    I've owned the A7RIV for about 2+ weeks. The detail in it's 61MP images is simply spectacular. If you need to print large, gallery quality giclees, as I do, this is simply an amazing camera, admittedly hampered by it's antiquated menu system. As bad as the Sony menu system is, it's short-comings are mitigated substantially by it's My Menu ability to place frequently altered settings in a convenient location. My A7RIV is a keeper, despite some/many things I don't like about it.... but what camera is "perfect"?
    A mirrorless, 12-14 fps, 54MP, Nikon D850, with an F mount, would be about all that I would every want/need.

      @outoforder0 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Stefan1968ful This is why Sony finds it hard to find a competitive and thus the price will not be competitive. At this megapixels it is medium format range but there is no MF camera can do what A7R IV can do.

    "You can turn a 200mm lens into a 300mm lens." So, you're basically cropping the photo in the camera instead of photo editing software. Why throw away half of a photo's information before getting it into an editor? It's not like the sensor's resolution magically increases when cropping.

    • @quentin6583

      The A7RIV in aps-c returns a sharper capture then cropping. (I tested this on a tripod & pixel peeped) This turned the buffer turns into a monster. It’s somewhere around 80ish? Great for fast moving subjects. Also, in aps-c the focus points cover most of the area, great for fast moving subjects.

    I wish Sony would have the pop out screen features like they had on the Sony A77 where you could basically have the screen the way you want. I love when in public when the shot was difficult, and you use that screen feature and you see people around you thinking "wait? a camera can actually do that?", then you spend a few minutes showing people the camera and many don't know it's a Sony. Hopefully that they bring that back, until then I won't replace my Sony Alpha a77 as its still going strong.

    The best review I've read about this camera pointed out in very good detail why the usefulness of 61 megapixels is limited to a very few professional photographers. It's overkill in a very big way for nearly anyone who uses a camera, professional or otherwise. Personally I don't touch any product with the Sony name on it. That dislike has been formed over several decades. Sony is very good at marketing. When it comes to product excellence coupled to what is spent, that's another matter.

When I first got those 2 camers I flipped the screen out and over then closed the screen with the view facing me so I can look at my picture. I just recently bought the A7R III and guess what? You don’t ‘turn a 200mm lens into a 300mm lens.’ You’re just cropping the edges, which you can do in post, and you can do that with any camera.

    Hi, Im interested in the Sony A7r 4 and watching your video and the 47 r 4 the menus are a bit scary. do you have any regrets getting that camera as far as the menus go? I thought that once the menus were set maybe there might not be any problems? whats your view? as I am coming from canon 5d mark 2.

      I was bit surprised at his menu comments. I am not techy. Totally self taught. I am an artist so don't even ask me about how I get my pics. A recent comment on a pic I took was 'oh I see you were going for the Rembrandt look, no sarcasm, I know him. He then proceeded to ask about focal length, ISO, and other such things and I said. I have no idea. I shoot, fart about in the program, or not, and finish. POINT BEING: I have no problem with the menu on the A7rR III so do not anticipate a problem on IV. We are all different and we need only please ourselves.

      Criticising Sony menus seems to be an internet meme these days, I have no difficulty with them at all plus there are fully customisable menu memory recall positions on your mode dial if you get 'frightened ' by the menus.

    Someone will always find something to complain about but the point is you dont have to wait 10 years to complain for Canon or Nikon you can now complain every two for Sony and then wait for Canon & Nikon to try and copy what Sony has done and then you can go and complain about that....

      Why would it need to be full frame? Most cinema is shot on Super 35, which isn't even close to full frame. I never get the obsession with full frame. Fujifilm X-T3 and Panasonic GH5S are incredible video cameras. Nobody really notices or should care about sensor size. People tend to obsess waay to much over tech and don't consider "Does my end user notice or even care" the answer to that question is almost 99% of the time, no.

    • @pranksonyou3028
      @pranksonyou3028 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BurningBroadcast The only reason you go into full-frame is the glass. If you want high-quality lenses, they make it in full-frame. like the Canon L series.

    • @BurningBroadcast
      @BurningBroadcast 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pranksonyou3028 They make excellent cinema glass for M4T and Fuji X, Fuji's lenses are just as good. Canons L lenses aren't some special one of a kind glass you can't get with Sony, Nikon ,Fuji. All those brands make sharp high performance lenses (with a price tag to match) The Helios 85mm is a popular video lens and it's all but sharp, it has unique rendering though.
      And above all, you can use Canon L glass on those bodies too with an adapter. L isn't exclusive to full frame sensor.
      But more importantly , if we are talking about video production, you don't really want to use L lenses designed for photography, you want cinema lenses with better manual focus control and stepless aperture rings. Also having the light gathering indicated in T stops is a good benefit, more accurate.
      Thats all at the high end, if you make TH-cam videos, none of that really matters as it's all compressed to shit on the website anyway. Which returns me to the point, does the end user notice? No.
      I would never pick something large and heavy like a 1Dx II for video when something like a GH5S, Fuji X-T3 or even A7S II exists.
