Great Video tutorial. Can you please add a link to where you get the voice coil for this shallow mount kicker subwoofer speaker. My subwoofer coil is also burnt. I can try the diy approach or just replace it.

For clarity, so passive radiators would need to be more (tuned for the port rather than xmax of driver) in a bigger box thereby stating the formula for radiator use to match xmax will get you in the ballpark instead of matched with the port calculations? I can describe differently if it helps or maybe make a video to expand on this a little bit more concisely?
Hey man, great video. I was wondering if you have any video how to replace the surround ? I have a pair of Kicker XPL 12s and the foam surrounds are wasted. I figure it's a hard job since they are stitched into the cone. But I was going to DIY if I could get help and/or replacement surrounds in the first place. Thank you
I have the same model 12 inch sub and I believe one of the negative terminals has a bad connection. Its a 2ohm dual voice coil sub and the resistance measured from one coil's negative and positive is all over the place when using the terminals. When I measure from the positive terminal and the first negative tinsel loop on the spider I get a perfect 2ohm measurement. Any suggestions on the steps I should take to make a repair that doesn't involve complete disassembly? Thanks for any help. Kicker Comp RT12 48CWRT122
My first kicker i cooked it my second on i looked after it better i haven’t cooked it but one of those little wires broke instead is there any better brand out there to buy that will actually last ??

I have this exact woofer that I damaged about 3 woofers ago but I had kept it because I really loved the sound quality and eventually wanted to try and fix and never found anything online about this perticular sub until I stumbled upon this and now I just need to attempt
Hello Angel. For the spider, I ended up using the 8 inch outer, 3 inch inner diameter semi cupped progressive roll spider from lord of bass. I believe cost is $10-12 each (XHDZ068-2 is part number). For the coil, I purchased a 4 layer 49.5mm copper voice coil on an aluminum former from Aliexpress. The part number for coil Item# 8162904946459316. I hope this helps you and thanks for watching.

Kicker is a great brand. If it’s new, it will be covered by warranty.

Your best bet will be to look for a used/damaged one off eBay/offerup/market place. Also reach out to robot underground to see if they have it.

How did you remove the cone from the coil? What chemical did you use to remove the old glue?
If you are referring to the dust cap, I briefly heated the edge with a hot air gun and slipped my accessory tools (plastic pry bar) under the edge.
@@Moegneto I was wondering how you removed the coil from the cone and spider pack without damaging them. To replace only the coil and/or spiders.
@@Moegneto I see that the CVX has a 2 part cone. One part is glued to the other underneath. Would I need to separate them to replace the coil?

I would imagine the R uses a different voicecoil height as it has a deeper motor opening. I recommend taking it apart and getting all measurements.

I would think the 12 does have a different coil because it handles more power. Take it and measure to be sure.
