I'm stuck at 24MP with the A73. Mega pixels don't really matter if you cannot get the sharpness going w/ the right lens. Pano merging is totally the way to go to keep everything sharp in the middle.

Good, now sony has the megapixel stupidity out of the way, they can release an A7S III with 8 megapixel epic low light.
The irony is the 12mp sii was still worse in low light than the 24 mp a7iii. As long as they stack or use bsi tech then the mp doesn't matter, the lowlight will still be better than you need.

They will either keep the 12Mpx for 4K OR they will boost the megapixel count to about 20 something to shoot 6K. Hope the 8K rumors aren't true though, I would hate to trade super low light performances for useless 8K video.

Yes you are so right. That Batman was everything I could see in the video. Awesome piece. I recently got the new seadweller and love it very much. I would love to say worth every penny but you know Rolex’s prices these days... and the Batman is Even Harder to get I assume.

FINALLY, there's enough detail to count EVERY imperfection, every hair out of place, every zit, and every pore on everyone's face I take a picture of! {As long as the person isn't moving, and the tripod is still, and there's no other movement, and the shutter speed is super fast, and...WHAT, NO 4k, 60FPS VIDEO?? Sony...How DARE YOU! ...and for > $3000! UGH...PASS!! {Great video review, though, Kai!}

I am astounded by how incredible the high iso performance is, and you even get 61MP as a bonus. Damn this camera will be great for night photographers.

Just sold my entry level mirrorless to upgrade to this. Started with 2 years on the canon EOS RP. Didn't know a thing about photography and wanted to learn. This whole time all of my friends have been on sony, and even with the exact same settings, same shot, literally hanging out together, the sony shots just looked so crisp. I've conformed. I actually understand cameras now and know what i'm looking for, and it seems sony knows what I want in a rig. hahaha im stoked!

After revisiting this channel in 5 years, This guy sounds like the top gear of cameras.
I used to curse having to edit 50MP files from my 5Ds! Some impressive features on this, especially eye AF in video mode but I think I'll be sticking to my A7III and not having to upgrade my MacBook and hard drives haha!

@@CraigPitts obviously using it as a wedding camera when taking like 1000 images total is a no go, but for very planned nature or studio shots it will be perfect.
@@leecason9468 you only take a 1000 photos a wedding?... man I must be overshooting! lol I average 2500 a wedding with two bodies. Having two 61mp bodies would be insaaaaaane with 2500 photos. You'd probably need a new harddrive per job at that point lol

Photography for the web is the trend nowadays. Who needs this beast if cellphone photos are just right for the web. This is the reason why I mothballed my Canon SLRs and Nikon DSLRs. My interest now is focused in cellphone photo technology.

This makes me wonder how the A9ii will be. They basically covered all the issues on the A7Riii somehow and that was a really good camera as is. Also I wish you did a low light test.... Im wondering how it will do with noise

Something rarely spoken of is the high megapixel cameras require the finest glass possible and most people can't afford the top lenses. Invest in glass not bodies.

My take, Sony really isn't listening too much to the Prosumer. I'd rather have a 20 MP sensor that's color accurate and bright in low light as opposed to *grainy* at night. Not to mention a real touchscreen.
I want a camera that's great for 4K and HD video, that has large enough sensors that night and low light shots aren't grainy and offers reasonably priced low Aperture lenses .. all in about the $2,000 USD range i.e. priced to replace the Sony A7 III.

@@sjm.photos .. I don't see the Sony A7 IV's value. My daughter is due in about 3 weeks and I'm looking to buy her some video / camera equipment.
So far on the shortlist is the Sony A7 III and Nikon Z6 and for travel the Sony RX100 VII. In addition to lenses, etc. I'm perfectly aware of costs.
What drives me nuts is the absolute snails pace in the camera industry. If you can buy a 60MP / 4K 60 FPS in a friggin smartphone .. WTF! Even if Sony cut prices by 50% the scale of production cost would still make them highly profitable and they'd destroy the competition.

@@sjm.photos .. If I actually felt a Smartphone were better, it definitely has the size advantage and portability, I wouldn't be shopping for cameras.
In addition, Smartphones have computational advantages, example most cameras shadow your face almost black when there's a strong backlight e.g. sun behind the person you're taking a picture of video of infront of you. I wish cameras could have access to this AI information.
There's no doubt a full frame sensor wipes the floor with a puny sensor on a Smartphone, add to that the quality of the glass, and so on. Just imagine a Sony, Nikon or whatever with the same processing power.
Agreed, computational photography in modern smartphones is tops compared to DSL/Mirrorless cameras out now. I usually shoot manual but there are customers who have the money to buy ones of these cameras not being a pro, leave the camera set to auto, and are most likely not impressed with the results compared to a smart phone simply because of the multiple exposures it combines to produce a single image. These manufactures need to wake up to this.

My one problem with most newer cameras, they’re too light! A little weight actually helps steady my shaky right hand, makes focusing and keeping the focus easier. It’s not easy to set up a tripod on my wheelchair, to take those shots that just pop up.
