Old Bird Kroot looks wonderful. The mini is full of grumpy character and the paint job really adds to its personality. Kudos on releasing this old chap in to the wild.
My mate collects Tau and has painted all his Tau to look like bogan Australian construction workers, and all his Kroot have Aboriginal dot painting all over their guns and on Dahyak Grekh's entire cloak is covered in dot art. Edit: forgot to mention he's also named all his models (that do well in game) things like Ste'vo and D'aymo
Hi Félix, glad to know of you, hope your healt issues no longer put your life in danger. Sorry about grammar, not native english speaker. Love your work in STLs.
@EonsOfBattle: There is such a compendium, at least for some of the creatures in the 40k universe. "Liber Xenologis" by Darius Hinks is about all the beeings living in the blackstone fortresses
Very nice work, Jay. The beauty of this figure is in it's simplicity. With too much little sculpted detail, you wouldn't have been able to make it your own. I love super-intricate icons and drybrush-rich environments, but a nearly blank canvas is the perfect opportunity for your creativity to shine through. The cloak looks amazing!
That Lore book you want, was released with Blackstone Fortress and is called Liber Xenologis, and is a beastiary written from the perspective of Janus Draik
That's the best part of painting minis, coming up with their own unique story. I come up with the best baddies with a pain brush. I love plopping a mini down on the table for my D&D players that perfectly matches the description and story and so far they haven't caught on.
Not ONE of us are thinking you "cOuLd HaVe HaD aNy MoDeL", we are all gobsmacked and flawed at that beautiful model and stunning paintwork. Well done mate, I look forward to waking up in a cold sweat thinking, "Crap. I need to make a full Kroot army now."
Try a black .05 pen from that line that is NOT the brush pen. They're super fine, inexpensive, and awesome for things like this or tiny scroll doodling. They come in a couple colors, but black is the go-to, and a sealer locks it on great.
That’s amazingly awesome!!! I love that Kroot dude and the way you painted his cloak is fantastic. Making it a planetary map is genius. Thanks for making it available to everyone! Fantastic work as always gents!!
he looks like an ethereal shaper or something, really like it, and that freehand on the robe was awesome, might have to try that out sometime :D great job
That is really cool, if painting up an elderly bird alien is your thing and since it's not some big, hulking space warrior or freaky beasty it does have its charm. I've never, ever painted any of the Kroot figures, maybe time to change that.
1: I thought this was going to be a kitbashing video based on the title, but I still wasn't disappointed! 2: I love your love of the Kroot 3: if there's ever a fan meet, we're totally talking Mad Max, it's rare I meet someone who matches my love for it.
Speaking of limited releases Liber Xenologis is the flora and fauna tome you are after, or at least as close to it as you can get for now... if you can get it... 😅
That's a great model. I like that you redid the pod-racer when your skills got better. I'm currently building kits of the models I already did as a teenager too.
wow, that's really cool. The only thing your kroot need (imo) is a nice basing of tall static grass. That's how i plan to do my Tau / Kroot army when i get to that stage. A blend of tall grasses in yellows and greens.
OMG.... Someone email Jay... he has to get into Gaslands. The game is so much fun and it would be killer to see his hotwheel creations. Thumbs up to Gaslands and repeat the message so Jay can see it, "Gaslands."
There's actually a Games-Day Kroot Shaper too, if you're feeling like a completionist. Weirdly, I picked up mine from a bargain bin in a FLGS. The store owner was a tad baffled - he had no idea how it had got there.
The book, “Xenology” is kinda the book you are looking for. It’s a book where an imperial has a zoo of aliens he is researching and dissecting. He even has a Kroot assistant.
Dammit! That model is better painted than anything I’ve ever done, and you seem to have done it fairly easily. I’m so jealous of your skills!!! (Great job, Jay- loved the video, as usual 🙂)
There's a type of Japanese fountain pen that has a brush instead of a tip or a quill. It might be worth looking into. I picked up one off of Amazon without any difficulty. Stiil, a good paint job.
JAYYYYYY!!! Your like…. The basing guy?!?! Where be that sweet sweet base for your custom one of a kind model my dude?!?! Sir! I am shocked and saddened by this great injustice! Fix this please!
Just as I was painting Kroot, you release this - good inspiration as I was thinking about a colour for the cloak that's not red, that tan came out great so I'll gladly use that and I'll just skip the freehand for now!
Felixthecrazy is the only sculptor who has actually made me want a 3d printer. I NEED a Kroot blood bowl team, and now I MUST have the wise old Kroot and the doof Kroot...
Well this reminds me I've got to send a couple of bucks to Felix soon, because I've printed a couple of his models, and I always pay up for 3D files I use. I especially like his Inferior Weapons for Deployment vessel... it kind of reminds me of an FW speeder.
You had the perfect opportunity to put him in a blue bathrobe with yellow rubber duckies and you let that ship sail on by
Buy the model and do it yourself
@@newtybot it’s a reference to one of his previous episodes lol

I'm genuinely curious what this army actually looks like
I'd love to see this army, given I'm an Aussie.
I am an Australian and I approve this message
Classic racist ozzies
I might be painted as one. Bogan Australian contruction worker here
Outstanding work as always. Glad I could participate in this project.
Hi Félix, glad to know of you, hope your healt issues no longer put your life in danger. Sorry about grammar, not native english speaker. Love your work in STLs.
your back must be sore carrying the entire kroot range on your back.
@@elzordack4589 Kidney transplant went well and I'm doing good. Very much of an improvement over years past.
@@scrungus3216 LOLz. I was just doing my part until GW finally gave some love to kroot again.

The cloak looks amazing!
My fav part 7:49 😂😂 you’re the best for adding that
I’ve watched this twice now and the freehand sends that guy way over the top. Simply lovely.
Glad to see Felix's stuff getting a spotlight - He's very well known in the Kroot Community, and has loads of high quality stuff
That Lore book you want, was released with Blackstone Fortress and is called Liber Xenologis, and is a beastiary written from the perspective of Janus Draik

Try getting yourself a copy of Liber Xenologis. It came out a few years ago and is all about xenos species in 40k. With pictures! Really great book.
It's exactly what he's after and it's funny too!

Just so you know, there is a tomb for that sort of stuff. It’s called “Liber Xenologis” and it has Kroot in it :)
Many thanks Felix and Jay for the Kroot Eldar!
Wonderful! You did a great job on the Kroot Elder, and the toga is inspired.
That mini is absolutely beautiful. Such amazing texture and depth in the cloth, then an intriguing idea with the map cloak. Really well done
That is *So* beautiful. I wish I could do even 1/10th of these skills. *Perfect* model

They come in a couple colors, but black is the go-to, and a sealer locks it on great.
The Kroot (hell, most of the other Tau ally species) are criminally under-fleshed out.
Awesome job on both models. The freehand was super well done.
Dear god I thought the thumbnail was you pulling out your eyeball
That's lovely, great idea and execution with the free hand
Love ur WALK THE DOGS note, easy to carried away kit bashing an painting on a mizzly day an thinke " ah they'll be fine.
Cool Paintjob. But the Kroot remembers me everytime of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee.
Great job!!! Beautiful model, thanks so much for not demanding it be the only one!
That’s amazingly awesome!!! I love that Kroot dude and the way you painted his cloak is fantastic. Making it a planetary map is genius. Thanks for making it available to everyone! Fantastic work as always gents!!
Amazing Mini! Excellent paintjob, especially the map motive on his toga.
he looks like an ethereal shaper or something, really like it, and that freehand on the robe was awesome, might have to try that out sometime :D great job
So beautiful! GW and other 3D miniature artists could learn a thing or two about simplicity from that sculpt!
I just watches fury road again yesterday and i couldn't stop how cool doot looked.
Love your paintjob on this amazing sculpt. One breatiful old bird man

"You are what you eat" - ancient Kroot proverb
Kroots remind me of a line from a show. "You are what you eat, I can be you by morning."
I wanna paint this up in a blue bathrobe with rubber duckies
Speaking of limited releases Liber Xenologis is the flora and fauna tome you are after, or at least as close to it as you can get for now... if you can get it... 😅
I love how the cloak turned out.... thats sweet
If you use a watercolor pencil, you can clean up any mistakes with water instead of trying to erase it away.
Great video Jay, great fig and awesome paint job on your Kroot. This is why I like you channel. 👍
Noise marine: “finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!”
the freehand is sick, good work!
F yeah! Great model. Great paint! Great story! Love the content!
Amazing Jay. Great paint Job and concept.
That's a great model. I like that you redid the pod-racer when your skills got better. I'm currently building kits of the models I already did as a teenager too.
personally these painting vids are the best that EoB makes

Jay this model looks fantastic! Amazing freehand!!!
Would love to see a video where you bring this back and do an epic base or something for him!
I have the Games Day 2003 LE Kroot Model “Anghor Prok”….he stopped existing in 4th:)
Boy! That Robe is looking awesome!
Amazing freehand work!!
The thumbnail looks like you pulled your eye out!
You are just the best for keeping the hobby juices flowing. I really want to try some freehanding now
Awesome model and paint job.
Also, I just saw Clerks 3 and you were awesome in the movie!
That’s Amazing!

Stiil, a good paint job.
that cloak must be some of your best work!
That toga is a piece of art.
That map looks great! Nice job!
I think that an Ethereal Kroot should have a little more "cyan" skin tone in order to underline the transformation he got through. Great job anyway!!
The map was an awesome idea!
"A model ist not finished until it is based." - Jay
Nice work all round far play to u both

Such a neat idea for a custom mini, and an absolutely awesome paint job!
That free hand is beautiful ❤
Great job as always dude 👍🏻
The Mel Gibson Mad Max movies came in a trilogy. We need two more Tom Hardy Mad Max movies to follow on the heels of Fury Road.
Anghkor Prok was an event exclusive Kroot mini from Games Day 2001, you should try to find one.
you can also use a 005 figma pen for eyes or freehanding more straight stuff
Tbh I thought you were going to zoom in on your cute dimple smile 😃 😊
Because that's one of a kind!
Awesome work, cheers Bob
That came out amazing great job
40k kinda has the book your looking for. Its called Liber Xenologie or something
That Kroot looks so good!

Kroot give me strong Abe's odyssey vibes.
It's not a bathrobe, you have an "old croot" in a star chart!
Well this reminds me I've got to send a couple of bucks to Felix soon, because I've printed a couple of his models, and I always pay up for 3D files I use. I especially like his Inferior Weapons for Deployment vessel... it kind of reminds me of an FW speeder.
love you man, I'll print and paint this guy (horribly) for sure!
Mahatma Croothi!!! :D :D :D He looks great! :) love the sky map on the clothing!
Fantastic.
What a cool dude! Great work.
I am honestly shocked that you, of all people, did not base this guy!
Walk the dogs Jay!
A bestiary with lore and statlines for 40k/ Sigmar would be awesome for more narrative games
