When you ask two foreigners if we need to limit immigration to the country they’re in you’ve probably already answered the question.

So, 100 people come in to the country 10% are going to work in the NHS, but eventually 100% of them are going to use it. Is that viable ?

A deranged conversation. You have clearly not understood that people on working visas bring dependents, both young AND old.
We are currently getting thousands of care workers arrive. These care workers are by and large women. The most children I have personally witnessed is 9, all school age along with a male partner who spoke no English and was from India. Also from India were 2 exceedingly elderly people (80+) who were also dependents of another care worker.
So 2 people on minimum wage who have contributed nothing to the economy brought 9 school places and 2 NHS users. They will also need housing as the care homes only offer 3 months accommodation then it is to the local authority to get housed by them as a priority
There is a reason councils are going bankrupt
Have you noticed any new hospitals being built or surgeries being opened? Me neither

A family member works in social services & trying to get vulnerable families or single people even housed is a Nightmare. She worked in the social services childrens migrant service for 'unaccompanied children' who often obs are NOT children and left dissolutioned because Kent hv no more Foster homes, etc and kent espcially Dover cant cope with the influx of migrants! Even if what he said were true, what he is actually suggesting is that we tear a hole right through the Garden of England, right through "England's Green and Pleasant Land" to build housing to accommodate more ethnic immigrants!!!
And where does this end??? It ends when the ethnic minorities become the ethnic majority. It's all ready happened in both the nation's capital and it's 2nd City. It won't be long before it happens everywhere!!! Take to the streets of your town centre and you will witness that this change it already happening!!!
And, so it is not enough to just tacitly sit back and let this come to pass!!! This is an election year, so take action, stand up and actively campaign in support of your local right-wing politician. As Kitchener said, "You're Country Needs You!!!" United we stand, divided, as a nation, we fall!!!

Working on the land used to provide a living for a family, now you get low wages, obliged to live on site and pay for accommodation, which makes it impossible for locals to work in the industry. Our farming is also insufficiently mechanised.
Not long ago, kids and students did summer jobs, families would go from the cities to the farms for a 'working holiday' for seasonal work, and farms did a 'pick your own'. Not now.

Concreting over Britain because of ever increasing population levels is detrimental to Britain and will lead to more flooding. New homes are being built - in 2022 there were over 200,00 new dwellings in the UK. For Marvyn to claim he drove through Kent and saw “nothingness” so therefore we can accommodate millions more immigrants reveals he shouldn’t be on this show debating serious political issues. Most of the UK mainland consists of woodlands, forest and farmland. There are also areas you can’t build on or wouldn’t want to build on such as national parks. More land lost to houses also means more roads, shops, schools, medical facilities, car parks, offices etc. Also increased traffic and pollution levels, more sewage in rivers and the sea because the sewage systems can’t cope. And what about greater water shortages and lack of food? Currently 69% of land in England is used for agriculture (in 2000 it was 75%) so we end up needing less farm labourers not more. Higher population levels will mean more food needs to be imported. This will only serve to diminish the British way of life in terms of culture and the quality of life.

We do need to put control over immigration as many of the problems we have are from having too many people. But I hope we would never turn our backs on those immigrants in genuine need. There has to be strict limits but one problem is we have too many of our own who do not want to work & at a time when there is employment available. Sadly some of those who do come legally do work well. But there does have to be limits.

The country needs laborers for jobs people simply do not want to perform. Ask any able bodied young person to wake up at 04:00 AM to pick fruit and veg... or to be a janitor, a transport driver, a caregiver, sanitation, or food production worker. It's easier to sit home and let the government support them.

    • @yournationneedsyou
      @yournationneedsyou 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

You do realise that Jobcentres' across the land are littered with both immigrants and their homegrown kin, don't you???
In fact, the number of immigrants, either 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation, who are already in the country and are NOT actively working is countless... so why do you imagine that bringing in more will fix the problem, instead of adding to it further???
Surely, if immigrants have the work ethic that you imagine them to have, and as you've outlined, the work exists for them to do, they'd take the work at once, without hesitation. And, of course, the same would be true of their family members, who hold the same intrinsic values you espouse. In this way, the only people to be found occupying the Jobcentres, claiming state benefits, should be the lackless White British, who don't have the work ethic of which you speak. This is simply not the case and I apologise, but you're delusional if you think that it is!!!
Oh, to be sure, immigrants may settle in society with every intention of working. But the evidence tells us that a large proportion, once they have settled, will consume state benefits, such as unemployment benefits. And under such circumstances, you'll need to introduce more immigrants into the country to fill the void that has been left by those who are now claiming state benefits. Only, by this point, the drain on societies resources will be such that the need will exist to bring in even more immigrant workers to fill the void. You do understand, don't you, that under the current system, it's a vicious circle without end!!!
And so, the answer to the problem that you have identified is not to bring in ever more immigrants to fill employment gaps in the UK market, but to address the manner in which state benefits are awarded. Perhaps, this may mean withdrawing state funded support all together and forcing the vast majority of people into employment that they are capable of doing.
You speak of the nation's need for fruit pickers. But tell me, why should the government look overseas for such workers when there are many unemployed citizens in the country who can do this work? Wouldn't it make sense for the government to instruct people to attend their local Jobcentre at 8.00 AM, where they will board a coach that will take them to whatever farm needs its fruit picking? Their lunches will be supplied, and then, at the end of the end of the working day, they'll be coached back to the Jobcentre from which they departed? And in return, they will receive their state benefits. Those who fail to attend will have their benefits sanctioned. Tough actions such as these will force people to labour for a living, thus eliminating the need to recruit from overseas.
The answer to the problem that you raise is not to bring in more immigrants, instead, it's time the UK toughened up the way that state benefits are handed out and in that respect, I believe that you would eliminate the need for overseas labour thus altogether, fixing the problem of which you speak.
Of course, I firmly believe that if the government toughened up the way in which it awards state benefits, the level of immigration would drop accordingly.

If we still have labour shortages after 30 years of mass immigration then it's pretty obvious that the people we've been bringing here to do these jobs also aren't doing these jobs. Further, 1st and 2nd generation immigrants are more likely to be unemployed than natives.
