    *100% best **Generater.Systems** I have used. A test for hurricane prep here in Louisiana: three AC units, 5000, 5000 & 8000, 3 fridges, 2 device power setups, 4 flat screens....AND I had 40% of the power meter to spare.*

    Sitting on the floor of my shop with 2 shot ryobi 3800s on either side of me. I admit to getting as far as pulling the flywheel to see if there was another screw from the front of the case before i found your video. Thanks man.

    Awesome work, James. Thanks for the tip. Working on a Generac 16kw with the exact same issue; your technique has saved it from a premature death-by-sledge-hammer. ;-p

    We have used the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

    I used a 27/64” drill, m14x1.5 tap, m14 bolt, 5/16” all thread that I ground all the threads off of the firs 1”. I cut the all thread short enough I could thread about half the bolt in the armature.
    It worked out really easily. I put all this apparatus in my box as a set if I ever need to do this again I will have everything I need. If everyone would keep it universal anyone watching this video will know exactly what to do. Drill,tap, bolt cost me $17.

      Honestly all technicians should standardize and use only this method. Sure would make it easy on the next guy.

    Awesome. Very helpful. I have this lined up for tomorrow to swap two rotor/stators. I have one donor generator so I get to do this twice.
    Question; This problem with my bad one is that one of the rings has intermittent connection to the field coil. I can measure resistance between the rings and push on one of the wires and the connection makes and breaks. I don't see anyway to fix the connection at the ring. Have you every repaired one?
    Thanks for your videos. I have worked on many types of equipment but am new to generators. Your videos really helped me gain some understanding of how they work and how to troubleshoot.

    I like the water trick best
    Just drain oil and set it up
    No mess to clean up later

    • @jcondon1

    Do you have a video to remove the other parts which are already removed , the cover on bearing of rotor and other motor part on top of motor

  • @duke1467
    @duke1467 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is a safer way to do this. I wrote a service update for emglo generators back in the day. The best way to remove the armature is to point the threaded end of the armature straight up the fill with oil leaving 1/8 inch of the threads uncovered by the oil.Take the bolt like you used and put teflon tape on it. Screw it in just as you did. oil is not compressible and the hydraulic pressure will pop it off the motor with no possibility of hurting the motor shaft.

    Good lord.. things get that wedged in there? Jeez. I gotta take one off because the fan on the other side exploded and neex to put another on it..

    The previous comment is how we did it because ours didn't have threads at the end. We could not find a video for without threads.

    • @jcondon1
      @jcondon1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wesley Weisel I have tried unsuccessfully the hammer method. I have one now without threads I need to remove. Usually I tap threads, but that is risky since the tap can break. Also saw that someone put a rod down the rotor shaft and was able to use an air hammer on the rod to break it loose.

    • @wesleyweisel134
      @wesleyweisel134 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jcondon1 I realize the comment before isn't what I did. We had a rod in the center, like the video, only it is longer. Have someone place a flat pry bar pushing the armature away from the motor. While pressure is on that, hammer in the rod.

    • @jcondon1
      @jcondon1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wesley Weisel that should work. I tried the same thing with an air hammer once. For me it did not work, but I will try it again.

    Hello, I'm very curious. Does that rotor have a permanent magnet. If there is no magnet, where is DC current given to the rings on the rotor. Greetings. I am from Turkey. Do you know Turkey.

    • @dr.pickle5842
      @dr.pickle5842 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah right. A slide hammer doesn't develop nearly the strength & pulling power as what he is doing.

    Can we move the dynamo of generator by motor?

    • @jcondon1
      @jcondon1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can, but the rotor required the tapered shaft and the engine to center it properly.

    Hi James. Thanks for making the videos!! I've found them very useful, informative, and strangely relaxing to watch. Your tutelage has me expanding my small engine "find 'em, fix 'em, sell 'em" hobby to include generators. I have stumbled on another method for removing armatures. I've tried it myself and it works great with no tapping of threads or water. You've probably seen this already but I thought I'd pass it on. Thanks, Dave th-cam.com/video/JOVPIS5a9is/w-d-xo.html

      Maaf saya hanya tahu bahasa Inggris. TH-cam secara otomatis menambahkan teks bahasa Inggris. Saya pikir ada cara Anda dapat mengaturnya untuk menerjemahkan teks bahasa Inggris ke bahasa apa pun. Saya menonton beberapa saluran menggunakan fitur itu.
