      Gringos with their Gringo girlfriends getting robbed no problem in Colombia. There are a lot less videos on TH-cam about that. But it makes sense because most tourists in Medellin travel solo and like to hook up with local chicks or even guys if it is a woman traveling. Criminals are watching you everywhere you go. It doesn't matter if you have a girlfriend or not. If they decide to hit on you they will trust me.

    • @investmentanalyst779
      @investmentanalyst779 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@ThinLineMedia gringo is a strange term. Doesn’t apply to us. Gringo describes a look. Girlfriend is Honduran, fluent Spanish, and I’m Dominican, also fluent Spanish. We don’t even almost look like Gringos. We also also both smart, we don’t even drink or smoke, so we’re never around the clubs. When we go to Colombia, we’re on business. We go from point A to point B, that’s it. Otherwise we go to the mall attached to the hotel.
      You’re watching too many videos, referring to the video where they said they’re watching you from the airports. He also said they target solo males. If you’re a couple, you aren’t a target, you’re just looking like an easy lick from the moto robbers. Probability of getting robbed is like less than 2%, traveling with your girlfriend likely reduces those odds to less than 1%. Maybe if you’re a white gringo who doesn’t know a lick of Spanish then your odds may be higher.

    • @ThinLineMedia
      @ThinLineMedia 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@investmentanalyst779 No I was referring to other video where a couple was robbed in Medellin. Chance of getting robbed by moto robbers is pretty high. Your taxi driver can also tip the moto robbers. That is also a problem in Colombia that anybody can tip the criminals. While gringo look gives a person higher percentage of getting robbed, if you look Latino you can still get robbed. Lots of Colombians, Mexicans, Equadorians, Chileans, Argentinians - the list goes on are getting robbed. The moment you relax and think nothing is gonna happen to you and that you know how to move, that is when shit can happen. Now, we forgot that you also can get scammed in Colombia which sometimes is no different from a robbery because you can also lose little to large amounts of money that way ....

    • @investmentanalyst779
      @investmentanalyst779 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ThinLineMedia I don’t take taxi. I get a personal driver hand picked from the institution I’m doing business with. I’m a a wall st analyst, not only did I reduce risk before hand, if we do get robbed, I wouldn’t lose anything. The phone I’m carrying is insured by my credit card, I only carry one credit card, if which I can lock when I reach the hotel, where I have the rest of my cards. I never have cash, credit is king. My money will never be at risk. Rule number 1 of having money, use other people’s money. All my money is invested, not even I can access my money outside market hours. And I can’t withdraw after selling. Have to wait a few days to settle.

    Since a lot of you dudes don’t speak Spanish. The best way to stay safe is learn Spanish avoid those women who sell themselves. Avoid certain streets and do not wear jewelry and act rich. Do not hang around people who are possibly engaged in criminal activities or have problems with certain individuals. And also spend money for a good hotel with good security. And if you want to bring a woman over have another safe hotel where you bring them over.💯🤷🏻‍♂️

    Good job with the advice. I live in Boston. I will share 2 things. A former co-worker here in Boston, who is from Medellin, once told me something very interesting. He and his son went to Medellin for vacation. At one point they stayed at a hotel for a night. The next day they left. They took a cab. On their cab ride, they got stopped by these guys with guns. They ordered my co-worker to hand over whatever money he had. He complied. They then took off. My co-worker is convinced that someone in the hotel knew that they travelled from America and therefore supposedly had money. This person then tipped off the robbers who waited for him. Here's the second story. I know another Colombian here in Boston. She's in her late 50s or early 60s. The other day I mentioned to her about the tourists who are getting drugged in Medellin, her hometown. You know what she said? "Good for them, why are they going to pick up those women?" It felt really cold for her to say that but I wonder who else feels that way in Colombia? I have always wanted to visit Colombia but that has changed. Not going there for the foreseeable future.

    My mother is Colombian and emigrated to NYC in the 70s. She use to say the United States is a great country even the poor are rich. I read comments of idiots believing that they’re from Chicago, NYC, Los Angeles and etc that they could survive in Colombia. Yet, these guys primarily stay in strata 5-6 districts in Medellin. It’s easy to play tough online like so many of these individuals. I was born in the United States in the Bay area but I have also lived in Chicago. Nothing in Chicago compares to ciudad Bolívar, Usme, Soacha and the south of Bogota. The poverty is immense alone

    Are there any other precautions men should take in the mid to long term when they start exposing themselves a bit more to friends, a girlfriend, or business partners? We hear the tragic stories where they play the long game on someone and get them 12-18 months down the line after some level of trust and rapport is reached.

    Excellent advice from someone who knows and has knowledge and size to be a bodyguard but still stays smart and knows that there’s limits and that nobody is invincible. One thing that I would add is to stay where there’s a receptionist who takes their ID and also does not give it back or let them leave without talking to you for your ok. You are right too ably clothes. Lots of guys ay to dress like a Colombian but come on, mannerisms are so different and same with haircuts so doubtful most will pass as a Colombian. So right too about it’s also a roll of the dice when or if you’ll be a victim.

      For the short term stuff a lot of guys just do informal handshake contract and follow around the client but they're not legally hired its kind of a loop hole cause you could pay him to follow you around but not to use his firearm permission to work as your bodyguard but if both your lives were in danger then he would have to right to use his firearm as a last resort for self defense (not because you pay him to).

      Basically once your get an escolta you become a rich colombian meaning you no longer associate with the common folks. Only go to the high class places which are gated and have parking for cars. You go dorectly to and from your gated house or condominio. If you're pulling up to normal spots with a bodyguard it would call a lot of attention unless you just have him dress in street clothes and hide the weapon and just act like a friend then it would be a benefit as you're two men not one but low key at the same time

    One tip I have is to not use your international SIM card. Keep it hidden or locked somewhere on a separate device somewhere safe. Use a Colombian SIM card with nothing important tied to that number. That way they can't 2fa you as easily.
    you can still use your main WhatsApp account with a Colombian sim.

    Great advice bro. Ive always had a lot of success online dating in Colombia. I never had an issue with tinder. You just have to take these precautions. Like checking their socials and taking their cedulas etc. When your sex deprived coming from the states and you come for 1 or 2 weeks, these are the people that are usually the victims of crimes. Its usually in touristy areas too. Sabaneta is home for me. Maybe not for others. Get out of poblado if you want to meet women. However, if you struggled dating in the states, your going to struggle here too. Colombian/foreign women are not coming to save you. You guys gotta have your ducks in order and be well rounded, or you will be taken advantage of

      That's why we don't trust stats, especially in latin america brother my first hand experience tells me there's no way in h3ll it's 50 50 anyone's whose been to colombia can attest, I actually personally don't know one female who has gone. Maybe stats are based off inbound flights? Mainly family members/ Colombians living aboard / possibly Venezuelan migrants? I could be wrong tho I simply share my first hand accounts

    Are there any other precautions men should take in the mid to long term when they start exposing themselves a bit more to friends, a girlfriend, or business partners? We hear the tragic stories where they play the long game on someone and get them 12-18 months down the line after some level of trust and rapport is reached.

      Hey bro thank you! I'd say in general never show what you have more than necessary. Also anytime you're about to shell out a large amount of money just be aware that things can go wrong quite often and you may lose it.
      Also leave an air of mystery around yourself that may keep partners guessing if you could possibly have a dark side or not. Sadly if people think they can screw you over with 0 consequences they will be much more likely to that's just the harsh reality
