I was not impressed with the 50D myself, but 800T is AMAZING - you really ought to try shooting it outdoors at night or inside under dim lighting, that's where it truly shines in my opinion! It's beautiful for 'moody' shots, and the tungsten balance really accentuates the shadows.
Brandon, had the same thought! that low light portrait was stunning
Yeah, 50D wasn't very nice at all, but 800T is quite nice.
I actually really liked the way that whites had the red 'outlines', worked really well with artificial light and gave it a nice effect I think
50D + Good Glass is a killer combo for studio work
Do you shoot it at box speed?
God damn, Aslan stunting with the motherfucking Crocs on 😤
Gimme more videos dammit!
I am MAD and SURPRISED there were not more white croc shots! We all need to see more samples of Cinestill highlight fall-off off those beautifully ventilated and bulbous toe boxes!
huge fan of the white crocs matching the chalk
So glad the white crocs phenomenon has moved from the Aslan & Estee universe into Negative Feedback as well. Can't get enough of those white crocs hahaha
what a nice lil round up of a cute lil day
Yeah that was the impression I got as well
twas one of the best
Louis Bryant Very interesting. I have a Leica rangefinder and I used to have a Maymia 7 about 18years ago and had to sell it at a 70 % loss because I was told that the lab could only make 8x10 in prints or larger when all I needed most of the time were smaller 6 by 4 proofs. Now with prints made from a scan the medium format makes a lot of sense. But I don't have employment or money to get back into medium format film but I am thinking about it!. I like the idea of 800asa film with medium format and using it as if were a point and shoot 35mm! I don't want to use a tripod all the time. I liked the results you got with the Pentax 67
Louis Bryant Tutorial for shooting nightscapes would be really cool!

NEGATIVE FEEDBACK IS THE BESTTT LOVE YOUR WORK GEORGE
YES, a review right before I have to choose some film for the trip! Thanks!
I've waited so long for this video!!!
Same! This video made my day!
So glad to see your channel doing so well george!
tungsten is important in tungsten photographs
Needs more tungsten
4:51/4:53 - Fantastic shots. Absolutely love them.
Nice one! Just yesterday I uploaded a video on my channel with me shooting the CineStill 50d with my X-Pan. I also shot a couple rolls Kodak Vision3 50d on which the CineStill is based on and I prefer that one because you don't get the red halos and it is a lot cheaper. The only downside is that you have to develop it at home and deal with the Remjet layer which is not that hard and worth the effort.
I love your ad-libs and goofiness in this video. I'm so used to the super mellow George that this is super fun.
This was such a gorgeous video to watch and super helpful. Thank you!
Needed some 120 film for what is basically my first foray in to colour negative photography. Ended up with some portra 800 and cinestill 50d.
Previous to this I found an old instamatix with a half used 126 cartridge inside it, shot some of that (why not init), and I got another trifca 126 cartridge dated 1976 and shot that too.
Peterson tank and little bits coming today, chemicals in the next week or so. I can't wait to develop the 126 cartridges, and also to then develop these films I have coming.
Never done this as I mentioned, and the jeopardy of it all going wrong excites me!
My choices for shooting this 120 film on (or future film stock on) so far are, in order of popularity;
BENCINI KOROLL 24S (a fever dream of polished aluminium)
PRINZIFLEX 200E (USSR SLR that I found with an m42 helios lens attached a couple years ago and bought for a tenner)... guessing this is 35mm!?
What slr body should I go for if I want to go with strict technically perfect shots rather than experimenting like I am right now? Would appreciate any advice on any of this from anyone at all!
Love the photo at 4.52 man, so much detail in medium format, great work !
SOOO hyped on a new video!
The 50D really shines in portraits, I think. The way it renders skin tones is absolutely gorgeous in my testing of it. It also shows off an atmosphere really well in darkish areas -- I get the best results when I underexpose by a quarter of a stop. Speaking of which, those red highlights you got in a lot of the pictures is a result of the anti-halation layer being removed in cinestill. You need really good exposure control to have it not happen.
I know little to nothing about photography but i still watch every single one of your videos religiously.
If you've been watching every single one of his videos religiously I think you know more than you think you do at this point. :) The most important thing is knowing about the process anyway and that's been well covered here.
the best channel! love the shots at 3.16 and 3.18!
Thats what makes me love the Cinestill 800T so much. its my go to for night shooting as I love the effect the halations give to the shots you take. will be trying some long exposure shots in the city this weekend where I live to see how they will look with light trails. wonderful film!
I’m in love with the 800T colours
the shot of the pigeons flying away is so cool
Hey! a new song! love the song and the video. great work once again George.
Did you by chance use an 85B filter with the 800T when in whiter lighting? My understanding is that outside of a good warm yellow light 800T has a blueish cast - I'd recommend trying the 85B with your next 800T roll and seeing how that looks.
cinestill recommends shooting at ISO500 with an 85B filter (which corresponds to the 2/3 stop reduction of the 85B). If you have a TTL meter then you can probably leave it at 800 - but it might be interesting to bracket with ISO500+filter, ISO800+filter, and ISO800 w/o filter. Maybe ISO500w/o filter to see how it does overexposed nearly a stop.
Regardless, I'm working through a roll of 800 now and have a roll of 50 waiting in the wings. Glad to see you took a look at it as well!
climb well gergo
pigeon well gergo
Great video again, thanks!!
George, I wonder if you ever tried Kodak Ultramax 400 colour negative film. It is quite a bit cheaper than Portra 400 but from what I've seen it has a similarely eye-pleasing white balance, nice and vibrant colours and true skin tones. I got myself a roll of this and I'll try it out very soon but it would be interesting to see a comparison and hear your opinion on it!
What a useful video, thank you. I am thinking of trying out the 50D and didn't really expect it to have these nice tones. Regarding 800T, it is so much better at night because the unique tones and halos really stand out. However, these daylight shots weren't bad either. I'm gonna have to make a similar 50D vs. 800T comparison ASAP 😎
I love the 800T! Looks so good.
I love your videos they inspire me to continue creating content for my channel!
Quite good video, awesome!
Aslan in the phone box haha! Nice one.
Love Louis's portraits. I really enjoyed shooting 800T, my lower light shots were more interesting, but I liked the tones. It was a nice change of pace.
Cinestill is one of my favorite films to shoot ! Maybe it's just me but I love the red halation also haha
gorgeous film full of life
Always good videos!
Great content. Keep it up!
Thanks for sharing this - I'm about to get some 800T.
4:06 is such a cool photo! love the neon strip and the entire composition! Great work!
That 800T came out a treat, really have to try it!
This made me really wanna try cinestill, great video
Wow I'm in love with your photography, voice, face etc ......
Great photography and enjoy your vidz thoroughly but could you talk through how you use the cameras, when you approach a scene you want to shot what settings do you use to bring out certain features etc.
That last shot was great))) Say, does Cinestill use DX coding on their 135 canisters now? I remember their first batches were not marked.
Hi George, I assume you did use a 85b orange filter on your friend’s portrait with the 800t 120 roll, although we don’t see it? Because skin tones just are perfect, I’d like to get the same ones!
Dstructeur1 no filters
Beautiful shot at 4:53!
I have the cinestill 50 that I accidentally shot at 800. Ever pushed color 4 stops? I haven't developed it yet..
Would you recommend the 6X7? Thinking of getting one
2:09 was really cool. i'm a fan of the red halo and getting a halo off some reflective stuff during the day is a pretty nice concept. I think that can be used to do something interesting
Good! Keep it up!
Great pictures, keep it up proud of ya
Something about the photo at 4:51 that I like so much. At first I thought the film wasn't drawn to my liking, but you can get some cool images with it.
review well gergo
Great colours with the cinestill, v cool
Please do a video on shutter speed, aperture and/or ISO ! If you could please also tell us which settings you use on each photo! Thank you :)
Yashica T5 has now just jumped up £500 in price! Curse you George and hipsters......but mostly hipsters!
Really like these 2 films especially the 800T. Might have to purchase a roll of 50 for Spain next year.
C'mon George, 800T on daylight? What a waste.
Leonel Remille It’s amazing in daylight with an 85 filter. Looper was shot entirely on 500T and there a lot of daylight scenes in the film.
squad well Georgo
I rather like the halation effect, when used with intent. I'm going to have to give the 50D a try. Thanks for the video!
I love ur photos!
Hey, did you use a filter for the 800t daylight shots and if which? Or why are the colors like they are?
It's so strange to see you walking around my local area. I pass Canada Water almost every day and it seems to me so predictable and dull by now.. This video made me see it from a fresh perspective 👍🙂
how did you scan it so good !? When I sent a roll of 800t to the lab for develop, I got this really blueish grainy photos :(
Nice video as always !!
I can only recommend the lab I use, they're called Bayeux in London and are superb. They'll give you 30% off if you refer through Negative Feedback
Thank you for letting me know :) Although shipping might hurts because I live outside of UK, I will try it out someday !
thanks for sharing this. I had some experience with the 800t in a teatre stage shoot and I didn't like it. Grainy film, the halation is very very strong and you can't really rely on the advertised 800iso speed. In fact the small print on the case warns you that at 5500K the sensitivity goes down to 500iso. The blue cast on every light source that is not tungsten is also very apparent.
I have the feeling that this film may be great on very dim tungsten lights, so it may be the right choice to shoot street out at night. In fact I want to try that next time.
Hey, I just got your second book today and I really loved it. Keep doing what ya doin :~>
Great video! Keep it up
you should try out a bunch of different types of 120 film
@negativefeedback: how'd you do 5:11? I recently just got into film and looks like a double exposure shot... kinda do like the composition of the photos but please let me know how ya did this!
When is your website coming, George?
Nice video man!
made my day
im somewhat of a film beginner but im working on this large project on immigration and need more detailed pictures than what my 35 mm canon ae1 has been giving me, do you suggest i get a twin lense reflex in hopes of getting medium format-detail or should i just get another lense with a zoom?
Well, medium format is always a good thing :) I use Yashica Mat with Yashinon lens, which si pretty good for the price :) If you would consider it, try to find one with Yashinon and avoid Yashikor lenses.
I think if you don‘t like the halation the a porta 800 or lomo 800 is probably better. I love the halation and the effects it has on red light.
Hello!!! What video was it that you let someone draw over your photos, I'm curious to what kind of print to use to do the same ?
Awesome video. However, I would not have used cinestill in a point & shoot. But, to each his own. Still love the video!
Any recommendations for a cheap, good starter film camera? Thanks.
did you use a filter for the 800t daylight shots and if which?
I have an idea for a video that would probably bring about some interesting results. You should walk around the city and come up to a stranger/strangers with a point and shoot or something and just say, "Okay ready? 3...2...1" and snap a photo of them. They're responses will probably vary, but it would be cool seeing peoples' genuine reactions to being put on the spot like that.
I like the way you said "England".
And he does rock climbing, another reason to love George. What grade do you climb if you don't mind me asking?
I've only been going for about 6 months now! The harder climbs I manage are V4 I believe
2 friggin Hendrixes yesterday pal
That yellow tho
I actually shot the cinestill50 at night in fog and thought it looked so beautiful: www.artsy.net/artwork/david-rothschild-secret-chorale
Your photos are awesome
Did you use flash for the evening shots of your friends?
Good old George, finding the most obscure parts of London to shoot in
4:51 & 4:54 😳
4:52 in love with that one
oh jeez Wednesday is gonna be interesting
There's something about that shot I appreciate 4:27
both stocks are great push or pulled.. amazing films
Quite like the 800T but the 50D did nothing for me.
You should have shot at red lights on street scenes at sunset-night to get that halo effect, something that this film is known for more than daytime, which the ISO 50 is better suited.
the pictures @ 4:52-4:53 were so beautiful
happy that eric kim got a shout out! hahaha im a fan of his blog
What’s the name od the first track?
those photos of Louis are gorgeous
YES!
Awesome! :)
3:07 whats that noise haha
What's with the semi double exposure at th-cam.com/video/Do85twqchek/w-d-xo.htmlm11s ? Is that on the P67?
Was hoping you'd set the flash off 1:58
Also works on traffic signs.
WHAT IF you shoot the 50D inside a mall?
