    I want to love my pixel buds, but I'm on my second pair from google and it's worse than the first pair I had. First pair was almost flawless until it the right earbud bricked itself during an overnight update. Now the new pair I got from Google randomly pauses and has static in the background in my right ear. The sound signature is perfect and the call clarity is really fine almost impressive as I've had full conversations with customers over the phone while in a loud store with a mask on. I like the idea of having portable open-back headphones, but they typically sit on my desk at home when I go out nowadays.
    They honestly shouldn't have priced them above their competition which was definitely a dumb move considering the lack of polish on these.

    I bought a pair a couple months ago, and I've got to say it's one of the best products I've ever bought. They're just satisfyingly well made, and really intuitive to use. My only complaint is the occasional connection dropouts, which are rare, but pretty bad when they happen

      Hey, I got my Pixel Buds today and I'm a bit skeptical about this one. Everything is great so far except for the battery. I started with 100% on both sides and after exactly 1 hour of continuous music I see my left bud has 64% and my right bud has 56% left. Looks odd to me to be honest. And I heard this was supposed to last 5 hours on continuous music.
      Did you face something similar? How much battery backup do you get generally?

    • @CliffSturgeon

      I use mine on runs (as that was one of the advertised uses in the buds ad). It's a pretty bad experience. The music cuts in and out constantly, which is pretty jarring when I'm trying to enter a mindless running state. It even does it when the in ear detection is off, which is what I originally suspected was the culprit.
      Not moving the phone helps, but that's almost impossible when running.

    I like your review It was very concise. one of the issues that were fixed was that used to be this white noise when you had a phone connection with someone they were able to eliminate that completely. however I'm still having problems with the earbuds audio sound cutting in and out from time to time just very random. It doesn't happen nowhere as near as much as it did before but it still can be quite annoying. as far as phone calls are concerned I haven't had any complaints about the call quality I believe they are some of the best earbuds in the business for phone calls. Everyone says that they are my best buds. Music, I'm not a real big fan. They're okay. If you're listening to newer music then they're okay but if you listening to older music you may want to try something else. Also there are times when the Google Assistant does not respond as well as as it should. There are a lot of bugs with the pixel buds that are just very infrequent but they are annoying especially when you pay $200. But I'm sure like a dummy when they come out with their pro version of these buds I will be buying them... Lol

    Had a pair for 9 months, had the same issues with the occasional death of one of them. A full reset would fix it though and it didn't happen all that often to be a nuisance. However, the battery life degraded to the point where the left one only lasted a little over an hour, the right one just under 4. A full reset did bring the left one back to about 2 hours but obviously this was becoming a major issue which required RMA. Another annoying issue was that the right one had less volume than the left. Swapping them around confirmed it.

    Josh, that echo sound is because of the sharing detection is on - it thinks they're in two separate persons ears. since I've turned sharing detection off, I've had no such issue.

    • @Kozwalt
      @Kozwalt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not why. That setting has always been off on mine and that happens to be on a regular basis. Still love my buds though. Quick pause and play usually does the trick.

      @JanosZakarias 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kozwalt ever since I've turned off sharing detection, I no longer have that issue. And pause & play did not solve it. Are we sure we're talking about the same problem?

      I don’t believe you can, you need an android device to update the firmware since there’s no iOS app for them.

    Hi guys! I need help. I have autism and music is my life. I have used iPhone for years since their earbuds where the only ones that stayed in my ears. The rubber tips of other earbuds just don't stay. I switched to android for a better OS and now can't use my apple earbuds with their controls. I got the Galaxy Buds Live for Christmas today and loved them and their controls, but the buds are too big and hurt the bridge of my ear, even when I swap rubber wings. I'm now looking at the Pixel Buds now instead of waiting for the possibility of the Buds Pro fitting me. People with small ears: do the pixel buds work well for you? I'm desperate to get back into listening. The earbuds that came with my Galaxy s20+ were stolen from me. They didn't fit anyway but they were all I had. If anyone with really small ears can tell me about your Pixel Buds, I would really appreciate it.

    Those hickups shouldn't be their in 200$ earphones. No way to buy.
    These days tech just overpriced, doesn't justify any tech product with the price they offer... Such a crape from Google, Apple, Samsung all big giants.

    Great review! But. I just purchased these and after all updates they are unusable unless my phone is held at elbow level. I almost no situation do they allow me to walk more than 50 feet with my galaxy s7 in any of my pockets. Looking on the internet I found hundreds or more similar complaints with google promising software updates to fix the problem but never following through as of Sept 2020. I think everything he says here about the product design is true, it's great. The functionality is great the sound quality i find great...but none of that matters if the Bluetooth looses connection sporadically to one or both buds if the phone is more than 24 inches away from your ear. Now I am well past the 30 day return policy of the retailer i purchased from and I have returned to my Wal-Mart 90 dollar buds that work flawlessly. DO NOT BUY THESE UNLESS YOU CAN FIND SATISFIED USERS WHOS CONNECTION PROBLEMS ARE RESOLVED AFTER NOVEMBER 2020. If you don't believe me, and don't, Google it.

    I got my Pixel Buds today and I'm a bit skeptical about this one. Everything is great so far except for the battery. I started with 100% on both sides and after exactly 1 hour of continuous music I see my left bud has 64% and my right bud has 56% left. Looks odd to me to be honest. And I heard this was supposed to last 5 hours on continuous music.
    Any Pixel Buds user can help me out here please?

    I'm a huge google person. I own the nest wifi, the home hub, the speakers, I have a pixel 5, I have owned countless products. I'm even typing this on my pixel book. But these headphones, these buds... they are not worth the money. They are trash. They are buggy, uncomfortable after long periods of time, and way to expensive for what you get. not to mention the bluetooth on these things is attrocious. I highly recommend you look elsewhere.

    Disappointing to hear some audio connection issues are still present in these $180 headphones. I purchased a pair over the summer but had to return them because I had terribly annoying audio issues that occurred every 1 minute and 50 seconds during playback. This issue is well documented and has been addressed by Google but with the other issues mentioned in this video, I won't be buying these again. I'm still using the original Pixel Buds from 2017.

    For those wanting slightly more reliable outgoing call quality (for the receiver) you may want to consider the Mpow MX1 or the iTeknic IK-BH006. In videos I've seen of these, I haven't heard any crackling/etc like I did in this video. Both have wireless charging too despite being rather cheap.

    And couldn't find a link to buy these earbud in description, so if you don't mind can you buy send me one while I while you the money?? If okay do reply me bro.. (Living in India, that's why couldn't buy still)

    i have purchased 2 pairs, and am working on returning the second now. Everytime I use them, the left earbud will disconnect, then both cut out, and reconnect and resume working. It happens a lot. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue persist, but I have had 2 pairs now that do it constantly. So disappointing given how good these buds sound.

  • @nyonsmith6621

    I've owned a pair of these for almost 6 months. He's right, the updates have definitely helped, but the random disconnects without an ability to reconnect unless you unpair and repair is extremely frustrating. Also, there are still random cut outs in certain environments, such as when you're lower to the ground, and when your outside for a walk or run.
    One other thing - I had an issue for MONTHS with the buds slipping out because I tried to stuff them inside my ear canal. The better method is to make sure the stabilizer rests in the upper portion of your ear. The fit in the ear canal doesn't matter as much.
    I love the sound quality, and overall, I'm glad I bought these over airpods.
