  • Explore the enchanting Isles of Scilly with me as I embark on a scenic walk around St. Mary's! In this adventure, I start my day by catching a boat from St. Agnes to the bustling Hugh Town, the largest settlement in the Isles.
Discover the rich history of Hugh Town, home to over 1000 people, and join me for a delightful cream tea, Cornish style! As we stroll through Church Street, I take you to the Old Town Church, built in the 12th century, with a fascinating history of restoration and tragic tales from shipwrecks.
Explore the solemn Old Town Church graveyard, a poignant reminder of the perilous seas surrounding the Isles. Learn about the SS Schiller tragedy and notable figures like Prime Minister Harold Wilson buried here.
Wander through the medieval Old Town and join me on a nature trail through the Higher Moors, a haven for birdwatching and rare plant species.
Get a glimpse of the scenic runway at Porth Minick, where the Isles of Scilly Skybus and helicopters connect St. Mary's to the mainland. Don't forget to hit like and subscribe for more captivating adventures!
Follow me to Giant's Castle, where the SS Brodfield met its fate in 1916. As we explore Porth Hellick and the Holy Vale Nature Trail, marvel at the diverse habitats and birdlife that make this area a Special Scientific Interest.
Immerse yourself in the vibrant colours of June on the Isles, known for wildflowers and a flourishing flower farming industry. Discover the tranquillity and unique charm that makes these islands truly special.
Indulge in a World Champion Pasty at The Store and enjoy the breath-taking view at Porthmellon Beach. Finally, join me on the journey back to St. Agnes, savouring a delicious Troy Town Farm ice cream.
Join me on this picturesque journey through St. Mary's and the Isles of Scilly - a perfect blend of history, nature, and culinary delights. #IslesOfScilly #TravelAdventure #explorewithme

Hi Rob thanks for uploading this. You’ve really captured the tranquility of St. Mary’s. It’s redolent of the mainland Cornwall I knew in the 1960s. We’re going to visit in early September, albeit only for a day via a cruise ship. In fact I think that was ‘our’ vessel The Ambition you can see at 8:18 out in the bay. Thanks for showing us Harold Wilson’s grave as I was hoping to visit it while on St Mary’s. Another Labour politician of that era, Ray Gunter, is also buried there. I love the simplicity of your videoing and editing.

Hi Mark, thank you for your kind words. You should have plenty of time to go to the Old Town Church and I highly recommend getting a pasty from The store on the way back to enjoy on Porthmellon beach! Depending on how much time you have you might be able to do this whole walk.

@@WalkingDevon we are taking walking gear because the ship is going to Orkney and Shetland earlier in the cruise, two places not known for hot, dry weather. So fingers crossed we will be able to get some walking done using your information. If you can find them on the internet I can recommend 3 books written by my late uncle detailing walks in Cornwall. They’ve been out of print for about 30 years but are well worth searching out. They’re entitled ‘Walking Cornwall - books One, Two and Three, by Donald Vage.

i hope you have a great time on your cruise, you're going to love the Islands. I just picked up the books on ebay, I have a long project for this year after these Isles of Scilly videos so maybe a project for the future, thank you!

Completely agree. But, in relative terms, when you go to St Mary's from St Agnes (as opposed to from the mainland) the feeling is like visiting the big metropolis, full of cars, shops and crowds. It's all wonderful though.

Hi Rob, we’ve just returned from our round the British Isles cruise but unfortunately we were unable to get ashore at St Mary’s owing to the sea being too choppy to allow the transfer of passengers ashore.

Great research of history of the area. Thanks for this. Subscribed as we loved our time there. Looking forward to returning by our yacht this summer after 11 years.
