pilot upgrade head and installed it. Unless I'm in a stiff breeze or current, it has a hell of a time holding my boat. It just sits there until the boat drifts outside the spot circle, then it comes on and often over corrects, which causes another delayed adjustment followed by more over correction. How is yours so accurate? Your boat barely moves, yet that thing is still going back and forth making micro adjustments to keep you rock steady. I'm super jealous!
So glad i came across this one today! Just started throwing a whopper plopper, The only one i have right now is a Monkey Butt 90 and its been rolling like crazy and twisting the hell out of my line!
I love my perch colored popper. I need new hook, I have a small 200 acre pike gold mine I fish and they bent and even broke off a point on the front treble. It blows my mind how angry pike get with the whopper poppers. I was catching them on a 4.25 swimbait as well and the fight and strikes were totally different.
Great video. Top water fishing is probably the most exciting part of bass fishing for me. To experience a bite on a whopper plopper or any other top water lure makes being out there worth it every time.
I've been wondering if you tied up a little plopper with a big plopper tied on behind it making it look like a bigger fish is going after a little fish kinda thing would work well...
I live in NM and one of my local lakes has fish from every climate largemouth smallmouth spotted and white bass, and northern pike. And i caught a 2 foot pike on a whopper plopper
You have great videos! I took the Whopper Plopper out and caught 2 largemouth tonight and another larger bass came out of the water and missed the bait.
Thank you for the swivel tip! I had the rear hook grab the tail when I went fishing this afternoon. The lure went into a spin and the swivel took up most of the twisting. I just happened to watch this video yesterday.
I LIVE in Montana n we have a lot of rivers with a lot of Rapids with lots of currents so what I'm asking would these whoppers poppers work in rivers like Yellowstone River or Madison rivers . Thank u a Montana lady that LOVES TO FISHING
This is absolutely true, in a very rocky bay I get more and bigger fish on a 75 or 90. But when it's very muddy or grassy, I get almost no bites unless I go up to at least a 110 but 130 works better. Thanks for the tips it made so much sense I had to experiment! Verified!!

This could be a dumb question but Iv been using this ghost color for awhile it’s killer!!! but now Iv notice water getting inside after using it for couple hrs is that normal? To have water get inside the body?? Or is it time for a new one??? Couldn’t find any damage on it or a crack…?
I bought one from tackle ware house a little few weeks ago. Very first cast with it EVER and I got a dink large mouth. No bites on it for the rest of the day but I thought that was too crazy.
Caught few keepers and pickerel here in pa. I know it's a deadly bait but just can't find the best time for them to shine.. I love dual purpose baits and like you mention using it as a popper works..
How do you increase hook up ratio. Bought the 90 black/loon color and the bluegill 90 and both work great. Had 10 blow up from largemouth and only hooked 3. Till a musky ate the loon.
Any tips on color selection? As in which color for clear vs muddy water? What about overcast vs sunny days? And last what is coldest water you get bit on it?
I removed the tail hooks off all my WP's. more than 90% of the fish I caught always had the front hooks in the mouth and the tail hook is either buried in the gill, its eye or stuck in the fish's head somewhere. The removal had no effect on the action and doesn't injure the fish or the fisherman. Fav colors for me black, bone and that clearish blue color. I'm going to pick up some 110's this week. In the heat of the summer we have an orange dragonfly hatch and the bass go nuts over them. I want to get an orange WP painted up with a clear tail
Dude great tip. Yea I get to mad when a back hooks down in the Gill or eye or the fish that hungry it goes in the throat so I'm gonna try that thanks sir. God bless
*Tom C* I, too, have chosen to remove all the rear trebles from my lures, with the exception of a jitter bait--I removed the front one. Seen too many anglers on TH-cam get stuck by a thrashing fish; or the fish gets snagged in the body or vital regions. Most of the time, as you said, the fish gets front hooked in the mouth, and that's the only hook I need to worry about.
10.41 bird flys in kinda appears from left behind him and dont see it pass ... then in distance 10:46 in back right .. is it the bird is it a drone then kinda blips out? Idk.. thought it was oddly cool.
Tactical Bassin drinking game: a shot Everytime Matt says "Deadly"
Hahaha I would be hammered
deadly, murdered, suicide ... sounds like Matt has a dark side
Don’t forget “crushed it”!

WiscoBass we gotta add come unglued to list.
Just caught my pb on the whopper plopper in a pressured pond. 3 lbs. I know a lot of people have much better pbs but I consider it good.
Thanks for the tips!
My pb for lmb is 0 so good on ya
I say that's a great start. My pb is 3.5 hoping to upgrade this summer
I just got my PB on a whopper plopper 90, about 3 lbs also. I've been fishing that pond for 5 years with poppers and other baits and never caught anything over 1.5lbs. The whopper plopper is for real!!
i caught my pb of 3.5 for idaho a few days a ago on a plopper
i caught my pb on hotdogs lol. about 6 pounds
"I keep it simple" has 30 whopper ploppers... Haha
Did you ever stop to consider he tried them all and narrowed it down to a few colors that work best?!? Nice that someone who fishes daily can do that for you so you don't waste money on a bunch of colors that under-perform compared to others.
MotoAtheist what’s your problem?
Loon & powder. Only two you need.
I can’t even barley afford one haha
@@gabelove9644 amazon has 6 for 22.95 search plopper lures
How is he handling those ploppers so easily without getting his hands hooked ! Lol he must be a fishing genius 🙂
I always end up with whopper plopperrs in my fingers
Always hook my hands!
You guys have the most in depth videos with the most useful information on the web period. I've been all over all the fishing apps and web sites trying to get you guys to your 100k goal! Your getting so close! You guys might do it!!!!
Drew Farmer yup
Thank you so much Drew! We really appreciate it!
TacticalBassin you didn't mention what size power swivel you recommend. What is a good size to use on the 90-130?
If you slow your retrieve will it still spin ?
Drew Farmer it's Matt. He honestly does explain stuff so well and i'd go as far too say he's probably one of the best bass fisherman in this sport..
Something I noticed fishing both the 110 and the 130 is that the 130 can be fished slower and still have the right noise, I have to run my 110 much faster to get it to plop right...
@cutlerylover Holy Damn You fish too?? I love your Channel Especially when it comes in Knives :D Keep it up On the Fishing Vids
cutlerylover i agree
thanks yeah learning a lot getting serious fishing this year...
thanks :)

Best informative fishing videos on TH-cam period. I hope this channel eventually gets the attention it truly deserves. Great video as usual!
I watched the show Larry did on TV when he was developing the Plopper for Muskies. Killer bait on smallies
You could make one LONG Plopper train with all those lol
that was an amazing video
He could replace the back hook with a snap and do it
front runner?👀
i guess im asking randomly but does someone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account?
I somehow forgot my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
@Crew Nash instablaster ;)

So simple but so far beyond anything we'd considered! Glad its resonating with you too

Thanks!
Hope he doesn't doze off while watching it, he'll miss all this good stuff. lol
I can stay here all day long watching you fishing and giving tips 👌
Thanks bud!
My eyes were fixed on your trolling motor holding your boat in place. That's awesome.

Amazed at the helpfulness, expertise and method of explanation of this guy. Instant subscription, where have I been?

I'm just envious. I can barely afford 1 or 2 of these. And a 40 inch Musky broke me off at Marsh Creek PA.
You're very lucky my brother.
Tight lines!!
Pretty cool to see the amount of subs you guys have now. I remember when you two were talking about wanting to get to 40K. Great videos with awesome information is definitely reflected in your subscriber growth. Thanks and keep the videos rolling.
heheheeh i remember them hopeing for 1000, this chan. is the best common sense fishing out there!
I own both sizes 190 and the 90 and I have to say I was using the 190 whopper plopper one morning and I was just screwing around and I ended up catching a small largemouth bass that was the same size as the 190 whopper plopper.

I have an entire case of the 130 size, absolutely LOVE them!
They are great!
Why just the 130 sz? Is that size overall the best universal size to throw? (Newbie here) thx
My brother. You are excellent with presenting. You always keep the bait, etc where I can watch as you explain. If it retrieves, casting or size for conditions. You cover it. Thank you
Another home run Matt. Been using the whopper plopper here in Pennsylvania on the Susquehanna river for the last 4 years. Its my go to lure.
Just impulsively picked up a black 110 and this video makes me feel good about my purchase. Hopefully it works for me
The 190 is sick! I fish it the most, and it'll catch giants and dinks. It's crazy.
Cought 4 over 5 lb and 7 in the 2 to 4 lb range on whopper plopper today may b my new fav top water
Just the name alone is Awesome. Definitely stand out in the industry.
The Lucy color in the 190 size is killer on musky n pike!
you define your own variables with know facts on lures just as I do programming.
I'm one of the eastern bass guys just discovering this bait. Cant wait to try it this spring. Just got two 90s for my birthday in bone and sexy shad.
I'd love to see an update to this video with the addition of the 60 and 75 sizes.
Great video. Top water fishing is probably the most exciting part of bass fishing for me. To experience a bite on a whopper plopper or any other top water lure makes being out there worth it every time.
I picked some up today. I can’t wait to try them out. Thanks for the video.
Matt your videos Rock always informative and geared toward Big Fish with in depth tips. Thanks Man !
I just bought 3 of the 75's and 3 of the Ozark Trail too. Can't wait to see how they work. Rumor has it they don't work as good in Michigan.
Do you ever upsize hooks to get diffrent sound and lower in water?
I did notice old style light hooks and did change hooks to the owner 3x. Great work Matt and Tim keep it up. Almost there
Awesome! Thanks Bud!
Great video! Top Water For Life
Thanks Chris
Oh man. Discovered it today. I've never had so much fun! Crushed it on the 110! Such a fun lure
Yeah buddy!!!
Thank you for the swivel tip! I had the rear hook grab the tail when I went fishing this afternoon. The lure went into a spin and the swivel took up most of the twisting. I just happened to watch this video yesterday.
Add another split ring to existing one to back hook and this will go away.
Verified!!
I have 2 90 ploppers that are heavy. They actually will sink before retrieving. Can I make them lighter?
I replaced my trebles with the red mustad. The hook on the back of the plopper being a white feather tied mustad hook. It works FANTASTIC
This and a frog are the only topwater i use. The plopper is hands down the best on the market. Ive caught sooooo many lunkers on it
ive found that the newer 90mm size it does submerge swim a bit if i reel it back to fast.
I just got a few 75s in a few different colors. Bone, Bluegill and Monkeybutt. Supposed to be a smallmouth smasher.
That auto troller in the back is doing work!!
Minn Kota on SpotLock or Motorguide Xi5 on AnchorLock will change the way you fish. I know my Xi5 is one of the best investments I have ever made for my Triton 240 LTS. Get the Gateway cable to link it to your Lowrance HDS and it's dynamite.

I came here looking for this comment. :-)
This could be a dumb question but Iv been using this ghost color for awhile it’s killer!!! but now Iv notice water getting inside after using it for couple hrs is that normal? To have water get inside the body?? Or is it time for a new one??? Couldn’t find any damage on it or a crack…?
Thanks Matt, great information, like always I like the way you explain the baits name of them ,and how to use them. Thanks again.
Stating that the tail gets warped is the reason why I went to the Berkley Choppo. Same bait, with a hard tail. No worries about the tail warping.
Great tips guys, Dahlberg is the man!
Just started fishing the plopper this year. I have been impressed. Great vid btw.
Any thoughts on the 190 for bass? Spring at all or summer to fall? Or should I exchange it for a 130?
Spot lock seems to be working well.
i’m wondering if when using a 130 will fish under 2 pounds hit it or will it spook smaller largemouths?
I bought one from tackle ware house a little few weeks ago. Very first cast with it EVER and I got a dink large mouth. No bites on it for the rest of the day but I thought that was too crazy.
Yeah buddy! That's awesome!
Thanks for the incredible tips. So jealous every time I see the spot lock in action. Great videos as always fellas.
Can I use the 65 pound braided line for the 190? Or I have to use 80 pound?
I have white and black.... what is the best time to throw which one?
I love to use those. I've found that they are very effective year round. My favorite one is called the t 1000 and it slays them.
Caught few keepers and pickerel here in pa. I know it's a deadly bait but just can't find the best time for them to shine.. I love dual purpose baits and like you mention using it as a popper works..
Should I tie direct to the lure or is a leader needed?
I love the whopper plopper I have the white and bone both has produce great fish. Gonna add more of them to my tackle bag
Another great video! I always take away something from your videos. This year was my best year on the water!
Nice! Great tip!
Dude great tip. Yea I get to mad when a back hooks down in the Gill or eye or the fish that hungry it goes in the throat so I'm gonna try that thanks sir. God bless
Tom C could replace it with a regular hook?
Always in side of head or body

I, too, have chosen to remove all the rear trebles from my lures, with the exception of a jitter bait--I removed the front one.
Seen too many anglers on TH-cam get stuck by a thrashing fish; or the fish gets snagged in the body or vital regions. Most of the time, as you said, the fish gets front hooked in the mouth, and that's the only hook I need to worry about.
The fish at 5:28 was def a paid actor
I want one of the big ones for stripers next season. Living here in Connecticut. We get some crazy Striper action during the run.
Any Ideas for size n color fishing in tea stained water?
What size swivels do you like to use?
I got 90 pearch color for pike cuz in our country pike are beetwen 20cm to 50 is it good enough
The 90 is deadly for smallmouth up here in Canada. Caught two at once one day this summer.
How do you recommend removing grass that is caught up in the spinning portion? Thanks
Trying to decide between a 90 and 110 any opinions?
