Troubleshoot and Fix an Ice Maker Stuck on Crushed Ice

- My ice maker is going through a rebellious phase. First it went on strike and wouldn't make ice, and now it only gives me crushed ice. Here are a couple of troubleshooting tips to get it going again.

I had the opposite problem, no crushed ice - only cubes. I decided to try this anyway and it worked! Now I have both cubes and crushed ice. Thanks!!
Yep...there was ice stuck behind the part of the chute that needs to open so that the ice passes over the crushing mechanism...I took all of the ice out and washed and dried the tub...nothing stuck in there now and my full ice cubes have returned....thanks so much, this was all I needed....

The hot water worked! I noticed a cube was stock in the front mechanism. I think it was preventing it from switching back to cubed.

Thank you! Did not look at the lever. Ice maker was solid ice, which jammed the mechanism. Moved that lever (in small square box) down and ICE CUBES RETURNED !!

it actually worked i tpok all my ice out ran hot water over it and booom it got cubed ice aging 😅 ty so much
Curses! I was so hopeful it would work, but it didn't. Ah well. Back to the drawing board. Thank you for the video anyway! Gave me hope for a few minutes. =D
Make sure the back spiral cavity is hooked into the motorized prongs on the back to attach to the motor

Doing the happy dance!!! Our brand new bosch was only giving us cubed ice and we love our crushed ice. I pulled it out and saved the ice inspected the mech and bam, a small ice buildup. I removed the buildup and like magic we have cubed AND crushed at the push of a button!

I changed out my delta cartridge for a dripping faucet a few weeks ago. It’s worked for a few weeks but Today i noticed the faucet dripping again. Had to open the faucet and had s really strong release of water suggesting a lot of pressure built up. I closed faucet again and dripping stopped. However I also noticed water was also coming under the kitchen sink via hole kitchen faucet was installed. I opened faucet up and tightened bonnet ring around catridge a quarter to half turn or so. Is it possible the bonnet wasn’t tight enough snd water was flowing back under the sink and causing the dripping?

Or the solenoid is bad (or jammed up or frozen up) at the back of the ice maker that trips the lever that actually opens that little bypass door up at the front.
Same here. You can hold the switch on the door to trick it in to door closed mode and see that thing thats is supposed to lift that rod isn't moving. In my case, it will, intermittently after a second or so of pushing the switch, but when I put the bin back in it still does nothing.

There is no ice in there at all. Still crushing ice!!!! No reason????
As for the no ice, give it some time. Try unplugging it and plugging back in, then wait. A few days ago, my inexplicably stopped making ice, then suddenly started making it about a day and a half later.

My refrigerator stopped dispensing water. After several days on TH-cam University, I realized the following: My freezer was still making ice. I changed my water filter to a new filter and purged out any air in the line. My refrigerator side crisper area water reservoir tank was not frozen. I changed my water inlet valve to a new water inlet valve and verified both for continuity prior to installation. Both the old and the new showed nearly identical continuity confirming a working water inlet valve. And still, no water. Unless both the old water inlet valve and the new water inlet valve both have defective mechanical issues. What are the odds? I am suspicious to that being the issue. I removed the main water line and checked water flow. Very solid and good pressure. I then connected the main water line to the new water inlet valve and turned on the water supply. The water ran through the water inlet valve up into the water filter and back down the return line. That is where the water flow ends for dispensing water to drink, but not to the freezer to make ice cubes. So, something is not "turning on" or allowing the water to be dispensed at the push pad. Yet, water is going up to the freezer to make ice. Crushed gives cubed. Cubed gives cubed. Water gives actuation noise. I am baffled.
Tried both, and not working 😭

@@ChickFixUSA I think I figured it out after I posted this comment :) Where the metal thing sticks out at the back of the ice bin holder, it slides into this white plastic piece at the back of the freezer and that plastic piece was pushed "up" and I pushed it down and put the ice bin back in. I believe it's working now. I haven't tried this morning yet because it was making an awful sound last night. So I wanted to give it some rest. Thank you for this video though because it helped me go more into depth to figure it out.
