    I think the reason why is has bigger black bars on the side, is because it has some sort of pixel shift, to combat burn-in. So the panel has slightly more pixels than it is actually displaying.

      This, my LG C2 does the same thing. The first thing I noticed was that the black bezels weren't uniform, then the next day I noticed the opposite sides were larger.

    The 12 bit are color depth of how far the range of color it can go for each pixel.
    12 Bit offers [4096] shades each of [Red, Green, Blue] for a total of over [68 billion colors].
    10 Bit offers [1024] shades of each of [Red, Green, Blue] for a total of over [1 billion colors].
    8 Bit offers [256] shades of each of [Red, Green, Blue] for a total of over [16.7 million colors].
    For example 12 Bit is 4096, 4096(Red) x 4096(Green) x 4096 (Blue) = 68.7 billion colors.
    A 36-Bit color depth also means 12-Bit color because the 36 refers to each pixel, not the subpixel.
    The higher the bits increases the more range of color is available and would make it,
    look more smoothly/naturally while lower bits are more blurrier low quality of color range.
    Just like with resolution the lower res are blocky and blurry as you increase to set higher resolution the image quality increases and becomes more crisp.
    Then you have Dolby Vision which to create the best HDR possible to have quality and smoothness of the combination of both color depth & resolution.

    • @TypeCTechReviews

      I explain this more in the review, coming tomorrow! It is actually fairly common to upgrade monitors every 1 to 3 years.

      I don’t know how rich dude you’re but 3 year even sounds extreme. You need to watch Linus Tech Tips Intel Extreme Upgrade series for his staff and they’re running PCs and monitor over decades old. What they show you on everyday reviews is totally opposite to what people actually use throughout the year.

      @@iWasimAbbas ikr I had mine for like 6+years. Only reason I'm even getting new monitor is coz I'm building a brand new PC so want a monitor for the new 4090. Like unless there some insane good montior upgrade that benefit you a lot there no reasons to constantly upgrade them.

    I don't understand this sentiment "if you're spending 1300 on a monitor you're not gonna keep it for more than 5 years"
    I feel like the average user wants to buy something they can keep for life. Even if they eventually end up upgrading they'd probably keep it as a secondary or something right? Or am i just tripping balls

    • @SinjiKazama
      @SinjiKazama ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Lt.Shineysides89 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not tripping balls.. i've ordered one and i plan on keeping it as many years as i can. I see this as "endgame" technology not that it will be but when it's competitors all launch i can't see much improving on it for a long time other than the 4k options wich is fine if you have a powerhouse of a pc! I have a 3080ti i don't wish to upgrade for a while so i see no point in 4k compared to this.

    • @Gus_Ellerm

  • @thesupernad
    @thesupernad 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I think the price of this monitor is indicative of what's to come. Samsung is switching to QDOLED only going forward for TV's, so I can see the price of these panels coming down so fast that LED monitors and TV's become obsolete really fast. Let's face it, these companies need this, the monitor and TV markets have been stale for a long time and they need to get sales up.
    We've got to a point where the cost to produce LED technology that competes with OLED keeps going up while OLED costs are going down. Mini LED costs twice as much as this monitor. It's time to retire LCD TV's, they had a good run. now shhh it's time to sleep.

    Its a 12bit panel.......which is very very rare because realistically most people cannot see the difference between 10 and 12 bit, however going lower you will see color banding. 12bit panels are usually reserved for Color accurate Professional Panels like say the ProArt line from Asus or Dells really high end lines before, above the ultrasharp range. Just for reference the older version of this monitor is an 8bit/120htz/4:2:2 sub chroma at the same resolution this is a 12bit/175htz/4:4:4 sub Chroma Panel, I am going to take a guess and say that we are finally seeing better visuals at higher resolutions due to the overall bandwidth of the cable standards going up to the point we are not oversaturating the full bandwidth of the cable standard. This is a hell of an upgrade.

    I just ordered one of these for £724 here in the UK! the price being that low was just too difficult to turn down. the issues i might run into are desk space wich is solvable by a vesa mount and i'm not a fan of white like i really dislike white but given the price,specs and just how amazing this looks i can learn to live with it. I'm changing the casing on my gmmk pro to pink so who knows maybe a bit of different colour to my set up will work well next to the white feet of the stand. I have an LG gl850-b it's been a great monitor to me it's 1440p 144hz and 27inch but i have a feeling when i first use the QD OLED panel i'll be blown away i think the big thing that sold me on it was the size being 34 inch i don't want anything super huge but i now want bigger than 27inch, The contrast and response times are insane and the fact it's not going to have backlight glow/bleed is amazing even though i've not had a big issue with that on my LG.

      @@MuffinMcFluffin well what I do is sign up for fedex and ups online accounts and then set a preferred location for the package to be dropped of. So with mines, all packages are left in the back deck. But you can choose a few different areas that might be better for you.

      If you’re only using it on a pc with a card good enough to to drive it to its full potential, why would you need an hdmi 2.1 port? You certainly don’t buy this for console gaming.

    There’s issue with monitor due to the dell alienware forum something to do software updates and other things. Be careful as Alienware has been putting out a few bad items… check out the Alienware desktop forum before buying. Good Luck.
