Red didn't become a villain. Yes you have to fight him to beat the game. However I don't see him plotting anything nefarious. Just waiting for someone who can defeat him.
I fully agree with you. Red never even antagonizes the player at all, throughout the entire game of gold/silver/crystal, and is only hinted at by Professor Oak after the 16th badge is earned. Sure, he catches all 151 Pokémon in Red/Blue, but gold/silver/crystal show that there are even more Pokémon, which could be reason enough to train and prepare for any sort of challenges that come your way... like say, being invited to a beautiful tropical island to battle the fiercest trainers from all around the world. it's YOU who challenges Red, not the other way around. This is also why I feel the Gym leaders aren't antagonists either (except for Giovanni), merely obstacles for the player to overcome.
In the Pokemon Special comic he's there to heal an injury he sustained in a previous arc. Not canon obviously, but it's more of an explanation than the no explanation you get in the game itself.

1. Jane certainly has quite good control of Frostmourne. I guess it submitted to Jane's much more powerful mind and evil powers huh? 2. Big Boss did not die by aerosol and a lighter. As he came back in MGS4 and died there at the grave of his mentor the Boss. Though Venom Snake did indeed die during Metal Gear 1.
Not to mention big boss wasnt a villain at all, his clone was. And venom snake I have doubts about the validity of the child soldiers and nukes thing considering phantom pain but perhaps that explanation will forever go untold now kojima is gone.
Missing a big one. JC Denton from Deus Ex: The Invisible War. Out of four possible outcomes in the second game, 3 involve you fighting and killing him.
Gonna say Naked Snake doesn't necessarily belong here. His end game was to deal with the Patriots which formed right under his nose. He fits more under the Anti-hero than villain role despite being the main antagonist of 2 games in which there's an argument that Solid Snake is in fact the villain. That's how the Metal Gear series worked, the lines were blurred.
How about Celembrimbor in Shadow of War? He betrays Talion to fight Sauron. Or maybe Talion, because he becomes a Nazgul? Or maybe they dont count because they were both dead since the beginning? Or maybe they dont count because the game is not canon? ARGHHH! So confusing!
None of them became villains though, Talion became a Nazgul in order to continue fighting against Sauron and protecting the Realms of Men and Celebrimbor left Talion in order to defeat Sauron.
But the Nazgul were the ones responsible for hunting down Frodo and they participated in the war. And I considered Celebrimbor to be a villian since he betrayed Talion, the hero.
No, the Nine were responsible for what you suggested and talion isnt one of the Nine also, betraying Talion doesnt necessarily make Celebrimbor the villain since he betrayed him with good intentions whilst Talion refused to help. If gandalf told frodo to kill himself, but frodo didnt kill himself and stop sauron anyway does that mean Frodo is the villain?
Ethan Ruigrok I agree with you on Talion, but Celebrimbor definitely did not betrayed him with good intentions. Celebrimbor intention was to defeat Sauron by dominating him, so he could replace Sauron and rule Middle-Earth for himself. Talion refused to, in his own words, "trade one Dark Lord for another", so Celebrimbor left him to die.

... You forgot to mention that we don't kill Arthas the Lich King in WoW. He kills us, then Tyrion arrives and finished Arthas, wins, and then resurrects us, the players.
Tyrion was already there just cased in ice.
I know. How does that change what I said?
@@sancturillore you put that he arrives. When he kills us.
No, actually he does get out of that ice block he was captured in, but we kill Arthas ourselves after he got our souls out of Frostmourne.
Been waiting for this vid for a while
Thinking about your old video, *Heroes who decided to become evil, much cooler*
(Emphasis on the "much cooler")
Now, Ryu isn't a *hero* so to speak, but defeating an overpowered Megalomaniac super-villain Psycho (power) M.Bison is what a hero does, innit?
Until, he becomes *Evil Ryu* who isn't a world dominating type, however his power is called *"Satsui no Hado"* or "Surge of Murderous intent" and considering the other master of it is called *Akuma* "Demon", he isn't much of a dictator either but he kills his opponents, whilst they suffer 1000 deaths, and have their soul wiped out.
It's in their name gor god's sake!
And look at that dark energy emanating fron them!
And then a certain teenage girl picked it up and Akuma started questioning his lifestyle choices. :p
2:56 - Okay that should not have made me laugh as hard as I am right now. _Give me strength to vanquish my enemy! BONK!_ I am such a child XD.
Wait no Hero of Kavatch who literally became one of the most powerful demons to ever exist but became famous for murdering demons
Wait is there a different hero of kavatch or we talking oblivion? I never turned evil...into the dadric prince of madness sure but I wasn't evil...just fun
the Hero of Kvatch never turned evil just crazy, powerful, famous, wears funny outfits
and gives away free cheese
I thought this since the Hero is heavily implied to have become Sheogorath
However Sheogorath isn’t inherently evil he’s just..... chaotic. He’s just as likely to shower you in gold as force feed you your eyeballs.
You called Sheogorath evil. The Dunmer have him completely wrong.
@@maximaldinotrap difference between becoming evil and becoming the villain, if you spend your life murdering demons and are sworn to hunt them down, becoming one of the most powerful ones seems like becoming the villain lol
6:53 man that is one unusual way to describe Sub-Zero with you including the word, funsies.
Marmite is the best hero and villain.
lol
You... live in my nightmares.
"Marmite, why does nobody like you?" (gets set on fire) "Oh, yeah.."
Have you seen my pony?
The spread, the myth, the legend...
0:44 That guy sounds oddly familiar... Oooh he's voiced by Paul Eiding, the guy who voiced Max Tennyson and Colonel Campbell!
...I can't be the only one weirded out by the fact their voice is saying this stuff right?
Jane holding that sword explains so much.
WHERE DID YOU GET THAT FROSTMOURNE IT'S BEAUTIFUL
Also Red reminds me of Luke Skywalker from TLJ, but without the milking aliens thing.
Also
Red didn't become a villain he merely likes mountains
The best thing about arthas/the Lich king is after you beat him through what at the time was a very long hard fight, just to prove he could he one shots the entire raid before delivering a monologue.

Doe?
Doe isn't his actual name doe..
15:37 "Your princess is in another castle!"
What about a list of worst shopping malls in games.
Cortana developed early onset rampancy during the Raid of the Unyielding Hierophant. This was between CE and 2.
I leveled to 60 in vanilla wow, just waiting for the LK. Clearly, Jane can never be trusted for WoW lore. Have you ever seen her with sunglasses on?!? So cool....
Thanks for putting the filmography of Adam Sandler in the right perspective. :D
How could you say that Big Boss turned to a villain even after playing MGS4 and it showing that everything he did was to take down the Patriots, if anything more of an Anti-hero
Dammit Outside Xbox! Now I need to listen to Snake Eater again! "I give my life, not for honour, but for you..."
What happened to the chair?? D:
i miss chair
Looks super weird without the chair. Like they just started the channel.
Frostmourne ate it's soul.
Was Mario in Donkey Kong Jr. mentioned in the first video? Because it's pretty nuts that the character who would go on to become the most iconic hero in gaming turned heel in just his second appearance.
He was not really the hero of Donkey Kong one. More a Villain Protagonist.
I always got the feeling Red was a ghost. Anyone else get that vibe?
I was going to say agent three from splatoon, since they become the final boss in the octo expansion in splatoon 2, but does it really count when you are playing as a bad guy?
What about Al Mualim from Assassin's Creed? Poor Altaïr having to kill his mentor because of that damn corruptive piece of Eden
Technically, Al Mualim was evil from the beginning of that game. He was not corrupted by the piece.
@@SolomonCaineReaper but no one would have known that when first playing it
@@craigphoenix6522 that's irrelevant though. Not already knowing or not, that's what happened. Dude was always an asshole manipulating us. Besides, that was my first guess when he revealed himself to be a dickhead when I first played through it
5:42 all true, but he sits on top of the mountain doing nothing, and drops the sickest beat in all of Pokemon 😍
Jane probably would end up possessing the sword instead of being possessed
Shay Cormac, Assassin's Creed Rogue. He starts off seeking to save innocent lives from the ignorant floundering of his Assassin brothers and sisters but in the epilogue it is revealed that he kickstarts the French Revolution as revenge for Connor killing his fellow Templars of the Colonial Rite, fully buying into the Templars' 'end justifies the means' philosophy.
Does Lara croft in shadow of the tomb raider count as a hero turned villain? I mean she does kick start the apocalypse!
Not intentionally and she does fix it, so, I mean ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
oh cool... i skipped every pokeyman game after, so i never even knew until now about the original trainer becoming the boss of that game. that's nice :)
Also Pokémon trainer Red is refrenced in ALL of the games
@@CelticAssassin Well...I'd compare the plot of Metal Gear to a pretzel, but honestly pretzels are relatively simple.
Missing a big one. JC Denton from Deus Ex: The Invisible War. Out of four possible outcomes in the second game, 3 involve you fighting and killing him.
Red is just the silent type.
No, the Nine were responsible for what you suggested and talion isnt one of the Nine
also, betraying Talion doesnt necessarily make Celebrimbor the villain since he betrayed him with good intentions whilst Talion refused to help.
12:45 Wtf that was extremely specific and I feel attacked!😂
Funny, I thought superman from injustice would be here.
The comment at 13:38 was very good...had to give this a like just for that alone, lol.
what about haythem from assassins creed 3???
Haythem was always a templar. Shay would be a good pick though.
0nlySurvivor good points but still haythem was a hero at first then turned into the villain
but shay was ..............................
let’s say both of em were heroes turned into villains
@@marioluigi4595 but in terms of the games narrative haythem was never a hero. Its easier to argue that big boss was never a villain after the "twist" ending of mgs5.
Haytham seems pretty decent for a templar, he wouldn’t kill any innocent people or domesticated pets as it will cause desynchronization if you did. If Shay killed civilians, he just got a bounty
Haythem wasn't quite a hero turned villain. He was always the villain, they just didn't tell us until after Sequence 1.
Robert Baxter from the Time Crisis series is not on the list? He was the main protagonist of Time Crisis 2, but then turned on the VSSE in Time Crisis 5 Mastermind Edition
Guys what about Maze from the fable series... He literly saves your life when your a young boy and turns you into a hero only to try and take your life in the end! We forgive you Maze.
4 years late but idc, I've never hated Maze he was pitiful
No Mike, the forehead bit has been done to dust. You know where else it can be inserted and then act as a further torment for Diablo eh? Remember, there is always time for lubricant.
It's not who I am underneath, But my actions that define me....
Natsu Dragneel The actual phrase is “but what I do”, not “but my actions”. Still a good quote, though.
I liked this video not only because it's good but because Jane said "my dude" and I found that funny
