I think being Sondra likes to cook she mentioned in the video where you guys showed us the full tour of the RV, you guys should show her cooking dinner sometime. I haven't seen that yet. :) BTW... always great video and man David, you are the swesomesauce of backing in to spots! You da' man. And Sondra, you da' gal at navigating!!
I saw something really neat that uguys might think about. When u unhook your airline take a dummy one and hook it up and that keeps critters from getting in and plugging up your airlines. Put the dummy ones on both sides of the system. So going down the road and u see sign that says 12.6 do u let the air out of your seat? Lol
Boy what a way to start a trip out, but you got to watch the the College Championship game. Hail to the Victors, Go Blue. Got our picture taken tonight with the trophy, at all places, the Walmart in Canton Mich.
4k for service on the Volvo seems reasonable to me. What I hear that service on the big trucks can get expensive. 150k miles is almost a new truck. Like your videos.
Thanks, Greg. Just broken in at 150K...we think with the modifications we've made that probably a few items got "out of spec" and thus the need for us to "clean it up" since it wasn't clear from whom it may have been created. The truck has been great for 8 years so no complaints. Big check to write at one time...gulp!
I’m glad that you all made it thru the storms, round 1 and hope that round 2 didn’t hit you too hard either. The two of you are always entertaining and a joy to watch. I love Thursday afternoons because of that. Continued safe travels. Thanks for taking the time to document your travels/adventures. Until next week …
Hi Christy, glad you enjoyed it. No rain just a LOT of wind. It's a good thing our trailer is so heavy..it's pretty stable in the wind. Thanks for watching the channel.
Yall must have left just right around the time we did. It was. Ice meeting you today! Small world for sure! We've spent a lot of time in the Huntsville area. Oh man! It's unfortunate yall thought yall were going to hook up & have power to not have any.
It was great meeting you guys today! It was a good thing we have a good battery system to get us through the night... but it was still a nail biter! See you around!
Sondra is usually behind the camera so sometimes we don't show things like her driving. She normally takes a shift after lunch on our travel days. She enjoys it.
What cute grandbabies you have, I'm sure they love visits from you! Well now you're back on the road and I'm looking forward to what's next. I wish you safe travels and happy adventures!
Hi guys. If Sondra had only stacked up on a whole lot of beer this could have been a Smokey and the Bandit episode. You are almost driving the same route. Nice long clip made me drift away from daily routine.
Hey Hans....that would have been hilarious for a "re-run" of that movie...we did take a similar route but didn't get up into Oklahoma. Glad you enjoyed it...hope we didn't get you out of your groove.
Just like any good truck driver with I've been for 35 years always do a tug test they don't teach that anymore to new drivers I love yall. I've watched every video y'all have put out and look forward to each video y'all put out stay safe and have a great time
Thanks for sharing and it's a shame about the new drivers. That is such an important safety procedure along with the GOAL too! Appreciate your time watching the channel and excited to have you along on the journey.
Well, I just love you retirees are in travel mode! My wife never wants to leave our three sons and 4 grandkids in NE Ohio! We are always hoping to seeing our grandkids more often! I also have two more adult grandkids from my youngsted sons marriage! Well I never see them anymore, but I always think of them as they are now in adulthood!
@@davidoverholt251 Solution: Starting with the oldest, bring one grandkid along with you on your travels. They will treasure their monies with you, and excel in geography and history and science and msth classes because you will include historical and agricultural and civic sites and zoos and museums and national and state and local parks for their education, although they will think of it as fun.
@@davidoverholt251 My kids have been to 35 states with me of the 46 I've traveled to. Nearly every national park in those states, museums, including the Smithsonian and NASAs, and embasseys and government buildings etc. Theyve been to more places than their teachers who couldnt understand hoe tgey knew Geography and state capitals and state crops, and terrain, and weather, and kinds of animals featured on the zoos and aquariums, and the airplsnes and spscecraft hanging from tge ceiling of the Smithsonian, etc.
I saw yall on I55 and i would have been blowing the horn on side of ya had i been in the north bound lane. I was headed south but it was cool seeing yall pass!
Sondra likes driving the big rig. Normally, I drive in the morning then she takes a "shift" after lunch then I'll finish up for the final leg as well as parking. Thanks for the comment and watching the channel.
Kudos to symphonies & massages on the road!! The winter activities looked so fun with family. Hard to say goodbye to the grands! Oh dear Sandra don’t let those “grandpa” jokes wear off on u 😅 Must say u guys r a great team backing in and giving directions. My hubby/I have zero communication just hand signals. One year, the campers already parked around us watched us back in, and said “you guys are boring”. They wanted to be entertained by a fight. Be safe 🇨🇦 ❤
Thanks 👍Brendan. Hope your new year down under is going well...and that your week is better than last week! Say "hi" to the family. We're excited about our 2024 tour plans. See you next week.
Still bing watching on you videos happy people, stress does not cause you to lose it. BRAVO GUYS . Half the battle is remaining positive well done. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
I love this couple, so much energy. With that said it's time to hit the road. We had a nice trip to Alaska. And I told you I wasn't going to unpack. So, lets hit the road. I see the Mrs handling that rig. Cool. Safe travels guys and as always thanks for letting us hang out. Sandra reminds me of my wife, it could be 100° and she'll have a jacket on. 😂
🤣😂😎 Sondra always has a jacket on! It's pretty funny actually. You'd never know what she's wearing underneath! Definitely don't unpack! We're hitting the road to get out west. Enjoy 2024 with us.
Darling Grandbabies, but at that age wear you OUT! We’d get ours put to bed, and we went to bed at 8:30 so we could do another day. The joy now is having them in college and laughing and having fun together! But when they are under 5, God save me. And we were older too! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Be glad you’re not in Ohio 60-65 mph wind, rain, snow, sleet, freezing rain bees hives are fine, cows are high and dry,but the chickens were swimming for a while till we fixed that issue just waiting for the sub zero temps now🤷♂️ stay safe
We're very glad that we're not in Ohio, Tim. That's crazy about the chickens swimming! Hope everything is OK. That's a cold weather system! Thanks for watching.
Im glad i still have another year or two of extended warranty although mopar service is not very good. $4k is not bad for eight years of service. That's a very good truck. At the prices being charged for pickups That's not a bad way to go. Happy new years trails. Lot's of love from Miami ❤
That's good on your warranty. We loved visiting Miami and the South Beach area. Neat architecture. Not pleasant to pay the bill but not bad for 8 years. Thanks for watching the channel. 😁
Great Vlog as usual! Looking forward to your Route 66 trip. Drove it while serving in the USN in the 70's. A future Rt. 66 trip, Chicago to California is part of my bucket list🤞. Safe travels!
Hey travelers. Glad y’all are doing well and getting going again. Also enjoyed seeing your stop in Mt Pleasant. We just moved back to Florida from there in November. It’s a great place to live, or visit. Y’all stay safe, have fun going to the desert
Another fun vlog. Hate your repair bill was so high but part of your rv living. Awesome to see Sondra drive the big rig. God bless your travels in 2024. Greetings from GA
Thanks, Karen. Sondra normally drives after lunch. The repair bill was no fun but it was the first one so we're thankful for that. Aloha from....where are we?!? 😂🤣Appreciate your comments.
Glad it was helpful, Jeanne! Thanks for watching the channel. We think the intro helps to explain a few things such as the names of our vehicles. Excited to have you along on the journey.
That loves on highway 72. I go to that a lot. I run back and forth through there on my way from Cherokee Alabama to the Georgia area in Florida in North Carolina. I drive the southern route most of the time. I am a female solo truck driver.
Hey, Jessica. That Love's seems pretty new. It was super convenient for us. Stay safe on the road and appreciate what you do to keep our country running. Thanks for watching.
Ha Ha, loved the Mrs. Kravitz reference!! Looks like parts of Texas could get quite cold for a few days early next week. We've been hearing that the cold front that is currently in Canada is predicted to move as far south as Texas. Stay safe!
Glad you got everything figured out, Back to camping. I was so impressed to see Sandra driving, and doing a great job at that. I don’t remember her driving Curosity though Good Show
Thanks, Dennis. She drove very little in Alaska because she was on the lookout for wildlife shots with the camera. I'm not as good as she is with shooting wildlife so her camera was always at the ready! Lol 😆 She enjoys driving the truck.
@lindarobb3868 😆 8+ years on the road, "experience" is a great teacher. We still have some challenges but they are usually small and infrequent. We try to make sure life goes smoothly. 😊 Thanks for watching.
I'm glad to see you guys back on the road, i was starting to have withdrawal s, it's been to long since your last videos, I'm along for this whole trip, be safe!😎
Thanks. It's good to be back in our Big Rig set up and home. It was a long AK trip in the motorhome but lots of fun. 2024 will be a blast so pack up because we're hitting the road!
Everytime I see Micky and Minnie sitting behind you in your truck it reminds me of the time we took our daughter's to Disneyworld Florida for the very first time when they were 7 & 9 yrs old They are 45 & 47 now Gosh that was a long time ago We allowed the girls to have the largest size Micky and Minnie at that time but when we got to the airport to go home we were told that Micky and Minnie couldn't travel in the cabin with us and had to go into the hold My youngest daughter was so upset that Minnie had to travel separately I don't think the crew could believe the amount of tears shed 😂 but what a great 4wk holiday we had in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale The girls still have their Mickey and Minnie to this day Keep up the great videos I'm still catching up on your adventures and I'm not bored yet 😄 Take care guys 🇬🇧
Great memories! We used to go to Disney World and camp at Fort Wilderness almost every year after our daughter was 10. We waited all she could keep up with us and ride all the rides! Good times. Glad you're enjoying the channel. Thanks for watching.
Happy dancing here. Happy to see you again and thanks for having me along so i can sit in my arm chair and enjoy your travels. So blessed by your videos ... Smiles =)
Being a born and raised Texan - glad to see someone as passionate about Whataburger as myself - been a fan over 50 years and my wife has the same response as yours - lol, bad for you food never tasted so good! Safe travels y’all
Happy New Year Travels Enjoyed seeing you with the grandkids Texas and New Mexico always seem to have high winds when traveling through some times Be safe and have fun Enjoy all your videos
Thank you, Debra. Always fun to spend time with family. That area does seem to have high winds fairly frequently. Appreciate your comments and your time watching the channel. We'll keep it between the ditches!
Hope you could still finish watching the National Championship game during the outage - Go Blue, since I am from Michigan! Nice to be on the road again and make memories. Our trip starts April 1st from MI to OH to WV to NC to KY primarily hiking with our dogs. Save travels!
The “It’s Texas it might be a Whataburger” had me rolling I know in Lancaster Tx the Walmart off of I35E and Pleasent Run rd has a whataburger in the parking lot. In fact the drive way by the whataburger s the one that “big trucks/busses” should use. The one down by the fuel station I’ve seen drivers get stuck
The reason for the ground shaking when trains pass, is you are located in the New Madrid earthquake fault zone, which is composed of silt from the Mississippi River over the eons. New Madrid is just north of you on I-55 near the Missouri / Arkansas border.
@@bigtruckbigtravels They had a major quake there which was felt as far away as Boston MA and Charleston SC. They predict the next one will drop all bridges across the Mississippi from Davenport IA to Memphis TN, and East to Nashville and Louisville, and west to Little Rock. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Madrid_seismic_zone
Hey Guys, great to see you on the road again. Freezing weather in the metroplex and no power--been there done that on a business trip ... it's no fun. Glad you have your own power options. Looking forward to seeing you in warmer weather!
Hey Pete, we're excited to see warmer temps as well! Those storms were bad but we were very fortunate to have our own power options. Some who live in stick & brick aren't so lucky. Thanks
AH….HA❣️❣️. I have figured out what I love to follow you! David reminds me soooo much of my Dad: Corny jokes, his out look on life, his handyman talents. My parent traveled full time from 1980 to 1995 in their retirement in a 27 foot Airstream. Crisscrossing the USA. No wonder I sit with an immense smile on my face. THANKS FOR THE MEMORY❣️❣️
I'm in good company then. So glad you're enjoying the journey with us and love the fact that it puts a smile on your face and a warm glow in your heart. You've made my day. Thank you.
Thanks for the video nice to see blue sky weather still bad here Birmingham England waiting for warmer weather than we are going to Wales and Devon for 2weeks keep safe u2 😂🎉
Central Ave in Albuquerque is part of the original route 66 as well as the main street in Williams Arizona. There is a nice RV park in Williams Grand Canyon Railway RV Park that is walking distance to downtown Williams. Also don't forget to be Standing on a Corner in Winslow Arizona...@@bigtruckbigtravels
I'm a truck driver and when I retire since my wife will never attempt to drive a big truck with a spacecraft trailer.... I think my HDT truck will have a regular manual transmission. For the last 3 years my trucking company only buys trucks with the automatic transmission and I really miss the manual transmission.
We really like the convenience of the automatic manual i-Shift tranny. In traffic, it saves the left leg! Understand completely about the desire for manual. We had a Mazda with a 5 speed and loved it.
Thought it was funny you threw a shaka at whataburger - then when you pulled into your camp and said your last name is Kahanamoku , I understood :D. Kauai girl living in Dallas now . Enjoying your vlogs!
I watched this video on 1/11/24. We left the Loves Truck stop this morning at 10AM that you pulled into in Muscle Shoals AL after leaving your daughter’s house. The RVStop you mentioned at the truck stop is really nice. We stayed there 4 nights. They have 36 sites all FHU concrete sites. Not sure how long you are but our 41’ Motorhome and Jeep Cherokee fits on the concrete pad with about 3-4’ to spare on the pull through sites. No noise from the truck stop at our site (13) but did hear some road noise. Enjoy your videos.
😯😎 Small world. It's good to know that you had a good experience. Nice that Love's is starting to add RV spots to their truck stops. Thanks for watching.
New subscriber, and I find you do a nice job of editing on your video's. I very much like the banter within the cab, letting us all know what's going on and such, and I've now heard a couple times your 'Alaska Adventure' of which I've not seen yet, so I'll have to look for that when time allows! We've been up to Inuvik once along the Dempster highway, but that was in our old Chevy pickup, with nothing more than a 'camperette' on the back, with a bed and 2' X 2' counter to work on, back when we where in our twenties, and had much more energy than today. Caught a lot of fish on some of those streams along the Dempster too, and then spent some remaining weeks making memories in touring Alaska! Have done one trip since, and as always, look forward to another trip up that way some day!
Now that is some adventure travel back then! I'm sure the Dempster has changed a lot but we really enjoyed driving up to Tuk and camping on the shore of the Arctic Ocean. Thanks for watching the channel.
I have been watching you guys for a year or so, since the Alaska trip, and my friend and I want to do this: full time RVIng. We are very interested in all the things we can learn about your “Curiousity”. Can You tell us about this beautiful Class C RV?
We missed you!! We stayed at the Flying J in West Memphis. Those 3 oversized loads you pasted. Fueled up at the Flying J. Dang nab it. Steve and I talked about going to the casino.
Oh man! We leave the truck stops to the drivers since we have many more options than they do! That's a small world for sure. The casino was nice...lots of room.
Great season opener! "Mrs. Kravitz" spied "Darren" outside making a call out. In the midst of all the dad jokes, we had a mom joke sighting (23:12). Whatadinner! That Cheerio bee is mad busy. Food bill
Lots going on for just a travel day or two....Glad you enjoyed it and we'll see you next week. Still on the road and still heading west but you never know what we'll see and experience. Thank you.
As a professional sports photographer who has a 2024 Super Duty and 33' Airstream on order... Everything about this Channel and your rig is just awesome! I am binging on your content while editing hockey photos....
We enjoy watching all of your videos, very well done. We will be in Quartzsite for the first time this year. We are full time RV'rs with a 45' toy hauler that we pull with a class 6 Sportchasis truck. Would love to meet you 2 in person.
Thank you. We've got a meet-up planned for Jan 18 (Thursday) and I posted the coordinates on the Community board which everyone who's subscribed will get notified. Looking forward to it and hope you can come on by and say "hi".
I worked for CP Rail in a couple of different rail yards in the Vancouver area. The most important thing when a train is in the "yard" is that they must know exactly where every single rail car is located. My job was to walk up and down the different rail lines in the yard and write down the name and number of every car and which line it's on. I'd do 2 different lines at the same time. On average, I think I probably walked at least 5 or 6 miles every single day. Most of the time I loved it because I was outside in the fresh air, seeing the sights and getting paid to do it. That was around the time that the very first "Sony Walkman" came out, so I was well prepared for my work. Of course, Vancouver and winter means drizzle and lots of it, i'd have to go out with a plastic poncho on while being careful not to get the page I was writing on totally soaked. It was pretty miserable. Oh, I forgot to mention all this was done on graveyard shift. Good times.
Hi hi. You guys panic over a 4k invoice?? Always remember that our crap country's exchange rate is currently 18.5 to the $, and don't imagine that we earn good money to compensate. So that bill in sunny South Africa is like 75k!!! I wouldn't need a laxative for a month after receiving that repair bill. And your power outage at the end.... We have 3 x 2hour outages every day (sometimes 3 x 4hours). Our amazing govt forgot to upgrade the power stations since they took over in 1994, so we dine by candlelight most days😂. Good to see you guys are moving around again. Keep well. Safe travels.
Wow, Glen, that sure puts things into perspective. We get used to a certain standard in the US so everything we expect is based on that standard. You are correct in that others around the world are not as fortunate as we are so we should be more appreciative of what we have here in America. Thank you for sharing. That is amazing.
Hey Brad, thanks for the comment and appreciate your time watching the channel. We buckled down for the second shift of storms...we weren't crazy about losing power. We had it lucky. Others lost it for longer so we're fortunate.
Great videos. I live in the UK .we have daf trucks with the paccar engines in. To have the same work carried out in uk on a volvo would been a lot more with the cost of parts .oil. fuel and labour costs . Go steady and enjoy your travels.
I'll bet it's a lot more expensive in the UK. I've heard not so good reviews on the Paccar engines in the US so hope you have better luck with them over the pond. Thank you and let's keep it between the ditches.
😁😊😂🤣 Living life as I see it, Linda...and trying to make others smile. We enjoy traveling and being back in the big rig. Thanks for watching and appreciate your comment.
My FIL is an over the road truck driver. Your repair bill seems to be on the lower end of what he sees regularly. Those trucks are expensive to repair and diagnose. Happy you guys are back on the road.
Thanks, Vince. We're excited that it was the first time for such a repair bill in over 8 years. They can be expensive but then everything seems expensive nowadays! Good to be back and glad you're along.
LOL...then you need to watch the first 35 minutes! I don't want to deprive you of the personal experience of seeing us in the first 35 mins. My description in this comment would not be adequate or do it justice. 🤔😁😊🤣😂
There's definitely a downside to a dealer and that's cost... but we use Volvo service because we hope they will be the most knowledgeable... 😆 doesn't always work out but that's our thought. Appreciate your comments and your time watching the channel. We're just glad to be back on the road.
Did I see the trailer jacks up when you did the pull test. I used to retract them so they were about a couple inches off the ground, that way if it came loose on the pull test the trailer doesn’t drop on the truck.
Good observation, Barry. They were retracted but the pads were still on the ground. Our hitch is fairly deep and wide so if it did come loose then our nose would ride on the end of the 5th wheel plate. It's a good idea to leave the jacks down a little instead of fully retracted. I may change this in the future. Thanks
Thanks, Nancy. Sondra likes to drive the rig. I usually do the mornings and when we park and she takes a "shift" after lunch. Good to be back. Glad you're along on the journey.
and for that very reason we chose a CLASS A , all the hookin and un hookin not 4 us u guys are awsome but man when i godda go i godda go cant do the hour long hook up an tear down thing. i mean to gather up everything pull the car up about ahhh 45 min maybe or more . nooo way lol
😆 🤣 Thanks. It's definitely a "lifestyle" choice! Since it's our home we have no other place or lot, it just felt more like a home than a Class A. But that was a hard decision because the Class A's are definitely easier to travel.
and u are so right we thought about a nice fith wheel aswell because they have alot of space and nice inside but when u weigh out the pros and cons when you are parked and everythings done yayyy now u can relax and enjoy but when u godda go u dread the tear down omg lol almost like pullin teeth . but we are also huge on boondocking and we will do it anywhere from walmart to cracker barrel anywhere. never cared much for rv parks or resorts they are filled with busy bodies lol remember mrs kravitz on the show bewitch lol that nosey neighbor lol ohhh man any who.. we to are headed to quart site arizona soon in a few months. happy travels
that's ok on dumping the air bags that's what all trucks do that have that ability, as you try this out you will see how well this works, 1 other thing I always put 3/4 inch plywood about 15" square under the landing gear legs so as to spread the load of the trailer cuz sometimes you drop it & may 1 leg sinks into the soil then it's hard to get the trailer hooked up I even do it on any surface just 2 be safe
I think solar farms are a waste of massive amounts of land with as inefficient as solar panels are. There are much better methods of energy production that require less land use.
Solar is definitely an inefficient means of power production but they are relatively low maintenance and are usually placed in areas that are not very populous...it's an interesting dilemma. Similar to wind turbines as well.
What was wrong with your truck??. Glad to see you on the way, look forward to seeing you on the road. You a lucky to have some room at your daughters place to park up. I see you have got a burger an a drink. CHEERS NZ
Just a tip , if you are not doing this it might wise for you to look into this, lock up the drive axels when entering & leaving driveways & uneven approaches & leaving paved roads onto dirt road’s until you get back to pavement. This because you have a good chance to break a axel on uneven ground & if you break an axel you are not going anywhere 1 more tip when going up steep grades before you ascend the grade engage the axel locker until you reach the top of the grade then disengage the axel locker, this way you will have better control of the vehicle & tire where, as you probably know that the front axel in a tandem group is the driving axel, thx for all the videos, have fun as you always do, remember rubber side down & and shining side up😅
thx for the reply, if you need any other help feel free to contact me, I have been skinn tricks for 60 years 😅 & owned a trucking firm for over half of that + there are a few more tricks to get more fuel mileage, I have a ?, is the trailer equipped with air ride suspension, watching the videos I couldn't tell one way or the other.
@@bigtruckbigtravels if I have you on over load let me know, also does the truck have a dump valve for the air suspension on the truck?, if so this is the proper way to drop the or any other connected to the 5th wheel plate, 1st after stopping the rig set the trailer brakes then back the truck up until there is resistance at that point keep your foot on the brake pedal if this an automatic trans you may need to use your left foot on the brake pedal to complete this task now set the tractor protection brake (yellow) lol now go to the trailer run down the landing gear to the point where a little air from the tractor, now disconnect thr air lines & 7 way plug, now go to the 5th wheel release handle & pull it now that's done go back to the truck set your left foot on the brake pedal ( if manual then in gage the clutch to the friction point) now with either done release the yellow brake knob still holding the brakes once the tractor protection valve has released then move forward about a foot or so then stop with your foot still on the brake pedal lower the truck with the air deflation valve once the truck drops the pull out & air up if need be, reasoning for this 1 it takes the load off the landing gear, next part is important now to hook up drop air in the truck air bags then backup to the trailer place the 5th wheel at least 3/4 under the trailer now air the bags wait a few seconds until the trailer rests on the 5th wheel now back under until you hear thr king pin ingage into the fifth wheel pull forward then back up & forward to make sure you are hooked up the reason for all this is if you fir some reason you can't get under your trailer in a straight line you can pick up the trailer from 0 to 90°, if you don't do the above you could lose the trailer off the landing (collapsing them what a pickle) note you can get away with it if the trailer is empty, also if you don't hit king pin straight away that's why the 5th wheel has a V in it that being said now you know why it is important take the load off the landing gear, sorry this reads like a novel. try it out
@@ferraritoybox unfortunately, our truck can only dump the air 100%. We can't regulate it to dump a little... it's all our nothing. Though, I do like the basics of this method and may try a variation of it. Thank you!
So I have been watching you, and we took a trip in our class b Airstream. It has been hell. All the things going wrong with it, and to top it off we went to a small mom and pop gas station to get decile gas. Instead we got gas on the fuel tank and we had to go to stares out of the way to get it fixed 2,200 dollars later. I’m done with it. Will sell right now for cost at this point.
Sorry for the issues you've had. Unfortunately, RV manufacturers are cutting corners on quality and you (the consumers) are paying the price and heartache. Bad fuel can happen to anyone. That's very unfortunate. Appreciate you sharing your story. Hope it works out.
Chesters- I've learned to NOT stop at a gas pump where a car is not actively pumping gas and driver is gone. If there is a Chester's inside- that driver is taking 30-45 minutes to get their chicken :)
well that bill is not to bad.that truck is what 10 years old?my dad told me years and years ago anything mechanical can break down at anytime for reasons only the shop will know, i was having nothing but problems with my last hdt is why i bought the new 2024 pete.i do like warrenties now i have 600 hp bigger sleeper and a longer wheelbase. brings me right to 78ft. it is only 5 months old love it to death. this winter while it is shut down i am having both seats recovered with a super nice leather with extra padding and electric back massagers and leg massagers. worth every cent only thing i do not like is that def crap
😎😊😁Had to spice it up a little, John. Not a good combination of losing power during a 50+ mph wind storm in freezing temperatures! Thanks for watching. Hope you're doing well.
Thank you and yes, we plan to present at the West Coat HDT and the National HDT rallies. There is an east coast one which we may hit on our way east. You just never know!
Yes, T watched the video about Curiosity. What I'm asking for is the Name of the Manufacture. Where the dealerships are in Western Washington, if any? Thank you, Drive safe!
I used to own Catipillars when ever I was bringing them home for service the home shook yard was shaking according to spouse uncle felt it 3/4 mile away from home gravel road I drove about 50km to 60km a hr when I turn Jake brake about 1/2 miles away times I had the large braking Disc on the low-boy trailer red flags hanging for safety day time only
I think being Sondra likes to cook she mentioned in the video where you guys showed us the full tour of the RV, you guys should show her cooking dinner sometime. I haven't seen that yet. :) BTW... always great video and man David, you are the swesomesauce of backing in to spots! You da' man. And Sondra, you da' gal at navigating!!
Check out this video. She does some simple cooking. Thank you so much.

Eating with your special person is good enough, any day of the week, but to get to eat a meal outside, with that person is just pure
Yes, you are right, very special indeed....and to cap off the day at Whataburger with that special person is just perfect!
I saw something really neat that uguys might think about. When u unhook your airline take a dummy one and hook it up and that keeps critters from getting in and plugging up your airlines.
In addition to the tug test I recommend sticking your head under the trailer and looking up to make sure that the loch bar has across the pin.
Great idea. I always carry a flashlight to peek up there and spy the jaws.
Is this Sondra’s first time driving - I don’t remember seeing her driving. IMPRESSIVE 🎉
Here too! We didn't remember her driving.
Sondra likes driving the rig and takes a "shift" on most days (except when she's taking pictures of wildlife!).
They are cute, Carol but they know it! 😆 Love being back on the road. Let's discover what's next together.
Just like any good truck driver with I've been for 35 years always do a tug test they don't teach that anymore to new drivers
I love yall. I've watched every video y'all have put out and look forward to each video y'all put out stay safe and have a great time
Thanks for sharing and it's a shame about the new drivers. That is such an important safety procedure along with the GOAL too! Appreciate your time watching the channel and excited to have you along on the journey.
@@bigtruckbigtravelsyes it is still taught to tug test in new drivers. I don't know why he is saying that but it is taught.
We love to travel and see our grands when we're in the neighborhood... but you gotta do what you feel is right and what feels good. Tough decision.
Now, this was a great video😀 it showed every aspect of RV living
I use to live in Shreveport, La and I recognized that semi rest area.
Thank you, Keenan. It's how we roll and try not to sugar coat it but we enjoy travel days.
I saw yall on I55 and i would have been blowing the horn on side of ya had i been in the north bound lane. I was headed south but it was cool seeing yall pass!
Woo-hoo! That's so cool! Next time blow that horn!
Wow Sandra I thought you did not drive the big truck. Good on you 👍😃
Sondra likes driving the big rig.
😆 We get a lot of boring comments when we back in too, Yvonne! 😁 Always an experience on the road which we enjoy. Thanks for watching. Be safe.
Always look forward to Fridays as I get to tag along on your adventures. Looking forward to next week's. Take care guys
Thanks, Kate. We enjoy fulltime RV travel so we feel fortunate to be able to do this... and get ourselves in trouble! 😆 🤣
😆 🤣 you are so correct, Susan. They wear us out at the end of each day... but the fun is wearing them out so they go to bed early! 😆 🤣
Unexpected disruptions and/or suprises make life on the road...just like life at home. Safe travels and enjoy following your journey. 🚗🇺🇸
You are so correct, Judy. It's just life but it's all an experience and usually a good one. Thank you very much for your time watching the channel. 😃
So excited to see where 2024 takes you guys and extremely happy to be along for the ride
Oh yeah! Buckle up because 2024 will be fun...and a criss cross across America. Excited to have you share in the journey.
Thanks, Dan. We're excited about the Rt 66 trip. Should be fun to drive sections of it in our Big Rig!
Hey travelers. Glad y’all are doing well and getting going again. Also enjoyed seeing your stop in Mt Pleasant. We just moved back to Florida from there in November. It’s a great place to live, or visit. Y’all stay safe, have fun going to the desert
Hey, Dave, small world. Nice area to stop. Enjoy Florida. Thank you for watching the channel. 😁
Love watching your travels i am from Brisbane Australia you both have a Beautiful motor home take care on your journey
Thank you, Arthur. Glad you enjoyed it. We'd love to visit Australia... don't think our rig could fit!
Also from Brisbane 😂😂
Love your introduction with names . Very helpful.
Fun to see you go through my neck of the woods!! Enjoy the rest of your trip!
That's great, Cheri. Always cool to see that. Thanks and we're glad to have you along.
Ha Ha, loved the Mrs. Kravitz reference!! Looks like parts of Texas could get quite cold for a few days early next week. We've been hearing that the cold front that is currently in Canada is predicted to move as far south as Texas. Stay safe!
Glad you liked it! We're going to try and keep heading south and west to stay out of this Arctic cold weather blast! Be safe out there!
We are trying to figure out what kind of RV to purchase for our upcoming change of life journey. Y'all make it look so easy!
I’m glad you guys are back on the road! Loved the video!
Thanks, Cathy. It's great to be back on the road in our home.
Everytime I see Micky and Minnie sitting behind you in your truck it reminds me of the time we took our daughter's to Disneyworld Florida for the very first time when they were 7 & 9 yrs old
They are 45 & 47 now
Gosh that was a long time ago
We allowed the girls to have the largest size Micky and Minnie at that time but when we got to the airport to go home we were told that Micky and Minnie couldn't travel in the cabin with us and had to go into the hold
My youngest daughter was so upset that Minnie had to travel separately
I don't think the crew could believe the amount of tears shed 😂 but what a great 4wk holiday we had in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale
The girls still have their Mickey and Minnie to this day
Keep up the great videos
I'm still catching up on your adventures and I'm not bored yet 😄
Take care guys 🇬🇧
Great memories! We used to go to Disney World and camp at Fort Wilderness almost every year after our daughter was 10. We waited all she could keep up with us and ride all the rides! Good times. Glad you're enjoying the channel. Thanks for watching.
Good video guys 😊😊😊😊
Glad you enjoyed it, Barry. Thanks for watching and appreciate your comment.
We're in Quartzsite now. Hope to meet you at La Posa South if you stay there.
We'll be there in a few days. Watch the community post for a time and GPS coordinates. See you there.
Glad to see y’all back on the road! And hoping your stormy night of survival worked out! Thanks for sharing your travels with us!🤗
We're glad too! A few windy days but we missed the Arctic blast! Stay warm...layer up! 🤔😉🤣😅😂😆
Happy dancing here. Happy to see you again and thanks for having me along so i can sit in my arm chair and enjoy your travels. So blessed by your videos ... Smiles =)
Thanks for coming along on the journey. We're excited to get 2024 road trip underway. Let's roll!
I sincerely enjoyed this video guys!!! It was fun and enjoyable watching!!!
👍😃🍻
Glad you enjoyed it, Mike. Thanks for watching the spending time with us. Should be a fun 2024.
Winter has been beautiful this year in the RGV. 70s and 80s most days
Very nice, Mark. Great place to be this time of year.
Being a born and raised Texan - glad to see someone as passionate about Whataburger as myself - been a fan over 50 years and my wife has the same response as yours - lol, bad for you food never tasted so good! Safe travels y’all
Oh yeah! Whataburger all the way! Did you know that Whataburger was rated the healthiest of the fast food establishment? Thank you. 😃
Happy trails! Hope to see you guys in Quartzsite!
I hope so too! That would be great. Hopefully next week. See you soon.
Batteries are good for about 18 months from the manufactures date. Purchase new from a dealer that keep a fresh stock.
Thanks, Dale. I guess we're pretty fortunate that these lasted nearly 4 years then. We just expected them to last longer. Appreciate your comment.
Go Blue
Congratulations Wolverines!! Go Blue!
It was funny because we didn't know the outage existed for a while so the game was uninterrupted!
We have gone to the Mt Pleasant, TX Whataburger the most. Thanks
The reason for the ground shaking when trains pass, is you are located in the New Madrid earthquake fault zone, which is composed of silt from the Mississippi River over the eons. New Madrid is just north of you on I-55 near the Missouri / Arkansas border.
😆 🤣 that's good. We'll have to leave the New Madrid zone then.
I like watching your video I use to drive truck in Texas I live in Nebraska. I love your truck and trailer set up❤. Be safe hope to see more of you
Thanks, Dan. We'll be around each week, so hope to see you next week!
My parent traveled full time from 1980 to 1995 in their retirement in a
27 foot Airstream.
Nice trip planned. Hopefully summer arrives soon across the pond. Thank you for watching.
Another great video. The Route 66 trip looks like lotsa fun. Travel safely.
Thank you. We're looking forward to it. We hope we can drive sections of the original too!
Also you will be with about 3 miles of where we live and real close to an old dive diner that was build on the original Route 66.

So much fun, I have never been to a Whataburger but we have In-n-Out Burger a Southern California tradition.
I like In-n-Out "animal style" but Whataburger is my fav, a Texas "thing".
Thought it was funny you threw a shaka at whataburger - then when you pulled into your camp and said your last name is Kahanamoku , I understood :D. Kauai girl living in Dallas now . Enjoying your vlogs!
Aloha and mahalo.
Oh Sandra Mama, first time seeing you drive/back up the truck, lol.
She always backs up the truck when we hook up and she enjoys driving the rig on travel days. Good to have a shift change!
Still looking forward to meeting you both in Tucson during March….. love your videos!
Thank you so much and we enjoy Tucson. Looking forward to meeting, hope our schedules work out.
This may help. It's a tour while up in the Arctic.

Name the drone Juan Moore. “Let’s take Juan Moore flight.” 😂
😆 🤣 Thanks, Jane. That's good!
Thank you.
Glad to see you two back on the road my wife and I won't start are rv travels till april.safe travels ✌️
Thanks, Frank. April is just around the corner. It will be here before you know it. I know you're excited to start. Woohoo! Good times ahead!
I loved you had the Michigan game on the TV. Go Blue
National Champions! Go Blue
I enjoyed the game. I was pulling for Michigan so glad that they won. Their defense is awesome.
Awesome Rig But wow the maintenance bill wow. Here watching now 5:05 PM Tuesday
It was the first big bill in 8 years for maintenance and repairs on the truck. But it was a hefty load to pay at one time. Thank you. 😃
As a professional sports photographer who has a 2024 Super Duty and 33' Airstream on order... Everything about this Channel and your rig is just awesome! I am binging on your content while editing hockey photos....
Thank you for the awesome comment. I think you are the first to binge while editing professional sports photos. Now that's cool 😎!
Good times.
Wow! That's amazing to keep track of all those cars. We visited the UP yard in Nebraska, it's amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Love you too guys at 2 people. And please reset bad weather coming for the next several days
@@bigtruckbigtravels yeah keep well clear.
Volvo better by far
You are in rare form Dave😊👍
😁😊😂🤣 Living life as I see it, Linda...and trying to make others smile. We enjoy traveling and being back in the big rig. Thanks for watching and appreciate your comment.
My FIL is an over the road truck driver. Your repair bill seems to be on the lower end of what he sees regularly. Those trucks are expensive to repair and diagnose. Happy you guys are back on the road.
Thanks, Vince. We're excited that it was the first time for such a repair bill in over 8 years. They can be expensive but then everything seems expensive nowadays! Good to be back and glad you're along.
YAY!!! My show is back on the air! I missed the first 35 minutes. What happened?
LOL...then you need to watch the first 35 minutes! I don't want to deprive you of the personal experience of seeing us in the first 35 mins. My description in this comment would not be adequate or do it justice. 🤔😁😊🤣😂
thats a BS bill.but thats why i never used a dealer.especially volvo........but glad you got going
Thanks
Now one of my favourite sites to watch. Thankyou. 😊😊😊
Gee, thanks, Kate. We're honored that you spend your time with us. We really appreciate your time watching the channel.
Glad to see you back. I’m surprised to see her driving.
Thanks, Nancy. Sondra likes to drive the rig. I usually do the mornings and when we park and she takes a "shift" after lunch. Good to be back. Glad you're along on the journey.
Loving your adventures! A good time was had by all!
Yes it was! We enjoyed it and glad you did too!
and for that very reason we chose a CLASS A ,
all the hookin and un hookin not 4 us
u guys are awsome but man when i godda go i godda go cant do the hour long hook up an tear down thing.
i mean to gather up everything pull the car up about ahhh 45 min maybe or more .
nooo way lol
😆 🤣 Thanks. It's definitely a "lifestyle" choice! Since it's our home we have no other place or lot, it just felt more like a home than a Class A. But that was a hard decision because the Class A's are definitely easier to travel.
and u are so right we thought about a nice fith wheel aswell because they have alot of space and nice inside but when u weigh out the pros and cons when you are parked and everythings done yayyy now u can relax and enjoy
but when u godda go u dread the tear down omg lol almost like pullin teeth .
but we are also huge on boondocking and we will do it anywhere from walmart to cracker barrel anywhere.
never cared much for rv parks or resorts
they are filled with busy bodies lol remember mrs kravitz on the show bewitch lol that nosey neighbor lol ohhh man
any who..
we to are headed to quart site arizona soon
in a few months. happy travels
Another amazing episode Thanks see you next week
Glad you enjoyed it, Wayne. We'll be in the desert...if we don't get blown away! 😯😁😎
that's ok on dumping the air bags that's what all trucks do that have that ability, as you try this out you will see how well this works, 1 other thing I always put 3/4 inch plywood about 15" square under the landing gear legs so as to spread the load of the trailer cuz sometimes you drop it & may 1 leg sinks into the soil then it's hard to get the trailer hooked up I even do it on any surface just 2 be safe
Thanks for the tips! Appreciate your input on that. We're always trying to improve our process so we'll take a look at that and see what works for us.
Sounds like fun! Really camping now!
Oh yeah! We really enjoy boondocking and that sense of freedom. Lots of fun ahead!
What was wrong with your truck??. Glad to see you on the way, look forward to seeing you on the road. You a lucky to have some room at your daughters place to park up. I see you have got a burger an a drink. CHEERS NZ
I put a list up at the 14:00 minute mark. Mainly batteries, diagnostics and air leak repairs. Thanks and enjoy the NZ summer!
I just love y'all. Have a safe trip!!
Thank you, Marcy. We try to keep it between the ditches. Looking forward to 2024 and glad you're along on the journey. 😊
Just a tip , if you are not doing this it might wise for you to look into this, lock up the drive axels when entering & leaving driveways & uneven approaches & leaving paved roads onto dirt road’s until you get back to pavement. This because you have a good chance to break a axel on uneven ground & if you break an axel you are not going anywhere 1 more tip when going up steep grades before you ascend the grade engage the axel locker until you reach the top of the grade then disengage the axel locker, this way you will have better control of the vehicle & tire where, as you probably know that the front axel in a tandem group is the driving axel, thx for all the videos, have fun as you always do, remember rubber side down & and shining side up😅
Thank you very much. We are still learning the proper way to engage the axle locker. This is good advice.
thx for the reply, if you need any other help feel free to contact me, I have been skinn tricks for 60 years 😅 & owned a trucking firm for over half of that + there are a few more tricks to get more fuel mileage, I have a ?, is the trailer equipped with air ride suspension, watching the videos I couldn't tell one way or the other.
@ferraritoybox thank you. Yes, it's air ride with air disc brakes. Same running gear as a semi-trailer.
@@bigtruckbigtravels if I have you on over load let me know, also does the truck have a dump valve for the air suspension on the truck?, if so this is the proper way to drop the or any other connected to the 5th wheel plate, 1st after stopping the rig set the trailer brakes then back the truck up until there is resistance at that point keep your foot on the brake pedal if this an automatic trans you may need to use your left foot on the brake pedal to complete this task now set the tractor protection brake (yellow) lol now go to the trailer run down the landing gear to the point where a little air from the tractor, now disconnect thr air lines & 7 way plug, now go to the 5th wheel release handle & pull it now that's done go back to the truck set your left foot on the brake pedal ( if manual then in gage the clutch to the friction point) now with either done release the yellow brake knob still holding the brakes once the tractor protection valve has released then move forward about a foot or so then stop with your foot still on the brake pedal lower the truck with the air deflation valve once the truck drops the pull out & air up if need be, reasoning for this 1 it takes the load off the landing gear, next part is important now to hook up drop air in the truck air bags then backup to the trailer place the 5th wheel at least 3/4 under the trailer now air the bags wait a few seconds until the trailer rests on the 5th wheel now back under until you hear thr king pin ingage into the fifth wheel pull forward then back up & forward to make sure you are hooked up the reason for all this is if you fir some reason you can't get under your trailer in a straight line you can pick up the trailer from 0 to 90°, if you don't do the above you could lose the trailer off the landing (collapsing them what a pickle)
note you can get away with it if the trailer is empty, also if you don't hit king pin straight away that's why the 5th wheel has a V in it that being said now you know why it is important take the load off the landing gear, sorry this reads like a novel. try it out
@@ferraritoybox unfortunately, our truck can only dump the air 100%.
😂🤣😎Good advice! Thanks
I wouldn't continue to use the repair center that seems to kill your batteries.
We're going to re-evaluate.....
Sounds like you have fun. Nice to be rich..
We are enjoying retirement, Steven. We love to travel and see this great country of ours. Appreciate your time watching the channel.
well that bill is not to bad.that truck is what 10 years old?my dad told me years and years ago anything mechanical can break down at anytime for reasons only the shop will know, i was having nothing but problems with my last hdt is why i bought the new 2024 pete.i do like warrenties now i have 600 hp bigger sleeper and a longer wheelbase. brings me right to 78ft. it is only 5 months old love it to death. this winter while it is shut down i am having both seats recovered with a super nice leather with extra padding and electric back massagers and leg massagers. worth every cent only thing i do not like is that def crap
Nice. Very true. Not a bad bill for a nearly 10 year old truck. The back massager will be sweet.
“Uh oh”? What, you leave us with a cliffhanger? 😂😂 . This can’t be good. Already looking forward to next week. Stay safe, stay well.
😎😊😁Had to spice it up a little, John. Not a good combination of losing power during a 50+ mph wind storm in freezing temperatures! Thanks for watching. Hope you're doing well.
Happy to travel west with you. Wishing you safe travels. Will you be at any HDT rallies in 2024?
Thank you and yes, we plan to present at the West Coat HDT and the National HDT rallies. There is an east coast one which we may hit on our way east. You just never know!
Yes, T watched the video about Curiosity. What I'm asking for is the Name of the Manufacture. Where the dealerships are in Western Washington, if any? Thank you, Drive safe!
It's made by Thor Manufacturing. It's a Magnitude XG32 . Not sure about Washington but we purchased ours from General RV in Ocala, FL.
I used to own Catipillars when ever I was bringing them home for service the home shook yard was shaking according to spouse uncle felt it 3/4 mile away from home gravel road I drove about 50km to 60km a hr when I turn Jake brake about 1/2 miles away times I had the large braking Disc on the low-boy trailer red flags hanging for safety day time only
Nice. Let it shake the road! Oh yeah! Thanks for sharing.
