I think the most important of all is EATING TOGETHER! They love watching and following what we do and I find that my 16 month old is more eager to eat and try something when I actually take a bite first. When we enjoy our food, they learn to enjoy theirs too 😊

Patience and perseverance really shine through this video!
I’m not a mom yet, but I enjoy this kind of content from you so much!
We’ll never know all of what’s “behind the scene”, but the result you share with us is amazing, cause your baby is simply wonderful and a great eater!

Great that you mentioned just doing your own thing, even if it's just a hybrid of different ways of feeding. I know a lot of moms getting super overwhelmed choosing between baby led weaning and spoon feeding and the reality is you can do a bit of both and as you do a hybrid of both, you slowly get to see what baby can and cannot tolerate, and it slowly builds your own confidence in allowing them to explore more. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. That is probably the biggest piece of advice I would give a new mom starting solids.

I agree with you 100%! I get certain kids have special needs, texture issues, xyz. However, most kids learn to eat what is offered. Also making nutrition really simple, basic, and important right from the start will really build that foundation. I’ve learned this with all of my children. My youngest has been raised on whole real foods, much like Sage. Outside of food allergies (no banana or avocado), he eats great! He loves sauerkraut, fruits, veggies, clean meats, raw dairy, and wild fish.

I am so glad I followed you since the beginning. My babies transition to solids was smooth as I started with purees after seeing your video when my bubba was around six months. Now he is eight months and He self feeds purees himself in preloaded spoons and tastes finger foods and bite size foods. He watches sage eating and he loves her so much😘. He actually mimics her while eating. Thank you for all the great suggestions. 😍

Your videos are so natural, without any silver coating. My baby is 11 months and he only eats with cocomelon playing in tv😟 he protests if i turn it off and refuses food.

My baby is 4 months old and started showing interest in food, so I gave him some pureed broccoli and he went CRAZY for it, so I'm excited to start giving him more kinds of food. This video is very helpful.

Sage is a cutie as always 🤍
    - My biggest issue with BLW is the inevitable food waste.
I was fed purees when I was a baby and I learnt to eat properly and I did not end up to be a picky eater.
    - I feel like there is not enough science behind the BLW to prove that it is better than feeding age appropriate purees.
I have a friend whose baby is also 11 month old as mine. Her baby was in the hospital because of baby lead weaning (this very well can be her fault regarding the variety of foods she offers the baby) she had iron deficiency and issues with her red blood cells totally based on her diet.
I tell her all the time about you so I hope finally she will watch your videos to get some inspiration BLW wise as she is obsessed with this way of feeding.
I also like that you do a bit of a mixed feeding, I see you feeding her and also see you letting her do it which is great.
My friend is literally handing a drumstick to her little one and does not interfere as she expects the baby to know what to do.
Perhaps she is the reason BLW is on my nerves lol

    • @dawnforlife
      @dawnforlife 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I do mostly BLW but I am also still fully breastfeeding and I eat up the "food waste" 😂 Now at 16 months, there are less waste. I agree with you about following BLW fully, especially with young babies and when no longer breastfeeding.

My 6 month old loves food but still does quite have the hang of picking up the smaller foods and putting them in her mouth. And she loves throwing her utensils on the floor. And we have been working on sign language but definitely just feeling ignored. My family struggles hard with BLW thinking she’s gonna choke. But it’s been a work in progress and you have been such an inspiration. Sagey is so cute.

Love you girl actually when we are young our mom's are used to give food with full concentration and attention and effort ... sometimes they showed us a bird in the garden if we don'tlike the food ... brains having memory of it still...... in this modern age world people are changing ... I embrace kind of people who cooked home made foods and the effort to teach them to eat on their own hands... it's actually making something to work their brains connection with hands and food ... cheer yu up...

Very good video! Thank you. Also, couldn't agree more on eating without tv or ipad's, because babies and children then associate eating with watching tv or ipad, and when they go to kindergarten or are in a different environment, where there is no tv, they don't eat. Comes from kindergarten teacher with experience :)

When she (my 16 month old) over does it, I'll say gently "Looks like you are done eating." and take away her plate. With 8 months you can give your little one meats, chicken etc. You begin with fruits and vegetables when your baby is ready. My baby was ready at 5 months. She stared at our food while we ate. I first introduced vegetables and everything separately so she gets to know the taste. Then I started with fruit in the morning (breakfast) and vegetables (dinner) in the evening. at 8 months I gave her also lunch think About bread, toast, protein like eggs, meat, pasta, rice, banana and oats pancakes etc

Love watching your cooking baby videos and I’m glad this method of feeding works nicely for you but I don’t believe that purées are doing a disservice to any baby. It’s actually the most common sense way to feed a baby and how people have fed babies for centuries. I personally don’t believe a baby making a mess with their food teaches them much. Okay so they made a mess. Yay now time time to clean 90% of the stuff they dumped on the floor. Seems like a silly trend/fad to me personally. My son eats in different ways, it’s not always the same each time… a combo like mentioned in the video but I’m not gonna sit here and let them wreck the whole house with food for no reason lol… especially when it’s a smaller baby, they are learning to swallow and be introduced to new flavors and foods in general when they’ve only known milk for so long…. Adding the stress of them trying to touch and splash their food just doesn’t seem necessary or effective in the early stages in my opinion
