Scottish Fantasy in E flat major, Op. 46, is a composition for violin and orchestra by Max Bruch. The writing is described for Scotland with its rugged landscapes and medieval ruins, was one of the places chosen by the romantics. Bruch would have been inspired of the works by writer and poet Walter Scott. The dark beginning of the fantasy, would represent an old bard contemplating a castle in ruins and remembering its glorious past. The spirit of Scotland is equally present in the use of Scottish folk melodies in the four movements of the composition, and in the practice of a solo violin and a harp, two instruments considered typical and singular of Scotland and North of England. This work is one of the finest in Max Bruch's repertoire. Think or imagine is choosing the fantasy that you want in life. *Lucien*

Clara Jumi Kang was 4th in weak Tchaikovsky competition and some totally deaf crazy people claiming Kang is the greatest Sibelius violin concerto player! Weak competition 4th prize winner is not that Great!!

Adagio Cantabile 4:42 is one of the most powerful pieces of music ever written!
A lot of parts I felt like I was watching some really sad Chinese Drama, especially at the beginning. Later was an English Afternoon Tea. Then some American fight chase. Some melodrama. A patriotic west. Some dreamy encounters. A spin of fun. An end to the wild day---sleepy rest---BOOM time to dream a wild dream now. That's the best thing about Instrumental pieces, they let you do the imagination.

Congratulations! Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra has succeeded in getting a lot of women into the orchestra. Something to look up to for us in the so called western hemisphere. And Clara-Jumi Kang is as usual outstanding, she is among the best violinists in this world.
What Bruch achieved here was a glorious outpouring of pure love. Nothing to jar anybody’s happy feelings..
The love was duly delivered in this super performance. The practicality of the Scottish tunes is faithfully conveyed here.
you know~ for whatever intonation is a bit off - she just makes up for it with a lot of gutsiness. MAN - its so sweet to see a Korean violinist play with such emotional zest.

클라라 주미강의 테크닉은 놀랍습니다. 5악장이라는 긴 길이의 곡을 무용수와 같은 지치지 않는 활력과 집중력으로 구석 구석 세밀하게 다듬어진 소리들..어떤 유명 바이올리니스트와도 전혀 손색이 없는 거의 완벽한 수준 입니다. 놀랍고 자랑스럽습니다. 앞에는 많은 청중들, 뒤에는 80 여명의 오케스트라, 천장에는 자기를 비추는 조명들.. 솔로이스틀에겐 그야말로 전쟁터 입니다. 이 압박감을 이겨내고 저렇게 훌흉한 연주를 하기까지 그뒤안길의 고된연습과정들을 또 얼마나 힘들었을까요, 또한 세계적으로 유명한 콩쿠르또한 석권한 경력을 가지고 있으니 자랑스런 대한민국의 딸입니다. 이제는 옛날과 달이 서울시향의 소리또한 세계적입니다. 한국의 오케스트라가 많이발전하여 여러 외국지휘자들도 한국의 오케스트라를 많이 칭잔한다고 들은바 있습니다. 모두가 솔로이스트의 기량을 가진사람들을 멤버로 기용하고 개인연습에 많은시간을 투자한 결과 이겠지요. 지휘자 성시경의 지휘 또한 대단히 마음에 듭니다. 세부적이지 않는 정명훈 지휘자와는 달리 세부적이며, 음량을 조절하는 기술을 지니고 있으며, 비트의 정확과 각악기들의 소리의 발란스를 잘 유지해주고 있는 지휘자인것 같습니다. 여성지휘자인데 대단히 잘 트레이닝된 지휘자 이군요. 모든부분의 연주가 너무좋아 글을 올립니다. 대한민국음악계가 이제는 세계어디에 내어놓아도 절대로 뒤지지않고 오히려 본보기가 된 연주회인것은 틀림없어 보입니다. 본인 또한 지휘자로서 모든분들께 칭찬해드리고 싶습니다. 참 좋은연주에 감사 드립니다.

이상하게 한번 들어오면 무조건 끝까지 듣고가게되는 영상이에요. 왜 그럴까 잠시 고민해보다 이내 든 생각- 이유가 뭐가 중요하겠어요! 이것저것 뜻대로 되지 않아서 피곤했던 하루, 쇼파에 등 기대고 누워서 이 순간만큼은 세상 편하고 행복하게 감상하고 갑니다. 16:02 부터는 숨쉬기도 아까운 감동 그자체... 기회가 있다면 또 한번 실황으로 듣고 싶어요 🤍

I think though that there is camera mal-practice in this performance. The harp has prominent role in the 1st & 4th movements, and yet you do not see the harp being played at all.

A great recording of an amazing performance. I have and will listen to it over and over. It is a treasure. One nit: in a piece where the harpist plays such a key role, could you please get a camera angle that shows her face? The reason many of us prefer listening to music on TH-cam is to see the facial expressions of the performers. It adds so much! The harpist should have shared center stage on this piece. Oh, and CJK was increible! ;)

After listening to this about five hundred times, I have finally realized that a lot of what I find so attractive about this piece is attributable to the amazing conducting of Shi Yeon Sung. I hope to hear more of her work.

어쩌다 우연히 알게 된 곡이어서 이사람 연주 저사람 연주 주로 차에서 들었는데 집에 앉아 영상도 보니 더 재미납니다. ㅎㅎ
" 금강산도 식후경 ! "이라고 했읍니다.
사람은 우선 건강하고 볼일입니다. 건강 하셔야 합니다. 서두르지 마시고 먼길을 가셔야 합니다.
부르흐의 연주를 이렇게까지나 아름답게 표현한 주미강님의 노력과 재능이 정말로 보기 좋습니다. 저는 3악장을 연주 해봤는데 쉽지 않았는데 이렇게까지 아름답게 연주하기란 쉽지 않음을 알아서 더욱 멋있는 것 같습니다.
Jumi 강의 연주는 작곡가의 樂想을 풍부하게 현에 담으려는 노력이 돋보입니다. 1악장에서 Bruch의 romantic한 감정이 애잔하게 울리네요.
