    Got the ttartisan for $100usd, slapped a square hood and a 1/4 black mist filter on it and I'm loving it's performance. The vignette, sun starring, and bloom are gorgeous

      Where have you found a mist filter for this size?

      @@ShotsByJev Got it off amazon, made by Urth in 39mm!

      Thanks, was looking for this size, but turns out it is not that common

      @@ShotsByJev Yeah it is very hard to find options, even though the Fuji 27 has the same filter size lol, but I also got an Urth Ethereal 1/8 and really like it.

    Thanks for the comparison and you are the only youtuber that talk that much about the vignetting, and I agree with you, it is definitively the defining carateristic of that lense. Very good for the price but the vignetting is too overpowering at times. But I didn't regret buying it at all since it's not one of my main lenses but I can kep it easely in my bag as this is small. I think that spare use as a complementary lense (between a 23 or 18mn and a 56 for example) is on of the 2 main appeal of it, along with gluing it on a small body for everyday, not too serious photography.

    • @ShotsByJev
      @ShotsByJev  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I myself dont quite decided yet wether I like that vignetting or not, because sometimes it is better to just have clean image

    nice comparisson. thank you for the effort put into making the video. i will be getting the tt lens. love the vignetting, it really does add character to the pics :)

  • @ofthenearfuture

    I also got the TTArtisan 27 and really enjoy it. And I was also able to do the same comparison with my friends Fuji 27 Mk1, and still decided to keep the TTA. Partly because of the price (and it was literally impossible to find a Fuji 27 where I lived lol), but I also liked the performance, IQ and rendering (including the swirly bokeh). It absolutely has it's downsides like its flare, but like you said the biggest issue is definitely the vignette, but it's almost never an issue for me and I shoot raw + jpeg so can fix it if I really need to. I think the biggest design difference between the two is the Fuji 27 has an aspherical element, which definitely contributes to it's higher price and probably a more accurate colour rendering.
    Anyways, this was a great review and you took some awesome shots!

      thank you for sharing this! for now I am even thinking of maybe selling both 27mm and just get second version of Fujis 27mm, because still hard to decide which one to keep out of these two I currently have 🙈

      @@ShotsByJev Nice, the Fuji 27 Mk2 is definitely the best out of all of them! I mean if you can afford the extra cost it's worth it for a fantastic lens

    The only problem with Fuji 27mm is the AF sound, thought I got a defective piece

    I think I’d keep the TT, but would like to see how it handles skin tones. Which would you keep?

    • @showdaKOs
      @showdaKOs 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      It handles skin tones great, the color cast is negligeable really, but he is right to talk that much about the vignetting, it is almost inevitable and so strong you can't correct for it easely in post. I was aware of it before buying it but still got surprised by it.. If you can afford it, i suggest the fuji but if it's not one of your main lense and/or you want something cheap, the TTartisan IQ is more than OK (except for the vignetting).

    • @ShotsByJev
      @ShotsByJev  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Well I havent tested the skin tones, but I assume TTartisan will again go a bit on a magenta side, but it is very easy to correct in post.

    • @ShotsByJev
      @ShotsByJev  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yeah, when I took first photos with this lens I also got quite surprised by this vignetting.

  • @neilmontgomery3470
    @neilmontgomery3470 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    The vignetting is only really noticeable at wide apertures can be artistic (as you rightly point out) and is very easy to remove in post if you don't like it. The Fuji 27mm is massively overpriced for a consumer level lens and I think you only get a marginal increase in image quality in most situations. If you shoot street or environmental photography, use an aperture of f5.6 or above I see no discernible advantage to the Fuji in terms of photo quality. One thing to consider is that people are choosing to put old manual focus lenses on their modern cameras to get a vintage look which includes vignetting for their photographs. This lens has that advantage, is autofocus and does not require an adaptor. It will be interesting to see if TT Artisans bring out a mark 2 version of this lens.

      When I used to print B&W in a darkroom I often gave images an “edge burn” aka vignette on purpose. With digital it is easy to add it or correct it if undesired.
