    My son is nearing 5, he has no cavities and excellent oral health. We have monitored any juice intake and diluted them with water. His main drink every day is water, he's learned from me and Dad to always have his water thermos with him in case he gets thirsty. Whole grains, he's not really interested in, the type of bread I buy is excellent but even then he just doesn't have a taste for it. He will have a flavored yogurt every once in awhile when on a field trip but I limit that. He is doing great, I've had judgement from friends and family over the nutrition choices we have set to teach him but he has benefited greatly! Out of all of my mom's grandchildren, he is the only one that hasn't had to have those silver crowns put on to try and save his teeth. All of the kids had dental work done before age 5, all with terrible diets and sugar up the wall. Thanks for sharing this great information to other parents or acting guardians 👍

    Glad I started watching these videos. I do Olympic style weightlifting, so my joints get decently fatigued after a workout. Ever since I started eating cod liver oil daily or another significant source of omega 3's (salmon for example), significantly lowering my carb/sugar intake, and changing up my cooking fats, as he recommends, my recovery between workouts has been a lot quicker, and I get much less inflammation in my joints. I also don't get stiff after a long day of work anymore. My body and gut in general feels like a well oiled machine. I've always considered myself to be healthier than average, so it's been a shock to realize how deprived I was of such an important nutrient with my regular diet, and how much discomfort, whether in my muscles, joints, or guts was actually a result of, or exacerbated by diet, and not just physical activity. It's funny seeing you mention orange juice, as I now treat it like a dessert treat, rather than an actual food

    Dr Berg, I have recently enjoyed watching lots of your videos and agree wholeheartedly with your approach to healthy eating and weight loss. I have started a keto diet for myself to lose and get healthy. However, my ten year old son has struggled his entire life with LOW weight, and by low I mean he has seen nutritionists and has been diagnosed with severe malnutrition and is currently about 15% points below 0 on the growth curve. His problems started around 12 months when starting solid foods. He has almost no appetite at all and when he does eat, it’s about 3-4 mouthfuls and he’s full. He’s also allergic to a large number of foods, including dairy, nuts, beef, potato, peanuts, peas and other legumes, but is fine with wheat and soy. His nutritionist has recommended a feeding tube, but has given us the option to try to get his weight up by diet. Your recommendations in this particular video are wonderful for the average or perhaps skinny child, but what opinion would you give for a child who has eating difficulties and who is in a constant calorie deficit? He is 60 inches tall and weighs 54 lbs.

I even packed him blackberries because they provide fruits at the school. They called me today telling me not to pack him lunch because they provide the food but they do grains and fruits that they consider healthy. They want a note from the doctor saying that he cant eat it but its not that he is sick and cant eat it but i decided to go low carb with my son because diabetes runs on my family and he loves sugar. What if the doctor doesnt give me a note for his school? He isn't overweight so they may not let me give him his own lunch. What should I do.?

I am wondering if I amp up her calories more with higher fat content, will it set her up for obesity? I also want her to have ample nutrition and thrive as well. Could you please advise?

You are doing amazing with breasfeeding, keep it up. Try to eat well your self too and just try to make walking/exercise part of your daily routine. Breasfed babies generally eat less, so don't stress too much, but just try different types of food. x

    Depends on the juice, right ? Cause my 2 yr old son just doesn't want to eat any fruit nor vegetable and in despair, I started to buy juice but I read the labels and I buy the ones who are organic and most natural. Believe me, I tried to make smoothies at home but he just won't touch it 😫

    Hey! I've just started following you. Do you have a cook book? We don't do any of these at my house. But in school they get all kinds of stuff. I'm looking for what SHOULD my kids eat? Especially my 11 year old who is only home for dinner at 3pm + He is active in MMA and is very strong but thin.

    This is good video. I like your open honesty so striat forward. Expect there is vitamine C in whole orange but thank you for those tips about avoiding juice, favoured yogurt, I agree them energy drinks such as ensure plus are pretty bad, I like Rice Krispies, with goats milk and honey and sprinkle chia seeds on top. Love all nuts.

    •  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Steve Phillips Your comment would be excellent if you wouldn't wrote "Expect there is vitamine C in whole orange" because he didn't say there isn't ;)

      +Ondřej G.Thank you! That is correct Dr Berg, only was talking about orange juice shop bought has no vitamine C, but for those that might think otherwise I thought to clarify there is vitamine C in whole orange.

    On the juice point. My neighbor has a son that is 5 months older than mine. He is 2 my son is almost 2. She has given her son so much juice he already has six teeth capped. I never give my son juice no capped teeth. Kids can drink water and eat fruit and they know none the wiser. Do not give your kids juice!

    How about freshly squeezed orange juice? Home-made?

    • @darkapothecary4116
      @darkapothecary4116 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      should be fine because the sugars will be natural. main thing is a lot of the things that are convenience made in stores are produced in such a manner that is far from healthy. check out how it's made orange juice and you will notice that most companies have it sitting for months before they even start on turning it into the juice. vitimans end up being added as well as coloring later on.

      Orange juice - of any kind - is absolutely full of vitamin C. Freshly squeezed is the best for this vitamin, though. Pasteurisation does leech some of it out, but it's a total fallacy to say there is "no" vit C in OJ.
