Michael and his band used to play at BBs in St Louis on a regular basis...They would also drop in unannounced while they were on tour and passing through St Louis. I recall some nights while I was playing with Arthur Williams Michael and the band would show up and we would of course invite him to sit in with us....Arthur would say to me; "Larry ,let him play your guitar and you sing ". Instead I would give Michael my guitar and sit down and listen knowing the audience wanted to hear him sing and play...He was very humble and immensely talented..Gone too soon....RIP Michael
Lucky you.....I love him f ever....part of my life Was expecting see him in London....but.....his Gone f another place and one day will give him a big Hug and say tha k you f everything..one day will meet him in heaven Bless
Best song on From the Inside Out. Saw him at a little club across the street from the Little Rock Police Dept. He played a very long version 15-20 minutes of this song. Broke two strings, kept playing, fixed them and still kept playing. It was something I will never forget.
What an amazing story, you are a lucky person. That is something that will stay with you always. I did get to see him live once myself at the 25th WC Handy awards and it too was great. thank you for sharing.
Saw him many times. A good ole Arkansas man. He was very humble and always took time for his fans. I saw him at the Ft. Smith, Arkansas Bluesfest. It started storming bad, rain blowing sideways. But he stayed out there and finished his set in the downpour. It was epic!
