      In my case, the customer lies and went to corporate. Corporate forced my boss to fire me, even though he didn't want to fire me. So much so, he didn't even even use the word when letting me go.

    I like how you touch on these stressful topics in motivating way!! Its not always fun to talk about. One thing i noticed is after getting fired a lot of times your former coworkers get very vague and awkward when you contact them. These are people you bonded with and had great conversations with before.
    I had contacted a few coworkers after getting fired to see if I can find out why I was fired. All I got was "Well good luck on your next job". "Im sure you'll do great". I could never dig into the real reason.. Its like they want nothing to do with you.

    • @myemmotion
      @myemmotion  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you so much for saying this. To be honest I've been told by a few people that I shouldn't make videos on these subjects since it's controversial and "negative". But I see it in a way you see it, such topics should be normalized. Literary everyone has been fired at least once, there is nothing to be ashamed of, it's a stressful enough already for us to live it in silence!
      And I completely agree with you. Somehow there is this stigma associated to firing which needs to be broken! It's also a moment when you see people through. Colleagues who you consider your workmates eventually turn out to be hypocrites, most will continue supporting "the management" and turning their back at you. Until it happens to them...

      I'm also glad that you have mentioned that about new profesional opportunities because my gut has been telling me that I need to be at the job that has been asking me to go work for with awesome benefits and great pay and only problem I had with the offer is that I have to travel. I'm totally up for it now. I will let go of my fears, and step out of my comfort zone, and I shall prosper.
      I just have a grudge to those "bully's" who feel entitled because of their positions. They don't know how much they affect people who don't know how to defend themselves or who have lower self esteem. It's really unfair to the employees and the company's growth.
      I won't be escalating my removal because Ive decided I will not waste my time with them since I have moved on to bigger and better.

    I have never left a job without 2 weeks notice, but when I got home today I noticed an email from the temp agency stating please call asap. I called and was told that my contract has canceled 6 months prior to its end date? No reason given, at least nothing real. Unbelievable, my manager wished me a good weekend, and then called the temp agency and told them to fire me?

      Hi there! First things first, and you really need to change the way of viewing this. It is nothing similar to a "humiliation". It was someone's decision which you had absolutely no influence on. It doesn't make you any less as a professional! It is a healing process, but the sooner you start moving on the better and first step is accepting things as they are.

They didn't want to meet me in person but announced it on the phone. There was no aftercare or anything. Just a month or two after I started my study leave, they hired new workers. I visited the workplace just recently before the coronavirus, and they asked me very strange questions, like "are you sure you will come back?", "are you sure you will stay?". There was no free workstation for me. It was very strange. I think they didn't want me to come back, and this situation with coronavirus was the perfect opportunity to get rid off me. Lost in Translation As you said the situation due to coronavirus required laying off people. In your case it was much easier for them, since you were on your leave and they didn’t “face you” in person. You shouldn’t think about it as something against you! No matter how much effort one puts into the job, most employers don’t ever thinks of that or remember that while making a decision to fire someone. They just do whatever might be convenient to THEM.

    I would advise anyone facing employer criticism for their performance to plan their exit strategy right away. YOu immediately feel empowered and if they don't fire you then you can go or stay of your own volition, if they do fire you, you have irons in the fire already. Just believe that if you are let go it is because you were wrong for the job or you just didn't fit in enough to the company culture or team comfortably. In that case, you would h ave been miserable anyway and sooner or later you would have chucked the towel in as things got worse over time. I started a new permanent job three months ago, something I felt I had always wanted to do, and am already sending out CV's to other employers as of last weekend. I don't hate the job at all, but I also don't think I will ever be great at it either. I discovered that this job doesn't and won't draw upon my skills adequately enough as it is turning out to be a mainly data base entry admin job on steroids - not the engaging job I thought it might become where I would input my own thoughts and professional judgement. It also has very little autonomy and the micromanagement is starting to feel suffocating for me. I spend most of my time holed up in a booked meeting room when I can. My new boss has already extended my trial period by a month due to issues with my work.That isn't good enough for me. I don't do failure or mediocrity. So I intend to (a) stay put until they fire me (b) quit when I have another job in the bag. If they fire me before (b) I will just go back to freelancing again for a while or if they start bullying me to get me to quit I will just quit on the spot at the first sign and not give them the satisfaction of continuing with it until I die of slow torture during a notice period - and put in a formal complaint about their behaviour.
    No big deal all round. Just see yourself as awesome - for the right job drawing up your own particularly skillset. Unfortunately, it takes being in a job, not merely applying for one, to see the writing on the wall.

    I am working with several consultants and five of them complained to the administration about their will to terminate me from the department. Their concerns were that I am not productive enough since they noticed that inside the procedure I am physically there but mentally not there, I am easily distracted by thoughts, the second notice was that I am lazy and not proactive, I dont do things on my own, instead I am waiting for requests. I secretly agreed with them but in front of the administration I disagreed, I was given 3 months as a last chance. But seriously I dont know what to do now, this happened this week so I still have 3 months.
    I have the following issues:
    1- I am easily distracted but ideas and thoughts, this made me forgetful and negligent.
    2- I love the concept of my job, but I hate to work. I dont know why I feel lazy and I seek relaxation all the time. I sleep longer hours and I enjoy spending time on bed browsing my cell phone. How can I become like those workaholic employees who SEEK more tasks and embrace them? I feel like I cannot be like them no matter what.

    • @myemmotion
      @myemmotion  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Is this something ongoing? Have you had these issues previously?
      The fact that you love the concept of the job, means you are motivated by your position itself, that you "like what you do" which is a huge deal when it comes to overcoming the "laziness" or the lack of attention. Since this is the last notice, you have to take an initiative and make an effort.
      First step would be eliminating all the time wasters. They keep you distracted and unfocused, you also constantly eager to check your phone or anything else which is killing your productivity. It's easy to do things we feel like doing, but the whole point of being productive is managing to do things we don't want to. Think of it as your new goal, make becoming more productive your number one priority.
