"This is like my skillet that went to Vietnam, came home, had some serious issues, and is now homeless" Well damn, that was pretty dark for a pancake video... Here's my thumbs up, dammit.
I usually get Kodiak buttermilk in bulk (NOT THE CARB BS). I use 3/4 cup of almond milk and a dash of cinnamon. Makes 2 servings 400 calories with 4 servings of sugar free maple. My go to breakfast
Pro tip for protein pancakes: usually they're too dry when you add egg whites or protein powder, but adding fat free cottage cheese makes them super moist and fluffy
Not really. Like Rem does in the video, I recommend blending it up so they’re are no cure chunks. You especially can’t taste it if you add sweetener, vanilla extract, and protein powder to the mix
Kodiak is amazing. If you are worried about protein..just add a scoop of protein powder in the batter and use milk and not water. I use unsweetened almond milk. I have made pancakes using that mix before with just water and it has never came out looking like that. I do now just make protein waffles with the mix. It is easier for me. I freeze them for meal prep too, perfect for the confection oven.
Kodiak cakes are great for more than pancakes. I use it for muffins and quick breads. Even works for biscuits. Always make the pancakes fluffy by whisking egg whites and folding in.
Seriously? Been on a lifelong search for reasonably tasty alternatives to some of my most favorite fattening breakfast foods. I've tried all things Kodiak...slapping and amazing are not adjectives I would use to describe them. The search continues...
@@rkipphorn Idk about that. The first time I went from regular to Kodiak, I actually loved them more. The whole grain is enjoyable to me. I guess not everyone's cup of tea
Bro you murdered those chocolate kodiak cakes. Mine never come out looking like that. They are honestly one of my favorite pancakes to make when in a hurry
His aren't the best.. He manipulates the macros lol. Just do ONE serving of the Kodak cakes and add pb2/1 egg white/scoop of protein.. You're good.. tastes even better lol
Did anybody else notice that the Private Selection stack had much bigger cakes in a shorter stack and Remington's recipe had much smaller pancakes in a taller stack? I only notice because I've made Rem's pancakes many times and I always get 4-5 larger pancakes.
ya. I eat the Kodiak and Krustiez pretty regularly. I use egg whites instead of water and generally make waffles versus pancakes. It doubles the protein and only adds 130 calories or so. It also makes the batter much thicker and better if you mix with egg whites. Add some sugar free syrup (maybe fruit) and you're good to go. The marco's are a little high. Maybe 700 calories with some fruit added in but it is pretty filling and I can go 6 to 7 hours without being hungry. His calories are definitely lower but at some point you don't want to mix from scratch everything you eat and if you're actually counting your calories you can make it work.
I'm surprised you didn't include Carbquik in there, its probably one of the lowest calorie mixes out there w/ decent protein per serving & for me personally has the most authentic buttermilk taste out of all the brands.
Love me some Kodiak cakes. Get the protein flapjacks microwave cups (s'mores is my favorite), add 25g whey powder, 80g of water, mix, microwave for 50 seconds..slightly under done. 43g Carbs / 8g Fat / 31g Protein. 367 calories. Deeelish. It will overflow slightly so put down a paper towel or plate or something when you microwave it.
Rem hey bud, Walmart has some sugar free apple pie filling and cherry pie filling (sweetened with Splenda) 35 calories per serving which is 85g. Possibly something good for future recipes? Pies! I use them to top the pancakes 🤤
Rem, that sweetener you use has 4 calories per gram. It’s only listed as zero calories because a serving size is 1 gram and they can round down. The amount you’re adding in this video has some pretty significant calories. If you want to use a granulated sweetener, look into picking up some Swerve, it’s actually 0 calorie. Or, if you want to save some money, get some pure sucralose. You just have to be careful with the portion sizes with the later because it’s 600x stronger than sugar
Make the kodiak cakes with egg beaters and cashew almond protein milk and you've got a winner. High in protein, nice consistency. I also like adding PB Fit for more protein and flavor
I’ll stick to my 2 protein bars and Greek yogurt for all of 460 cals / 52g Pro / 46g Carb / 14g Fat / 10g Fiber Or the homemade anabolic pancakes/French toast
I have been loving the trader Joes proteins pancakes, macros aren't exactly what you would want, but I only eat them on the weekend. One thing I've noticed, when using a measuring cup the consistency of the batter is thicker and more like you'd expect; but if you use a scale the batter is watery. There is some purposeful miss labeling going on with these protein pancakes, because they know that anyone buying them are going to look at the label. What they are hoping is that you never actually use a scale. Because when you scoop out 1/3 cup up powder it's really difficult to do without packing the powder. So if it say 38 G in 1/3 cups but you scoop it out of the box you'll probably be more like 45/50g. So my suggestion would be to cut down on the amount of water if you make these using a scale.
You are so right pancakes are just so damn easy to do on your own. But the dry ingredients in the bowl the night before. Keep the eggs out to get room temperature. Finish it up in the morning by adding the milk and a little butter into the dry mix done!
I freaking love the Kruskteaz Blueberry Protein Pancakes. I add a scoop of protein to the mix and 1/2 a cup of pumpkin and they are seriously better than Cracker Barrel.
The self made pancakes were a little smaller to be honest though. Id say there wasnt that much of a difference in total volume compared to the "private collections" sample for example.
I haven't had much luck with anabolic pancakes, only waffles. Also, I like flour better than coconut flour. Anabolic Waffles: 45g protein powder (casein) 15g protein powder (whey) 30g self-raising flour 3g (1 teaspoon) baking powder 120g egg whites 150g unsweetened almond milk Per Waffle: Calories: 70 Total Fat: 0.5g Carbs: 5g Protein: 11g
It’s all about that water to pancake mix ratio. I’ve found more times than not I have to add much less water than what the box recommends for a fluffier pancake
I just use a scoop of protein powder, two whole eggs, and two tablespoons of almond or coconut flour. Blend and you get three 8 inch pancakes with around 37 grams of protein, 18 grams of good fat, and maybe about 10 grams of carbs. You can then use real maple syrup which will fill in the carbs in your macro breakdown.
@@TheMythicalAce Just don't drown it. ; ) I also like honey personally because I can use less and there are more micronutrient and anti oxidant properties to go with it. Buckwheat honey is the best, JMHO.
I could put four tablespoons of syrup on my pancakes and still not even come close to drowning it. The sugar-free syrups are usually 10 calories per tablespoon. That means I could have ten tablespoons of sugar-free syrup, or just one tablespoon of the regular stuff with sugar. It's a no-brainer for me.
They're great! Definitely needs less water than the directions state and the amount from one bag to the next varies, which drives me nuts. So easy to make and tasty though!
Since I do a lot of pancakes (my own mix with things like banana, sweet potato and pumpkin mixed in to sweeten up) I use a rectangular GRIDDLE. It cooks 'em up WAY better. Also I use whole grain wheat flour, not coconut. And add baking powder to fluff them up, and vanilla. I now consider pancakes kinda like SMOOTHIES.
