Hey Tony! Thanks for the very helpful video. I installed my A129 Pro Duo 4k following your process... mostly. Actually, I'm lazy and scared to take my truck apart so I ran all wires between liner and other trim. The wire can be completely hidden, even around (above) the passenger doors under the rubber door seal from the inside. No need to remove any trim, not even around the driver door. I left the extra rear camera wire tie-wrapped to a metal loop behind my passenger side rear seat.
One thing I should point out: Each fuse receptacle has a +12V side and a load side. I checked mine with a meter. Those fuse taps should be installed so the hot fuse pin receptacle is "opposite" the tap wire. Having the tap wire sticking out to the left works with F66 for BUT F33 has its +12V on the left of the plug. That tap on F33 should be inserted so the wire is to your right. If you put the tap in F33 receptacle with wire to the left, the power to the camera will have to pass thru BOTH fuses. Not a big deal unless the camera plus normal load exceeds the 10A fuse rating.

Thank you VERY MUCH for making this video. I followed your video to install the A129 Plus Duo in my 2014 RAM Express and it came out perfect. The instructions for going though the door jambs were invaluable. My install required going though the firewall to get to the fuse box, but other than that I was able to utilize your instructions totally. Nice video. I wish I found this video before I installed mine. For the back camera I used the right angle end to the camera and the straight plug into the front camera. That way you can bring the rear camera right upto the ceiling. The wire can go along the window chanel. You will need to make a wedge for the rear camera since the top of the rear window has a slight curve inwards. I just cut one of the extra adhesive pad in half and added it to the top of the adhesive pad so the top of the camera is further away from the window. Otherwise the plug will push against the window and will not work. You can run the wire along the headliner and the rubber gasket. It took less than 10 minutes to run and you don't need to remove any interior trims.

Awesome. Realised something after removing the Passenger side grab handle and weather seal. You can actually run the whole cable in the roof liner once you remove the weather seal, less risk of breaking teeth on the covers and floor panels. I ran the “L joint” at the back then worked the straight joint through the roof liner and central pillar between the rear and front door.

Dude, you did a quality install. Although perhaps next time, you’ll wait until you install the back wire to the rear camera first, then set the back rear camera to the window. To rid that pinch of wire between the window seal over interior molding. It works!
Instead of hard wiring, I’m considering using an exterior power source such as a Cellink Neo to run the parking mode or to run another camera.
I currently drive a Toyota Prius and a hard wire is NOT recommended because it’s a hybrid and any messing around with the electrical system will cause problems with the system. Not worth it for me.
I’m just looking for the plug into the cigarette lighter as a power source, then run that external battery when the car is off and set into park mode camera.
Thanks for sharing your video dude 👍🏼

Less wide dash cameras are good to get better view to the licence plates from cars.. than the wider angle dash cameras. You will see when you get your recordings from this camera..I have the same camera on my car.. and is just fantastic. Video quality is more than enough in case of an accident and catching licence plates from the cars.

Very clean install. I have the same camera hardware previously installed on my '14 Ram, now going into my '19. Came here looking for where you sourced your power. Only difference I had on my '14 was I went in the headliner for the rear camera, down the passenger side. Not sure if I will on the '19 or go through the door thresholds like you did. Thanks for the excellent video quality and very good explanation as you went along with the install!

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I would recommend wiring it along the roof liner instead of my method in hindsight just because I feel it’s more direct and uses less cable. Probably less messing around, too.

Great choice.. I have the exact set. Hardwired to use the parking mode. Installation was easy...the only hideous part was to tuck and hide the excess cables. As for the rear cam, I used the 90* connector end toward the cam itself, that way I can raise the cam higher toward the slide rail and run the cable within the slide rail and the rest to the pillar. Much much more cleaner look...you dont even see the cable connector on the rear cam.

You’ll have to tap into wires inside the truck that have power and ground, or run the wires through the firewall to get to the battery. There’s usually some rubber plugs in the firewall with other accessories run through and you can typically utilize those spots to run the wire through.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy

It really depends on your experience and skill level. Also, it was about 90 degrees and humid when I did mine, so that slowed me down haha. Also, if you run the rear camera wire along the headliner instead of along the floor panels like I did, I think you could save a fair amount of time. If you have this video at your disposal and all of the parts you need, you could probably get it done in 2 hours or so. Definitely get it done in 1 evening easily. Routing cables is the most time consuming part.

My cam DOES shut off when I shut the truck down, but I have the G-sensor and motion sensor on. So if anything moves or if the truck gets hit, the cam starts recording. I might actually turn the motion sensor off cause my memory card keeps filling up with a bunch of useless 5 minute videos of a squirrel walking by or some tree branches blowing in the wind and I even have it on the lowest sensitivity setting.

Is that the foward collision warning sensor behind your rearview? If so does the dash cam interfere with it? I have FCW on my 2019 2500 Ram and I remember the dealer being mindful of putting stuff mounted on the windshield near it, I had to hold my ezpass up when I used it until I got a mount and it set my auto braking off and almost shit my pants going through a toll booth and wound up getting a license plate mounted ezpass because of it, but I have been trying to figure out how to mount a dash cam since

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy

No my truck doesn’t have forward collision. Usually that sensor is located in the grille but not sure on the Rams. I believe the one on my truck you are talking about is for the automatic wipers. Even though I’m pretty sure my truck doesn’t have automatic wipers 😂

@@dustintrott776 Sorry I missed that in the first comment lol. The 2500's and 3500's must not have the fuse box behind the knee bolster. Pretty sure it's under the hood on those ones. So you'll have to check the fuse box under the hood to find a switched power and constant power fuse slot that you can tap into, then run your wires through the firewall to the dash cam. Usually there's some other items running through the firewall, or some rubber plugs that can be removed to run your wires in.

Because what’s the point of having a rear sliding window when you can’t open it? 🤣 As far as the panel removal, yes, you could just run it along the headliner or something, but I prefer my cables and wiring to be completely enclosed. My luck the wire would pop out of the headliner.
