We bought a 15" a couple weeks before the 16" was announced and thankfully Apple let us return it and buy the 16" model. HUGE improvements!

Ordered a 15 inch 2019 2 days before the announcement, when the 16 inch got announced I drove like I was in a Fast & Furious movie to the apple store and luckily got the order changed without hassle

@A random Human being Innovation is pretty dead nowadays for mobile phones and laptops, it's just improvements at this point and nice to see that's what Apple is now focused on.
2019 is the year we see why Jony Ive left Apple. He was prioritising form over functionality. But now, glad to see Apple fixing their issues.

There's no way Jony Ive didn't have a hand in the 16" MBP considering he's only left relatively recently. This may have been the cause of a disagreement that pushed him to leave though.

I'd love to see a 14 inch pro with a GPU, new keyboard, & the same speakers & microphones
The keyboard is coming to the 13/14". But I really want to see a reduce in bezels...like really Apple. A dgpu is certainly interesting, though I'm not expecting it.
With a better HD camera too no?

Rumor is Apple will not just upgrade the keyboard for 13”-14” MBP in 2020. Will probably upgrade lo MBP in 2021-2022 with 2018 Ice Lake Intel mobile CPU!

Thanks to the Verge team for such a good review video. I especially appreciate the binaural sound comparisons. Despite their limited utility, it's simply the best a video can do to simulate the experience of hearing it in person.

@@vishalbharadwaj570 True, but people would've been in a rage over them switching over to USB-C even if this was the MBP that was released a few years ago. Now tho everyone's used to the current layout so a lot of the bad mojo they had from before has dissipated.

A 13/14-inch variant of this would be what I was looking for. I'm still running my old 2011 MBP (I did throw in some extra RAM in there which has helped it somewhat) and, besides the touchbar, this seems to be the closest successor to that age of MBP I've seen in a while.
I would like to say that I love the Touch Bar, the contextual shortcuts are awesome!

Quick question would u say it’s to big for travel. I’m a student I feel like the 13” is to small but I’m sacred the 16” might be to big.

The Touch Bar is a great feature for the MacBook Pro!
Love the commitment to properly demoing the audio. But, the intro to the binaural section creeped me out.

Well, darn! I purchased the 15" at the end of last year because my my 13" 2010 MacBook Pro could not keep up with my photo processing. Fortunately, I've had no complaints about the 15", and here's hoping!

Lol sorry to hear that. I also have my mid-2012, still in perfect condition. Replaced the battery last year and gambled on waiting another year. Not sure if that makes you feel better ;)

I probably will wait for the 14” mbp hopefully sometime next year to upgrade.
@@tanmayjeevan I replaced the battery on my mid-2014 mbp 15" and it's been running smooth ever since. It's definitely something I'd recommend to do if you plan on keeping your mbp for a while.

I love the Touch Bar and it's very useful if you take the time to retrain yourself. Most people don't use most features so I'm not surprised a majority of people aren't motivated to break old habits to learn the usefulness of Touch Bar verses control keys.

I’ve been waiting to upgrade my late 2011 MacBook Pro but I’m hesitating now because of the lack of faceID / better webcam which I’m betting will come next.
I also think a 14” version might be better if they can still put dedicated graphics in it.
Still rocking my 2008 aluminum unibody MacBook because it still works well for what I need it to do. I’ve maxed out the ram and changed the battery a few times though.
So no one talks about the Mid 2019 Macbook even in comparison that I bought just a couple months ago or so.
It's old and busted.

I am new to Apple , but I love the Tool bar” I use it all the time!
I really like the 16" model!!! I am just a bit sad that they didn't manage to keep the old form factor. I mean, the display is just 0.6" bigger and they still had to increase the size of the laptop. So did the bezels even shrink?

Mine just arrived today. So far I am very pleased. The keyboard is worlds better, and what's not to like about additional screen real estate?
After having a 2012 MacBook Air 13" & a 27" IMac Desktop that's been a real pain to use, so slow and the screen brightness had gone in the bottom right hand corner, which can be fixed but isn't easy. So for a great price of 1535 Euros I decided to ditch the IMac and 13" MacBook Air and go for the 16" MacBook Pro now that I'm retired and more static in my movements after Euro travel for 35 years, I was a little sceptical having seen the newer Pro's with the latest M1 processors, however watching this great review (many thanks) I am very pleased with my decision with what my needs now are, big enough as a Desktop and good enough to travel with even if a little heavy!
had mine for a week and pretty stoked...Faster than my 5k iMac that we use to edit 8k RED footage...Slightly faster. but still. Plus whoever the dude is that came up with the bettertouch bar app is my hero.
I’m waiting for 10th gen intel processors which would improve performance and thermals. It will also increase battery life.
I loooove the touch bar. I use it a lot during presentations to quickly skip through slides.
Good honest review - as a non 'pro' user I was hoping for this to be a casual play platform. I guess with good internet it still could be.

That internal mic is actually pretty good! It's still hollow, but better than the other internal mics with which you compare. I'd say it's on par with or better than the in-wire mic from the standard Apple wired headphones. Most people in that use case of public space or VoIP call/video conference use that earbud/mic combo thingie. If you had a small room to yourself, the internal mic would be fine.

Some people are reporting an issue with the 16”MacBook Pro.
The speakers make a “popping” sound when they stop playing audio (watching a TH-cam video or editing in Final Cut Pro).
Any thoughts on this? Have you experienced the same problem?

I've just upgraded from a 2015 13inch Macbook pro to this. I could have easily done with the new 2020 13 inch MBP but I just wanted a bigger computer. I love Macbooks!

I’ve been waiting for this and it came just in time.
Also, there was another obvious thing Apple did: always-on screen on Apple Watch.
The only flub seems to be Apple TV+, everything else has been kinda great

How is it as far as the large track pad? Does it interfere with typing? Also how is heat sync?
The inverted T arrow keys, is a step back. The previous layout was more uniformed and just made sense.
Has "MacOS Catalina Has Major Problems On MacBook Pro" fixed yet due to new Music app instead of iTunes for many dj apps and dj controllers?
I tried the keyboard at the Apple store. It’s an improvement but the thinkpad keyboard is still the best.
Since using it with an external display also charges this MacBook, won't it gradually destroy the battery if you leave it constantly connected to a monitor/setup?
Had a MacBook Pro 15in for about 3 weeks, returned it for a full refund and just got the 16in MacBook Pro. Both were the 8-core model. The keyboard is a definite improvement, the speakers are good (I would say anything about 3/4 volume and there's auto-EQ occurring with the base), my Blue mic is still better, no accidental Escape key tapping, battery seems good so far (3/4 brightness) - today is first day I went to the office without my charger so let's see how well it does (timer's on). Apple goes from "Think Different" to "Do Obvious Things" in 2019. It only makes sense they bring this keyboard tweak to the other MacBook models. I also run Bootcamp, so far so good, and seems to run a tad quieter with the fans. I was having big issues with charging under load on the Windows side - need to re-test that with this model. OK that's my 2 cents!
I have a late 2013 13" Macbook pro with the scissor keys and refused to buy one with butterfly keys so yeah I'm considering getting a new one. I do like the magnetized charger though.
