I'm down with the brown. The other colors are cool too but really like the brown. Flex Seal should make a Tactical commercial starring you and your crew.
All in all you found a great way to revitalize the lids of the ALICE ruck, which still (in my opinion) has a place out there. I have a few I've scratched my head over wondering what to do about the undersides but thanks to this info problem solved. Great info, thanks man!
Yeah, brown is definitely the way to go the green is just too bright and the almond is too. Maybe you could like layer the almond with some brown and it wouldn't look so bad like with a camo pattern but that's too much work. Nice vid.
Here in BC, Canada right around this time the vegetation is so lush and green that I think it would work great. But it would definately only be perfect around 5 months of the year. Maybe some parts of the US where you get good amounts of rain and sunshine during spring and summer, regions you might label as temperate rainforest, it might work quite nicely.
Great video tutorial and looks like the colors add character to the kit by changing the color scheme. Glad they sent that out to you and support your channel as well as enjoy it.
Outstanding, best flex seal commercial I've seen! Can't believe it's been a year since the first video. This is what all us old jarheads need for our old packs! Keep up the great work, Brent! Are these available for us?
That was really nice of them. I drive trucks these days after leaving the Navy and flex seal is a friend out here. Best thing I did with it was coat the bottom of my big drink mug. It doesn’t skid around and it actually keeps my drinks from transferring heat from the floor board
Brent - Watching your video last year, I re-sealed the top of two of my ALICE rucks with black Flex Seal. Man, I really like that brown! I had no idea that was even an option. Plus, I hadn't thought about sealing the external pocket lids. Looks like I have another project. Fun stuff. Thanks.
I was only able to pick from black or grey locally that I could find, so I went with grey. It’s kinda light colored but it’s on the inside of my ALICE pack lid and the inside of my butt pack. So far I’m very pleased with the result. Thanks for sharing the idea!
I sprayed my pack cover with the black. The only other color locally available was white, the others would have to come Ebay or Amazon. Holding up great. Thanks for the videos.
We used a New Zealand DPM Camouflaged large ALICE one back in the early 90's. I used to carry The ANPRC77 too. They are the work horses of the battle field (until that rivet pops)slot of guys sewed more pockets on them above the threshold large ones already there.
That tan might work good for similar repairs on a pack which is in some desert tan colors or desert camo colors. The green is nice, but too bright. Maybe would be great if you wanna fix your favorite garden hose with it because you can't find a new one like it or the newer ones just suck. Maybe it might help if you have some sorta signal green colored piece of kit that has lost water repellency, like a goretex-like green police or mountain rescue jacket or smth similar... Wish I could find similar handy products like this on the other side of the planet... you can really find a good deal of use for these sprays.
Nice! Thanks for the update. Thanks to your review I ordered a can of the brown for my gnalier ALICE packs. I was also looking at their others colors and was thinking the yellow, red, or even terra cotta would be cool if you wanted a higher vis flap for whatever reason.
Watched both videos, great content. I ended up using clear flexible seal from Gorilla Glue and the pack lid looks brand new. There were a couple small holes that I used clear Gear-Aid tape over them before sealing the lid. While these colors are pretty awesome clear is perfect for keeping them looking old school.
Now you can go to the cloth store and have them cut you a piece of camo for a pack cover. Flex seal the non camo side. Add bungie cords or paracord around the perimeter. Waterproof pack cover. 🤔
Nice need to square away Some of my ALICE gear. I may try it on my buttpack. All my tac gear has been spray painted with rust oleum dark brown krypton tan and a semi gloss medium brown. Browns work all seasons here in the mountains of Virginia and gives me imho a non military look as a civilian now. Did my large ALICE pack in browns but the paint doesn’t stick as well. Lot of touch up. If I remember right you did the same before you deployed to Iraq and all the paint was gone at the end of your tour. I over lay the colors till it matches the leaf duff. Looks good contrasted with civy clothes. As you know surplus and new ALICE pouches do not have a consistent green color and MOLLE is desert colors shock is to bright. I run a condor tac belt with a mix of MOLLE pouches and ALICE pouches held by zip ties. I sewed up my own front chest rig/ dynema plate carrier. Luv your channel. I was a Sgt in the 1970s. Your cammo and other vids KA. Although my back has had surgery I keep my carrying weight low and distributed evenly. At 67 yo I ruck 30 lbs at 3 mph up and down two big hills over each mile. Trying to keep in the fight. I’ve been using a SOL double sized Mylar heat sheet that is bonded to plastic less noisy and have put clear packaging tape in critical attachment points when safety pinning it to a woobie. It pluses up the temp rating and improves it as a expedient shelter.
Great vid and a great way to extend the life of the pack. I almost mistook the ALICE pack for the Tropica Rucksack as the colours matches that very closely.
Painted some trouble spots on a boat bottom with black flex seal . It's not leaking any now . It has a sticky rubbery feel to it and paint will definitely not stick to it and neither will primer . Slides in and out of the truck with no problem , but wouldn't recommend coating the entire bottom . Just hit the necessary places . It's pretty tough too .
Yeah that flex seal is good I didn't know they came up with the other colors though that's nice and one day I'm going to get me an ALICE pack it's going to be a large one and that is what I was going to do with it I mean when I saw your video when you first did it and I was thinking I'll bet you two to one he's going to use flex seal and when you mentioned it I was right cuz that stuff does work you have a good day and take care later
I use the flex Seal in the paint can as I find I can get a more even layer. It's not like paint were if you make a mistake it will show or will also have brush marks. The only thing I can say is that with the rubber on things it will not allow sliding of things in and out of quite as easily. But, that's a very small price to pay for having a dry pair of socks or a ruck full of wet items adding weight. With the rubber seal grabbing on to things, I will give you a word of advice. Any bag that you apply the stuff to the outside of will not slide across any surface...like say the back of the truck. When you unload other bags you can grab ahold of them by a handle and pull them towards you and they slide across the surface and assist you gaining leverage to move the bag. With flex Seal you must lift the bag up to move it. Of course it would not work if that was the intended outcome. LOL
I just bought a surplus one that had mold growing in it and it stank like a mf. If you have this issue, soak it in a bucket with water and 2-3 cups of vinegar to kill the smell. (Let it sit in the mixture overnight).Afterwords, take it out and wash it in your washing machine with detergent. According to other people, do not use bleach. Doesn't mix with nylon. Don't throw it in the dryer afterwords, let it hang dry. Using the washing machine is great for dirt/grime or if you want to wash the vinegar smell out. Good luck.
I love the Flex Seal idea, I wanted to ask, did you go right over the old rubber on the lid? Did you remove any of the old before applying, If so, How did you do it other than letting it wear out naturally.. I have a waterproof bag and Alice I would like to do .
The green is a little bright but the brown and tan are cool. If I could find it I’d buy it ! Did they say these are special order or available soon everywhere ?
Bravo-Zulu! Thank you for the Heads up on the Flex Seal Devil Dog I have an Old Alice Pack that I have owned for over 25 years now and has gone with me everywhere it has lasted longer than the Pack that I was Issued by the Navy back in '05 and only lasted one deployment. I have been wondering what I could do to make the cover water repellent again that this looks GREAT will be going out to my local wallyworld tomorrow to get some FLex Seal.
Nice man cave very creative 👍.I just to tell you gunnery Sgt putt out really good vedio have using your video for training good content very perfusonly done Good job ya have a lot more content to gruel over me personally I use the L B E back in the day that's what I. Was trained with 80 / 84 U S Army who ya yes do own T A 50 an use it
About time flex seal came out with other colors just wish that they were tactical colors The brown is ok the green no a olive drab would be great . Flex seal is the best
Yes, I recommend not doing that though, you need your pack to drain water. Your gear should be kept in a WP bag which keeps things dry plus turns your pack into a flotation device for water crossings.
Outstanding... I thought the same thing about the brown. But the tan has its place too. Especially in Arizona. Now, where can I get these other colors?
It looks like something i want to do with my alicepack. Would it be an idea to do the entire inside of the pack too? Its probably a good idea, it wasnt done originally because its more expensive i suspect. Greetings, Jeff
Hey Devil Dog, Have you tried turning the Alice pack inside out and spraying the inside of the main compartment, if so, how did it work out for that? Or do you prefer to just use the willy peter bag to water proof your gear inside the pack. Great videos, great content. Semper fi brother

AWESOME I need a new red dot for a 11.5 inch M4a1 Heavy barrel pistol that I am working on.
Lol I was just considering using Flex Seal on my awning
We are impressed! Great video, Brent0331!
I became a Flex Seal body repair connoisseur with my old GMC pickup truck, so I knew Brent was on to something with the ruck repair - and so I did mine also. I think it was pretty cool that you slicked him up with some goodies. Good job Flex Seal!
I just ate some flex seal
@FlexSeal give us some matte colors military colors
Don’t even own a Alice pack but I love your content man, keep it coming!
I like that Apple green for the inside of the large pocket inside, iam sorta blind in one eye and that bright green should help me out...
british bergens are the way to go
I'm down with the brown. The other colors are cool too but really like the brown. Flex Seal should make a Tactical commercial starring you and your crew.
I like how Flex Products aren't just a meme, they're actually a great company that makes good products
That's awesome that flex seal sent those out and support you! Maybe I'll have to go buy some of the brown! (The green and tan were too bright)
Sure is! Thanks for watching.
All in all you found a great way to revitalize the lids of the ALICE ruck, which still (in my opinion) has a place out there. I have a few I've scratched my head over wondering what to do about the undersides but thanks to this info problem solved. Great info, thanks man!
Thanks brother, I actually got this idea from one of my viewers!
Great. Now you've got me wanting to break out my old ALICE and give it a refurb.... Wonder what all else I could use this on (ponders in grunt).....
Ha
im really glad there was a follow up video im going to use that brown one too for many many many pockets on my alice packs
Yeah, brown is definitely the way to go the green is just too bright and the almond is too. Maybe you could like layer the almond with some brown and it wouldn't look so bad like with a camo pattern but that's too much work. Nice vid.

Maybe some parts of the US where you get good amounts of rain and sunshine during spring and summer, regions you might label as temperate rainforest, it might work quite nicely.

Works great. I also applied scotch guard to the exterior for extra water protection
Great video tutorial and looks like the colors add character to the kit by changing the color scheme. Glad they sent that out to you and support your channel as well as enjoy it.
Thanks brother
That's a Brilliant job Mate, and a great solution to the lid problem...
Bloody well done
Im binge watching all your videos!
Outstanding, best flex seal commercial I've seen! Can't believe it's been a year since the first video. This is what all us old jarheads need for our old packs! Keep up the great work, Brent! Are these available for us?
Thanks brother, I know right, time is flying by.
That was really nice of them. I drive trucks these days after leaving the Navy and flex seal is a friend out here. Best thing I did with it was coat the bottom of my big drink mug. It doesn’t skid around and it actually keeps my drinks from transferring heat from the floor board
Nice! 101 uses, I used it for odd ball jobs around the house.
Thanks so much for these videos. Have a number of lc1 and 2 packs that need this treatment.
That Flex Seal is some amazing stuff. Thanks " Semper Fi!"
Nice video. Love ALICE. With gear in plastic bags.......good to go!
Very cool! I like the new colors. Thanks Mr. Brent!!
Thanks for watching
Brent - Watching your video last year, I re-sealed the top of two of my ALICE rucks with black Flex Seal. Man, I really like that brown! I had no idea that was even an option. Plus, I hadn't thought about sealing the external pocket lids. Looks like I have another project. Fun stuff. Thanks.
No problem Chris, the brown is legit, I really like it. Reminds me of the brown colored webbing seen on a lot of Nam era gear.
Worked for me also. Thanks for the update. I had actually been curious how yours had held up.
Awesome
Great idea. Can't wait to try it
That's pretty cool Brent. Thanks for the great information.
Thanks for watching!
Impressive, excellent video, congratulations. Happy New Year.
Good info. Thank you for taking the time with the colored flexseal. I am ordering the brown right now.
Awesome brother, you'll like it.
Will do this to my alice and the main compartment. Its going to be awsome.
Outstanding idea!! My lids were trashed.
I was only able to pick from black or grey locally that I could find, so I went with grey. It’s kinda light colored but it’s on the inside of my ALICE pack lid and the inside of my butt pack. So far I’m very pleased with the result. Thanks for sharing the idea!
Thanks for watching brother. Yeah they only offer the other colors on their website.
I sprayed my pack cover with the black. The only other color locally available was white, the others would have to come Ebay or Amazon. Holding up great. Thanks for the videos.
Awesome man, thanks for sharing.
Very nice never thought of using this product but it makes sense. Thanks for the info love the videos
Agree with the brown nice job 👍🤝🏴
Thanks brother.
Excellent update Brent, keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
Awesome stuff!!!🤜🤛🇺🇸🇺🇸
Good stuff. The clear works well too.
Yeah man, what a cheap and easy fix for this old problem.
❤️ my Alice packs.
I used flex seal on GI issue water proof bags that are used in the 3 exterior pouches on a large Alice ruck.
This is awesome..
Thank you for doing this video..
And thank you for sharing...
Now I can repair my old backpack...
Glad it was helpful!
Still looks good after a year. Thanks for doing a one year review. I have done the same to mine.
Thanks for commenting.
God tier pack.
Thanks for this, I got to repair mine soon, now that I know how to do it.
Awesome

Agreed!

Awesome man, glad to hear.
Nice. I'm wondering if you could turn the pockets inside out and get some inside them too
Ha! I've been thinking about this for ages, but my large alice has a good lid still.
Just ordered a new medium alice, so may need to try this out.
Great idea. If you turned the pocket liners inside out, and sprayed them, would it remove/cover up the stink? Thanks
Never would have thought of that. Thanks for the idea brother! That’s about to happen to my pack now.
Awesome, a viewer actually originally brought this to my attention.
We were issued the Large Alice, its in storage, very cool. Btw I am circa 1980
Thank you!
Same here 83 to 89
Now you can go to the cloth store and have them cut you a piece of camo for a pack cover.
Great stuff!
Great video.
This is a great idea , I might try to paint the seams on my TCOP tent to keep them from leaking.
Nice
This is awesome! I need to do this to my pack!
Do it!
Nice
You make the best videos
Thanks man.
Great vid and a great way to extend the life of the pack. I almost mistook the ALICE pack for the Tropica Rucksack as the colours matches that very closely.
Ha, yeah don't make that mistake, HUGE price difference there between those two.
Cool vid Brent. Thanks for the update. Sure would be great if you could get Flex Seal to make a matte O.D. green. I'd buy a case of that stuff!!
I agree, hopefully one day.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Great idea. I will try it on some of my gear that is showing age. But I love that old gear so don't want to replace it.
Go for it man, its quick and easy.
WEAPON COVER ...great it did hold up outstanding . Great stuff would work on web gear ?
Good stuff, thanks for sharing👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
In this day of $700+ packs, it's nice to see someone still out there running ALICE packs.
Hell yeah brother, I love it.
$700 ?...and then some !
LOL
Right, I did the same thing to my M-1945 sleeping bag case, and some of my canvas tarps.
Yeah... it adds weight, but increases the durability by far.
Nice
11/10!!!!
l like the brown. I'm going to do it to all my packs.
Awesome man, you'll like it.
thank you so much
I just flex sealed my 2 Alice packs 👍👍👍
Awesome
Enjoyed this tip! Any recommendation on cleaning an old Alice?
I just bought a surplus one that had mold growing in it and it stank like a mf. If you have this issue, soak it in a bucket with water and 2-3 cups of vinegar to kill the smell. (Let it sit in the mixture overnight).Afterwords, take it out and wash it in your washing machine with detergent. According to other people, do not use bleach. Doesn't mix with nylon. Don't throw it in the dryer afterwords, let it hang dry. Using the washing machine is great for dirt/grime or if you want to wash the vinegar smell out. Good luck.
A new market for their product. get the colors closer to traditional camouflage and you got a winner
Yeah hopefully they come out with a line of product specifically for tactical purposes.
pretty cool how to!!
Those other flex seal colors could work well to texturize old USGI mags.
They might!
I wonder if you could turn the pack inside out and spray it to make it water proof. I mean, I have dry bags but it might be worth it.
Could you do this to the entire pack on the inside but leave some space at the bottom for drainage have you ever done that?
Just wondering if the dried Flexseal is rubbery or a plastic texture. Wonder if things would drag on it.
I love the Flex Seal idea, I wanted to ask, did you go right over the old rubber on the lid? Did you remove any of the old before applying, If so, How did you do it other than letting it wear out naturally.. I have a waterproof bag and Alice I would like to do .
You can run it through the wash to get some off
Been waiting for so effing long for the deets on this kid repair. Damn
Awesome thank you
You bet!
Hey cool video thank you for the info..
Harmony Church B-8-2 1984 good work 👍
Thanks
I bet that if you combine the colors into a camo pattern (on another project) it would look awesome!
Maybe, if you try it let me know how it turns out.
Awesome brother!
Nylon tent water proofing. Does in come in navy blue? Flexseal take note camo colors a big plus. I do have an Alice and frame.
Check out their website in the link I have in the information box, they have different colors that aren't available in stores.
Hey, so this just will work fine to repair a us army poncho. Right?
I got one that has no water repellency so i only use it as a sun shade.

Thanks for watching and commenting brother.
Can you do a video where you repair pierced tank hull with flex seal ?
I wish I had a tank hull to do that!
About time flex seal came out with other colors just wish that they were tactical colors
The brown is ok the green no a olive drab would be great .
Flex seal is the best
Thanks bro.
Thanks for watching.
That Brown is sweet
I'm gonna do the whole inside of My ALICE packs.Pockets n all
Let me know how it turns out.
Have You Thought About Turning The Alice Pack Inside Out And Apply Flex Seal To Make It A More Water Repellant Pack
Flex Seal website, I don't think they offer them in the retail stores.
@@Brent0331 Got it
It looks like something i want to do with my alicepack. Would it be an idea to do the entire inside of the pack too? Its probably a good idea, it wasnt done originally because its more expensive i suspect.
Greetings,
Jeff
Hey Devil Dog,
Have you tried turning the Alice pack inside out and spraying the inside of the main compartment, if so, how did it work out for that? Or do you prefer to just use the willy peter bag to water proof your gear inside the pack.
Great videos, great content.
Semper fi brother
