Hansi sounds incredible here! He always sounds good, but he seems to be singing the old songs in his full "distorted" voice like they sounded back in the day. When I've seen them in more recent years he tends to lower his octave on some of the really high notes and sing them rather than scream them, which I'm assuming is so he can preserve his voice for an entire tour. I would love to have seen this show!
As far as I know, he was taking vocal classes. When you sing this kind of songs for this long, eventually your voice wears out. If you don't use the proper technique, chances are it won't last a whole show, let alone a whole tour, so you're kind of forced to save it. So I'm assuming that he came back to singing with the aggression and the heavy drives because he acquired the proper technique for it. Anyways, the man is like wine.
I hope you heard him doing his version of song "Call Of The Wild" with powerwolf recently. In this song/cover you can hear that old G.O.A.T. Hansi is back

His distortion was always the good one, the one that hurts your voice is manual distortion like the one Jon Bon Jovi used. He is singing with aggression again because he has a way to recover the clean tone after a concert. Another thing is that singing like he does demands a lot of energy.

I saw them 2003 in the same location. back then i was so massivley impressed by the sound of this venue. And still, it feels the same like nearly 2 decades ago. The only thing they did wrong, was letting Thomen go. Aftet that everything went south (musically). But until then one of the greates metal bands of all times. They had a massive influence on me and I think I would be another person, if not for them, as they made me a metal head! Thanks Blind Guardian!

Ich war von der Show vom Dong Open Air sehr enttäuscht. Deswegen wollte ich mal die Gelegenheit nutzen eine andere Show aus dem gleichen Sommer zu sehen. Das Konzert hier ist 100% mal motivierter und natürlich nochmal auf Grund der Setlist was ganz besonderes.
Es gibt Bands die sind richtig gut auf CD und es gibt Bands die sind Live besser wie auf CD. Blind Guardian sind defenetiv die absolute Liveband. Habe schon das ein oder andere Konzert von denen besucht und alle CDs im Regal. Am liebsten höre ich die Livecds.

Hansi ,sounded great on the demons and wizards tour as well and that was pre covid.
Their new bass player is very tight, the mix also helps and probably very thick picks but I love the high attack on the strings.
He played with Ayreon on their two big live shows, Ayreon Universe and the Into the Electric Castle. Hansi also appeared in the former, he's great!

The band bangs out every festival, whether here in front of 7000 fans or in Wacken in front of over 80000 fans, they are the live monsters.
