Might be interesting when you are done exposing the nails to take each nail and wipe it down with its original oil to attempt rust or surface rust removal and compare the nails after that.
I've been using Royal Purple motor earl on my guns for a while now and it works great. What happens in an engine and a gun are the exact same thing. An explosion happens and creates very high temperature and pressure which push a piston with great force and speed. In a 4 cylinder, 4 cycle engine idling at 600 rpm that happens 300 times a minute per piston. I get 10k miles and millions of revolutions out of it and buy it for about $8 a quart. If motor earl can withstand that in a car and prevent rust and cavitation from the coolant, its is good enough for my guns.
@Dragon Of Dojima Yes, it does. Some are better than others but, all motor earls must have that property or engines would become rust buckets just from condensation. I would not use supertech from walmart or any other store brand or cheap earls. Synthetic from a reputable brand is good.
Those nails are call scaffold nails here in pa. We use on scaffolds when you done you pull them out real easy that way they are called that you do not see them to offend anymore

USED MOTOR OIL HAS HIGHER % OF BENZENE so use New. Benzene is a colorless, flammable liquid with a sweet odor. It evaporates quickly when exposed to air. Benzene is formed from natural processes, such as volcanoes and forest fires, but most exposure to benzene results from human activities. Benzene is among the 20 most widely used chemicals in the United States. it depends, lots of good rust removers, but if pitting and severe metal degrade, then the operation of gun may be compromised, bring to local gun smith and have them look, they won't charge to look and see what they say... if they say no good and can't fix and then want to buy gun, I would be suspect..

Eliminates the marketing wank or sponsored product bit that corrupts TH-cam/internet tests. I like that you’re using a variety of products and not just limiting the test to ‘gun’ products as they tend to be more expensive and not necessarily ‘better’. I use a lot of different products as a hobby gunsmith when it comes to cleaning, lubing and protecting firearms depending on what I’m using them for as I don’t believe any one product is the cats ass for everything. There’s a TH-cam channel called project farm that tests a lot of different stuff and he seems to be pretty objective and thorough in his process. I'd make you my servant and you can be my fanboy .... now hurry up I'm about to start sweating here so get to work fanboy hahahaha
Im sticking with grizzly CLP. I really dont like useing possible toxic products on my guns. Maybe ill try 3 in 1.
Thank you!
Well... so long Rem-oil, Hello G-juice.
Interesting, keep it going Rick👍
Always love your show thanks for bringing on the big kitty I'm a little bit ahead of you Gunsmithing but that's okay I appreciate you I am older than you age brings wisdom saying the fact ring on Uncle Buck that guy knows more stuff than you will ever know if you live to be a thousand years old
I would say go juice is my new oil
I’m interested in this real world practical test sofar Rick. The world isn’t a lab, though there is a time and place for lab testing. Mostly wrote this to say thanks for the time and effort you put into your channel. Best of luck to you with the name change and your ongoing battle with the TH-cam liberal AI skynet algorithm bots suppressing channels like yours.
Just use motor oil
wheres the rusty glawk?
crockett616 I wondered the same, but it wasn’t in the test. I’m thinking thumbnail only.
My 9mm has alittle rust on it. Thanks for sharing..
Don’t want to Correct You, But GO JUICE (not Gun juice) & CLP (not CPL) DUMMY
GO JUICE IS THE WINNER !!
I use Mobil 1 grease on my Garand
I have a tube of that still unopened.. I need to try it
Interesting Results 🔫
mokie! Mokie! MOKIE!
(mokie likes 🐟 fish oil)
Is CV2 still going to be your go to rick?
for lubrication still with it, rust prevent, not so much, but I keep my guns clean and protected so rusting has never been a big issue, but I am pretty sure I am not buying Rem oil anymore..
Thanks for the test , good review
They use fish oil in marine paints. Stinks when drying. I bet Mokie would approve...
LUCAS ANYTHING SUCKS IMHO. Rick Sir, DID YOU EVER WATCH A YTUBE CHANNEL CALL " PROJECT FARM " ? This man does test's on ALL KINDS OF SHIT & GOES ABOVE & BEYOND TO FIND OUT WHAT WORKS, WHAT DOES NOT, GREAT CHANNEL. GUN JUICE, LMAO. RICK IT'S GO JUICE, YOU ARE FUNNY AS HELL & PRETTY GOOD TEST SIR.
I did watch him after some mentioned him, he does really good test..
Rick you use moble1 on any of your guns? Someone here said he heard the detergent might mess up the blue. Hear anything on that or experience any trouble yourself?
I used it before never noticed any issues.
A bunch of competition shooters use it because it does not " cook off" on your guns ....esp. the AR after 40 rnds in a minute or less...no problems with any finishes that I know of
Thanks for the info.
Safe to say anything thats been around forever works good all this fly by night high priced stuff is crap. One thing I heard works great is simple high temp grease.
gotta get me some o' that CPL and GUN JUICE...........
LGO, Damn! I've got to buy some of that stuff!!! Keep it handy to put on any metals that are near metal I dont want rusting!!
That stuff acts like a universal rust funnel wicking rust molecules right out of the atmosphere onto itself!
Spray a few nails around your house with it and nothing within 10 acres or so will have any rust on it!
Annnnd.....keep it handy on the go! Some idiot does you wrong, spray some on their fence and by morning there will only be a rust colored line that looks like the NFL marked the 50 yard line where their fence was!
Rude drivers? Peoe speeding through your neighborhood, A little LGO on the lug nuts of their wheels will fix that chit right up!
Some of the other oils look great though!
lol!!
lol
Open question: What are those nails used for again? Did you say roofing? Why TF do they rust so damn quick!?
@@mx500a4 Oh ok, well that makes perfect sense! Thanks VF! I knew youd know😉
I'm familiar with square, almond and stiletto nails, but thats a different thing😂💅
Hope you had a great Christmas with the fam!❣🇺🇸
They're called duplex nails. Most commonly for concrete forms so they can be dismantled. But good for any situation where you want it to hold but also be able to pull it later.
Same as any other 10d or 12d or whatever framing nail.
@@mx500a4 Neat! Never had a pug but apparently they 'scream' which is hilarious. I'm assuming there will be a video soon introducing the new additions!? Looking forward to it!
@@psyience3213 Thank you!
Fun test.
Oh yeah, I forgot about why I got on line tonight.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
TELL THE WHINERS TO GO OUT AND POUND SAND. IF THE SHOE FITS THEY SHOULD WEAR IT.
HAPPY TRAILS
Looks like Mobil 1 made the grade, I've been using MMystery Oil Thanks for test, Happy New Year; Hau’oli Mahahik; Shana Tova; Feliz Ano ~Nuevo; Prosit Neujahr,
Yeah, why buy expensive “gun lube” when motor oil has been proven in race and passenger cars for 100 years? Regular Guy on Regular Guy Firearm Channel here on TH-cam turned me onto motor oil and I have never looked back since.
I got 486 shots out of one cleaning and oiling on a Russian SKS before it jammed using 10w-30. The jam happened because the firing pin got a burr on it. I filed it off on the cement and it shot more after that.
I use mobile one it worked good in my motorcycle Nuf said
Great test 🐎🐎🐈🐇🐇🐇🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕
It's CLP. We'll give you a pass. After all you were Air Force.
Great experiment Rick. Seems Mobil 1 wins.
I remember when it was invented. Wonder how Slick50 would do.
(In New England we break balls on friends or people we like. And it's a service branch rivalry thing.)
The Russians used gasoline and diesel mix for the winter campaigns , On their rifles , they know their sht, tried and tested in Stalingrad, .
That's because they didnt have anything else available
You think if they were well supplied they would still use fuel mix
Dave Shaw oil froze up the action tho,
