MrMobile please review the Vivo Nex. The English version is available in India if you'd like to get one. I believe the hardware is waaaay more durable than the Find X and the software (although an iPhone clone) has significant advantages than pure vanilla Android. Case in point: the bottom-swiping notification bar/control-center - the only Android phone I know to have it like the iPhone. In my opinion it is superior as it allows quick one-handed usage. Please DO IT!

They use to before Apple sued Samsung for over $500 million. When I bought the Galaxy s3 when it was released, it had the slide to unlock. After the first update, it was gone.

Partially agreed, but the design of vivo pop up camera is not on my taste, For durability, i seldom put my phone in my pants , i prefer to put my phone in my jacket pocket so bend issues is not a big deal for me, because if we want to be real, there's tons other wat that can possibly destroy your phone , for water resistant I'm type that always put my phone in safe spot whenever i eat or do jobs that makes me dirty, and i also not that addicted to phone to the point i will take it with me to bath or in the middle if heavy rain The only disappointment from find x for me from what i know is the lack of jack port, because it's quite a hurdle in my hometown to bring adaptor whenever i go because sometimes i sleep over at my friend's place

Same here! Google Play store install went fine (thanks David Imel!) but even after switching to English so many notifications still landing in Chinese.
yep, and as you said needing to click them to dismiss is annoying! I thought there was something wrong the first few days since I couldn't swipe to dismiss. hopefully the western version fixes this stuff
This is one phone that _needs_ to be saved by a Custom ROM, but obviously that's a deal killer for non-tinker-techies. UI design is just something that Chinese/Japanese/etc companies seem to struggle with for some reason, not sure why. Korean companies seem to be getting much better though.
Chinese rom like Miui has 2 variant of rom 1.for chinese rom for chinese market no google apps with more chinese apps 2.global rom with playstore less bloatware probaly google apps has more apps than the bloatware. that's what happend when buying chinese phone but the phone is not ready yet for your country.

I prefer reliability. Waterproofing and getting a case is more important than having a sliding mechanism in the phone. Even right now, the S9-series has the most display-to-bezel ratio of any phone except for the Chinese. I like to have front-firing speakers, I like to have reliability and love a nice display
Hardly call it innovating. While it does bring something new to the table there's a lot of draw backs. You'd expect your 1000 dollar phone to stand the test of time. Unfortunately no waterproofing, fingerprint scanner, wireless charging, shitty software, top piece wiggles, and can't have any case attached. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. I wouldn't know any counter argument besides someone bumbling out to say "it's pretty". It is but the note 9 on the other hand proves you can have every feature including a huge display for the same price. Sorry not sorry

The Apple issue is more regarding stuff like that you can't even print directly from an iPhone without downloading some printing apps and setting it up whereas with a Galaxy-phone stuff like that is native and fully automatic. No apps required, no set-up required.

When I was in college, learning how to fix cameras, video cameras and cell phones. It not the sand that you can see that really destroys them, it's the sand that you don't see that really gets inside and you don't even know that it is there until you send it or bring it in to get fixed. The extra warranty that you have been paying for to fix or replace it, at best, it will be a used same model replacement device and the original, will be tagged then put in the garbage. I got a question, can you disable all of the features that utilize the camera to the point that the camera module only opens for the camera app? I'm good to just enter a pin number or draw a pattern to unlock a phone. I do not use cameras. It's refreshing to see a phone with no notch or chin and minimal bezel design.
if they made the find x in a boxier design like a sony without a curved screen or curved corners with the same mechanism i would be sold, also there is no need to have the selfie part be mechanical why not just pull it out with a finger maybe that would get around the waterproofing problem.
I totally agree with you PocketNow man. I constantly worry about my camera getting scratched as well. The mechanics of this phone should easily last two years without fault. Let's be honest, if you're buying a Find X, it will probably only last for six months to a year before you move on. It's a really good buy if you're throwing down for a new phone every year or less.

For reference it's quite possible to install a custom launcher. Just install the desired replacement, then use ADB to manually remove the default Oppo UI. Presto. I'm using Nova atm for reference.
Prompts to give permission to an app to use cellular data is a really good feature for me. Many apps work offline but have ads when connected to the internet, so I disallow them to use cellular data. I'm sure there's a "don't ask me again" option. Source: currently using Oppo phone.

Not just "to save room on the interface". It's to protect the lens! The main point of it is to keep the lens from getting damaged. all my cell phones have gotten scratched lenses.
So it's like a Samsung, great hardware but dodgy software? I'm actually typing this from an S9 as someone convinced me that Touchwiz wasn't that bad nowadays.. still 30× dodgier than ANY HTC I've ever used (had to reboot my phone twice yesterday to get my mobile data working after work).

Having owned a some Samsung phones, some HTCs and others, the software experience (in my opinion) has been much better on the HTCs. Yes Samsung has been getting better, but I still find it lacking compared to lighter Android skins.
I so want to love the design of this thing, but the bottom bezel is slightly larger than the top. Bothers me so much. Hopefully they can figure out the "folding it under" OLED technique

That's why I prefer Vivo Nex S. More powerful pop-up camera motor with the pop-up camera being small and simple equals more durable and more dust resistant. It uses some fancy magnetic call speaker thingy hidden underneath the screen instead of the traditional one and the fingerprint scanner also hidden under the screen... And it survived the BEND TEST...

Yes! I had a W580i, a close cousin of your C510. It's still one of the few phones that truly stole my heart. The Oppo is definitely reminiscent.

I am in Australia and i would assume that the oppo software would be optimised for the australian market, because the phone sells in australia and not in the us.

The main point of it is to keep the lens from getting damaged.

So it's like a Samsung, great hardware but dodgy software? I'm actually typing this from an S9 as someone convinced me that Touchwiz wasn't that bad nowadays.. still 30× dodgier than ANY HTC I've ever used (had to reboot my phone twice yesterday to get my mobile data working after work).

kristi leka Heya, there is a difference between lying & having a different opinion. Having owned a some Samsung phones, some HTCs and others, the software experience (in my opinion) has been much better on the HTCs. Yes Samsung has been getting better, but I still find it lacking compared to lighter Android skins.

I so want to love the design of this thing, but the bottom bezel is slightly larger than the top. Bothers me so much. Hopefully they can figure out the "folding it under" OLED technique

That's why I prefer Vivo Nex S. More powerful pop-up camera motor with the pop-up camera being small and simple equals more durable and more dust resistant. It uses some fancy magnetic call speaker thingy hidden underneath the screen instead of the traditional one and the fingerprint scanner also hidden under the screen... And it survived the BEND TEST...
