    Lin Mei has no clue. It’s not just that disabled people can’t work due to the work not being accessible. How are they going to get from their doorstep to their place of work? People who have mobility issues have to pay taxis to get to work because the transport system does not accommodate them!
    Also, if the government can’t be bothered to give people mental health support how are they expecting more people to get well enough to work. Going from being fit and healthy to disabled and unable to walk will give anyone mental health difficulties.

    Lin's remedy for people with depression, is to have them work for a pittance. Yeah right! Subsidising employers who pay minimum wage and don't pay their taxes, is apparently okay? Twisted thinking! She then goes on to advocate for MP's to have an increase in their salary. They cant survive on £80-100,000 but working people are expected to survive on minimum wage? These politicians have presided over the complete decimation of Britain and they deserve more money? Wake up Britain!

    Instead of reducing benefits for our poorer people, they should look at the massive bill for the illegal immigrants staying in hotels. That should be looked at and reduced. The subsidis that are given to parliament for their alcohol and meals, along with the expenses paid to them on top of their salaries. That should be reduced before hitting subsidies. The amount we give to foreign countries such as china and India that should be given up before hitting benefits. The massive amounts spent on providing armaments to other countries should also be cut before benefits. These are just ideas off the top of my head. I am sure other people could come up with more ideas.

    It seems to me so many of these problems have arisen from people blindly following the Thatcherite attitude that society hardly exists. If people are treated badly, labelled in derogatory terms, treated like disposable means of production this is likely to cause huge sociological and psychological problems.
    If instead people are treated like human beings deserving of rights, capable of doing brilliant things, capable of caring for others, and if invested in will solve social and psychological problems, then positive change is inevitable.
    However, as these are socialist principles rooted in evidence from academic research, our media and many in government like to spit and stamp on these principles. Nasty and pompous people are the problem!!! And i can add greed to that list as well!!

    Local housing allowance does not cover all of market rent.
    A room in a shared house in my local area ranges from 400.00 to 600.00 a month.
    The local housing allowance is 338.00 a month.
    If the rent is higher then the LHA rate then the tenant has to pay the rest out of their universal credit standard allowance.
    Single and over 25 is currently 368.00 for the standard allowance.
    So this puts pressure on household budgets and actually keeps the unemployed in poverty.
    I work myself full time but certainly for the unemployed the government not increasing housing costs each year and freezing it has caused a lot of people a lot of problems.

    Slashing benefits won't reduce debt here's why
    benefits have a economic multiplier of around 0.9
    For every £1 you cut your saving 10p
    40% of claimants are on in work benefit and we spend collectively 20 billion on housing subsidies
    Looking at these figures building more council houses would be a better option to reduce debt (I know it sounds upside down but structural investment comes from a different part of the balance sheet and is written off over time)

We need to retrain, offer apprenticeships, tax the tax dodgers in the tax havens, release the abilities of UK people by offering promotion to the talented. Living in Canada for five years I found, first a good technical education but then a policy of promoting those with talent up the ladder. After working here for most of my life in the UK I find the opposite is true here. Result? Poor management which is 80% of our UK problems. And of course Quitting the EU by the EU Quitters.

      Lowering VAT tends to benefit the rich.
      Making the tax system simpler would help stop avoidance, while not illegal, can be easy if you can afford a good accountant.
      Joining the CU and SM will set us back as we will then have to cancel all trade deals and mean we have to pay billions back into the EU.

    • @Odd_pictures
      @Odd_pictures 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah. But by taxing the rich more on their income, you’d recoup that surely, and you could sell it to them as a benefit to them as well.
      And lowering VAT would help the poorest and restart the economy, I remember Gordon Brown did it.
      And could we not rejoin the customs union but stay out of the European Union, like Norway or Turkey? Or do you think the EU wouldn’t allow it now, to set an example.

    • @jpw6893
      @jpw6893 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Odd_pictures How would VAT help the poorest?
      Yes you could rejoin the CU and SM but we would have to leave our other trade deals and we would have to pay into the EU because when you are in the CU/SM you pay the EU the tariffs you collect from outside the EU, we always had to.
      Raising tax doesn't help, especially by so much. People will just use scheme's to avoid it. The best way I think is to simplify the system, encourage people to pay that way.

    • @Odd_pictures
      @Odd_pictures 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jpw6893 I just presumed if things were 5% cheaper, it’s the poorest that spend all their money rather than keep it, and the vast majority of people would have more money, you’d have more money circulating.
      I understand you’d have to renege on our current trade deals by joining the CU, but surely it’s for the greater good.
      And couldn’t something be put in like the triple lock in pensions, so people’s taxes have to be paid at the highest rate across the board, dividends, wages etc.
      I’m genuinely interested in this stuff and wanting to learn..
