United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 23 ก.ย. 2011
After years of creating travel blogs: still photography & journals - I finally decided to start uploading travel vlog videos of unique and fascinating places across the United States.
Why GetMeOuttahere?
When I graduated college nearly 15 years ago (2010) in the midst of the recession I was having a hard time finding full time employment and mixed feelings about what I wanted to do with my life. Living in rural Iowa at the time, I found that getting out of the house and exploring nearby state parks and county museums filled me with positivity, introduced me to fascinating people, and motivated me to be more productive in life.
I created the phrase "Get Me Outta Here" as an expression to get out of the house. You don't need to travel around the world to discover fascinating people and places, these features are all around you in your own backyard.
Perhaps some of these places will motivate you to get out of your house and explore the history and culture around you.

The Birthplace of Kool-Aid - Hastings, Nebraska
Explore the history of Kool-Aid, one of the most beloved sugary beverages on the planet - it was created in Hastings, Nebraska (of all places) and they have an exhibit called Kool-Aid Discover the Dream that takes you through the journey of Kool-Aid's origins. The actual building Kool-Aid was first conceived in is also located in downtown Hastings - so join me as we explore the Birthplace of Kool-Aid - OH YEAH!

Atlantic, Iowa - Exploring My Childhood Home Town
I tubed 3 or 4 times, last time I went I saw a few snickers bars floating down the river. Between that and all the people peeing in the river I will never go again. So much pollution too, cans on the bottom, plastic bottles trash the people just don't appreciate the beauty, we are lucky to have the river. Noise pollution too, party raft on the river with 20-30 tunes tied together radio blaring loudly. If you are looking for a peaceful float watching the beautiful scenery go by, try somewhere else.
Haunted hamburger wassss soooo good 😂 I was supposed to go for the burger but stayed the whole day exploring. Really unique town.
The inside looks like a smaller version of the Lanford Lunch Box on Roseanne! You can definitely tell she drew inspiration from the Canteen Lunch!
Great video. Love that part of the US.
Title’s wrong. It’s not even the best in Kansas City. It’s good, but ppl exaggerate.
i hope to find a flannel shirt like yours !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for posting videos!!!!!!!!
Joe’s is really good, but far from the best.
What a dump
Searched for this from mohnish pabrais post
Prices please
I get/do my drugs in that alley.
Tornado hills there before 1980
Great video ❤️
Apparently polar bears will hunt humans 😱
It is a wonderful zoo but it is not the highest-elevation zoo in NA. Big Bear Alpine Zoo in Big Bear California sits at 7140 feet.
@@jessicawhiton3614 Technically if you count the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun the zoo goes up to an elevation of 8,136 ft. So definitely room for debate, but now you gave me a new zoo to visit! Big Bear Zoo looks interesting!
My mom and her family grew up in Grand island and lived through this event. The things she tells me about it is absolutely tragic and heartbreaking, in fact I found out about this in my own before my mom ever said anything about it. I had to ask her about it to get her to talk about it, she was 8 years old
Jones Town drank Flavour Aid but think the world has always said Kool Aid. Probably hurt sales quite a bit
as an elder millennial, born in 85, i’m still to this day a huge kool aid fan. this was great! i don’t know all these amazing facts! thank you, really enjoyed this edit: tropical punch still my fave lol
so what did you have non acid ?
Remember it test for non acid reflux as well
I have always loved the Canteen! Been going there for 50 years. As a kid it was a special day if we got to eat at the Canteen.
Interesting, never new it was from Nebraska, or, the backstory. Good job.
Very fun!
35:40 I went to park a few times in the 90s and I swear The Bug House had a bug theme back then.
Owned and operated by the family of Radar O’Reiley.
I live 25 miles away, so each visit in a special occasion. Because it is a “given” that you are there for the Canteen sandwich, order by toppings only. My standard order is “ketchup mustard only, Sterzings, and vanilla malt”. When a second sandwich is needed, say “reorder, please”.
Lived here most my life. Fuck this town
You talk way too much! Shut up and show the food.
Absolutely Joe's is good. However, it's not the best in the US much less KC. I'll put Arthur Bryant's up against any other BBQ place in town.
Looked like a classic spot hole in wall
Thats Wild man!! Cool video dude
Allāhu Akbar concerning every gravitational pull ever exerted! :D
These are awesome. Been there. Need to add to your travels- the Miles Inn….Sioux City. KB
He turns a 5 min video into a 15 min video by just repeating himself over and over. Genius.
I believe the initial designs were made in 1927 then they started building it in 1928. Completion was early 1930. Currently on my 28th season working there and almost 20 years as the coaster operator.
Fantastic, that makes sense! Best of luck with the flooding going on there, I hope the amusement park is alright.
@@GetmeouttahereErik We lucked out quite a bit. The water levels have made it so we can’t send the Queen out but she survived the storm as she always does. Our team did an amazing job getting the place cleaned up and ready to go. A couple tidbits from your video; the tunnel was rebuilt and placed behind the Midway Games building, the mirror maze had to be removed when they refurbished the lift hill for the Legend since it was built into the mirror maze itself. Plans to rebuild it are active but no given date or location as of yet. And I believe we got the current Ferris Wheel in 1999 because we ended up calling it the Century Wheel initially (because of 2000 being right around the corner) but I could be wrong. I think I was still in Games at that point. And if I recall we might be the ONLY park with an active Rock-O and Roll-O-Plane. Great timing on the “spill” for the Round-Up. It’s been one of our top “spill” rides since getting it, barely behind the Tilt-A-Hurl. I wish I knew the full history behind the Bug House but I know it was still around in the 50’s or 60’s at least. We have a couple very old photos at the AP Museum and the outer housing was definitely bigger than the current one. You’ll have to swing by the AP Museum next time you roll in. A lot of changes throughout the entire park since this video even.
thereare so man better bbq places in kc. its not bad but people go crazy for it but there are many great places in town. i rate it as ok.
Joes? What’s better? I’d say the tops are Joes, Bryant’s, Gates, Q39, Stack, and what else? Regardless, joes is tops.
@@nickscherrer1735 joes has good burnt ends. service was always terrible when i tried it. Beans? Zarda. Fries and Ribs? Rosedale. Also burnt ends and chicken? Woodyards. Also good all around? Wyandotte. None of those leave me standing in a line in the heat in KCK for hours either. KC has a varied bbq background with big differences in KCMO and KCK styles. Everyone wants to cheer Joes like they are somehow heads and shoulders above everyone, i’d say competent at worse. pretty good at best.
What’s up with that haircut??
Bro...no hate here...time to shave that dome. Coming from a bald guy, you will look better my fellow balding brotha.
I believe that was Roseanne Arnold's restaurant
i like you announcer but you talk way to much1!!
I died inside when I saw the ketchup on there.
Its actually not that expensive, per California prices.
Your amazement is sooooo funny!😂
No ticks too hot in desert! Mts yes you bet lots of ticks!
Those horses are protected! Don’t mess with them!😊
You’ll still burn, dude, despite sunscreen!
Look at that beautiful desert behind you! Sa-huar-o. Roll the R, dude!
I grew up in NE. IA next door neighbor. This is not the Wild West. Try over 100 yrs ago for that!😊
The river is controlled by a dam. Did you know that???😊
🤣🤣🤣did you lose that cooler???😂😂😂
