Ingredients:
Mackerels / Bangdas - 3 pieces / Around 450 gms ( before cleaning )
Salt - ½ tsp
Tamarind - 1 inch ball
Warm Water - ½ cup / 125 ml
Freshly grated Coconut - 1 cup
Kashmiri Red Chillies - 6
Bedgi Red Chillies ( medium spicy ) - 2
Turmeric / Haldi powder - ½ tsp
Cumin / Jeera seeds - ½ tsp
Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
Onion - 1 medium size
Garlic - 6 cloves medium size
Ginger - ½ inch piece
Kokum / Garcinia Indica - Around 4 to 6
Tefla / Teppal - Around 5 to 6 ( optional )
Ginger - ½ inch piece
Green Chillies - 2
Salt - 1 tsp
Water - 3 cups / 750 ml

Louise, Don't really know what Mackerel is called in Sri Lanka but you can make this same curry with Sardines. Will taste the same. Delicious as always!🙂

Kisan, we don't have Chicken Curry with Mustard seeds in Goan Cuisine
We get them from Goa
..easily avble in the Margao Mapuca bazar ..sold by local women
Only comment..i don't use ginger in authentic Goan fish curry
Rosy, Yes we get fresh Bagdas everywhere in Goa. Do try adding Ginger in the curry. It does make the curry taste better. 🙂
What should we substitute for Tamarind.
Shad, You can add kokum instead of Tamarind or you can use dry raw mango pieces.
