The Offspring, c’est la madeleine de Proust façon punk rock ! La bande d’éternels adolescents ramène le Hellfest au tournant des années 90/2000.
Qui n'a pas eu de crâne enflammé collé sur son sac à dos n'a pas été adolescent dans les années 90/2000. Derrière ce logo, un groupe : The Offspring. Les Californiens sont à l'origine de certains des plus gros hits de ces trente dernières années : "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid", "The Kids Aren't Alright", "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)"... autant de morceaux incontournables pour toute boum qui se respectait !
L'aventure The Offspring commence réellement avec le single "Self Esteem" (1994) qui propulse la bande au sommet des charts mondiaux. L’album Americana (1998) enfonce le clou et place le groupe au panthéon du teen rock. Entre 2000 et 2012, la formation continue sur sa lancée et publie quatre opus bourrés de joyeux appels à la rébellion.
Malgré le temps qui passe, The Offspring n'a jamais perdu son énergie et sa griffe hyper reconnaissable. Pour preuve : Let the Bad Times Roll, paru en 2021. C'est cette discographie de dingue que les Californiens viennent jouer au Hellfest ! Prochain arrêt : votre adolescence. C'est parti !

A few things:
1. Offspring have never sounded better and that’s in large part to the new drummer. That guy is NUTS.
2. The crowd are bonkers 👏
3. The visual editing and audio mixing is outstanding.

I’ve toured large clubs in Europe as roadie. European crowds are nuts in general. Also, clubs and festivals in many European countries get government funding/grants as part of supporting the arts. These kids grew up with live music. American bands can do really well in Europe and be virtually unknown back home.
Dexter looks so healthy and singing best than 20 years ago. Love this show. Thanks so much.

Looks like autotune is used.
And backing vocals seem to be backing tracks / mixed. Vocals are too clean. Clue: charleston is used at the beginning of songs to keep things synced.

Неделю назад (21 сентября) посчастливилось попасть на их концерт в Camden, NJ. Такой же плей-лист играли. Но впервые попал под самую сцену. Мужики, там такой звук, такая энергетика была! Просто башню сносило. Ни разу до этого не был в слэме, а там ноги сами понесли в толпу. После концерта сразу поехал в ночную смену на работу. Обычно рубился уже к полуночи, а в тот день адреналина хапнул столько, что ни в одном глазу и намека на сон не было. Приехал утром домой и заснуть никак не мог. В общей сложности 20 часов не спал. Offspring лучшее лекарство против сна🤘

@@dawidsadlik3531 I was somewhere in the middle, in the axis of the giant screen between the two stages and it sounded more or less that great. It was amazing.
@@dawidsadlik3531 I haven't watched all of this video yet, but there's some videos online where they're definitely either lip syncing or at the very least having some supplementary vocal backing tracks.
@@andrewblawson there is one sort of lip-sync/backing track performance from a few years ago when Dexter was sick (he looks completely ill too during that performance)
@@Exiust glad it's not every show. I watched bits of this one and didn't notice anything in the lead vocals that sounded pre-recorded.

I had no idea The Offspring still sounded this good. They're passing through my town in a few months and I'm definitely getting tickets after watching this.
They're using autotune live too. This isn't what his voice sounds like unaltered unfortunately. But they're still OG's and time gets us all.

@@markcastellanet9672 I can hear it, if you listen in to the vocals you can hear it. It's rampant in live performances these days sadly. But I saw i offspring about ten years ago at download Festival and they sounder awful, so this is a welcome upgrade even though its a bit of trickery

Dexter looks better then in 2000 and has more energy on the stage then than. He's more enthusiastic and have fun along the music. He even runs around, laugh, jump and hype the crowd. Brilliant. And the drummer just brings hell on these drums 😮
Offspring might become one of the big comebacks to the front lines of festivals and such. Like they were here for the whole time but the quality they bring now is unmatched to the last decade of their performances if not from 2 decades 🤔 . Wow 👏

Мне почему то это напомнило выступление на Вудстоке99 форма очков схожа с теми что были только цвет не синий а черный.Действительно Декстер похудел и вокал стал сильнее .Барабащик действительно крутой,группа растет .Даже сиськи были в кадре,удивительно ..Как в старые добрые времена

When I went to Hellfest some years ago, I lost my phone in the mosh pit during Bring me the Horizon concert.
I didn't enjoyed the offspring full due to that.
But well, because of the mosh pit, it's better not to take your phone too other than enjoying the concert fully.

I've seen the Offspring 9 times since 1986, the last one in Milwaukee for the H-D Homecoming '24 - essentially this exact set list, commentary, jokes - the Offspring NEVER disappoints I will be there again when they tour in support of "Supercharged"!!! ✌✌❤❤🤘🤘

I saw them at Hellfest 2016 (you can check on youtube) and his voice was really bad. It's very much better now and sounds fantastic indeed 😍
He's always had a very high voice at times. Looks like he's found a more comfortable range for his age. And agreed they sound great compared to previous years.

There is pitch correction I would say and some other effects. Doesn't seem natural sometimes.

Its really hard to believe how good Dexter's voice has aged. He sounds so on tune its ridiculous! The whole show was awesome I shed some tears in some songs from nostalgia.

@@kuvasik in fact, what they used on his voice was just a volume correction, if you watch the original live you will notice how his voice seems much lower in some songs and not in others, the intonation remains the same.

J’y étais, c’est le plus gros bordel que j’ai vu de mes propres yeux, des centaines de personnes ont slammé pendant tout le set, bravo aux agents de sécu qui en ont prit plein la tronche (et les festivaliers qui ont eu du boulot pour porter tout ce beau monde)
C'est clair, ça faisait longtemps que j'avais pas vu un aussi gros bordel. Mais quel show incroyable, parfait pour terminer le festival !

watching this and instantly remembered when i was 12 in 1994 in my neighbour's friend house listening to "smash" album and instantly felt in love with it.
That drummer is a drumming Wunderkind. Just look at the list of bands he's already worked in. The solo at 35:55 is not your typical punk rock drumming (as much as I think good drumming is what makes a good punk band)

Saw them live last year, and holy shit, amazing energy after all these years.
The sound of my early teenage years, criminally underrated band, drowned out by grunge in the early days and the likes of blink, green day etc. later on. Got to see them in Leeds, England a couple of years ago, probably one of the oldest people there 😂 Great upload, thanks

I'm into GNR, Metallica and whatever great music of the year it is. In the 90s I loved them but I didn't think they hit so hard live. Yesterday on my sofa Friday, without beer or a woman by my side, dancing like a child...Very grown ups, long live good music and not the fucking shit of now and music for the deaf!!!
