I would agree this would be the best laptop on the market, but I find the fact that there is only USB-C ports really annoying. I record videos with Elgato, and that uses a USB connector, along with a mic that is also a usb only. Oh well, I've got a few USB-C to USB dongles. Simple fix.
Damn, I might trade in my 2018 15inch for that new keyboard alone. I cannot type on this 15th to save my life. It took me 3 hours to type this.

Good review. This is sold as hell and no price hike - amazing. 6 core, 512gb, 16gb ram, 5300m, reliable keyboard, amazing audio, great mic, better battery, better thermals, 16 inch display. Impressive. Seems like a perfect laptop - and im already pretty satisfied with my 256gb base model 13 inch, despite it's "low power".
The only problem is the price. $2300 is a lot of money and you can get very similar performance for $1500. But you pay for the amazing build quality, thinness and the details (like the microphone)

Wish they would do it with the 13" model. Should be able to make it a 14" model.

The flagship MacBook Pro was just updated earlier this year and now a second refresh in the same year! I am sure there are many people pissed about it. I am still pissed about them dropping the AirPods Pro. My AirPods 2 is collecting dust because I have no use for it now.

What people want is MacBook Pro powered by A series processor and Face ID. They should hurry up and drop Intel and AMD, or buy them out entirely.
everyone got so used to calling the old model the 15 inch model that it's been lost that the screen was actually 15.4 inches, this 16.0 inch screen isn't even 4% bigger than the old macbook pro.
It's more than 7% larger in area.

The year of 8. 8 Core Processor, 8TB storage, 8x8GB of RAM, 8GB Graphics memory....just wonder why it doesn't have at least an 8MP webcam and Face ID.
Also no WiFi 6 lol which I would say is more important then the webcam or Face ID

For an older user the bigger the screen the better. I still use my 2010 17" and that size is generous and gargantuan for a laptop.
I always buy flagship models, except for Macs. No way I am spending over 3,000 dollars on a device the gets updated once a year. What I do is buy the base model MacBook Pro for 1,000 dollars and then upgrade once yearly.
Finally! I hope they learned a lesson from their mistake. The existence of this product means yes, they did.

Usually I am not so picky, but the battery (energy) capacity is 100 watt *hours* and the charger has a *power output* of 96 watts. Otherwise thanks for the quick impressions. Looking forward to the full review!
Apple truly nailed the pricing of these new MacBook pros. People were anticipating the prices to be be in late 2000’s somewhere between 2800-3000 but starting at the same price point and offering double the base capacity, reliable keyboard, better speakers and even a greater graphical computation is a really sweet deal.

While it is a major improvement over the old 15" model, Apple missed on one thing: no WiFi 6 (802.11ax) support. If Apple can put in WiFi 6 support on the new iPhone 11 models, they could have easily put in WiFi 6 support on the new MacBook Pro.
I prefer the bigger battery and thermal cooling over a SD card slot and I bounce 20+ times a week. Have to save space for those performance bumps

I'm just looking forward to the 14". I've been wanting a 14" ever since going from my garbage 14" Dell to a 13" Macbook 11 years ago- which I still use daily believe it or not. It seems this update, with the slightly body and different cooling system, leads me to believe we won't be getting a full refresh model cycle next year.. maybe the following year? Makes little sense to put in new changes like the screen, body size, cooling, etc if they're only going to use it for one year.
IJustine has the fully specced out 8TB ssd model, though she does a LOT of on the go video editing so needs the extra space.
My 13” MBP from mid2010 is also 4.3 pounds heavy. Unbelievable what apple is building nowadays.

Why didn't Apple release the 14" to replace the 13"? If I purchase the 16", and next year, the 14" gets released, I don't want to regret purchasing the 16". Now, I need to wait 6 more months to make a comparison.
You guys need to stop using the "debris get caught under the key" as the reason for it is failure. While it was the reason why Apple thought it was the problem, it WAS NOT the problem. The problem for sticky key was the dome cap giving out. That is why on the latest generation of the butterfly keyboard, they changed the chemistry of the dome cap; iFixit and Cal Poly have identified it.
2 years with my MacBook Pro butterfly keyboard and no complaints whatsoever. I love it very much and it is a mistake for them to return to the old scissor switch keys.

Why do all these reviews spend so much time talking about the same thing? Specs, they mention specs, specs and more specs. I can read all the specs on Apple's website. I wish these reviewers would actually talk about the unit they're reviewing and not so much on specs. Geez........

the escape key coming back is a huge deal for me. Tapping repeatedly at a piece of nothing to try to get escape is just horrible UX, and coming from Apple that means something. The arrow keys being a different shape means I can actually feel for them instead of having to find them by looking down at the keyboard. I love these changes to the keyboard. Please also get rid of the touch bar. It's easier to just press on keys. It's a gimmick and no one is developing anything useful for it. No one wants to look down at a keyboard to use it. We look up at a screen. The touchbar is bad UX. Also, the touchpad at this point is just too big. I don't know if Apple planned on having it act like a wacom tablet at some point, but for normal use it's just rediculously sized at this point. I could do gestures just fine with the size as it was on the 2015 Macbook. I don't need half the palmrest to be a touchpad just so software can constantly fail to reject my palm on it so that the mouse randomly flys around. Designers are suppose to think about the way people use a product, not just how pretty it looks and how it will be marketable to the public. At one point Apple was great at user experience, not just marketing,

Still got those sharp edge, very irritating on the wrists to rest on. Feels Like a stop gap measure (be that the fastest one they have ever released) before they do a complete redesign for the APPLE ARM based processor.

Yes, thank you for mentioning the missing SD slot. If they could have reverted to a 2015-type keyboard then why not bring the SD slot back too?
So you buy their pricey card reader. Although when travelling I plug my Panasonic G80 camera directly in using a cable. At desk I have a superb Caldigit TB3 dock that has a front mounted SD Card reader.

I really don't know anyone using SD card readers its insane people keep sayin that.
Well with high end laptops like this there's a case for it as photographers and videographers are a big part of the target market. But seriously, is it that much of a hassle to plug in a dongle? An SD card reader takes away from battery/thermal management space. I know what I'd prefer.
My guess about apples future product line: they will sell a 14" macbook air and pro instead of the 13" and add a macbook air 12" (they had some years ago also a 11" macbook air, thats why i guess they will put a 12" macbook air soon)
And Safari is STILL not capable of handling 4k or 1440p video content. It's 2019 and I still can't watch a 4k TH-cam video using Safari.
The butterfly keyboard is still better than XPS's which literally hurt my finger.
Too bad, I could only lift 4 lbs, but I cannot lift 4.3 lbs. Seriously, do we care about extra .3 lbs? You'll build some little muscle to carry the extra wait.

Steve Jobs was sick and dying, and wasn’t thinking straight to put Cooky in-charge to begin with. Perhaps now Cooky has been relegated to a figure-head which is a likeness to the Pope. Amazing how two completely unrelated tragic issues are so parallel under closer examination. Perhaps the DNA of Steve Jobs has returned. The New Mac Pro 16 looks awesome, although too much $$$ for most, but a new hope for future cost effective Mac Laptops.
James Collins Cooky... buhahaha 😂. Walter Isaacson mentioned in an interview that SJ said TIM is more of a operations guy than a product guy. When you say more cost-effective MacBooks do you mean that the 16” hopefully set a precedent with the least costly build being $2399?

or that they have all had a very limited time to produce these videos given that they were likely only introduced to the macbooks themselves yesterday, and are all obviously going to talk about any 'new' or different features compared to the last model. Given that there are only a handful of changes that have been made, it would be weird if they didnt all dicsuss the same things

Because there aren’t (many) 16” laptops on the market that are almost as big/small as a 15” one? Not to mention the quality of the panel (aside from OLED ones)

you will never buy one then, they always leave something out, but the majority of the issue was the keyboard and they went back to the one that has always work, plus you get the biggest battery that you can get to travel according to FAA regulations!

Always do a little research before buying anything, especially valuable stuff like a new car, flagship computers etc. Rumors and unofficial news about MBP 16 had appeared on media months ago. Another Viet girl said she just bought a new MBP15 on another channel. I must say you guys rich idiots are just plain stupid.

@@daicasg Not really his fault man. i9 MacBook Pros were released relatively recently. 16 inch was being talked about but release date wasn't at all clear.
@@Archivist42 his only concern or regret is the keyboard mechanism (as he prefers scissor over butterfly), not the CPUs. I assume he doesn't care or even know about i7 or i9 cores. Of course we didn't know the exact release date, but at least i knew for sure the MBP16 would be released by the end of October or before Thanksgiving 2019.

Apple offloads MBP 15 to students until mid-October for a small 10% discount then only 1 month later releases a much better replacement for the same price ..

It´s a disaster for pro users. No Cudas and GTX 1060-like GPU-power. I´ve used macs since 1994 and I´m no transitioning to Razer/Win and I HATE it. Apple has really let content creators that need GPU acceleration down.

I just cancelled my Friday's order of an 15in MBP for a 16in MBP. I had been waiting for year for Apple to bring back something to replace my 17in MBP. It really died on Friday and I was cursing at Apple for not having released the 16in. They were really helpful in accepting to cancel my order and put it a new order. Overall, more computer for the same price!

She slightly annoys me with her statement, "Apple would have you believe...". I get it, you don't like or trust Apple but the truth is that they make outstanding hardware and are kind of the gold standard from a design perspective. I myself will probably upgrade from my 2017 model.

More like 1060. It is REALLY mediocre. This mac should have rivaled the RTX 2080-maxQ for that price. I´m going for the Razer Blade 17" with 4K. And I´ve used macs since 1994 and HATE windows. I blame Apple for this. This is what happens when the mac sales is responsible for 9% of the total yearly earnings. The rest is iphone, ipads and services.
