Joe's Kansas City BBQ - Best BBQ in the USA!

  • Kansas City is the BBQ capital of the USA. This city has some of the best BBQ restaurants on the planet and the one that stands above them all is Joe's Kansas City BBQ (formerly known as Oklahoma Joe's) - and yes they serve burnt ends, brisket, pulled pork, and the divine Z-Man sandwich out of an old Shamrock Gas Station. Even Anthony Bourdain touted Joe's as one of the 13 places to eat on Earth before you die. This is BBQ at its best and a must stop in Kansas City.

      It's weird because I am from Kansas City, and I would argue that Texas does it better. I guess it all depends on what you prefer. I love a very good brisket more than any other BBQ meat. But brisket can easily be the worst if you don't do it right. I am looking for quality meat, and I think Texas focuses on the meat more than Kansas City.

    Some of the best ribs I’ve had, definitely the best fries. The sandwich you talk about is pretty great, along with others they have. Burnt ends are good.
    Brisket in KC is atrocious. I have had better brisket from backyards than I’ve had in KC.

    • @Jake41ify
      @Jake41ify หลายเดือนก่อน

      I second the Brisket. Born and raised here, but Kansas City struggles with Brisket in my opinion. Its typically razor thin in Kansas City to mask a lot. Just having the better 'burnt ends', doesn't make you great at making Brisket.

    I'm actually offended you called that the best BBQ in the USA. Maybe someone would believe you if you claimed it the best BBQ in Kansas City.

    • @junkequation
      @junkequation 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm in South Texas. Smolik's Smokehouse in Mathis and Butter's in Sinton both make peak Texas barbeque, but they're way out of the way of any big cities. Kreuz Market in Lockhart near Austin is also excellent. We have Texas monthly that ranks barbeque joints, but, in my experience, many restaurants in Texas, especially in the hill country around Austin, have pretty much perfected the art. At that point, it's really difficult to say which one is #1. find a good bbq joint in texas, and you will be served meat that tastes as good as it's possible to make it.
      Moist/marbled brisket (brisket from the point) is the best piece of Texas barbeque, and the singular best piece of meat in existence if you ask me. It contains lots of layers and marbling of fat like pork belly. Smoked low and slow over 12+ hours, that fat is fully rendered, smoky, with a salty, peppery crust, and every bite melts in your mouth. I think it should be seasoned only with salt, pepper, and the smoke from the pit. Adding barbeque sauce will only detract from the flavor that the cook painstakingly added to that meat over many hours of fire management, and that'd be a tragedy.
      That being said, Kreuz also makes sausage that is out of this world. Smolike's makes a beef rib that gives their moist brisket a run for its money. Pork ribs done right are very close to as good as brisket. These meats should speak for themselves, though. Salt, pepper, smoke. Render the fat and get a crust. I'd certainly be willing to try bbq from other regions, but I don't think it's possible to improve on the Texas style!

      @GetmeouttahereErik  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Awesome, I hope to roadtrip Texas soon and will make a pitstop at Smoliks and Butters whenever I'm in that region. Some of the best BBQ I've had in Texas is La Barbecue and Black's BBQ in Austin, and Angelo's in Fort Worth. Thanks for sharing I will make time to visit these one of these days.@@junkequation
