I love the older Homelites. I have that very same saw and a couple similar models as well as a few of the larger model XL12's. They made some really good saws once upon a time. You don't get very many chainsaws Mike but I always enjoy watching your chainsaw vids when they come out.😊

Ya I used to but not to many people in my area even own chainsaws. I only have one because I will on occasion get large branches fall from a variety of large trees around me.

I would say somehow it got way to much oil in the crankcase. Just run it and it will clean it's self out. I don't think they have a spark arester to plug anyway.

Ok, I have the same saw. Here is my problem. I just bought it and there wasn’t a tightening screw for the bar, I bought a stainless steel screw and put it in, the saw somehow self tightened its chain…??? Any idea how to stop this ???

The screw is moving the adjuster. I would take the blue lock tight. It is removable but keeps the screw from moving. Not the best solution but it would be cheap and effective

What us the mixing ratio of oil and petrol? Because I got exactly the same one from my grandfather and I don‘t know exactly what kind of mixture it needs.

      40:1 would be best

Not to confuse, but it's 16:1. I guarantee it. That's what the manual states.

i have a early 70s 80cc roper made craftsman chainsaw, i got it for 15 bucks, it idles and runs great after a decent amount of work, but i dont know what to do with the gas tank, it leaks fuel everywhere, i havent cut anthing with it, i am new to chainsaws, and its a basic chainsaw with no saftey features from the 70s, barely vibrates when you're holding it though.

I would look at where the fuel lines into the tank. Could be leaking there. May need to replace rubber securing the line if it has one. If it cranked you can buy a tank sealer. Por-15 might work.

@PNWSmallEngineandLawn the gas tank is also 2 non sealed metal shells, I've tried to take it apart but the screws are on the edge of being fully stripped, don't think I can replace the screws
