I feel so ashamed that I've only recently discovered his songs. And so gutted to know today that he has passed away. What a loss :'(
Truly he will go down in history as one of the greatest guitarists that walked this earth.
Seen him live in 2004, he was far better than many other big name groups.
You will be missed Michael, and your music will forever live.

What a loss
Absolutely NOT. MB was well appreciated. But he could never stand toe to toe with any of the blues stars of his day. He had zero stage presence and focused too much on the guitar. Amazing voice, but you have to sing TO THE PEOPLE, move around and show some excitement. Command the damn stage. Not saying be a gimmick or dancing bear. I'm saying, put out a powerful engery. Just like in this song, he's the victim... thats largely how all his shows went.
this guy makes me cry every time I hear this tune...so much love and pain in every note of his guitar...may God bless his soul forevermore...

Tone is so elusive. You can't buy it. You can't steal it. Some players have it. Most players don't. Michael definitely had it.

I have tone, and but I don't have the technical ability. A few local guys brought me in for their recording sessions to dial in their tone. They needed the amps and pedals adjusted between takes so that the multitracking would be distinct, and so that all the songs wouldn't sound the same. It's actually a lot of fun and a nice way to contribute and help people express themselves.
I've done the same thing for people's sound checks occasionally. I adjust their amps so it sounds right for the space, and then I leave the rest to the venue staff.
What I really enjoy though is playing, even though I'll never do it at a professional level.
Study Jazz and Classic Guiter for couple of years never get tired about his melody and riff. He is the best for me
A big loss. Had the honor of meeting Michael at a blues festival in PA a couple of years ago. Soft spoken, modest, with a big hears who loved his family dearly. So warm. And an amazing musician. Play on Michael!
I got to see him twice in 05&06,at a small blues club in Salem Oregon,hung out after the show for an hour talking to me and my friend telling us great stories of the road,super nice guy.

🎵 WOW seriously....to me this IS the Blues and why I love the Blues this man is a legitimate throwback to the all-time greats and this footage right here is without a doubt some of the realest most soulful Blues I think I've ever come across....such sweet phrasing I'm so sad to hear that he's no longer here with us as this is EXACTLY the kind of player I would look to try to see play out live no question 🎵

I fell in love with this song the first time I saw Kingfish perform it on Luke Cage. So much soul, emotion, and one of the best guitar riffs ever written, IMO. It's a complete shame that Iron Man Burks isn't a household name, and this song is proof that he should be. One of the best blues songs since the golden years of the 3 kings.

I was there too! We had the privilege of meeting him, steady rolling Bob Margolin and PineTop Perkins at the Mojo blues after show. Treasured memories deep seated in Blues!
