7 Years after the events, (and 4 years after his Twitch Ban) DrDisrespect is back in the news over his conduct in 2017... leading to one of the fastest collapses of gaming stardom ive ever seen.
From humble beginnings, to internet super-status... DrDisrespect is an example of how the court of public opinion can make or break someone in the blink of an eye. What he actually did, and the extent his conduct may always be somewhat of a mystery, but today we discuss the rise (and rapid fall) of DrDisrespect.

is there any actual evidence he knew about her age and that he actually said anything illegal because otherwise this video is just slander, you really are falling off
im not on doc Ds side or agaisnt doc D what i find is that everyone has an opion, specualtions hearsay etc and the court of public opion is the worst and needs destroying , a few tweets or messages that can easly be modified in this day and age all i say is if there is evidence then let it be for the poilice and the REAL court system and everyone else should shut up plain and simple it has nothing to do with us, as for his midnight sociity company they also shouldnt take the word of anyone untill the court or police issue a statment and shouldnt have let him go from his own company
Did you really just say that the internet is a proper court, and the people in it are a jury? surely you are not that dumb.
This person went to a real court and "no wrongdoing" was established. But you didnt seem to mention that at all. How could someone who took twitch to court come out with a verdict like that? Well using some basic logic there are 3(at least) plausible scenarios.
1. The age of the user was never established in the conversations(most likely was the case)
2. The messages by the defendant (Guy) were benign in nature. As in the messages sent by them are non sexual or neutral.
3. not enough evidence to substantiate the claims of criminal activity or wrongdoing had occurred.
The reason twitch could still ban him is that the messages could still break their TOS regardless of wrong doing or intent.
But of course mentioning any of this ^ wouldnt be sensational enough for the likes and subscribes to keep this channel afloat, right?
Lets also point out a few other facts, this cody guy also was promoting information about this in order to get people to show up at his live event. So he was dangling this information for self promotion. Definitely something a credible person would do right? source: reddit . com/r/Asmongold/comments/1dmqcmm/cody_conners_who_leaked_docs_ban_reason_is/
Another interesting bit is you showed some messages with a content creator(a s*x worker) leena love. you can find her youtube handle at the end of the clip you shared. This person is not claiming THEY were a minor. No what they are claiming is that he was dangling a promotional deal for sexual content. But in the messages she shared there is no such "deal" being proposed. But it doesnt seem like you did any kind of research around this or maybe you omitted on purpose for those likes I mentioned above...
I think you could've done ground . com proud by making the video neutral instead of sensationalizing the content. but that doesn't get people viewing the video does it?
It still sucks that Twitch still didn't do anything despite all this. Texting a minors had always been common ever since they allow Bathtub streams. Even if they DIDN'T let it happen in their Whisper? They can still do in third-party platform.

The Whisper product was supposed to be 18+. So Twitch has some legal issues as well according to some lawyers, especially if a crime was committed.
As I recall, it required the user to accept those terms. Lying about your age voids it.
@@TheSpicyLeg terms are a contract, it's up to the company to make it valid in the first place for the service to be rendered, if a minor is agreeing to contracts then you will find that they are still legally liable.
@@HappyfoxBiz Not at all. Lying about a term on a contract voids the contract. If the contract is implicit that by agreeing to the terms, the user is 18 or older, then agreeing when the user is not 18 voids the legal responsibility of the service provider. The larger statement also lacks important context. Such as; Did he know it was a minor? Did he have reason to believe the person was over 18?
'There were no real intentions behind it' is utterly immaterial - whether or not he 'would have followed through' on his flirting isn't the issue, and only serves to inflame things.
If the larger statement said; 'In 2017 I had discussions with a person using twitch 'whispers.' These were casual, but could be construed as inappropriate at times, and when I later on found out that this person was a minor, I (cut contact//or whatever else he did as a response)' I think he'd be in a much better spot.

I wouldn't even be surprised if he thought it was somebody trying to pull a fast one on him by pretending to be a menor, and so he tried to just ride the conversation and goad the other person just so he can toy with them as they make a fool out of themselves. Seems like Doc ended his own career. Maybe don't be a 35 year old man that sends inappropriate texts to a minor, it's not rocket science. But yeah, it's always someone else's fault.
I wonder why twitch would sign him to an exclusive contract in 2020 if they knew he was talking to a minor in his private messages. Seems off. The whole thing seems weird.
I'm not sure of the timelines but I'm pretty sure the only reason they HAD to sign him was because they were under the threat of mixer. Once mixer was no longer a threat and they had something in their back pocket to use against doc, they pulled it. Obviously it became a game of chicken(you don't want your audience to find out, no, you don't want YOUR audience to find out), I think doc called the bluff, knowing what he'd done was wrong but not grounds to terminate the contract.
I'm honestly not a fan of doc but I was back when PUBG was relevant. I think he still feels a lot of guilt for that 2017 era and he didn't want to deflect blame, but at the same time he doesn't feel that he should be crucified for this so his "apology" came off as very standoffish.
It's an interesting dilemma if we assume all the worst, what is an appropriate response here? I don't think any sacrifices have to be made. As long as he does his mea culpas and clears up the ambiguity, I'd rather not see him be deplatformed.

While I was ready to disagree with you and explain why both Twitch and the Doc were at same levels at fault it came to me that if Twitch had enforced its age verification properly, the Doc would never be able to message a minor, let alone have inappropriate conversations with them, none of this would ever have happened.
Twitch then proceeded to not admitting any blame and trying to amicably end the situation by paying the guy in full instead of sticking to any kind of principle, that's strike number two. I've never been a fan of the Doc and I'm biased towards believing he did something, otherwise his language would be far different from what it is (lawyers speaking through him so that he doesn't publicize false information which would screw him in court), but I also believe he's been wronged and the source of this particular problem (with the minor) is rooted at twitch and their absolute lack of morals.
Just sharing my thoughts, writing it helped me see the line of thought, thanks for the space.
@@RareJay how can you put this on twitch when any normal human being just wouldn't do that even if the platform allows for it, for twitch it is bad because they knew and didn't do anything, but the root of the problem is that person who did it

@@RareJay Doc probably assumed Twitch did its job and the person he was whispering was 18+ too. It aligned with his aggressive pursuit of the lawsuit. Twitch told him nothing after the ban. The revelation that the individual he was whispering was a minor probably came during discovery and even then, Twitch couldn't hold it over his head to get out of paying the contract. We have to keep in mind that Twitch is the party paying the hush money. The content of the messages were that damaging... for Twitch.

Thank you for your amazing investigative reporting. UTube needs more channels like yours. Thank you for your great work.
Yeah agreed. Fellow upper echelon fan here
There's a message reply on Twitter that explains in further detail what happened as seen directly by his lawyer. So I'm not trying to defend Doc, because it is weird, BUT he changed it to "individual" because the girl was 17 about to be 18 at the time, which is very legal in most states, and majority of the world.. and the "inappropriate" nature he referred too is she would commit if he had a big Johnson because he's tall.
On the reply, his lawyer specifically outlines WHY they begin talking to begin with. Doc offered a coaching thing on the low, and she had heard about it and wanted more information AT THE TIME of her initially messaging Doc he had no idea of her age. After Doc found out she was 17 he didn't reply anymore and someone whom helped with the coaching took over with the conversations.
The guy who leaked this is known to hate Doc for a number of reasons most notably and recently because Doc supported Nickmercs. The same guy went on Twitter bashing Doc. Also the people who looked at the Whispers were fired and sued because that's illegal. This is according to his lawyer. Twitch employees hated Doc for his right wing stances. Of course Twitch couldn't cut their biggest creator so they waited for ANYTHING to happen and once this happened they immediately jumped.
Again I'm not defending Doc, but once the truth is out there, people are still gonna hate Doc. Regardless of if he's innocent or not. This is all in a reply from someone on his Twitter post idk the name, but he said "hmm interesting" with a picture and it's a letter from his lawyer if anyone is interested in looking at that.
Not sure if that's a reliable source.
But people would only interpret this coaching as a ruse to violate people (even though it's pretty hard to molest people at public events) instead of a completely honest interaction. It can only be one or the other extreme.
@arklaw8306 yeah definitely take it with a grain of salt. Hell for all we know it could not even be his lawyer and just some thing bis fanbase made up to help cover him. Idk. I just thought that was interesting
The truth doesn’t matter because those who pushed the .PDF narrative WILL NOT come out and correct themselves, so any defenses will get brushed under the rug. Same with news corrections.
The damage is done and his reputation is most likely trashed.
Source?
So he was grooming a minor because she was about to be 18?
People who want to believe the worst will think he's a .PDF who was trying to get it with a 13yr old.
People who want to believe him will think he was just using language that'd be considered too naughty for the puritan social media, to a kid that was probably 17.
There's a gap most people couldn't jump with their car between those two perspectives.
Considering the level of ambiguity brought on from Twitch settling, grifters, Doc's own wording in his posts, and simple lack of any real data.. we won't be able to form properly informed opinions on this.
Regardless, companies are going to drop him like the plague for bad press regardless of "how bad it was". That just makes sense at this point.
It's not even wanting to believe him, it's going from this track record of Americans pearl clutching over adults messaging each other. Most of the time the girls end up being 17, which is an adult who can make her own decisions, and Twitter trying to ruin the guys life by accusing him of PDFilia. In no world is that fair or just.
If there is evidence of him committing a crime go to the authorities, otherwise nothing of note has happened.
At this point it's just sadism from one side and reluctant silence from the other. A target for people to mention like a burning strawman during protests and mock to join the celebrating bandwagon. A complete equal to Epstein in deeds and morales as you can see from some comments. Nothing remotely close to justice or resolution is achieved.
I doubt his career will survive this and even his marriage might be over at this point aswell because its one thing to have something like this happen and being kept quiet and something entierly different when everyone knows.

Why don't you have a seat. Take a seat. Sit.
1 - If he had these inappropriate conversations with a minor, and I don't think it's fake, he's wrong. I don't know if I agree that his career should be over as a result, but the risk and consequences lie with him as a grown-a$$ adult.
2 - The bigger root cause here is minor vs. adults on the internet. If we're so concerned over this, these platforms need to do a better job of age verification and segregating their population of users. I'm not condoning what he did, but how old was this person? 12? 17? I think that absolutely makes a difference, especially if the conversation was mutual and not just some old pervert harassing teenagers.
3 - Where are the parents? Are they properly monitoring their kids' use of social media and the internet? If they don't care or are simply uninvolved, shame on them. They allowed their children to be exposed to a global internet with no safeguards.
4 - Minors are being exposed to sexually explicit materials all the time under the guise of LBGT inclusivity. How many town halls do we need to see where a concerned parent is reading hard-core pornography and asking why it's in an elementary school library, never mind a middle or high school one? This material doesn't belong in schools period, yet it's almost impossible to get it out. However, kids have access to the most heinous and vulgar material ever conceived on the internet and people are like "meh." It's hypocritical to ruin this man's career for talking dirty when that same child can easily go look at beheadings or child pron somewhere on the net.
5 - Lastly, the idea of the internet being some sort of public court is ridiculous. The things most platforms ignore (I'm thinking of something Paymoneywubby brought to light concerning the "no pants dance") are far worse than sexting. Just like that content needs to be age-restricted, so do accusations of wrongdoing. Any predation by an adult to a child needs to be investigated and properly handled by the courts instead of on the internet. Nobody should be allowed to lob accusations like this and ruin a person's life without it first being addressed by authorities. For the protection of both accused and victim.
I'm a free speech purist, but that doesn't mean I think everyone, regardless of age (one caveat), should have access to material they're not ready for. The internet and these platforms need to segregate and police that so these things don't happen. Simply burning DrDisrespect in effigy is not addressing the problem.
Exactly, kids hit “yes I’m over 18” on pornography sites all day every single day. No one ever talks about it.
Adults of all ages watch “barely legal” pornography all day everyday, 17 is absolutely much different from 13/14/15, the reason why it’s inappropriate is because their brains haven’t fully matured at 17-20, which is why as a 33 year old I just won’t interact with anyone under 21, what are we going to talk about? Their calculus final? No thanks.
But these people acting like they can visually tell the difference between a 17 year old and a 20 year old are being totally disingenuous.
Took the words out of my mouth. This was a settled and done case, opening an old wound like this is without a doubt done to strip him of everything.
I don't understand why more people aren't questioning why twitch sat on something this bad for 3 years BEFORE banning him, then remaining quiet until an ex-employee tweeted to promote his band pretty much.
We are and I suspect from what the one former twitch employee said about seeing this every single day is because 80% of big streamers were doing this and if that got out the company would be gone. I’m sure doc knows he wasn’t the only one, and where are the journalists digging into this?
Just trust them bro. 🙄
@@wuldntuliktonoptb6861 Here's to hoping that fallout hits Twitch soon.
Not sure on twitchs end, but as for any journalist that MIGHT have known, it's almost a guarantee that anonymous sources would be involved. In that case, there's a rule ( it has a name, I'm drawing a blank) where if the sources are anonymous, there must be at least two. They must not know each other, know the same knowledge pertaining to the topic being investigated, and both come forward willingly.
I saw a wild theory.. that it could have been a twitch employee or some dude with a grudge against doc that said they were a minor and Doc took the bait. And that’s what explains the no harm done both sides agree stance .. conspiracy!!
Such vague language like "inappropriate" at a time where you can get a 30 day ban for using a word regardless of intent means It has zero credibility to me. For example he could have used the word sex in the context of determining if a dog was make or female and because the conversation was with a minor its instantly flagged as inappropriate...Whats inappropriate is there are no details.
Pretty much, and yet people jump to conclusions. The accusers are being just as vague as Dr.Disrespect, even though some of them doesn't even need to be.
I mean if that were the case, just publish the chat logs and wash your name clean. I'm usually always hesitant when it comes to allegations, and frankly, I don't even know the guy, never watched a single video, but the way he's handling it, being vague as fuck, certainly doesn't do him any favors. If someone accuses me of doing something and I'm not countering that accusation, then everyone else will obviously have to believe the accusation is true.
I appreciate it every time when you choose to express an opinion that you’re usually pretty clear and if you’re ignorant of something you say it and it sounds like an actual adult opinion. Now I wonder if I just like this channel because of that. But no, it is interesting topics too and presented well. And you’re professional about things.

That's a much more complicated matter than most people would like to consider or admit. On the one hand, Twitch requires your date of birth. Some people will argue that it's not enough because you can just lie, but I bet the same people would not like their privacy being impacted, which would be mandatory in order to satisfy what they ask for. I believe more robust age verification was mandated in certain states in the US and maybe some countries, and it got loads of flak for being a breach of privacy. In this scenario, it all really comes down to one simple fact: did Doctor Disrespect know or had a reason to suspect that the other party was a minor prior to any of the infringing messages. If no, then he should be entirely off the hook and Twitch is to blame. If yes, then the fallout, while extreme, is not unwarranted.
But dr disrespect did verify her age and knew she was a minor, stop trying to pass the blame
Crazy take dude. He chose to send inappropriate messages to someone he knew was a minor. Pretty weird to say the messaging service is just as liable as him for doing that….
@@nomanejane5766 How did he? He never met her.
@nomanejane5766 where did he say that? He only admitted that he text to someone that was a minor. Not that we knowly did so
This is why you always treat women like a gentleman and never talk to a minor in a private space.
lol what an absolute joke you are
That's why men are genuinely afraid of women. Not an incel take btw, just a fact. Western culture is fucked up beyond repair.
I think a bigger question that needs to be addressed is how did doc get in contact with the minor to begin with and what was the context behind the inappropriate messages. Assuming doc knew the age beforehand the only way he could have known was if he contacted another streamer using twitch whispers. Twitch profiles are essentially anonymous and anyone can claim anything. A minor can claim he/she is in their 20s or vice versa because twitch profiles can be faceless. Another way is he combed through an endless amount of profiles and picked out a minor. How contact was established to begin has to be addressed and it will provide a lot of context that is still missing from this whole thing.
Even though he admitted to texting a minor and occasionally being inappropriate, I still find it really weird that twitch didn't get the police involved. It feels about as legitimate of a callout as Chris Henson. Sure, someone was being gross, but both were simply using those gross actions as clout rather than being genuinely helpful.
because twitch knowingly hired him despite them uncovering this before that. twitch likely told him to knock it off and not to direct message people he didn't know IRL and that for sure was their handle.
Another issue is if he all he did was flirt with the minor in a way like "hey, I think you look cute in a skirt" Etc, well....yeah that is creepy. But technically, not against the law. I assume that is why doc was so adamant on saying no pics or videos were asked to be taken, as well as no physical contact happened.
So unless the messages were him manipulating her to be very sexual towards him, then technically, the cops can't do anything. He needs to cross certain lines for legal action to occur, and even though he likely is a sleeze ball, the law is the law. It's like if an older guy says a little girl is cute with a creepy face. OK, gigantic red flag, stay away from him, but cops can't arrest him for that either. Sucks, but it is what it is. Just my suspicion.
Their brand would have taken a hit for them to admit one of the biggest stars is a creep. They had every incentive to help him cover it up.
@@sultanofswing7198 i doubt its that simple. they got a lot of heat for not giving an answer at all, and they have no issues letting offensive creators go (ice poseidon, destiny, etc). if anything, telling the public hes a predator so they cut him loose wouldve benefit there brand

The fact that we are just judging on allegations is ridiculous

@@toomanyaccountsWe need to see the messages. All we know is "inappropriate talk". Because it was investigated and found to be noncriminal...it was likely inappropriate jokes. Was twitch doing something illegal by reading user whispers and that's the reason they didn't want to disclose information about the docs ban Also discontinuing the twitch whispers feature?
Edit: was the settlement hush money?
If the situation turns up in a court room there will be heads rolling.
Unlikely to ever happen, large corporate interests that prey on minors usually support and cover for each other, look at the Drake Bell case against the Nickelodeon executive. The man confessed to sexual assault, yet only served 16 months and the majority of people associated with the ordeal showed up in support of him, even knowing he ADMITTED to sexually assaulting a minor.
Didn't he already sue Twitch over this very thing and get a settlement out of it?

Social media, tearing down society one user at a time.
I think a lot of context is missing. The way people are acting is as if he was sexting a 13 year old. Which is illegal. And considering he was absolved of any legal wrongdoing, it probably wasn't as bad as people are making him sound. Maybe she was a 17 year old e girl trying to seduce him, and he was stupid enough to play along. Maybe the texts were so mild that they could be taken sexually or non sexually. Everyone has painted this picture in their mind of him being a predator, sending explicit texts to an innocent child. Any attractive man, celebrity, wealthy etc can attest to how some of those egirls can be. Doc still should of had the strength and common sense to resist it though. He definitely fucked up. But I really disagree with the predatory picture that is being painted.
Twitch needs to stop fucking around and release the messages already. Guy B. should be demanding it so that it's all laid out for everyone to see instead of just playing this he said, she said bullshit game.
People hear a label and immediately set it as fact. That being said, it's definitely not a good position to be in, and there are 2 reasons what he was doing was wrong. I'm not saying illegal.
@@timrainwater481 He may not what that out there making it way worse. He needs to weight what is best.
WE do not KNOW the truth. There are many answers left unkown.
The best case scenario CAN STILL BE "A 17 yr old initiated the conversation, and began flirting. I initially reciprocated the mild flirtation and immediately cut it off once I found out."
That IS a possible situation. "But why not SAY that is how it happened?"
WE can do nothing but speculate. Do we KNOW there isn't a legal team telling him to withhold more for a future case? Do we KNOW he wrote his last post in a 100 percent clear mind?
An article isn't evidence. Ex-Employees with vendettas making more claims is NOT evidence. Something MISSING is not EVIDENCE for the worst case scenario.
Additionally, him cheating is old news. Cheating is a personal matter between him, his wife, and women that may or may not have initiated the conversations. There isn't evidence that he has cheated since nor is there evidence to warrant labeling him a "pedo, groomer, predator" which all imply he has a recurring habit of doing what he did 7 years ago.
If this is a ONE OFF incident that hasn't recurred, does his family deserve to be going through this? Does lying once mean you deserve to be socially labeled a liar? Does hurting someone once make you an abuser? His daughter was born right after the incident. You don't think that can change a man for the better?
Do cringe, flirty messages being sent to someone that isn't telling him off make him a "creep"?
Where is the hope that a man can improve? Where is the hope for a better future?
In a time where it's so easy to spread hate and want to ruin a man for something wrong, can we also entertain the possibility that a man that has changed and DIDN'T commit a crime might deserve to make a living to keep on providing for his family?
Is it wrong to hope? Is it wrong to wish him the best of luck in aspiring to be a better man than he was 7 years ago and to continue seeking to be better?
Yes because we would do the same to anyone else. Just is what it is

Firstly if twitch actually has an issue with this, they'd take action against porn streams. You know damn well half of amouranths viewers are under 18. It's wrong to chat a 17 year old? Yeah probably, but is it any worse than literally showing your breasts, ass, tight gripping toe to teens who literally cannot go on adult sites legally, as you stream for them every other day?
Nah. Both are bad, but two consenting people having a conversation seems better than public porn.
I've said it before and Ill say it again, where's the proof? He said he chatted with a minor, agreed - but how long did he know? Was it a slip that they were chatting and then he found the age and bounces but the damage was done? Or did she introduce herself as a 4 year old and he still continued? Was it actually nsfw or was it fan related?
All I can keep shouting is show is proof of allegations. The person who brought it up said they went to the cops. Cops don't just shrug at Pdfa. They went to court. Courts don't settle crimes. You can't rob a bank and settle, you can't steal a car and settle. Crime is crime.
The evidence I see is that the police and the court system determined nothing illegal to have happened.
At this point were basically in a mirror universe amber heard Johnny depp trial where the courts said Johnny was fine and the internet was still defending amber heard.
imagine being a doc defender lmaooo. "He said he chatted with a minor, agreed" (you forgot to say the conversations steered sexual). But keep defending this groomer. Hope someone checks your hard drive.
Man , u fans will defend anything. Gross
Been saying the same thing but its a lost cause at this point. People arent going to be objective when it concerns a minor and we dont actully even know the age of this person yet.
Couple this current situation with his previous missteps and it dosent really paint a great picture he seems to have a real problem restraining himself around pretty women so even if it comes out that he thought she was over 18 hes still going to be seen as a creep that tried to get with a girl half his age despite having a pretty wife and children.
I honestly think hes done for this time and whenever he comes back from his vacation he will likely announce his retirment. Heck with all thats happened i wouldnt doubt his wife divorces him aswell at this point.
Imagine having all that success as a streamer a beautiful wife, children and multiple sponsorships just to piss it all away because he cant keep his dick in his pants. Fucking tragic
Yeah, all I and many others want want is definitive proof but people just shout cope at us for nothing. Like it's weird that some people want to see definitive proof before we start shouting someone is a p3do. The only thing that is confirmed so far is that Doc in 2017 was texting an individual who turned out to be a minor and that the conversation went slightly towards inappropriate, but him and a leaked E-mail even confirms that there was no s3xting and that the conversation was largely normal. The question: Did Doc knew the individual was a minor? And if he did, did he end the conversation when he found out or kept on texting? If the answer to both of these is a yes than he gets everything that he deserves, even in not legally, morally he would be a p3do.
Still no confirmations on the three sources that say it was a girl and that they were "sexting" and that they talked about Twitchcon.
But there's so little context and people only interpret things in the worst possible way anyway. The simple phrase "talked with a minor" can only be imagined as a traumatic and manipulative experience. Even though people talk with kids on many topics (even inappropriate ones) daily, even on Twitter. Not saying it's a good thing. I'm saying it's exagerrated beyond any logic.
At this point even if the conversation was public and turned out to be completely tame it would change nothing about his new status as a "pedophile groomer".
And even if peopel's worst accusations turned out to be true he still did nothing illegal in actuality so what punishment does he deserve for crying out loud? With this reputation he's already under more punishment than actual pederasts in some ways: won't find jobs or new contracts, constant death threats to him and his family, money can't solve everything...
Nonsense.
Really good coverage of all this drama...not easy...subbed
I'm always interested in the aftermath of cases like this. So often you hear the phrase "his life is over", as if he's a character in a play who's supposed to just go offstage and not exit anymore. But obviously he's going to continue living and provide for himself and his family (if they'll still have him).
How would he do that? How does someone so famous/infamous integrate back into society? Assuming he's genuine in wanting to put it behind him and do things right, who would employ him? Maybe the fact that he's an e-celeb that wears a kind of costume helps, but in general, what path do people like that have to any kind of redemption? And if there is none, he'd have to work and network with the sort of antisocial people for whom such a background isn't an obstacle, or maybe even a boon.
Doc: Admits to crime.
Fans: But this could all be fake, there's no proof.
Normal people: uhhhhhhh????
He admitted to chatting inappropriately to a minor, that's what we know so far.
What we still don't know is if he actually knew that she was a minor at the time and what exactly was being said, since the severity of the charge depends on these details.

Twitch deserves to be sued into ashes for slander/libel. No. Actually, twitch should be sued for SO MUCH that they are forced to transfer ownership of the company to Doc so that he can release all the DMs and other disgusting shit that everyone on that platform does.
Twitch deserves to be sued for having non existent age confirmation and allowing sudo OF content. Slander and libel against Dr doesn't sound like one of their many offenses.
This is the part people aren't considering.
Twitch swept under the rug the fact that someone who was under TOS age was on their app, and then paid hush money to doc with a legal gag order to prevent it being talked about.
Another often forgotten part of this is how Doctor Disrespect pursued a lawsuit against twitch, which resulted in the settlement. That means that he had something on Twitch to begin with. At no point did he state he was aware that this individual was a minor while he was texting them on an app for adults. It's possible he discovered it after the fact. It's the classic case of hitting on a minor who snuck into the bar with a fake id and being labeled the bad guy. Did he know? If he knew when the inappropriate messages occurred, that means he willfully and intentionally did the wrong thing. If it was discovered between the lawsuit and the settlement in discovery, then it's a bad look on everyone, but he at least has benefit of the doubt.
The reality is that we still don't have sufficient evidence to come to a final conclusion, but that's irrelevant in the court of public opinion - where cases and livelihoods are based on opinions, not a legal process.
Twitch hasn't said anything you dufus, so they can't be sued for slander/libel. It was a former employee that made the first statement and considering DD's company dropped him, it seems there is indeed something there. If you want the DM's released, ask DD to release them, he has all of them and from his own admission shouldn't be bound by the agreement. DD doesn't need to sue twitch to get the DM's, they were part of this original dispute so he has everything...
There are plenty of reasons for twitch to not want this to get out, most of it for realistic business reasons but doesn't need to be nefarious including:
1) The fact that twitch can read people's whispers anytime which they may believe are private
2) At the time this was going down was the whole COPA business, and handling minor's communication would have been a big issue legally with a lot of uncertainty
3) The fact that not only this was a major streamer they had a contract with was sending innapropriate messages to a minor, but organizing a face to face meeting of all places at freaking twitchcon.
4) Twitch is trying to promote itself to be friendly to all ages, instead its a clear indication that predators are on their platform, including people with influence. Not the best message to get out.
5) By stopping DD from meeting this person, they actually helped DD avoid legal issues but in turn made Twitch's case harder as DD switched his stance to "I never meant it, was never going to really meet this person". For the most part, talking to an underage person is not illegal, its when you take the further actions that would have exposed him. (btw if DD thought she was an adult, he could have claimed already that but he hasn't which leads me to believe that he knew she was a minor during at least some part of his conversation).
Those are easy to figure out, and I am sure they have many more reasons why it was better to keep this quiet. I think Twitch was wrong to keep this hidden, but there are plenty of reasons why its a bad business decision to reveal this that don't involve some nefarious intent.
I dont like Doc. I hate his persona. I don't even like Streamers...but this is getting overblown. We need to see the Messages. Twitch signed him to a Contract they regretted once Mixer was no longer a competitor. They then went looking for a reason to get out of the contract. Thats when they found the messages. Nothing in them was illegal, but the "inappropriate jokes" could definitely harm the image and they seized on that to get out of the contract.
He wasn't "sexting", no pictures were exchanged and explicit chats that could be sexting would have gotten criminal charges, but it didn't...so it tells me this is being overblown.
And I flat out hate this guy'a character that he portraits. Never watched his streams but every appearance I have seen from him is so cringe and offputting that I legitimately hate him.
For hating him he lives rent free in you head apparently
Sasuke influence possibly
Who says it was inappropriate jokes? You just make that up?
It could be sexting and twitch wanted to avoid a scandal so didn’t report it. It would hurt twitch too if that came out.
Doc could have said it was inappropriate jokes. He did not. He said no pictures were exchanged. He was probably sexting.
Why would anyone mention intent about jokes? Your theory makes no sense
Twitch banned him instead of reporting a FELONY. Chris Hansen would not be pleased.
This is just all too weird for me. Never seen anything play out like it before. Adds a lot of suspicion to the situation. If it was truly as bad as they say there’s no way it wouldn’t have gone legal, moreover twitch was ordered to pay out his whole contract. On the flip side doc isn’t saying anything to help/cover his ass. I’m so confused all around idk what to think
Who would have thought someone who cheats on their wife would be like this!?
"You Either Die a Hero or Live Long Enough to See Yourself Become the Villain"
"You have done that yourself"
Man every big content creator having a field day with this 🤣. And they all say by the weekend everything will be brought to light. I can’t wait 😜
Damn, a lot of guys really like kids. I dont understand it, if you're that rich, you seriously have a good shot just dm'ing models even if they don't know who you are. A lot of attractive women act like children anyway, not sure why you would want an even younger one
