The fact that this cam is being compared to cameras which costs twice as much, and almost matches them only just falling short in a couple of minor areas is a huge win for the Viofo in terms of value in my opinion.
@@JC130676 3:43 There is a cap on the fps on the front rear facing camera if you are video capturing from both the front and rear simultaneously thats what he's referring to
The biggest problem with all dashcams that they are so visible from outside. I don't care if the dashcam will record thieves I'm just worried that thieves may break my car only to steal the dashcam itself. This problem is been solved by Mercedes which started to apply an optional built-in dashcam. Every single car sould have at least a special place (with universal dimensions) behind the mirror for applying a dashcam when needed.
I installed this in my car about 6 months ago and its awesome. The video clarity is superb. The 5ghz Wifi is awesome for downloading the videos in the SD Card. Highly recommended!
This was EASILY one of the most helpful and thorough product reviews i have ever seen on youtube. The only slight criticism i have is the night vision aspect of the device(s) was not mentioned, otherwise perfect!
I actually like the smaller field of view because it gives a more accurate picture of distance. For example with a wider angle of view a car can come dangerously close to you but when you view the footage it appears that they are not close to you at all. It can be a little deceiving.
Addicted to watching dash cam videos I want to get front and rear, this seems pretty good for value😅 I'm from Australia, where the weather can get dam hot😊
I have the pro duo and I'm very satisfied with it, the parking mode set to 10 FPS (therefore permanent recording) works very well. I installed the HK3 kit and thanks to it the camera goes into parking mode when the ignition is turned off. And it goes back to normal mode when you start (I set the front camera to 2K@60FPS, having had problems with "missing" images in 30FPS on a previous dashcam. In 4K it's only 30FPS)
Thank you for the feedback - we are working on adding more in-depth content into our videos over time, so we do hope you appreciate the increased effort from our team! Please do continue to point out these things as we do value your feedback in how we can further improve our videos.
I'm doubting you've seen h.265 at 4k playing on a computers 10 years ago. super low bit rate? Also it became a standard in 2016. Maybe you are thinking h.264
It might just be my eyes or my screen but does the footage look kind of dark and maybe not as sharp compared to the other samples of the A129 pro out there on TH-cam. Especially at night its a bit grainy. Could this be improved by Viofo with firmware updates in the future? Either way I’m excited to upgrade my A119 V2 to the A129 pro. Preorder has been placed 👍
Hi Nicolas, hmm - not sure, but we'll definitely take a look. All the sample that we've seen has been great, so we have no doubt that your purchase is a great one. There will be further firmware updates in the future that aims to improve not just the video quality, but the parking mode and more too!
Hello, can you please upload a comparison video for the front A129 Pro recording at 4k30, 2k60, and 1080p120 settings, both for day and night time? I would like to see if the loss in resolution quality is acceptable if we can actually catch a frame in which the license plate isn't blurry. Also, I saw a video on a different channel about the A119 V3 having HDR and that it significantly helps in catching license plate at night time. Does the A129 Pro have HDR mode? Thanks!
Yes, the A129 Pro has an HDR mode, and the quality is very high even in 2K resolution (day and night, however, you have to be ready that at night time, it is possible to miss the details like number plate due to natural reasons - distance to an object, speed of travelling, amount of light, etc.)
9:09 most probably you meant Sony CMOS sensor (not name Seamus) sensor, which isn't CMOS R anyway, but is rather one from the previously mentioned Sony Exmor R sensor series
What I'd really like is an A119 V3 with the 1080p rear camera. From what I've heard, they are soon to release exactly that, in the form of the A129+ model. I would have bought the V3 already if the option to upgrade it to a dual camera system later were available. The thing is, on most displays I'm not seeing a significant difference in image quality between 1440p and 4K. I'm sure the difference would be more noticeable on an actual 4K display, but I don't plan on buying one of those any time soon, so I really don't need 4K, and the difference in file sizes is significant, especially when you're recording more than one camera simultaneously. I do appreciate the extra performance of the upgraded sensor and processor; after all, if all I'm looking for is 1440p, I can still do that with the A129 Pro while also getting a higher framerate (if the rear camera isn't being used). But it's still going to draw more power and create more heat regardless. So I think for that purpose, one would be better off just using a 1440p camera as it was designed to be used. Don't get me wrong, this is a great dash cam and quite a bargain at $250 compared to its more expensive competitors (although, with SD card, polarizing filter, hardwiring kit, and whatever other accessories you might want, it's more like $300+). I just don't think I need 4K for my dash cam yet, the technology probably needs a little time to mature and improve. 4K impacts literally everything related to record time: file size, camera heat, power draw from the battery when in park mode. To me, a 1440p camera just makes a lot more sense right now. Also, not to nitpick, but around 7:34 you said it has a "5 gigahert frequency" but the unit is "gigahertz," not "gigaherts," so a singular gigahertz is still a gigahertz.
Dear John and Katrina, you guys have a great store. I will try to buy all my accessories from you. Great TH-cam channel as well! Thank you for answering all my questions!👍
@@blackboxmycar Hi! Is the mount sold separately? The mounts do different things? I can't find any a129 mounts on your website? some support gps and some don't? why is it so complicated? lol
@@dankyfranky1599 Hi there, it shouldn't be! The mount comes in the box (it's a GPS mount) and you just have to attach that to be back of the unit. Please do contact us at info[at]blackboxmycar.com if you can't find it in your box - we can help!
@@dankyfranky1599 You will need your mount if you'd like to store the A129 when you park. The mount helps you mount it on your windshield, and you can take the dash cam off the mount when you park.
Hi! Thanks for this video! I have a couple of questions. 1.) What is the maximum amount of time the a 129 pro front camera can record? Is it limited only by the size of the micro sd card or is there a limitation built into the camera? 2.) What is the maximum size micro sd card the a 129 pro will support? (front camera.) 3.) If I have a big enough micro sd card, can I record in 4k for an hour? two hours? 4.) I live in a bad neighborhood. How easy is it to store the front unit when not driving? I was thinking maybe in the glove box? 5.) Can I get rid of the white letters and numbers at the bottom of the screen? I'd like a clean image. @blackboxmycar Thank you for answering any of the above questions! I am seriously considering purchasing this for my trip.
Thinking of getting this off your amazon store. Thinking of just getting the pro since I only need the front camera. 1.) how long do I have to return it if I don't like it? 2.) Can I use it during the free return period, or must it remain in the box? Thanks! I want to buy it today!
Hi Franky, lots of great questions. 1) The limitation is based on the size of the microSD card, but for the camera, max is 256gb. You should get about 25-40 hours depending on your bitrate and video quality. 2) 256GB 3) Yep, you'll get even more than that - see #1 4) Yep, you can simply unplug and take it off its mount. It clips off! 5) You can scratch it off or use paint stripper 6) If you purchase off of our Amazon site, you have 30 days. Same thing if you purchase off of our website! But that said, we recommend purchasing off our website as you'll receive it in the same amount of shipping time, but with great support from our team :) 7) You can use it during the free return period!
@@blackboxmycar last last question. Can the a 129 pro use the cigarette/power outlet for power or do I need to mess with the fuses? Thank you for taking the time to answer. I will purchase it from you if I get it.
Hi Wolft, if you're looking specifically for night time recording, we've found that the new VIOFO A129 Plus offers better night time recording as it has the same sensor as the VIOFO A119 V3. We'd say go for the VIOFO A129 Plus!
How do I get my footage to override itself? Meaning if I have a 32gb sd card and it gets full, how would I get it to continue recording by deleting old footage to make space for newer footage? Mine just stops recording when full. Thank you for your time
Question guys. I'm a new truck driver. Want to buy this cam based on all the reviews. Will i be able to take it from truck to truck and set up easily and fast and click record for every trip? I take different trucks each day. Is the mount portable or u have to secure it to one specific car?
Hi Alex, unfortunately the A129 Pro doesn’t come with a suction cup mount that can easily remove from car to car. But there is a workaround, you would have to get additional mounts which would enable you to use the dashcam in different truck
Great informative video you guys well done 👏🏼👏🏼 my question is: can the Camera handle the heat in the middle east! Cause it can reach 113°F in the afternoon 🔥🔥
Hi saraQater, according to the official specs of the VIOFO, the dash cam should be able to withstand that heat. That said, to be on the safe side, we do recommend not parking directly under the sun when possible. 4K recording is a huge load for any dash cam!
I have this cam. If it's 30C and more outside, this cam is shutting down because of the heat inside your car on parking mode. This cam Can't resist to inside car temperature in summer on parking mode. Check on many online forum and everybody experienced the same thing. I thinking to return the cam and buy the non 4K one A129 1080P.
I'm thinking of upgrading to the a129 but not sure if I should get the pro or the plus version. I've seen a couple of videos on YT comparing the Viofo cameras and I think the plus came out with the best overall footage night and day.
If possible, would you please do a quick video on the two aftermarket idea viewers Viofo recommends? I find them a bit confusing to install, and not as easy to use as the one BlackVue makes, for example. Also, a quick review on the Latest firmware 😬🙏 thanks!
Hi there, can you tell us more about the aftermarket idea viewers? Are you referring to the Dash Cam Viewer? We'll dive into doing something about the latest firmware!
I have a problem . We are in Saudi Arabia, the temperature during the day reaches 48 degrees outside, inside a car, it reaches 65 degrees. And also stop recording. The problem (after stopping it will not work even if the temperature drops until you start a car.)😢
Hi there, unfortunately this is correct, for the camera to start recording after exceeding it's heat range, the camera will need to be in normal recording mode. Consider more heat resistant systems like the Thinkware U1000.
there IS one advantage to NOT having as wide of a view. The problem with having a wider angle of view is that it makes everything look further... There have been times when cars nearly rear-ended me and when I looked at the footage, it didn't seem as close when in actuality... that person literally stopped inches away. It's the same reason why side mirrors say "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear", it's because those mirrors have distortion to let you see more... So... because everything looks further away, another car's license plate will be harder to see. I actually prefer that the angle of view is less
Good point Ken! Some camera manufacturers are on top of this, and have dewarping technology specifically so that the footage doesn't look quite so fish-eyed. Our Thinkware Q1000 specifically has this feature.
What’s the “cooling system” used here? More vents for extra passive cooling? Also, if I already have an a129 duo can I use the rear camera from the a129 duo with the a129 pro if I ordered the front a129 pro as a stand-alone unit? And, can I pair my Bluetooth remote that I used with my a129 duo with the a129 pro?
Hi Leo, thanks for the questions. They're great! To answer them: 1) The cooling system is built-in to the dash cam itself (thus it's a bit heavier), but it's to ensure that there is proper ventilation in place for the VIOFO to not overheat. There is also the processor built-in that automatically detects the temperature of the dash cam, so that it can automatically shut off the VIOFO if the temperature gets too high to prevent overheating / damage to your vehicle. 2) You can use the rear dash cam from the VIOFO A129 with the A129 Pro. They are the same rear camera, so go ahead and order just the front camera as a standalone unit. 3) You sure can pair the Bluetooth remote from your A129 Duo with the Pro! VIOFO does a great job with making sure different components are compatible with one another. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to email us at info@blackboxmycar.com.
BlackboxMyCar If this is Alex, thank you and this is the reason why I’ve ordered all of my dash cameras from Blackboxmycar and will continue to order from you guys. Thank you for the explanations!!
Unfortunately you can't add an additional in-cabin camera for this to make this a 3 channel setup if that is what you're asking. There is no in-cabin camera option available either for the VIOFO A129 Pro. If you want a 3-channel option, we'd recommend the VIOFO T-130. Speak to us at info[at]blackboxmycar.com for more info!
Just completed installation of a VIOFO A129 Duo setup. My rear camera is reversing the image; i.e., it appears to be a mirror image - all lettering is backwards, and the vehicle appears to be driving on the left side of the road. (I'm thinking *maybe* I should have run the front-to-rear cable around the driver's side rather than the passenger's side... heh, heh). HELP!
Hi Phantom, we're not quite sure how much TH-cam compresses the quality in our videos, so by all means, it is most likely going to look better in the VIOFO software compared to the ones in our videos. But rest assured, the quality at the end of the day will be very good and will fulfill all of your needs.
I got a Rove R2-4K but I'm going to return it and I'm thinking about this cam instead. The issues with the Rove is that the video is jerky on "4K" as every 5th frame is lagged in recording because they use a 30fps sensor and then skip every four frame to get it to 24fps ( each 1/6th second, you are recording three frames with 1/30th timing and one frame of 1/15th timing.) It looks terrible. Also the recorded files overlap by 1 second making lots of additional work for me if I want to stitch them together to create a longer video. For the Viofo, are the video files seamless when they are recorded in the 1 to 10 minutes sizes?
An interesting review. A couple of queries (from one who uses other products at present): How reliable are the ‘adhesive mounts’? I’m used to mounts that use ‘suckers’ rather than adhesive. Suckers tend to be vulnerable to dropping off as the weather changes, air leakage etc. Also, do they automatically switch on and off as the USB power supply switches on and off? OK in cars that continuously feed 12V when their power is on; not nice if it’s interrupted occasionally with auto engine stop/restart. Although it looks good that GPS is used for time settings (as well as co-ordinates), what happens when GPS is not available, due to obstructions ( buildings, trees, in tunnels etc)? Most products still record timing, in the absence of position & speed in those situations.
We generally prefer adhesive mounts as they stick to the windshields a lot better and stronger compared to suction cup mounts, especially if you're driving along rocky terrain, suction cup mounts tend to be more shaky. The downside to adhesive mounts, however, is that they are harder to remove (but a heat gun goes a long way). Yes, the USB power supply will automatically feed power to your dash cam through the 12V, but we do recommend hardwiring it into your fusebox so the power is continuous. If you're simply plugging it through the 12V, it's just not enough power for the dash cam to keep recording even after your engine is off. GPS will still continue to record even when obstructed, similar to how you see that your coordinates are still available on Google Maps even when you don't necessarily have a signal.
This does not have Cloud features, meaning you can only pair to your phone when you're less than 20 feet away from the dash cam (and you would need to manually turn the Wifi feature on, etc.)
I'm in the market for a 2 way dashcam right now. The one thing I have to prioritize is a good parking mode. I street park a lot and have had people tapping my bumpers. Would this be a good setup? Or are there better ones?
It would be, when combined with the 3-wire hardwiring kit. We would also suggest having a look at our top picks from Thinkware as well! (as these offer memory partitioning for the separation of your video files).
I am looking for a Dash cam that helps me when parked on my street. I am looking to hardwire it but i just want to know how long it will last recording for when parked. would love it to last around 15hours ish. any help much appreciated
Hi! Purchased this pro duo but didn’t get the free SD card mentioned here. Also, please confirm, saw a review saying that, you need to plug the power (hardwire/hk3) directly to the Dashcam to utilize the full parking mode. So, you can’t use the GPS and full parking mode at the same time? since you need to transfer the power cable from the GPS to dashcam. Thanks.
Hi JB357, the free SD card offer was a seasonal promotion. Unfortunately since the review, we have stopped offering it as we ran out of SD cards to provide to our customers. That said, GPS is built-in to the VIOFO A129 Pro itself, so it's not something that will affect the parking mode as you will have it after hardwiring it.
Just got my 129 Pro Duo installed today. But the installer didn't use the hard wire kit. He used the USB (lighter) plug in. I bought it specifically FOR parking mode. My car was vandalized while parked. I want future ones on camera. Will the USB (lighter) work if my car charges my cell phone in that lighter charger, while the car is off? I know friends cars only charge when car is running. Mine charges my phone when it's off. Will the camera work then also?
No, it must be hardwired to your car's battery or fusebox. I dont mean to sound sexist as woman dont ever speak with these shark installer or salesmen without a man present. He also has to have some knowledge of whats going on.
Everything required for the dash cam to work is included in the box. You will however need to have either an external battery or hardwiring kit to use parking mode without the camera draining the car battery. A full list of what's included in the box can be found here; www.blackboxmycar.com/collections/all/products/viofo-a129-pro-duo-2-channel-dash-cam-with-gps?variant=30270170136631
Hi question when in parking mode, does the camera go into a sleep or Off mode? And what would be the optimal settings for parking mode. I looked and what it captures and it has several clips through out the day while it’s just sitting at a parking lot. How can I minimize this.
Hi Jose, when in parking mode, the dash cam is still on - it does not go into sleep or off mode. Parking mode continues to record throughout the day, and will automatically segregate files that are considered "Event or Motion Detection". If you would not like that to happen (which we absolutely do not recommend), then you can turn it off within the app settings itself. That's why the feature "loop recording" exists within the VIOFO, so that all of your clips that are just of your vehicle sitting in the parking lot would eventually be re-recorded over time. Do let us know if you have any questions at info[at]blackboxmycar.com.
@@blackboxmycar thank you for the reply. Another question for you my what are the best setting for so the video is smooth and continues, cause right now when i see a replay it is like frame by frame.
Nice review! I would like to know if the G-Sensor & Motion Detection system work on both cameras in VIOFO A129 Pro Duo? I mean, do I get parking surveillance with the back camera also?

Hello, I'm new to dashcams...never had one before, and I'm uncertain about one thing. If you go with one that had motion detection and/or parking mode....will or must the camera remain on permanently? What I mean is....if you have it hardwired fir these features...is there an option or way to turn it completely off when the car is parked in the garage overnight or for an extended period of time?
Hi UKSportsFan, yes there is a way to just turn off parking mode completely even after you hardwire it. All you have to do is switch it off in the settings when you don't want parking mode to be on.
I’m trying to understand how to get the footage from the dash cam to my phone. I have an iPad with cellular connection and I can use it as a hotspot for the dash cam. So where does the footage go to? Does it go to the Viofo app on my phone?
To use Wifi connection, firstly enable the Wifi function of dashcam, find the network from your phone WLAN list and connect it, after that you may open the VIOFO app to get preview, share and download.

Hi. I have a VIOFO A129 DUO dash cam hard wired in my car and can't figure out how to permanently have the mic on. When I press the mic on button, and turn off the car, the mic is muted after I start the car again. Any tips?
Hi there, no - when you're powering the dash cam using the cigarette lighter, you will not have parking mode. You need to either hardwire / install your dash cam using an OBD cable.
Hi Antonie, to confirm, are you asking whether the VIOFO dash cam can record audio from within the vehicle? The answer is yes! On top of this, if you're asking whether the VIOFO can record the interior, then we do have an IR/in-cabin version available with the VIOFO A129 dash cam (predecessor to the VIOFO A129 Pro Duo) that you can view here: www.blackboxmycar.com/collections/all/products/viofo-a129-ir-dual-channel-dash-cam
Do I have any special concerns when hardwiring these guys to a hybrid? I have a 2020 Honda Insight I'm interested in enabling the parking recording in if I can.
My A129 works great , except for parking mode. No what the settings, in event mode it records all night long videos of nothing. No movement of any kind, but at the same time, I've missed footage as it didn't start recording, like the guy parked behind me, doesn't record him walking out past my car or into his, it starts recording his car taking off. The sensitivity setting in parking mode seems to do nothing, and it also appears that buffered recording isn't working either. The next thing it started doing was only recording the front camera, around 4 am say after recording all night long, all the sudden there's no rear camera recordings. I covered up both cameras so they could not detect any motion, and still it recorded all night long.
I am thinking of getting the dual pro, but when I look in this video (12:40) it seem that even the 4k resolution will not let you read the license plate of the car ahead. Is this in the TH-cam video, or is it really that bad?
@@blackboxmycar Great. I think I'll be ordering one Now with the narrower FOV, can I recycle my A129 CPL, or will there have to be an updated one released for the A129 Pro?

Hi John, what issues are you facing? If you do run into any other issues, we do encourage you to reach out to us at info[at]blackboxmycar.com. We help users troubleshoot their issues.
Locked files must manually be deleted in the cam or by connecting it to the computer (can't delete locked files in the app). There is no partition for locked files, and the camera will never loop record over locked files, meaning your SDcard will eventually fill up with locked files if you aren't diligent about manually deleting them. Also, parking mode events are recorded for 45 seconds and then it stops recording until that motion clears and new motion is detected. I've missed parking mode events because of this.
Hi Abe, that's correct - locked files are meant to be locked for your security. That's why we recommend users to reformat their cards every couple of months for this purpose, and also to switch out their SD cards every year to optimize their performance.
There is a low voltage protection level that automatically cuts off the dash cam if levels are too low. This would only occur if the car had not been driven for several days and the car battery was not able to recharge
@@blackboxmycar awesome thank you for the response. I’m now trying to figure out another issue if you can help? I have the setting to “Auto Event Detection” with Parking G sensor high and motion set to medium. I’ve tested this out by walking past the vehicle and creating a “impact” with my hand. When I walk around and look at the camera the red record light is flashing. The manual indicates that it is not recording when flashing. I was wondering if it was perhaps the constant I was tapped into but the fact that I’m getting power to the camera makes me question it. It seems to pick up recording again once I get into the vehicle/unlock it without turning it on. Any thoughts?

Hi Santiago, you cannot use a SIM card with the VIOFO A129 Pro. It does not have Cloud features. I'm assuming you meant SD card! We always recommend the SanDisk A1, and you can use up to 256GB in size.
Hi Nathaniel, great question. Setting aside the parking mode features, there are a couple of other features that the VIOFO won't offer, including: - No ADAS and road safety notifications - No Cloud features (for backups and more) - No anti-file corruption measures for file management - No desktop viewer for videos That said, VIOFO dash cams are still great for those looking for a quality camera that records really pretty videos. Thanks for asking!
I bought it, but there's no mount. It doesn't come with one? The mounts I see on Amazon do different things? How do I know what to get? Can't find any mounts for the a129 on your site? @blackboxmycar
You could use two sets to make a 4-channel set up but that being said you would not be able to view/control all cameras simultaneously on the VIOFO app.
You don't need to read the "point" in H.264 or H.265. Just say, "H 265" codec. Also mistake at 6:30 "H 2 point 64". Honest mistake, but its ok, I know YT doesn't allow you to edit once published.
Hi Pisces, VIOFO doesn't have Cloud features, but if you're looking for that, do look into either BlackVue or Thinkware dash cams. They have Cloud features that can allow you to look at your car from your phone from your home as long as they're connected to a mobile hotspot :)
Hi Bird Man, the front camera actually has the video output slot to do this. We don't typically recommend this to our customers vs. getting a separate backup camera system instead. But that said, give it a shot! That said, our VIOFO A129 Pro just came back in stock on our website today :)
Hey Bird Man, because dash cams weren't built for the purpose to use as a backup camera, so you may run into issues like the footage timing out as you're reversing, or your LCD screen not properly resized. That said, these are all speculations as we've never fully tested this ourselves, so we do encourage you to give it a shot regardless to see how it works out for you!
Hi, I have a question about firmware updates for the Viofo A129 Pro. Can I update the firmware over Wi-Fi using the App on my smartphone? I ask because, I do not have a Windows PC, or Mac computer to download the update onto an SD card. Sorry for the dumb question. -Chuck
Hi Chuck, good question. It's possible to update the firmware over Wi-Fi, but in our experience, it hasn't been very reliable. From what customers have mentioned as well, it doesn't work well especially on the iPhone. We would recommend downloading the install over an SD card, but if you really can't use a computer, then give the Wi-Fi updates a shot and see how that works out for you. We're here to help!
@@blackboxmycar Yeah right, Try explaining to a normal person why you choose to own, and use a Google Chromebook laptop, instead of a Windows PC, or Mac. Lol They'll give you the Jackie Chan "what face".
I’m trying to figure out an update for my dash cams. With VIOFO, there are a lot of complaints that the app won’t connect to use it for wireless (they have to be offline/airplane mode, which 🤷🏼♀️). Does anyone have this dash cam that can say the app actually works now? Apparently the developer isn’t in any hurry to get in contact with anyone.
Hi WolfFreeBlue, we use the VIOFO app on the regular and we can confirm that we do run into some issues at times (even to this day). To be completely honest with you, the app has its issues, and we do relay feedback to VIOFO on the regular. They are fixing it slowly but surely. That said, it is entirely possible to not use the app at all, ie. you can change the settings directly on the LCD screen of your VIOFO device, and you can also just plug the SD card / dash cam to your laptop to view the footage directly. Hi ChURG !, you can definitely flip them inwards towards the cabin, but keep in mind that if you're now working with a rear camera with IR functionalities, then you're going to get pretty dark (and frankly unusable) footage at night when there's not much light. What we recommend is to check out the A129 Duo IR on our website, which is what you're potentially looking for: www.blackboxmycar.com/products/viofo-a129-ir-dual-channel-dash-cam

The fact that this cam is being compared to cameras which costs twice as much, and almost matches them only just falling short in a couple of minor areas is a huge win for the Viofo in terms of value in my opinion.
There is a reason why it is half priced. Only one of the two cameras work!

The biggest problem with all dashcams that they are so visible from outside. I don't care if the dashcam will record thieves I'm just worried that thieves may break my car only to steal the dashcam itself. This problem is been solved by Mercedes which started to apply an optional built-in dashcam. Every single car sould have at least a special place (with universal dimensions) behind the mirror for applying a dashcam when needed.
with my last car... I had a dashcam for 6 years... it never got stolen. Some are more discreet than others
Never heard a thief go for a dashcam

Hi Jacob, thank you so much for your compliments. I will be sure to pass it along to the team :)
I actually like the smaller field of view because it gives a more accurate picture of distance. For example with a wider angle of view a car can come dangerously close to you but when you view the footage it appears that they are not close to you at all. It can be a little deceiving.
True and b when showing it in court or cop try might mot believe you

I want to get front and rear, this seems pretty good for value😅
I'm from Australia, where the weather can get dam hot😊
I have the pro duo and I'm very satisfied with it, the parking mode set to 10 FPS (therefore permanent recording) works very well.
I installed the HK3 kit and thanks to it the camera goes into parking mode when the ignition is turned off. And it goes back to normal mode when you start (I set the front camera to 2K@60FPS, having had problems with "missing" images in 30FPS on a previous dashcam. In 4K it's only 30FPS)
Love your reviews just purchased the the VIOFO 129 pro. Best dash cam for the money

Syruz e VIOFO A129 PRO 4K does have buffered recording. It does not have incident notification.
6:30 if you device cant play h.265, its time to upgrade your potato, ive seen computers 10 years old play hvec fine
It also seems to be pixelated on some of the clips , especially the darker ones.
Yeah. Noticed that too. The rear camera was mostly pixel free but the front camera footage seemed very grainy
Thought the same thing
Hi Adam, thanks for your feedback. Yes - this is what the A129 Plus model is filling that gap. We'll have more news for you soon on that.

(front camera.)
3.) If I have a big enough micro sd card, can I record in 4k for an hour?

2) 256GB
3) Yep, you'll get even more than that - see #1
4) Yep, you can simply unplug and take it off its mount. It clips off!
5) You can scratch it off or use paint stripper
6) If you purchase off of our Amazon site, you have 30 days. Same thing if you purchase off of our website! But that said, we recommend purchasing off our website as you'll receive it in the same amount of shipping time, but with great support from our team :)
7) You can use it during the free return period!

Hi Alex, unfortunately the A129 Pro doesn’t come with a suction cup mount that can easily remove from car to car. But there is a workaround, you would have to get additional mounts which would enable you to use the dashcam in different truck
Hello there just bough my viofo A129 pro duo 4K and any recommendation on wich SD card to buy ? ?? what brand and if 256 gb works ?? thanks
Hi Jose,
The A129 pro duo is compatible up to 256GB. The SanDisk Ultra A1 works well with this dashcam :)
BlackboxMyCar thank you so much i really really appreciate it
No problem, thanks for watching our videos :)
BlackboxMyCar VLC Media Viewer and Dashcam Viewer. Thanks.
Gotcha, sounds good - we will put it in our plans to do something for them in the future.
It has a fan.
Seriously? That would be awesome, but wouldn’t a small cpu style cooling fan cause interference with the onboard mic?
Hi Leo, thanks for the questions. They're great! To answer them:
1) The cooling system is built-in to the dash cam itself (thus it's a bit heavier), but it's to ensure that there is proper ventilation in place for the VIOFO to not overheat.

Does the video quality look better in the Viofo software than in this TH-cam video?
Hi Phantom, we're not quite sure how much TH-cam compresses the quality in our videos, so by all means, it is most likely going to look better in the VIOFO software compared to the ones in our videos. But rest assured, the quality at the end of the day will be very good and will fulfill all of your needs.
i really can't decide VIOFO A129 Pro Duo and 70Mai a800s. which one is the best in term price-performance-durability, which one will u choose?
We prefer the Viofo!
Hi Roaming50, the video files are indeed seamless and record in 1 to 10 minute sizes depending on what you select within the settings.
Is this attached with ur phone like I can watch from my house if my truck in yard or no ?
Thinkware or Blackvue for parking mode. No one else is even close to them in effectiveness.
I enabled GPS and stamps on the video but I have no Geo-location in bottom left corner on my A129 Pro, why ???
For the A129 Pro, Geo-location is only going to show through the online PC viewer!
I am looking for a Dash cam that helps me when parked on my street. I am looking to hardwire it but i just want to know how long it will last recording for when parked. would love it to last around 15hours ish. any help much appreciated
When connected to the car battery (parking mode), does it consume a lot? Do I risk the car not starting after 3 days I don't use it?
No, if installed correctly the camera will stop recording if it detects the car battery is getting low
Is the rear cam wired to the front?or do the connect wirelessly?
There is no wireless rear camera on the market today, the rear camera is wired to the front camera for data transfer and power.
Is everything I need included or do I have to buy "extras"? My car is a VW SportWagen 2018. Does it have USB or it uses the cigarette lighter only?
Everything required for the dash cam to work is included in the box. You will however need to have either an external battery or hardwiring kit to use parking mode without the camera draining the car battery. A full list of what's included in the box can be found here;

@@blackboxmycar What if I don't want the "parking mode"? my car has a camera in the back. All I will need the dashcam for is to record my trips.

Hi question when in parking mode, does the camera go into a sleep or
Off mode?

Is there any option to inactivate the screen while the camera works in order not to distract me during the driving?

Hi there, no - when you're powering the dash cam using the cigarette lighter, you will not have parking mode. You need to either hardwire / install your dash cam using an OBD cable.
Not sure if you mentioned.. but does this come with audio from inside the cabin?
Hi Antonie, to confirm, are you asking whether the VIOFO dash cam can record audio from within the vehicle? The answer is yes!
On top of this, if you're asking whether the VIOFO can record the interior, then we do have an IR/in-cabin version available with the VIOFO A129 dash cam (predecessor to the VIOFO A129 Pro Duo) that you can view here: www.blackboxmycar.com/collections/all/products/viofo-a129-ir-dual-channel-dash-cam
Viafo a129 Pro Duo OR 70 Mai A800 ?
Do I have any special concerns when hardwiring these guys to a hybrid? I have a 2020 Honda Insight I'm interested in enabling the parking recording in if I can.
Hey Nexus, no special concerns here. We install in Hybrids all the time. We do recommend using a battery pack though!
Hi Adi, it *may* be the TH-cam quality output, but we're not sure. Have you tried changing the video output to 4K?
Probably an obvious question, can I use the a129 duo mount already on my windshield with this a129 pro duo?
Yup, you certainly can!
yes
Is the rear camera different then my original A129 Duo?
Can I buy just the A129 Pro front unit to upgrade my whole setup?
Hi Michael, the rear camera for the A129 Duo is the exact same as the one on the A129 Pro Duo. You can absolutely just buy the A129 Pro front unit!
@@blackboxmycar Great. I think I'll be ordering one
Now with the narrower FOV, can I recycle my A129 CPL, or will there have to be an updated one released for the A129 Pro?
@@mikeluscher159 Your CPL filter will work for both :)
Does the A129 pro fit the A129 mount? I know the pro glues permanently to the windshield
I like the fact that the Thinkware U1000 pushes any new detections to your phone. does A129 Pro duo not do that?
Hi Gregory, the A129 Pro Duo does not offer Cloud features for the notifications that you speak of. Thinkware and BlackVue dash cams do!
It does, IF it’s connected to a hotspot in your vehicle. Otherwise the cloud features are worthless.
Apparently these have so many issues...why does it have such good reviews...i dont wanna spend an arm and a leg for a dash cam but i dont want a cheap dud either.
Hi John, what issues are you facing? We'd love to help you troubleshoot, but problems typically appear when users haven't update their VIOFO dash cams to the latest firmware (which we always encourage users to do).
What keeps the car battery from not being drained when hard wired for park monitor?
There is a low voltage protection level that automatically cuts off the dash cam if levels are too low. This would only occur if the car had not been driven for several days and the car battery was not able to recharge
so, what is the highest resolution for the front cam if you're using dual channel? 1080p/60fps? or 1440p/30fps?
Hi Danny, the highest resolution with dual channel for the front cam is still 4K :)
If I have this dash cam hardwired to my car fuse will it drain my battery?
I just bought this from you guys wondering if I can use the SanDisk 512GB Extreme PRO UHS-I SDXC Memory Card? Thanks!
Hey there, you need a microSD card for a dash cam, so your memory card will not work for it.
Just to add, we typically recommend the SanDisk A1 cards for our customers.
how do you change betgween H265 and H264?
Hi Skip, that video setting can be adjusted within the video resolution setting itself on the VIOFO.
I just hardwired for parking mode. How does the camera alert you if there was an event?
Hi Tyler, it alerts you through motion / impact detection, and it'll alert you after you get back into your car with audio notifications.
@@blackboxmycar awesome thank you for the response.
I’m now trying to figure out another issue if you can help?
Everything works and records when the car is on and driving but doesn’t appear to record any events when the car is parked.
Hi Tyler, it may be your installation. Please reach out to our support team - they're going to be able to help you with this technical issue! The email is info[at]blackboxmycar.com.
My unit absolutely hates the Arizona summer!! Keeps shutting off due to excessive heat.
Hi JP, oh no - that should not be happening. Did you purchase from us at BlackboxMyCar? If that's the case, please email your order # to us at info[at]blackboxmycar.com and we'll help you out.
Would it be possible to run this using the Cellink Neo 6 and still get parking mode?
Yes, an external battery pack works also.
What Micro SD card would you recommend?
Hi John, for the VIOFO A129 Pro, we recommend the SanDisk Ultra A1 card, which we talk more about here: www.blackboxmycar.com/pages/sd-cards
You can find the memory card on our collections page here: www.blackboxmycar.com/collections/memory-cards
How would you attach a duo to a convertible when the top is down???
Hi there, this will depend on the vehicle that you're using. Can you please reach out to us at info[at]blackboxmycar.com?
Hello which sim card and size works better for VIOFO A129 Pro 4K DashCam?
Hi Santiago, you cannot use a SIM card with the VIOFO A129 Pro. It does not have Cloud features. I'm assuming you meant SD card! We always recommend the SanDisk A1, and you can use up to 256GB in size.
@@blackboxmycar lol yes sorry SD card. Thank you so much!!!
Hi there, have you tried a 512GB Micro SD Card with the A129 Pro yet? If so, does it work?
We have not yet tried with this microSD card and it should not be compatible, unfortunately.
Setting aside BVs capacity to give out parking mode notification, what other feature does BV or TW have that VIOFO 129 Pro Duo doesn't?
Hi Nathaniel, great question. Setting aside the parking mode features, there are a couple of other features that the VIOFO won't offer, including:
- No ADAS and road safety notifications
- No Cloud features (for backups and more)
- No anti-file corruption measures for file management
- No desktop viewer for videos
That said, VIOFO dash cams are still great for those looking for a quality camera that records really pretty videos. Thanks for asking!
I bought it, but there's no mount. It doesn't come with one? The mounts I see on Amazon do different things? How do I know what to get? Can't find any mounts for the a129 on your site? @blackboxmycar
Hi Danky Franky, there should be a mount for this. Can you please reach out to our team at info[at]blackboxmycar.com? We'll help you out!
@@blackboxmycar Never mind lol! I'm dumb. I didn't realize they were two pieces. Thanks again!
Haha, we're here to help!
Can this be turned into a 4-channel setup with two sets?
You could use two sets to make a 4-channel set up but that being said you would not be able to view/control all cameras simultaneously on the VIOFO app.
You don't need to read the "point" in H.264 or H.265. Just say, "H 265" codec. Also mistake at 6:30 "H 2 point 64". Honest mistake, but its ok, I know YT doesn't allow you to edit once published.
Hi Y Woo, that's good to know. We'll make a note for the future - thanks!
Thanks for the video, also do they have one where u can look at your car from your phone from your home
Hi Pisces, VIOFO doesn't have Cloud features, but if you're looking for that, do look into either BlackVue or Thinkware dash cams. They have Cloud features that can allow you to look at your car from your phone from your home as long as they're connected to a mobile hotspot :)
@@blackboxmycar thank you❤
Could the video of the rear camera be connected to a screen in my car so I can use it also as a back up cam? Thanks
Hi Bird Man, the front camera actually has the video output slot to do this. We don't typically recommend this to our customers vs. getting a separate backup camera system instead. But that said, give it a shot!
That said, our VIOFO A129 Pro just came back in stock on our website today :)
@@blackboxmycar Thanks! Why do you recommend a separate rear cam?
Hey Bird Man, because dash cams weren't built for the purpose to use as a backup camera, so you may run into issues like the footage timing out as you're reversing, or your LCD screen not properly resized. That said, these are all speculations as we've never fully tested this ourselves, so we do encourage you to give it a shot regardless to see how it works out for you!
I have a Kenwood stereo in my suv...apparently the kenwood dash cam can use the screen.
Also to add, that was not a dumb question :) In fact, it's a very good question!

Sabe me informar se tem a opção para mudar o idioma para a LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA (Brasil)?
Let's just say there are ways around it!
Overall, the dash cam is the main selling point, and we stand by the quality of it 100%. If you have any other questions, just ask us at info[at]blackboxmycar.com.
Can i flip 119v3 or 129 pro camera inwards towards cabin ?
Hi ChURG !, you can definitely flip them inwards towards the cabin, but keep in mind that if you're now working with a rear camera with IR functionalities, then you're going to get pretty dark (and frankly unusable) footage at night when there's not much light. What we recommend is to check out the A129 Duo IR on our website, which is what you're potentially looking for: www.blackboxmycar.com/products/viofo-a129-ir-dual-channel-dash-cam
Do you think it's possible to get h.265 in A129 Pro?
