By now, you probably already know what the Rabbit R1 is - and you probably also know that you shouldn’t buy it.
I was at the launch party at the TWA Hotel on April 23rd; I bought the R1 like everyone else there; and like almost every other reviewer, I too spent the next couple weeks in a cloud of frustration and confusion. How could a company ship something so obviously unfinished - especially just weeks after a very similar product was very publicly roasted, in part, for making the same mistake?
In lieu of simply repeating what everyone else has already said about why the R1 is destined to become the next dust bunny in our gadget hidey holes … I thought it might be worth taking a look at the reasons why so many of us are so un-hoppy about it.

As an owner of a diabetic cat that I have to administrate insulin each day twice a day I send you all the power to you and your kitty to get over this ❤
yep same here, 3 cats 1 diabetic. on the plus side, the insulin can restart the pancreas in a cat and the cat can become un-diabetic. its already happened to mine once. but he went diabetic again a year later. hopefully other people have more luck.

This is probably my favorite mrmobile video this year for how incredibly raw, honest, and vulnerable it felt. No, i don’t blame you for wanting something different. I’m sure a lot of us are just as bored of the current complacency in tech
It was a refreshing take that helps Mr. Mobile stand out from the pack. We all knew by now that the Rabbit didn't live up to the hype, but this showed why it mattered.

Only in this channel the video is not a review of a product. It is a story that happens to include the product
Both these products were rushed to market so that they can still actually sell - thats before consumers finally realize LLMs don't magically mean that computers have become sentient.
The number of people hoovered up by the "AI" marketing talk is depressing. An uncle of mine who worked in software development told me about the distinction when I talked to him about the military's efforts to make self-driving viable for self-driving combat vehicles... he wanted me to understand the difference between a fancy algorithm and something self-aware, and the vast gulf between pretend and the real mccoy has never been clearer with recent large-language models. They don't "understand" anything whatsoever.
@@IrenMasot the thing that really gets me is, "fuzzy logic" was marketed as AI in the 90s... then it became bog standard "computer automation" in the 00s and 10s and I used to bring it up as the perfect example of the treadmill of "AI" always being new and in the future. Yet, there's new fuzzy-logic cooking and laundry gear being marketed with "AI" in 2024, just because that's the hot new buzzword... even though it's the same algorithms they've used for decades.
I feel like every reviewer has talked about how aggressively orange the R1 is and how difficult it is to capture. Your video is the only one I've seen where the color really pops the way it sounds like it does in real life.
truly! even mkbhd's vid wasn't that vibrant tbh, the orange in Mr Mobile's vid is like an HDR orange on a normal video, kudos to Mr Mobile
I always found your storytelling and videos very engaging and compelling (even if sometimes I didn't agree with your views). Really appreciate the opinion-driven reviews that you give, apart from just mentioning the specs. Beyond that, I really hope the kitties are fine. I had a sweet lovely kitty who was diagnosed with several ailing conditions and I also had to learn how to become a vet tech in my spare time, so I hear ya and my heart goes out to you and your sweet girl. The fact that you love her enough to do all of these things speaks volumes to the type of person you are and I have absolutely no problem with a slow-down in content while you attend to those duties.

Thanks for adopting! We adopted 2, and 8 dogs (lost one to a snake and the other to a horse - heartbreaking), and we foster as well.
The first 2 fosters were meant to be cat friendly - not! My cats retreated to the roof and it was 2 months before the big cat cornered each one seperately and beat them up.
The third foster doggy has just come in, and he's scared if the cats look at hum but will chase them if they run. Luckily they have sanctuaries all over rhe garden and house that dogs can't get to.
Congrats for learning to give injections! Especially to a cat! We have to wrap our 2 in towels just to administer their spot on tick and flea medication. Hope he recovers fully🙏🙏

Glad to hear your kittys are getting better. About 2 months ago I adopted a pair of tuxedo kittens from a NYC rescue foster agency. As luck would have it. within a week. Both came down with Calisivirus. One requiring emergency hospitalization. They're both better now. But I totally know what you're dealing with. It can be tough and very costly. They're lucky to have you. There are too many heartless people out there.

Cute kitty hope she recovers from whatever is ailing her. I have had to do eye drops, ear drops but never injections; I'd be really worried about doing something like that. Good job pushing through to help your steampot become well again.

I really feel the same way you feel about phones. They are not fun anymore. I recently went from an iPhone to a pixel 7. I believe now that phones are missing something but I am not sure what it is. I miss small devices but those are hard with my eyes. Not sure what is next. I thought it was the flipping idea of the old phones or the ability of living your life with less screen time. Something is off and missing.
As a conclusion we lost our connection with ourselves and we connected with things that we can't control. It totally sucks.

The LAM concept is cool, but it's only cool (even if it worked) in the current state of API integrations. If they are just going to interact with commonly used services like Uber and Spotify using LAM, that LAM is just going to be outshined once the companies develop API more tailored to how we use Siri or Bard (or whatever Google will call their "AI"). LAM is really only useful for very niche things, which would be next to impossible to train.

Glad your kitty will be okay. I have a small Tuxedo cat and she had health problems 2 years ago where we thought we'd lose her. She's all better now and happy. Also rescued a dog in 2020. Both are thriving. Pet adoption is important and needed. Thanks for loving on these fur-friends! Oh, and I bought an R1 and I'm selling it. LOL.

Love your videos. Even videos about tech I don't need, nor I am interested in. The way you tell the story, highlight the pros and cons and the overall video production is above and beyond, Just couldn't find the will power to watch this. The Rabbit R1 has been run into the ground by everybody. There's no saving this before the company goes bankrupt. We've seen these type of startups before through the decades.

I have wondered occasionally why I haven’t seen a vid posted by you, but I chalked it up to a busy schedule for yourself, and always move along anticipating your next screed on tech. Hearing about Schteampot made me very sad, but knowing he’s getting better, I’m much happier for you and hope the little charmer will be just fine rather soon. Dude. One of my cats developed FIP as well, and we almost euthanized him because the first vet immediately ruled it as cancer without sending out his pleural fluid for biopsy and having an IDEXX RealPCR done on it. We will never be going back to that doctor ever again. That place was a mess in general. We also had Lap of Love scheduled three times within the same week for at-home euthanasia. I'm so glad that I kept looking at the medical notes over and over again, as well as having extra diagnostics done.
We're on day 11 of the injections, and he's doing well so far. It's crazy how close we were to losing him. He had just turned 5 as well.
It's awful that there isn't any official means of treating FIP man. I'm hoping that the GS anti-virial gets licensed someday. I hear that there's going to be an "official" pill form coming to the US in June. It's also fucked that many vets don't or aren't allowed prescribe Remdesivir for FIP when the GS anti-virial is the metabolized version of Remdesivir.
I'm so lucky that I've been able to afford all of these diagnostics tests for my little guy and the medicine. The FIP treatment is VERY expensive.
I hope Steampot does well during and after treatment Michael.

The rabbit can go die in a hole but I'm still very interested in getting a Clicks case! Unfortunately I've only got an iphone 13 pro here and don't plan on upgrading anytime soon. I guess I also have a base 14 for work but its just the business line and I couldn't justify a $150 case atm..

Michael's storytelling and his voice over are excellent, I'd say the best in tech reviewers. His style of testing it on the road, living his daily life, gives a practicle perspective unmatched by others. His criticisms and praises are relevant for general users as well as technical. His videos arrive later than others but I think that works perfectly, because you learn theory from other reviews and practicle from Michael's. Cherry on top, you get to see a travel video whike you're watching a tech review!!
